AICP ROM - Bootloop after update - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Questions & Answers

Hello!
I have installed AICP ROM from official website for XIAOMI MI MIX 2. Everything has worked great so far and I have already installed several updates. Currently I have the version 13.1 WEEKLY 20180723 installed.
A few days ago came the version 20180730 and I have made an update. But then: Bootloop on the loadscreen. Phone restarts to recovery. I then restored the Nandroid backup and thought, I'm waiting for the next update.
Then today came the version 20180806. But again the same problem. I can not do an update anymore. What's happening?
My root tool is magisk.

Clean install?
I always did the update via AICP OTA. Since you can not adjust anything, just press download and install. Should I do the update manually with TWRP?

1. Treble enabled TWRP (https://dl.twrp.me/chiron/twrp-3.2.3-0-chiron.img.html)
2. Latest Firmware (https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=3700668719832237722)
3. Full wipe, Format data from TWRP (Backup ur internal... )

I do not install my smartphone again ... TWRP is already installed. How else would I get AICP on it ... AICP OTA will also be installed via TWRP.
I think you do not understand me right. No matter I will solve the problem differently. Anyway, I will not reinstall again. Then install again at the next update ...? And again and again...? Haha ... That does not solve the problem.

Sorry i speak French
SAUVEGARDEZ TOUTE VOS DONNÉ AVANT DE COMMENCER!!
Télécharger la dernière version de AICP
Aller dans le mode recovery (TWRP)
Wipe system, data, cache et dalvik
Flash Aicp rom et magisk (si besoin)
Format Data (répondre yes)
Et redémarrer le téléphone.

Why should I do that? Just because an update does not work, the smartphone apart from that but runs perfectly... Then I stop doing updates. Or maybe the next update will work. If I reinstall, who says the problem is solved? The next update may be the problem again. Should I reinstall each version...? Friends, that's not a solution.

Hello!
Since this post, I have not made any updates. Now i installed an update via TWRP and the problem is still there... Is there no solution WITHOUT reinstalling the phone?

Developer is @corphish . And he said (in the op) that we should use 3.0.0 or newer TWRP and that is all. No exact version number.

Magisk needs to be installed after every reboot?

I've installed latest Magisk via TWRP. All works well until I reboot, then it's no longer installed. I need to go back into TWRP to install it again.
I'm on Pixel OS rom.
Any ideas?

Flash magisk v18.1 and it will work fine. Don't update Magisk. Some roms have this bug.

If you reboot it should reappear (it does for me).
I don't know what's the root cause, I'll just wait patiently for a fix. Unfortunately I don't have time to troubleshoot or provide logs to whoever to help the investigation.
PS: in your description be more accurate "latest version of xyz" means nothing. Specify exactly which version. Especially there is stable and beta!

Bootloop flashing miui 12 closed beta

hi, i am having aproblem right now trying to flash miui 12. first time i just formatted the phone in twrp. used adb push to push the zip on the phone. and flashed it. it was successful but after booting into the system it had a password for some reason and there was no setup screen. so i tried to reflash by formatting again and repeating the process. now i boot into system and it just goes into bootloop at the MI boot screen.
Its super weird that it worked the first time. then it doesnt work anymore no matter what (adb sideload, multiple recoveries) and it seems the rom isnt installing correctly because afterwards i cannot flash magisk (cannot mount system partition)
Use fox twrp to flash.

Sequence of installing Recovery, Preloader etc

Hey guys,
It's nice to see preloader is received and I installed first time when I find it. Currently when I press Power+Up, it will have a DOS-like menu for me to choose, It occured after I installed preloader. At his point, can I install TWRP and then root? Will this DOS-like menu be replaced after TWRP? After installing TWRP, do I need to wipe data etc? I have heaps of apps and games installed, and I try not to do so.
My andorid is 9 and Chinese+Global Rom
Thanks

For the rom to work the way it is supposed to, you have to wipe everything except sd card. So you can backup those apps to sdcard or not. I advise you wipe everything, because it might bring you problems if you don't wipe them.
Okay I just did all this today. Let me quote it step by step.
1. Unlocked bootloader after waiting for 168 hours.
2. Flashed Indian version of MIUI 11 rom based on Android 9.
3. Flashed Pre-loader files & lk and lk2 files successively.
4. Flashed LR TWRP recovery.
5. Flashed a popular custom rom but found it buggy.
6. Reverted back to the Indian Rom again.

What popular rom did you tried, for how much time and what bugs you ve encountered?
Im on Global Rom and it seems quite stable. Just want root but scare of hard-bricking, I had this before and paid $30 for online services.

Why don't you install official TWRP? Also after installing, when you boot up with power+UP, still have preloader menu, then choose recovery to enter TWRP?

At first I installed LR TWRP but couldn't boot into custom OS. Then I installed Orangefox and I was able to boot. Yes pre-loader was already there... I guess pre-loader goes away when you flash any official MIUI rom as this happened with me. After flashing the Indian ROM again I had to flash pre-loader and recovery files.

Cesium OS. Overall its a good os, much stable and can be definitely used as a daily driver except for the fingerprint sensor issue. If you try to wake up device using fingerprint, it freezes and never displays the screen even when the power button is pressed. You have to restart the device to make it workable. Its a known bug.

Just install Magisk and load any custom os of your choice when you are done installing twrp. Remember, some roms require a specific version of recovery and Magisk installation also needs to be done carefully. Good Luck!

I did this 2 months ago, after "just install Magisk" It's hard bricked, and $30 to ask for online service to unlock.
did anyone tried flashing treble roms on the phone ? perhaps they work a bit better.

When I bought this phone, there was no pre-loader yet, and not much users know it's so easy to brick.

Bootloop to Twrp

I just bought a op8 but just for fun I wanted to update a custom rom on my op5t. I wiped everything and installed the rom like I've done many others, but it reboots back to recovery. I transferred another rom zip plus gapps, flashed it, but it does the same thing.
I've never encountered this. Is it maybe an issue with the Twrp version? I don't think so because I just updated to a new version a little over a month ago.
Any ideas to get me back to a working phone would be appreciated. It'd be nice to use this phone as a backup if necessary. Thanks.
Hello what rom did you attempt to flash and what version of twrp are you on? Also what android version was the device on before you tried flashing the rom?

Sorry. I totally missed your response.
I was on the latest Derpfest and had just updated to what should be the latest version of TWRP (Bluspark) I don't have the phone on me right, but can get the version number later.
I was trying to update to the newest version of Derp which was Android 11, but when that failed I pushed CRDroid to the SD card. It also booted back to Twrp.
Thanks.
