Third post in the thread below. Just get the 7.1.2 full image instead of the 7.1.1 I mention in that post.
Pay attention to removing the -w from the flashall bat file. That is the key to saving your data.
And second to the last post in the thread are the instructions for getting root back.

Edit: went into the bat file and ran the equivalent commands in terminal

I had the same problem with my old Windows desktop which has only 4GB of RAM.
Used my notebook with 8 GB of RAM and it worked
i am facing the same issue

check this it seems as normal worked for mw too but had a wait a lot
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/5zh8a6/archive_does_not_contain_systemsig/
Don't use this Q/A form, it is a pain in the a$$ and hard to follow. Next time just start a regular thread.
Those two errors are normal but what is not normal is that system was not found. Either you unzipped the 2nd nested zip file in the image (supposed to be left alone) or you are using outdated adb/fastboot binaries. They were updated for Pixel, so older ones won't work.
Yesterday I got notification from Motorola Update Services about system update version OCXS27.1.2 (Android security updates thru March 1 2018). I download but it fails to install. [Software updated unsuccessful - Sorry, there was a problem updating your Moto Z². No changes were Made. √ OK]
I bought the phone used so dunno it's history. After purchase I unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP but have not rooted. I had it carrier unlocked thru an online service that enabled the T-mobile app on the server side (cellunlocker.net), and installed FreedomPop SIM card.
I called Motorola tech support. They first had me reset app preferences then passed me off to level 2 support after that didn't work, who had me factory data reset, and now they're passing me off to level 3 who may call me next week, since that didn't work either. Note when I did the factory data reset, it rebooted into TWRP automatically which asked for my lockcode, before (apparently) handling the reset request. After reboot I skipped the google login to make sure nothing conflicted, but it still won't do the system update.
I'm wondering if it possibly has to do with the phone's history somehow, or because I unlocked bootloader, or because I'm not using a T-Mobile SIM card, or because I installed TWRP. I dunno. I told this to Moto support and they didn't seem to care or think it mattered. They could see my resets from their side after I provided my IMEI.
Any ideas?
Having twrp flashed modifies /boot as our recovery is in the ramdisk in our /boot, which causes ota to fail. Fastboot flash stock boot.img for your current os (ncx26.2, ncx26.7, ocx27 or, ocx27.1) from the corresponding firmware package (flashall .zip) and you should be good to go. The official twrp can be booted now so no need to have it installed. If you do root in the future the same rule will apply as systemless root is also in /boot.
Sent from my Moto Z (2) using XDA Labs
Installing twrp mounted system as rw. You need to actually do a flash all with the official firmware by the Motorola Firmware Team on AFH. I have a thread in the guides section that educates on how to do this. Tier 3 will probably suggest the same.
You are probably getting this same error. It means you need to flash all with an official zip to have the update go through correctly.
Thanks much. I was a little worried as there seems to be an error message about file system, a scary looking warning, and FAILURE message near the end, but seems to have worked, and was able to OTA update after flashall. The only thing the instructions didn't specifically mention was to start phone with volume down+-power for fastboot, once I figured that out all was well.

You installed magisk which mounted a partition as r/w

Got it! Guess at this point, I'll just go over to DU.
So is there anything we can do to keep root and install updates?

Not really. The Motorola OTA checks the hash sum of each partition and if there is any discrepancy on partitions you wouldn't be able to edit without unlocking, it will fail as shown in the ota error message image a few posts back.
So if root is in a particular part of the partition, could I flash that specific part where root is stored, then perform the update, then re root?

Root mounts system and maybe other partitions as read/write when they aren't supposed to be, making the hash sum different. You would need to at least flash the official system sparses from the Motorola firmware team's flash all if not more than that. (Root is nestled in boot, so you'd need to flash that as well).
Well I can't update again but for some other reason, even after flashall.
Previously it was cuz of TWRP so flashall then OTA update no problem. Then I installed magisk and adaway and all fine. Then I was trying to figure out how to get rid of tmobile stuff, tried a couple apps on playstore, including titanium backup, but couldn't figure it out. Then I saw someone wrote an exe to do it (debload) and running that made phone not boot. flashall again, try debload, it works, happy, but can't find update (different message, says there are no updates). Disappointed but decide rather have no t-mobile apps than update, so move on and install magisk. Then it can't boot. Decide I'd rather have adaway than no t-mobile so flashall again, but still can't update.
So other than installing magisk or twrp, what could make it so I can't update immediately after flashall? I imagine that debload did something that flashall doesn't undo, but there's no real detail or source/etc about what it's doing other than removing oem partition, but I see flashall puts that back so doesn't seem like that's it...
So I flash all and installed the OTA, does this mean that since i installed the OTA that i cant install the flash all manual update(btw updating this device is a pain on linux)
So, I previously had a custom ROM but I wanted to switch to the new Dev Preview of P.
Running flash_all.bat gives no unusual error.

And manually flashing using this tutorial gives the same result.
After the "device is corrupt" message I get a Google logo with the unlocked lock at the bottom. So before the ROM boots.
I've tried the May System Image also, but it returns the exact same result. What should I do?
(It is critically unlocked)
I have the same problem!!!
OK guys I'm lost.
I was on TWRP and SELFISH ROM.
But then today due to ANDROID P Beta I want to go to Beta.
I did put the phone into bootloader.
and installed previous IMAGE : walleye-opd1.170816.010-factory-63083164
After that I put new image : walleye-ppp2.180412.013-factory-6406b348
Instaled like below.
But I can not boot. It always goes to bootloader. even recovery does not work.
I done like,this:

Shouldn't you be flashing the taimen image? walleye is for the P2, taimen is P2XL.
Hello,
Use the last version of adb ( I had this message with the old one ), second, use Taimen if you have the "2 XL"
Update your fastboot and try again
Personally I use Deuce script. Download the latest images and unzip them to the folder. Then run the Deuce batch file. It will clean/wipe/format everything and put it back to scratch/stock every time on my phone, no matter how fubar my phone like corrupt boot etc..
Then, developer/debug mode. Copy files over after you do a basic setup of the Rom. Then, do whatever are normal steps to run the Beta or a custom Rom from there.
I could never on two computers get fastboot to work with the Flash all bat without errors like that.
Deuce has always worked for me...and I've always had the latest fastboot/adb every time...so thank goodness for Deuce.

Uh..yeah...the Words Taimen should be in the file...not walleye....haha
Anyway..use Deuce and try that method. Had same issues months ago and could never get flash all bat to work from Google without using Deuce to save the day.
OK, thanks. will try, also try the different computer that I had previous luck with it,
Have Pixel 2. But you guys are more active on XL forum, and at the end, it is the same phone.
The only trouble that I can find now is all my flashes worked without errors and nothing happened.
Will report back , hope with a good news.
---------- Post added at 06:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:10 AM ----------
OK, some good news,
Did deuce script on the different computer.
And after restart, it went directly to TWRP. <I don't get it. didn't I just reformatted the phone with stock rom
Now I don't know where to continue.
Will probably install some custom ROM just in case, that I can get the normal boot? But want to go to android P and would appreciate any steps hot to get from custom rom and TWRP to original BETA.
Thank you again guys, you saved me this time.
I installed again TWRP just in case. TWRP installes on both slots, But when I but on SLOT A I can boot to recovery.
If I sellect SLOT B it gives me error and it is all over, can not get anywhere.
Than I fastboot --set-active=a
And again went to twrp.
Any IDEAS what is going on.
OK, did it. Did the fastboot flash all after new drivers new adb install and new computer.. after that it went through., Now I'm on BETA.
Thanks, everybody.
Guys I have the G5 that even passing software on it it remains on the motorola logo and does not start in any way to enter fastboot mode needs to be connected to the data cable + the Power buttons and volume less.
Normally just by pressing the combinations the motorolas will enter more this one does not enter and even passing software does not start, any suggestion of what might be?

I took it already so I tested some versions of the rom but only the most current version worked (ran the chambers without errors)

As long as you get into the bootloader it will be possible to fix - hopefully (When the bootloader is away there are chances too - but that's harder). Can you check the battery? And how did this happen?

Yes it normally enters fastboot. Give to run all fastboot commands on it, just not ADB because the bootloader is blocked and the usb debugging option is disabled, and as I can't get into the system, then there is no way to activate it. I managed to run the software on it, but even after finishing the commands it does not start.
I don't know exactly what happened, I took this phone only on the Motorola logo.

I can see a few errors where have typos eg dsp in the commands and you are also trying to flash a lot of stuff that simply doesn't exist
You've also erased stuff that doesn't need erasing and hopefully won't cause an issue
Please use the following commands to flash your firmware and in the order shown below and I presume you are using the following firmware

I ran the commands as suggested, but even so it does not enter the system, I notice that it gives a slight wink on the screen but does not enter the system it enters the recovery menu.

I ran the commands as suggested, but even so it does not enter the system, I notice that it gives a slight wink on the screen but does not enter the system it enters the recovery menu.

If you enter bootloader mode and then select start normally from the menu option does the phone boot normally? You can also try safe mode
As your bootloader is locked it will be very hard to fix if it doesn't start normally from this option
You may have a hardware fault if the bootloader has never been unlocked - obviously if you have relocked it after modding your phone this could cause issues which is why you should never re-lock the bootloader after unlocking it

Yes, I tried, but I didn't start, as I mentioned just a slight wink.

How can I start safe mode without accessing the system?

Option in bootloader menu
As stated if it doesn't boot there's not anything else you can do as your bootloader is locked
If you have never unlocked it then it could be a hardware fault
You will need to take it to a repair shop for diagnosis

OK.
I appreciate the help, it seems that it is a hardware problem, apparently, there is no logic to not work.

But this method is when it’s not even entering fastboot, so what did I see here in research or not?
Because mine enters fastboot normally even in the recovery menu just does not start the system

The image contain all system files with bootloader and firmware, so I just suggest you to try that method. And your device also not working, you can try this method.
