Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Photo quality is super powerful... ilove the clarity and texture on the photos
i had a mi note 3. Photo quality is poor comparing to mi note 3, no telefoto lens, no 2x optical zoom, no OIS+EIS...
Not great
On MIUI 9.5 the photo quality for most pictures is terrible. Sometimes it is great, but that is rare.
The AI and HDR either oversaturate or overexpose and I suspect the "beautify effect" stays activated all time time (even when disabled in the UI) interfering with the quality/detail of the picture (e.g. trees become blotches of color etc.). Green things and scenery shots are a big problem for this camera.
Hopeffuly it will be better on MIUI 10.

Shot by me
Night shot in manuel mode!! Really impressive
I've just flashed the RR ROM and it's not so bad. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding camera apps?

More information
good concept if a bit ugly. The sample photos dont exactly sell it for me. Looks like your heavily sacrificing quality for range
You can get vignetting effect without using vignette
What if phone rings when using this?
Nice thought, but the photo quality looks bad.
I rather have a good quality picture than this type of photo (personnel opinion). But who knows, people might still buy them
You could just crop the picture and have the same image quality.

While in theory it's entirely possible to strap a zoom lens to a camera phone and get good results (i've seen some for iphone that work pretty well), i dont think this product achieves that.
If the photos on your adverts and website (supposedly taken by people familiar with the product and under ideal conditions) look blurry, dark and misaligned then what hope have the rest of us got. Seriously, those pictures look like they've been taken with one of those apps that degrade the image to look like a picture taken with a knackered old polaroid ffs.
Does the epic suck om low light situations? I take pictures with my nexus s and they seem to be better than the epic camera and they are both using stock camera and the flash for these pics. check out the screens below. Why does the epic color seem all washed out and darker while the nexus is the actual colors? thanks! Is this just how the camera is or can I have a faulty device? I do have a case on both devices.

EPIC
I cannot see your pictures. Please re-post. I'm so interested in any camera related topics because I love camera and it was my hobby - talking pictures - for past 20+ years.
Update - now I can see one pic but not able to compare between nesus and epic.
Now I see two broken picture links. No pictures yet.
To properly comment on your pictures and functions between nexus and epic, can you provide the full settings of camera?
Specially ISO, focusing mode, white balance, exposure, metering, etc....
EPic is 8M pixel and nexus is 5M pixel. So, generally speaking, epic pic should be more clear. But regarding the pictures, which one is darker, it can be different based on the light reflection and brightness of the scene when you take the pictues.
update - now I see both pictures.
the epic picture has incoming light from the window. That's the reason why the picture is darker than nexus one.

I just got my one x and I have to say the camera is most disappointing, it sucks it's basically unusable. I haven't upgraded my phone for ages the last one I had was the omnia 2, and I would say that one had a simillar camera, just with less useless features.
I don't own another good phone camera so I can't compare but from experience in apple stores, even the iPhone 4 camera is much better. The camera doesn try to focus when you press the shutter you don't even notice when was the image captured its like capturing screenshots from a live video feed instead of a real camera. The colors are oversaturated but if you turn it down a knotch it's undersaturated. 8mp sensor is pointless, the results almost never get better past 1mp. White balance sucks it often gets a purple tint. The live display is also terribly delayed unlike the iPhone 4s. The noise level gets crazy at times, reminds me of the ipad2 camera.
I don't know maybe I'm getting too used to my mirroless camera. I still love this phone though, even if it has no camera.

Please use one of the existing threads about the camera quality, we have already enough of them.

I've created Meter, which is a photography light meter for Android Wear. Feel free to check it out!

awesome idea!
just installed it, gonna test it soon.
Looks cool. My wife wants to know "how accurate is it"?
If you're the app dev, would like to know how it's calculating things. We're both university-trained amateur/hobby photographers and I'm a programmer, so i'm curious
It's quite accurate, but you have to understand the hardware limitations. This is a reflective light sensor, unlike incident light sensors used by companies like Sekonic. Stray light can put the sensor off by 2-3 stops.
The light sensor will output the amount of light detected in terms of lux. Using a few calculations, this is converted to an EV value. you can read more about this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exposure_value#EV_as_a_measure_of_luminance_and_illuminance
With the EV value, this gives us the current exposure of the environment. Given a user selected ISO and aperture, it is then easy to calculate the required shutter speed for normal exposure.

This a second mini action camera from Xiaomi to replace the original Xiaomi Yi.
The best part? It's a 4k model with a screen and many more features but cost the same as the original model, only $79!
Might be the cheapest 4K camera even compared to other budget models from China!
And it's not only about the price. Camera offers proper 4k at 30fps and up to 200fps in 720p slow mo.
Wifi app, timelapse, photo mode, image stabilization and many more features.
Exceptional build quality, I like Xiaomi Mijia 4K build over a GoPro Hero 4 and Yi 4K! Which says a lot.
Xiaomi offers a bigger battery ~2 hours in 4k mode and a better microphone, sound quality, as Xiaomi positions this model not as a regular action camera but as a general purpose small budget camera for traveling, youtube and etc.
Xiaomi Mijia 4k video.
Help
Bought 1 of these but can't get the mi home app to work with it. Is it because of custom ROM, what is the app you are using in the picture, thanks for any help.
