My gsensor and gyro are not working.
I did factory reset, flash stable and beta roms but i still cant fix them.
in engineering mode *#808#, The sensors can be detected but there are no readings.
I was rooted and flashed elementalx kernel before i discovered this issue
does the problem have anything to do with the persist partition?
someone from oneplus 5 might have the similiar issue with me

anyone have any ideas?

Hello everybody.
I tried a lot of ROM (from 1.5 to 2.1) and i never had problem (exept the know bugs of each of them).
But now I have a problem : GPS doesn't work at all.
I tried everything :
in last action :
I unformated my SDcard (remove swap and ext partition)
full wipe
Install modaco3.2
Still the problem : GPS switched on (no force close or error) I can't find any satellit. I tried, GPS software, Compass, GPS statut...
If it's a soft problem, is there a "stronger way" than a full wipe to recover the initial state of the phone?
In case of there was not a soft problem, could it be a failure of the GPS chip ? because I didn't let fall my phone, took underwater or something else...
Can someone help me ?
There seems to be a common bug with the 2.1 ROMs and GPS - one temporary fix (using VillainROM 3.4 anyway) is to switch GPS on then reboot the phone which will have it enabled.
If you are going back to 1.5 then reflash your radio image.

I think I had the same problem as you have. Try re-flashing your radio. Worked for me.

Phew, thought I was gonna have to send my phone back!!!
latest RA fix mine too! cheers
i can also confirm that flashing the radio image again fixes the gps.
After flashing the radio image i had a fix under 5 seconds
This problem appeared in 101 ROM when i tried to used photospere. the mosaic would never align to start the image. So i tried photo 360 to check this. same problem. i checked the gyrocope in service menu. it keeps on rotating even its kept in the stable most place.
so i thought it was a hardware issue, however when i verified the same in 4.3 (569) rom it was perfectly stable. gyrocope would move according the position of the phone. This is where i could conclude that this was a software issue.
And now in 230 (4.4) this problem still exist.
I even verified it with CM 11 ROMS. i didnt have any problem in gyroscope.
Now, is there a way to fix this. as per one of the post this was a kernel problem. if this is a kernel problem what are the things that are needed to fix this. as in any libs or files that may be able to fix this issue. please comment below.
Can the files from CM rom be used to fix this issue?
Note: i have done PCC repair like so many time so it doesnt really wont. so suggest something else.

I've faced the same problem. and just for photosphere, I have to stick to CM. I see you'd posted the same query on the Z forums but that thread got locked.
any success figuring out what's up with the gyroscope driver?
Experiencing the same problem too

Thank you for clicking on the thread.
I've loved my Zenfone 2 for a while now. I have the 64gb 1080p model. It was a well priced powerful phone for what I wanted.
However, I recently received an asus software update that completely borked the Gyroscope and some other sensors. I have read about similar issues online and testing the sensors reveals that they're not working.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have been unsuccessful in trying to install CyanogenMod13 or even TWRP/CWM. I rooted my phone and the bootloader is unlocked (white backscreen upon loading).
It seems as though ASUS doesn't want to fix this, would upgrading to a custom ROM provide firmware that would properly recognize and use the gyroscope as input?
I've tried wiping the system cache in the stock recovery, resetting to factory new and everything to no avail.
I am willing to "tip" or "pay" for someone's time if they can help me as I cannot auto-rotate or use any applications requiring certain sensors.
Thanks for your time.
I've upgraded to CM13 successfully now and the gyroscope is still not even recognized in Sensor applications. Is it hardware?
solution?
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if so if there is any solution. When I try to turn on WiFi the toggle immediately turns itself off. I noticed that the MAC Address looks really weird; 02:00:00:00:00:00.
I tried wiping the chache in TWRP, booting into safe mode, did a network setting reset but nothing have worked.
I'm no expert in android phones so that's about all I could think of that would help. If anyone else got any suggestions it would be really helpful. I would rather try other things before trying a factory reset.
My phone is rooted with Magisk (Updated to 15.0 this morning. Could this have caused the problem?)
Edit: The problem seem to have been solved by reflashing the kernel. Only time will tell if it is a permanent solution.
I'm having this same problem. I'm on the OOS Open Beta 4 currently. Could you please tell me which kernel did you flash to solve the issue?

Try elementalX or Flash, for me it is solve this problem. For me working dirty flash OOS also.
This problem begins for me after i flashed custom kernel.
I had the same issue with OOS 5.0.4 when flashing the OOS boot.img after a custom kernel. It gave me a weird MAC address and I couldn't enable Wi-Fi again. Dirty flashing OOS did the trick though.
works fine during setup then vanishes and the wifi button doesn't do anything afterwards. is it hardware or software related?
weird thing i noticed is that any wifi related setting, will make the settings crash and not respond...
miui global 12.5.8 stable, Android version: 11 RKQ1.200826.002, security update: 2002-01-01
dunno how to explain this, but this is what it looks like when I try to do anything in the settings (google drive video)
I have also looked at this thread where it seems similar to my problem, but could not find a solution.
MIUI 12.5 wifi issues
Hi, today I received the EU update to MIUI 12.5 - 12.5.1.0(RFAEUXM) . However, now my Mi 9 can't connect to wireless networks. I already tried restore the network defaults and then the factory reset without success. Any ideas? The behavior is - I...

edit: seems like i have to unlock the bootloader to install a different rom, will update in a week
Sounds like a major issue , after watching the video, 2 things I would try remove sim reboot then try, of still fails the ROM must be corrupt , I would reinstall/flash sounds like you tried a factory reset so thats what I would do
thank you for your response. I did remove the sim and factory reset but no change. Can I reeinstall without having the phone unlocked? or is that only possible with an unlocked phone and the fastboot thing?
edit: found out how to local update rom, going to that and see how it goes.
edit2: installed a new rom but the issue still persist.

you meant to say you just did a update? you will need unlocked bootloader I do believe but not positive if your going from stock to stock
I installed MIUI 13.0.3 with this method https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=1 but the same problem with the WIFI persist. If it was an software issue it should have fixed it right? so I'm thinking that it might be a hardware issue instead.

Did you mess up with any wifi or persist thingy?
update: I unlocked the phone and installed different rom versions with MiFlash.
I installed everything step by step following this guide for installing via fastboot https://c.mi.com/thread-1857937-1-0.html.
alioth_global_images_V13.0.2.0.SKHMIXM_20220314.0000.00_12.0_global: same problem

after a second restart, the wifi is compeltly gone now.
