Hi!
Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched around but didn't see what I was looking for.
So does anyone know of a stable Google camera port to use on a custom rom that doesn't have the native Google camera app preinstalled? I've tried some of the ports before and tinkered with different recommended settings but I've never had any luck getting one to actually work. They always force close on me.
Any help is appreciated.
Arnova 8.2 works perfectly in stock oreo and stock pie (without root)

Why do you need this when you already are on a pixel device?

At least for the carbonrom pie builds. The prebuilt camera does not work.

In the standard camera you have no options, in arnova you can choose if you want to do the photos without jpg compression (100%) you can choose that the hdr+ postprocessing is not the default (super fast) and you can put it as slow as possible (better photos).
You can activate h265 video recording, face detection, etc....

Some roms don't have the Google camera preinstalled, and I'm trying to get a gappless set up but ideally I'd like to be able to use gcam still.

Having played around with some of the camera apk's for the Mi 6 what is the general opinion of the Mi 6 users?
Google Camera
MIUI Camera
Snapdragon
OnePlus
Moto
I find the Google camera to be the best even if HDR isn't enabled but the video is very choppy when panned to any degree. MIUI has a much smoother camera as does the OnePlus camera (tested latest version 2.5.20)
Let me know what you all think as will be interested to see results/settings
Google camera has the best picture quality, that's for sure, and I use the stock camera for videos.
What build of the Google camera have you been using/is the best to use?
I know all versions struggle with AF on HDR+ without toggling the settings each time
I've tried google camera with pixel libraries and 6p settings. Hdr+ photos are amazing. Can we collect all the mods in your thread ?
Yeah happy for that to happen, see what we can get going for the Mi 6

I'm using the latest version https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/....1.018_FullManual_v1.0_Android-7.0+-fix01.apk and with the Nexus 6 config, this way the autofocus will work after turning hdr+ off, then back on, and the touch focus works too.
Does anyone use the miuicamera mod? I used a very good version with HDR Pro, but never again did I find a bugless version

thanks, pictures are better than with stock MIUI camera,
i only got FC when trying to use slowmotion.. how to fix this?
is it working on LOS 14, 15?
I haven't notice big difference in low light photos anyway. Not sure which version of GCam I was using, there are plenty of them.
And I had working HDR+ but in return it couldn't focus on objects so photos were really blurry

U need root for the perfect version. U need to install Armova Magisk Fix v2.2 and savitars Colorfix (optional) for better GCam experience.. After installing these try Arnova latest Google Camera port.

Thing is I've got Camera M and the Gcam fixes installed and I get the feeling they might conflict. Anyone want to try it out?

Yea. Because thats not the latest OP6 camera. Thats old one.
The update is out for the OP6 (which includes the front cam portrait mode) and i am sure that someone will make it work for our OP5T. Just wait.

Hi, I re-enabled the camera2 API after the latest security patch released a couple of days ago and started playing around again with the various Google Camera ports to find the best one(s). Comparing photos between the stock camera app and the ones with Google Camera I can't find big differences anymore.
Differences were HUGE before the update, both on details and on general quality (especially in low-light environments). Now the quality of the stock camera (com.android.camera version 2.0) seems to be very near to the Google Camera. Maybe is it using camera2 API, if available? Or am I crazy?

I think you're crazy Stock app doesn't use Cam2API. Your issue might be related to focus issues on Gcam. Try 16:9 on Photo Mode then take a photo, so you might see the difference :good:

Which version google camera do you use?
I use arnova 8.3b1 and arthur's latest version.
I'm not facing focus problem.
What is your patch version?

To be honest, I've tried to get the OTA and install it through Magisk, as described in many guides, but it didn't work (boot loop), so I did a factory reset and reinstalled Camera2 with this guide, with the hope to avoid this problem with the next OTA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-how-to-enable-camera2-api-t3851414
Took a few videos using this phone at my sons birthday earlier. Very disappointed at the quality. Is there particular settings I should be using when taking videos? Or is there a better app to use? Pictures are good but not brilliant. So maybe my settings are not set correctly. Thanks in advance.

It is an app, actually many apps. Gcam is the Google's Pixel camera port and it works great on Android 8.1 Oreo. Not so much on Pie though, on Pie Xiaomi broke the focus and none of the gcams can properly focus. So if you're on Pie, don't bother, it won't be worthy of your time. If you're on Oreo, go to guides section and find guides about "camera 2 API" or "cam2API". Follow them to the letter then sideload gcam apk. :good:
I'm on android 9
Nexus 5X, 4/32
Running pixel experience with android 10. Haven't had any issues since upgrading to 4GB ram runs just like it use to back when I first got it.
By the way, facing problems at camera section. I was using Camera NX (super smoothly) for pixel experience with android 9 but it does not work with android 10.
Does anybody has the stable Gcam for pixel experience with android 10?? If yes, it will be highly appreciable if you share the download link.
+1 to this. We need sone sort of minimal or stable gcam for our sluggish device :crying:
I have the same issue. The only camera app that work nice and fast is the camera go (see my post here)
I think there's an issue with the camera library that comes with PE10. Every time I take an HDR+ picture, it crashes the camera app (I've tried several).
Best way forward is to debug the issue.
