WHAT:
I'm giving away my BT200 Freespeak headset. This is the Bluetooth set I used when I still had my XDA1 (ages upon ages ago). Just to give you a short description; this headset can be used for non-blue tooth phones. All you have to do is plug in the converter (which also acts as the cradle and charger) to your phone (like an XDA1), pair the headset and there you go.
I'm giving away the following:
1 BT200 Headset
1 Charger/Bluetooth Adaptor/Headset Cradle
1 Charger for use in Asia
1 Charger for use in the US
1 Original Box
1 Original Plastic Tray for the items above
WHY:
The reason I'm giving this away is that some time ago a buddy of mine visted with his 9-year old kid. We left him playing around the garden with our dogs; what I didn't know is that he was able to get a hold of my Jabra BT200 unit. He basically used a black marker to color the blue surface of the headset. It's still working, the only problem is that whenever I put it on my ear the next time I take it off there's now a small black line on my face (because of the pentel marker). I've used cotton and a very light form of paint thinner to remove the black color. It's still there and sometimes when I wear the unit it still leaves a black line on the side of my face.
Well, it was a good excuse to buy a new headset; since then I've been using the O2 clip on BT piece. I checked the unit and it's still in A-OK condition. The charger still works and the blue light on the cradle works when plugged in. The headset still pairs well with the cradle AND my XDA2. In other words, with the exception of the black color; the headset is in perfect condition.
With this, all I ask is that whoever wants it please pay for shipping. I checked with the post and it costs only 20 USD. Should it be different I will shoulder the rest.
OR: If no one is interested then I'd appreciate it if you can offer some advice as to what kind of solution I can use to remove the black marker.
Here are some pics for your reference. Again, this has NO catch whatsoever. I won't even be posting this in eBay because I think it's a total waste of time. I won't even start any bidding wars here in the forum. 20 bucks for shipping, that's all I ask. Please PM me if you're interested. The first one to do this gets the unit/set. I have a Paypal account so there's no problem with sending payments. Please note that today's a Friday and I don't check my emails in the weekend. I get back to the office on Monday and from there if anyone's interested I'll respond immediately.
Cheers
Rob
If you still have it, i would glady take is of your hands

Depends on
1. Where are you and mode of getting it to buyer
2. Is it SIM Locked or NOT
3. Mode of payment.
4. Who is benefitting from your sale of it - reason, hopefully its not faulty
Bearing all in mind, I would say I can pay £50, for my child in need !

if anyone wants it in europe i will be in the UK on wednseday so then i can mail from it from there and there's no tax probs
I just wanted to share my car install experience. Notice that I only used the holder portion of the mount, and I cannot swivel to landscape mode. This works for me since I already have built in Acura navigation, and I mainly use my Tbolt for streaming MOG radio which is portrait mode only. This install location works perfectly for lack of glare, cable placement, accessibility, and allows me to keep my focus on the road.
** note: I used an agressive mounting tape capable of holding up to 5lbs and dealing with high temperatures. This is available at Home Depot in the paint department for $4. I mounted the car holder directly to the fake black wood panel that has a glass finish gloss surface. PLEASE do-not blame me if you ruin the $95 panel should removal cause the fake wood to crack, etc.
1- The car mount is at Verizon stores & online part # HTC6400MNT for $29.
2- The micro USB port on the mount has two metal dimples that are evil and require WAY too much force to install & remove the Thunderbolt. I recommend using a single edge flat xacto blade to remove as much of the dimples as possible. Once removed the Thunderbolt slides on and off the mount properly.
3- ******* Before mounting!!! Attach the micro USB power cable & route the audio cable and choose a location that allows the mount to remain flat against the surface & gives the audio cable enough play to be connected & removed.
4- Prep both surfaces with alcohol to remove any surface contaminants.
5- Remove the double side adhesive mounting tape covering and carefully align and lightly press the mount on ONE tiny leading edge only... allowing you to slightly adjust alignment prior to fully pressing the mount into place. **It's strong adhesive and you only get one shot so be careful.
This process has worked perfectly for my needs, and the mount is rock solid. I have a full view of the screen from my seating position, easy reach to the display, and as much as I wish the micro USB port on the mount passed audio.. it's really not a big deal dealing with the audio plug.
I hope this helps and streaming 320Kbs from MOG's 10 million database of music over 4G is such a thrill. They currently have a major Android player bug but an update will release soon.
Wow.. looks good!
Dude MOG on Android has sucked since day 1. Hopefully they will get it straightened out one of these days, I gave up.
Nice job - looks very similar to mine except I went horizontal down by the AC controls (Explorer) and switched to the Google Car Home - it is sweet. I like the 90 degree cable - where is it from?
6 foot 3.5mm male to RCA male cable
I got very lucky and found this at Radio Shack... even the inept sales guy kept saying it didn't exist... then I located exactly what I needed on his rack It might be easier to find it online & get it shipped. If I can pull the package out of the trash I'll replay to this thread with the Radio Shack part number.
The clearance between the car mount plastic & the 3.5mm jack of the Thunderbolt is very tight. Fortunately this cable has a thinner section closer to the base of the metal jack allowing it to clear the plastic of the mount.
Re: MOG... yes I'm relaying email to their Android staff daily. Fingers crossed as the audio quality & features are much better than Pandora One.

It's the one made by Google, it's the best - very customizable. You won't be able to find it via market on your phone since it is "incompatible" because of stupid sense. Just download the apk and side load via USB or dropbox. when you choose the car panel app it will prompt you for which app to use - choose the Google one and set to default. Then when you put the bolt in the dock, it will launch google car home.

Thanks I'll track one down. I have a regular coil cord but want to hide the aux cable like I did with the power cable. Plus it sticks out just enough to hit my knee - the 90 degree will do the trick though.
Radio Shack 3.5mm to RCA Cable
Goto their website & search for 42-492 and it should come up.
No matter what phone dock I get, I always adapt it to a vehicle specific mount. I hate suction cups and vent mounts
I have my set up nearly the same only in the left bottom corner of my windsheild... I long ago hard wired a dual cigarette charge port to the inside of my dash and have routed power to a couple differnet devices and places using standard car chargers and makes the install seemless...
The next step in my install is to find a 4 conductor 3.5mm male to 2 female 3.5mm adapter or make one myself (one mono and one stereo on the female ends) and hardwire that to a mic element I have and the rear aux input of my car stereo... hopefully this setup will yeild much better speech recognition and usable docked speakerphone calls without buying an expensive bluetooth setup.
nice looking setup
I'm thinking about getting this mount.... What's your thoughts OP? Can you charge the phone? Looks like the bracing covers the USB input.
Kudos for a job well done!
Definitely saving this thread. That's a genius idea. I'll be doing the same with my car soon I'm sure.

Hi Guys,
Excuse my brief hijacking of the thread, but I feel this relates to the discussion.
I have recently released a new media player for Android, and the focus is on easy browsing, huge album art and a "no-look" playing screen that let's you control the functions with gestures. There is even an option to keep the screen on if connected to power. Works great in the car.
It's called simplePLAY, and you can see it running on my Thunderbolt here:

Sorry for the interruption.

I'm looking to buy the car dock, MHL Adapter and USB adapter for the SGS2. I was hoping that we'd have something in Canada by now, but it doesn't look like it. Anyone have any ideas where I can get these accessories, and when they'll be available (especially at Best Buy, as I have gift cards)?
BTW, I tried to order these accessories from Bell in early August. Their website doesn't show availability and I got an email a couple of days later saying that they had none in stock and weren't expecting them until end of August. I cancelled the order (as they charged my credit card right away and I don't trust them). I followed up this week to see if they had any in stock and they told me that they can't tell me. I have to place the order to find out. Ahhh, you gotta love Bell.
There is none available in Canada, I order my accessories on eBay, a Korean seller.
For cases there is a seller in Toronto selling authentic SGP cases, love my SGP Neo Hybrid!
Thanks for the reply. I checked ebay, but the price of the car dock was too high.
I ended up ordering the car dock and MHL adapter from ExportPrive (they didn't have the USB adapter). This was still a bit expensive, but the only place that I found cheaper was expansys.ca. After the reviews I read about expansys, there's no way I was going to order from them.
I have ordered a car, desktop dock and battery pack case as well as other cases all with expansys and have never had a problem.
It's good to know that not everyone has had a bad experience with Expansys. Probably more times than not there are no problems with Expansys, as people are generally more vocal about negative experiences than positive ones. However, I've read enough bad stories (even on their own forums) to not risk it.
It figures. After ordering the MHL adapter from Export Prive, I found a similar one for less from MonoPrice. I know it's not an official Samsung adapter, but I'm sure the quality is excellent, as everything else I've purchased from them is.
Here are the details:
Product Name: Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter - Black
Product ID: 8675
Price: $15.92
The current list of MHL compatible devices includes:
Samsung Galaxy S II
Samsung Infuse 4G
HTC Evo 3D
HTC Flyer Tablet
HTC Sensation
Oakville place had all accessories at the bell store

No problem. I'm pretty sure the quality will be pretty good, but I'm interested in reading your review.
BTW, I've since found that the Bell store in Ajax had the MHL adapter in stock. They haven't received any stock of the car adapter or OTG USB adapter yet, though.
Anyway, $16 from MonoPrice for their brand (+ shipping) vs $50 from Bell for the Samsung one...it's an easy choice. I just wish I would have found it a day earlier!
I received my order from Export Prive today (the 14th). I ordered it the night of the 8th, so it came pretty quick. It was pretty much right on their estimate.
If anyone's interested, here's a breakdown of the costs from Export Prive compared to Bell:
Export Prive:
1 SSGMHLADGS2 Samsung MHL Adaptor to HDMI Output for Galaxy S II i9100 $33.12
1 SSGVHCLDGS2 Samsung Vehicle Dock for Galaxy S II i9100 $51.02
Sub-Total: $84.13
Shipping via Express Mail Service (EMS): $17.90 (you can save about $5 if you choose a slower shipping method)
Total: $102.03 USD (came to $103.04 on credit card bill due to currency exchange fees)
Bell:
HDTV adapter: $49.95
Samsung vehicle dock (window mount): $49.95
Sub-Total: $99.90
HST: $12.99
Total: $112.89
As you can see, ordering these two accessories from Bell would have cost me more than it did with Export Prive.
I tried out the vehicle dock kit and I like it. It's light weight, yet solid. It comes in two main pieces. There's the arm that has a suction cup for the window / dash, and there's a holder for the phone that can snap to the arm.
To insert the phone, you just pull down the lock (at the bottom), snap the phone in and push the lock back up (which connects the micro USB). This could probably be done with one hand. There's no way the phone will fall out.
To take the phone out, pull down the lock at the bottom, press on the tab at the top and pull the phone out from the top. Most likely this will require two hands, but we'll see after I get used to it. I kept pressing the power / lock button on the phone when trying to take it out, but hopefully that won't be an issue as I adjust the technique I use to take it out.
Once the phone is in the dock, it can be rotated and the angle can be changed. This means that you can have it vertical or horizontal (on on any orientation you want). The angle can be changed so that it's directed more to one side. It's on a ball joint, so it's completely up to you how you want to set it up. There's also a knob on the back that will allow you to adjust the tension.
The phone holder can be removed while the phone's still attached, so if you need to quickly detach it and put it back, it's pretty easy.
When you insert the phone, a few things happen (regardless if you have the lighter apapter plugged in or not):
Care mode is activated. A little steering wheel icon is shown in the status bar at the top to indicate this mode is active. It can be disabled from the notifications window.
The "Voice talk" application is started.
The speakerphone is activated.
Unfortunately, the speaker is on the back of the phone. There is an opening on the holder to allow the sound through, but there's nothing to redirect the sound to the front (maybe the windshield will help, we'll see). I can't see this being loud enough in my car. I'll have to try it out for a couple of days.
There are two ports on the back of the phone holder: one for the speaker line out and one for the micro USB adapter. It comes with a lighter adapter that has a micro USB connector. They've also included a little magnetic clamp that can be used to bunch up any excess cable.
Overall, I'd say it's a well built and thought out vehicle dock kit. It's solid, looks nice, holds the phone really well and automatically puts the phone in car mode. It has a couple of minor issues, such as needing to pull the phone out from where the lock / power button is, and the speaker on the back (which is more of a phone issue than dock issue). I'd say it's also overpriced, but I think it's worth it. I'm happy with it.
I haven't played with the MHL adapter yet. I can't believe Bell is charging $50 for it, though. Even worse is the standard battery from Bell...it costs $89.95!!! I know all of the other accessories are over priced, but that's ridiculous!
I ordered my Otterbox Commuter case directly from the Bell website, at which point it said "expect your shipment in 3 weeks when we're restocked". It came a few weeks ago. It's $34 CDN on the Bell website, which is cheaper than most places I think. I noticed they now have the car dock as well. The battery price seems downright ludicrous however; perhaps it's also a mini desalinization plant?
Any/all Bell stores I went to had SFA for the SGSII in stock.
My phone sits by my computer most of the time, and with my HTC Mogul, then HTC Touch Pro, then EVO 4G I've bought a combo cradle/battery charger. I haven't seen one mentioned available here for the Epic 4G Touch and I just found/bought one on eBay and thought I'd mention it for others interested in a device like this. Once I receive the item I can post a review if you guys would like.

This looks like the one I had for my Touch Pro 2... it worked nicely and was cheaper than the official docks.
I am interested in your impressions as well.
thanks
Question for anyone that has purchased this dock..
Have you been able to charge your phone with any type of case on it? Thanks.
Just a quick update. I got the charger, but I don't have an Epic 4G Touch yet. The first seller I bought the phone from ended up being from a scammer. I gave the dock/charger to a friend, and bought another one that's already here. I should have the Epic 4G Touch from another seller here by Tuesday and will post my impressions soon after.
Damn, sorry to hear that..
Ok guys...
Im also looking at desktop cradles and found this other one:
From an Amazon vendor:
$22 (includes shipping):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OTXKK4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3CZ5XR3PIAJMS
It's basically almost the same design as the one the OP linked to. What do you guys think?
I kind of wanted one that you could rest the phone in and charge it with a cover on, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

I think this one is better because you can turn your dock on its side like if you were watching Sprint TV...

This one looks nice, but some of the reviews for this brand (for other phones) mentions it covers up the speaker so when the phone is docked the sounds are silenced since the speaker is at the bottom. Although this may be true for all these 3rd party docks.
It's cool, Paypal resolution against the scammer just resolved today and they sided with me and already credited my PayPal account.
---
For that other cradle from Amazon, though you probably can put it on its side I'd be concerned with the side buttons/hitting the desk and possibly being pressed in, and possibly the device itself slipping out. The other concern I have with that model is that I can't clearly see the extra battery charger compartment. The one I got should accommodate extended batteries, but I can't tell on that model.

it looks like the one from Amazon just a different brand.. it also covers the speaker so I wonder if you can hear the alarms or music... there may be enough room behind the actual phone to allow the sound to be heard, but it doesnt look like it.
Quick first impressions:
* Feels solid and fits snugly, so pay attention when docking the phone in as it aligns only one way.
* When no battery is in the battery charging slot there's a LED that flashes crazy fast green/red which may bother some people. You can always cover it up with electrical tape. I don't notice it most of the time since my phone blocks the LED anyways when docked.
* A significant negative and quite surprising difference in the dock compared to the docks I had for my EVO 4G / Touch Pro and Mogul are that this dock only has one USB slot. So it either charges the battery and phone from a wall plug or it charges the battery and connects/charges the phone via your computer's USB port. My previous phone docks had 2 USB connectors, one for the battery and one for the phone. I haven't tried connecting this to my computer or charging an extra battery yet but I'm figuring trying to charge two things at the same time via one USB cable, especially when connected to a computer USB port would not be very efficient.
Update 12/09/2011: Argh, deal breaker, just got my Trexcell 3800mah Extended Battery, but because of the location of the battery contact on the battery and dock it won't fit, .
Killabee and talynone
that second black dock is the one I am interested in. my PRIMARY concern with docks that use the charging jack on the phone (whatever happened to dedicated dock "contacts" on phones Cheap SOB's)
is that I want the phone IMMOBILIZED while in the dock. ie I don't want to be able to TILT the phone forward while in the dock "stressing and breaking" the usb jack on the phone.
IE I want the dock to RESTRICT the movement of the phone to vertical only (insert remove dock connector type motion)
the first dock in this thread would NOT prevent the phone from tilting forward.
the second one I am not sure about. do those sides "wrap" around the edge of the phone enough to restrict its movement to a solid slide and NO forward slop?
Here is a video of what I mean. (its processing give it a few minutes to process)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhWtz5EU_Rg
nerys71,
I saw your video and can tell you that the phone in this dock is not restricted from tilting. So yes it will tilt while charging. I am talking about this dock:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OTXKK4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3CZ5XR3PIAJMS
ahh pity. I assume you have it? does the phone protrude past the front "AT ALL" in that dock? IE it looks like it would be friendly to modding it with 2 "lips" on the front to prevent the phone tilting.
Yeah I have it. It doesn't pertrude at all. The phone sits flush.
