Hello,
I'm planning to buy a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, but I need the radio FM option.
Is it possible to activate this function?
Thank you very much!

As for this , I believe that you can enable this (root required) thru buld.prop . I have attached the screenshot for build.prop from mi A2 Lite , as you can see from the highlight , there is FM Transmitter which is turn off in this device .
There is possibility that you can turn this on by changing the value = True .

Thank you!
I think that I will buy this mobile. It seems a good one.

After enabling the value in the build.prop I can use the FM radio. I can only use it through the manufacturer's test menu however (FM test). I haven't been able to find an app that supports the FM driver. You access the test menu by entering * # * # 64663 # * # * through the keypad and selecting option 30. As you can imagine the interface is pretty barebones, since it's just a test menu. But it works.

did you try with Spirit FM or LineageOS FM App ?

MY last Xiaomi phone had a Xiaomi FM app, maybe that one works?

Got my Mi A2 lite yesterday and was surprised to see that there is no FM Radio app (previews and descriptions had said it had as far as I knew).
Rather disappointed as the FM Radio was a Biggie for me, and having had it in my Xiaomi Redmi 4x and Xiaomi Note 4x I was expecting it to be there.
Anyhow, spent a couple of hours looking at options, as the FM radio chip is there, as seen by doing the test mentioned above.
So I tried sideloading the Xiaomi FM radio APK (after allowing apps from any sources and allowing developer options). But this did not install for me. Looked like it was doing, but would stop.
I then looked on the Play Store for a proper FM Radio, no data, app... And I can't see one at all, they all use data and are badly 'advertised' (I tried 5-6 of them)
Then, going by a similar thread here on XDA for the mi a1, I found a very temporary solution (not ideal, but a way to listen to a station on FM) and a bit of a variation of the Test solution...
In Play store, search for Qmmi the first app you see is Miui Secret Settings ( I think) download this, open, select Qmmi, then scroll down to the 51st option, FM.
You can now search for a station, and then play it and close the screen / play in the background if you like. No presets or anything.
Again, not ideal, but a way to use it if needed, without rooting, etc.
Hopefully somebody will be able to get a proper solution / app someday, as it clearly has the FM radio on there.
I am tempted to return the phone and go back to my Redmi 4x cos of this.

On A2 Lite ?

Yes.
You need to install Magisk first and then this module.

Yeah, pretty much the same solution as I posted in post 7, the QMMi.
I have found it doesn't find many channels at all, but luckily I can find a couple of the ones I listen too, but even then it's not as 'stable' or clear as using the FM radio on my other Xiaomi Miui devices.
Ah well, have decide from keep the phone, but that lack of proper FM was a real piddler.

It probably doesn't have the full DSP needed to decode Stereo FM that other apps have and probably has the wrong preemphasis setting for your country. It may also not have proper antenna circuitry to the headphones.
It actually sounds really good around Seattle. Very glad this has at least somewhat FM capabilities. Seems that the MIUI hidden settings trick might be decoding stereo FM?

what version?

What version did u use on that link?

Hi, I also have the Redmi 4x, is this one is really bigger ? there are some shortcut for the light or enable the 4G on the A2 Lite ?

The Pie update activates the FM radio.

FM radio support?

Can we use spirit fm on oppo devices or not? Planning to migrate from note 2. Good idea?
Why not just use TuneIn or something that's radio over Wifi or your data plan and it has stations from all over the world on there!

An Oppo rep said on the oppo forums that the hardware doesn't support FM radio. You could use one of the many internet radio apps, but FM radio is a no-go.

[q] fm radio app needed | no root

Hi Guys,
Does anyone knows a Radio FM App other than Default Moto G APP that works ON AIR & doesn't uses MOBILE DATA WITHOUT BEING ROOTED.
Let me tell you that i have already tried "Spirit2: Real FM Radio 4 AOSP" & "NEXT RADIO APP'.
NEXT RADIO APP works fine but the only problem with this app is that it doesn't tunes EVEN FREQUENCIES in INDIA like 104, 104.8,102.6,106.4 etc etc.
Guys Do post link if you knows such an app so that i can download from there or upload the same on your google drive
What's the issue with moto radio ?........ Why u want another app...... As u already tried Spirit2 best alternative of default radio......what else you want in a radio app??
Spirit or Spirit 2 is the BEST FM Radio app PERIOD! I've used it for many years. The stock app isn't even in Stereo. I bought a Moto G LTE and am rooting it for the SOLE purpose for FM using Spirit FM.
Now on that note you CAN use Spirit 1 UNROOTED. Get in touch with Mike Reid here on XDA.

Spirit2 works fine on my MotoG test phone, but it requires root.
Spirit1 works without root. The latest 1130 release has a "MotoG detection" fix and should work on some models that it didn't before.

Why i want another Radio app?
Good Question .
Dude i want to switch Radio Channels via my default Headset.
It is possible via an App "Headset Button Controller" & third party radio app.
This experiment works fine with Next Radio App but the only problem in Next Radio App is that here in india it doesn't tunes EVEN FREQUENCIES channels like 104,104.8,102.6,106.4 etc etc
AND when it comes to Rooting, i fear a lot of it as i never ever rooted my Phone & neither my friends have knowledge of it.

Okay..... Download latest version of Spirit 1..... Possible no sound ? problem coz my sister ? use spirit 1 latest version on her non rooted moto g XT1033.... Issue Possible due to some previous version and it doesn't required any special settings to tune ? radio on spirit one thing more If you want to control radio through handsets then follow this setting..... Go to Setting➡UI➡click on media button pause/play➡choose seek up/preset up...... Now you can control radio frequency by pressing handset button ones or twice depending upon whether you choose seek up or preset up...... Hope it helps......
It worked. Cleaned up lengthy post. Purchase the unlocked app. Also responds to headset button.
In free nothing works as in dev thread may be link outdated. Moto OEM is defaulted in automatic audio settings. Unfortunately Motorola settings don't work for moto g phone.
Working settings:
*Band Any, for India keep North America for wider band reach (any band works for me 90+khz range).
* Settings >Audio >
Digital XZ2
Sony Z2
Sony Z2 Alsa
Sony Z/QC Intent
Sony T/QC Intent
Hit thanks if worked.
The above combinations are for informational purpose only contact developer for appropriate settings.
To me sony z2 sounds the best. All the best.

Thanks man, i already have internet radio with local stations and it's fine for for wifi use but i don'r have wifi everywhere and mobile data is very expensive at my region. This is my first mobile phone with no radio built in lol. Mayby i ll use for this purpose one of my old 10€ device which of course has this standar hardware. Epic fail from xiaomi.

What our options are at this point
Well, we shouldn't give up yet. It could be possible to enable it via a hack if hardware supports it. SoC supports it, but maybe it depends on the internal wiring of the antenna.... idk....
Another option is telling the modem to use fm bands.
Finally we could settle for sth like an external receiver which we will connect via otg but where would we place the earphones?
I really hope someone more knowledgeable picks this up!

Question about the whyred dual camera and custom ROMs

Hi everyone,
So I'm thinking about switching from MIUI to a custom ROM, and I was wondering if it is possible to use the second camera with custom ROMs like Lineage or RR (or whatever ROM out there). I don't know much about camera protocols and as far as I know there is no standard one for dual cameras, so I don't know if just installing Xiaomi's camera on a custom ROM will take use of the second camera. (I don't even know if this precise camera app is installable from anything else than MIUI). Also, I've myself not encountered any camera app out there that can take advantage of the whyred dual camera.
Of course I can rely with some AI cameras for lens blur and portrait mode, but I don't know, I just don't like the concept of losing the utility of an hardware piece just because the software can't "afford" it.
Thank you for reading, guys.
Interesting question! And even more important, how is the quality compared to miui?
Have you tested it with open camera??

Mi A1 forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/themes/oreo-mia1-stock-rom-camera-app-custom-t3758543
It's reported working fine, except HDR. The feature is turned off by default, but don't take a photo with it being on or app will crash until you restart your device
PS. Please dive through the forums for answers, before opening a post.
Edit: can you guarantee, that your stock camera ain't just for show? I mean did you open it up and stick a multimeter to check?
Edit_2: pls don't try...dual camera are actually working, you'll notice a difference once you compare a stock MI camera app with GCam
And don't try sticking up a multimeter up your Mobile
You're Joking Right..

The phone in question is RN5 AI Dual camera, NOT Mi A1! Totally different phones. The AI comes with SD636 chipset, the Mi A1 with SD625 chipset. The ROMs are not compatible at all.

It is not a rom, he is telling you to flash.
But a Ported Mi A1 Camera app, that works across custom roms.
It will actually allow use of the Redmi Note 5 [WHYRED] dual cameras in manual mode of the app.
Also the AI in the device name, is used incorrectly by some sites. Not the official name or appendage for the device.
Edit: - Last time i checked, no one has ported the MIUI camera from RN5 yet.

Does it work with the app that comes on the phone - Mi Remote?
I found that it would work with this app but not with my preferred app Anymote. However I have now found out how to get it to work with Anymote. (Settings and enable use alternate IR commands,)

not all the apps work with RN8P so you might want to try a few apps to see which one works for you.
