Wifi of my OP3 can not be activated anymore. Also, latest build 5.0.5 bootloops (maybe because of that). I tried msmdownloadtool to restore to OOS 3.1.2 and it booted up again, but no wifi possible. I then tried unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom (omni) rom, but still wifi can not be activated. So, is this a hardware fault?

Without a logcat there is no way of telling. Best advice would be to make sure you are completely stock (rooted for logcat) and go from there.

I will try, but the last time I tried booting the latest stock rom, the phone bootlooped. Probably because of the wifi. I will flash it again through twrp and hope for the best

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum and got a small question. My girlfriend has an Oppo Find 7a. You guys probably know that the stock ROM is ColorOS. In my opinion it's crappy as hell, lots of bugs and issues, so I decided to flash Dirty Unicorns 5.02 on it. I did that yesterday and all is working fine so far, except that the battery drained from 100% to 64% last night (in 8 hours). See the photos attached. According to the photos it seems clear that the issue is the mobile data usage. I've checked the settings and it seems mobile data loses connection, connects again and loses connection everytime. Probably this is the cause of the battery drainage. Somewhere on this forum I read something about flashing Alucard 1.1a kernel on it to fix this issue. I want to try this in the evening, but does anyone know the correct type of this kernel as I found different alucard 1.1a download links?
Can someone please help me out with this? Yesterday evening I just flashed the Alucard 1.1a kernel via the custom recovery. I also removed dalvik/cache and rebooted after that. The Oppo boot logo appeared, but it stayed like this for 20 minutes. I'm not sure if I have to wait any longer to make it work or if the phone is just not booting up anymore with this kernel. Any advice?

Nope, actually I didn't. I wasn't aware of the fact that this was necessary. I had ColorOS 2.0.0i on it and flashed DU directly on it.
Can you maybe tell me what the proper modem and trustzone firmware is? And can these still be installed now even if DU is already flashed on it?

well you can do a clean flash again but this time you have to follow this for how and why to flash modem and TZ firmware:
https://plus.google.com/+BoskoTrkulja/posts/CENAM1a7Zob
you can get the modem and tz firmware here:

Sir, have my thanks! You are my hero of today. Thanks a bunch. I'm going to try this

So, one more thing If I may ask. What is the best thing to do from here on:
1. Flash modem, flash firmware, flash DU (directly over the DU rom that is installed now without doing a factory reset / wipe)
2. Flash modem, flash firmware, perform a factory reset / full wipe and then flash DU.
And will the newly flashed modem and firmware stay on the phone when i do a full wipe?

It's been a few weeks, but I finally had the time to do this. I've done a full wipe in TWRP and then flashed the modem on it. This showed succesful. It took about 10 minutes before the phone booted up afterwards. After that all seemed fine, so i've put the phone in bootloader via a command in cmd and installed the firmware. This also went succesful, but now I still have the same issues on the Oppo regarding the provider issue as mentioned earlier. The data connection is still being lost very often and it still seems to be draining battery (although less than before). Is there something else I can do to fix this ?

If you have recently done a clean install, give it some time to settle down. For Data connection issue, make sure to check your APN and also try a different sim or this sim in some other phone, could be signal reception issue.

I will give the battery thing some time to settle down then. About the data connection issue; This was not an issue on coloros, but I will check apn and try another sim. Thanks again!
I've changed the APN settings, as they stood on some kind of roaming setting. It's now been set to live.vodafone and seems to be functioning better already . If I still run into some issues I'll let it know. Thanks for helping me out
Hey you people!

yea it is enabled, there is "LTE" shown in the status bar, too. switched to 3g mode, same thing with H.
But wifi doesnt work either after some time, has an x shown besides the icon then. how about that?
no problems with 8.1 before.

Have you tried resetting your APN's?
Did you fastboot, side load, or OTA to 9.0?
Idk what caused the problem, but go to Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options > Reset WiFi, mobile & BT.
If no improvement, then get a new SIM card.
If still no improvement, then flash the factory image and don't make any system changes like installing a custom recovery/kernel. Make sure data is back to normal before doing any mods. Good luck!
i think i got it.
after flashing the magisk uninstaller zip, everything works.
so its either just root, or (and that i previousl missed) the adguard module (with root proxy mode).
I updated as usual without doing anything... and everything works. Could it be the extra stuff you do to your phone?
I think it's best that people run this without magisk until they sort out the bugs. Seems to be working fine for me after going straight stock without twrp or magisk. Had major problems before when I was rooted.

Right after Android 9.0 was released, I flashed the factory image without "-w" in flash-all.bat, installed TWRP and used Magisk 16.7 to root. Weird stuff started happening: the camera app force closed once, and I couldn't multitask back into Google Keep because the system thought Keep was not available (even though I could open it from the app drawer and it worked fine). So I started from ground zero and reflashed the factory image without editing flash-all.bat, I did *not* flash TWRP or Magisk, and everything worked as it should and no FCs. Today, I flashed TWRP and Magisk 16.7, and everything is still working properly. I am also using Adguard in standard mode (not root proxy), and it has been working flawlessly, and no mobile data or WiFi hiccups so far.
I have been flashing for years, and I am convinced that some stuff doesn't get completely wiped even when you flash a factory image. But usually another clean flash resolves any issues.

Good info my friend! As the saying goes...No wipes, no gripes!! :good:
Got my OP3 hard-bricked recently. I followed Naman Bhalla's unbrick guide and flashed down to OOS 3.x. Everything works fine except the WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The GPS toggle activates when I click on the icon, but it never calibrates my actual position.
The WiFi toggle doesn't activate, no matter how much I try.
The same goes for the Bluetooth option as well.
You can see the problem for yourself here
If I try to flash a new version of OOS, the phone freezes mid-boot and keeps restarting.
Any suggestions?

What happens when you try to activate these from Settings?
Flashing OOS later versions may solve the issues. What method did you use for flashing the later versions, adb or TWRP? Try adb.
I didn't face any such issues when I used the Unbrick Guide.
@rahulkulhalli
Do you have op3 or op3t ? This is for op3 .
If you have op3t use this guide

I simply flashed the then latest version of TWRP and then clean flashed the later version of OOS and then clean flashed custom ROM coupled with flashing of proper firmware after a couple of days, all using TWRP.
Which version of TWRP do you use? After the OOS 3.x boots up, flash TWRP 3.2.3 official and then try using that for the further ROM installations. If this also fails, use adb to install the ROM. Don't go straight to a custom ROM since you seem to have firmware issues.
You haven't said what happens if you try to enable wifi, BT etc from Settings instead of from Quick Setting tiles.
What I think is you need flash the latest wifi and bluetooth drivers. Just download them from this link and flash using twrp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/radio-modem-collection-flashable-zips-t3468628/amp/
You may need to reflash the OS after installing the firmware. Don't directly try to install custom roms after flashing the firmware. First flash latest stable build from official oneplus site, boot into OS and then you can do whatever you want with your device.
At this point, I'm assuming I did something with my phone. I've easily tried twenty combinations between different ROMs and gapps packages. I used TWRP, and didn't make a backup because I'm dumb.
None of my installations (if I can get past Google crash notifications) have usable wifi, and on one occasion, the flashlight wouldn't work. Bluetooth is able to be turned on, but I haven't tried connecting anything.
Any advice? I've been trying the whole process on Mac. My Windows machine isn't even recognizing the drivers I've downloaded. At this point, I'd settle for the stock ROM again.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply. Sounds like a persist partition issue. Flash stock ROM .
Hi!
Following up on that - had the same, flashed different Pie roms and none would have functioning wifi. And yes, i did flash stock rom via Emma few times.
Any ideas?
Maybe there is something in flashing process? I had other phones (HTC, Samsung) and flashing them was never a problem....
Additionally - tried hard to get xposed to work via Magisk, but all i got was bootloop. Any advice how to get Xposed to work ? I have XA2.
Thanks!

Flash latest rom via xflasher and everything working fine
Well, i have no problem with flashing factory ROM. I had problems with custom ROMs.
Anyway - managed to get it. I guess it has to do with dual boot partition, so that one should restart via recovery, and only then restart system.. Or something like that
I had the same problem after flashing custom ROMs. It seems that you have to enable Wi-Fi in stock rom before flashing any customs.
works fine during setup then vanishes and the wifi button doesn't do anything afterwards. is it hardware or software related?
weird thing i noticed is that any wifi related setting, will make the settings crash and not respond...

edit: seems like i have to unlock the bootloader to install a different rom, will update in a week
Sounds like a major issue , after watching the video, 2 things I would try remove sim reboot then try, of still fails the ROM must be corrupt , I would reinstall/flash sounds like you tried a factory reset so thats what I would do
thank you for your response. I did remove the sim and factory reset but no change. Can I reeinstall without having the phone unlocked? or is that only possible with an unlocked phone and the fastboot thing?
edit: found out how to local update rom, going to that and see how it goes.

you meant to say you just did a update? you will need unlocked bootloader I do believe but not positive if your going from stock to stock
I installed MIUI 13.0.3 with this method https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=1 but the same problem with the WIFI persist. If it was an software issue it should have fixed it right? so I'm thinking that it might be a hardware issue instead.
