Hi All,
Recently purchased and installed a Joying head unit (4GB, PX5 Octa Core) (link)
So basically my question is does anyone know of a way of getting android notifications from my android phone to show up on my android car head unit without the use of android auto?
Notifications like whatsapp, SMS's, email notifications etc. The end goal here is to have an app running on both android devices so when I get a notification on the phone a notification banner will also show up on the car head unit.
Any assistance would be great.
Any news ???

Hi guys,
I got a new HA2100 dual core head unit.
I'm new to all that staff but i have android phone for a long time so i know many of the terms.
I installed the latest Malaysk's rom and MCU version 2.83 and i have some question and problems.
The first and major one is that after the upgrade the wifi stops work, it not start, do this related to the MCU version? do i need to downgrade the version?
second question is about the built in 'Bluetooth' app, when i get a call it appears in the bottom of the screen and i can't do anything else with the head unit, for example return to the navigation app of search for something, at least i want it not hide my navigation app, There is something to do with it?
and last but not least, there is a music player app that can play music from storage and from bluetooth device (like my phone) in the same app or at least to display the song name from the bluetooth device?
Thanks,
It's really great community!
One last cry for help before I drop-kick my head unit into the lake!
Do you have an MTCB or MTCC RK3188 HU that connects via bluetooth to an android 7.1 (Nougat) smartphone and allows you to make/receive calls via the HU?
If you have, what HU ROM are you using and do you need any additional apps to make it work?
I have an MTCC RK3188 HU which worked perfectly with my Xperia Z3 for calls over bluetooth but I can't get it to work with my Xperia XZ Premium and I've tried loads of ROMS, MCUs and bluetooth/MTC service apps.
Desperate! Help! Please!
I don't have the quad core rk3188, but I have the dual core rk3066 headunit(MTCB-JY). I did sync my nougat phone (Oneplus One on CyanogenMod), and answered a phone call through the stereo. I had my mom call me to test it. She said it sounded like I was far away from the mic (using the built-in mic on the front of the HU),I was less than an arms length away from the HU. 08122014
The headunit is using the stock shipped rom with a build number of 08122014 running 4.4.4, MCU 2.16. I used the Bluetooth app that was installed on the HU to sync the phone and connect the phone to the stereo. I didn't try calling out, but I answered a call using the stereo. The phone played it's ringtone, but the stereo did a normal phone ring.
I did just update my HU using the Malaysk rom build for my stereo and updated my MCU to the highest version. I haven't tested the phone capabilities yet.
Howdy,
I have a pretty straight forward question. I am about to dump some money on a new head unit for my car. This one to be specific: Kenwood DMX7704S
My question is: Will I be able to use Waze and Google Play Music at the same time with Android Auto?
A question requiring a bit more detail: If yes to the above, what is the experience like? Will Waze run in the background? Will Google Play Music run in background? What is the experience like?
Yes. But not sure Waze is out of beta yet. But yes it will play music and have Waze up on screen or have music up and give you both audio and visual notifications
Hey mate, I tried a few head units like this including our local version of this one as I wanted to do exactly the same. *From memory* you connect the Android phone via USB, run Android Auto and it will let you select if you want Maps or Waze on the screen. I know it did that on a popular Sony one and yeah it’s all good and stuff if you want an all in one unit. And I’m pretty sure you can run audio and Waze.
If you’re keen, this is what I’m doing:
After checking out several of these head units including generic double DIN Chinese Android ones I ended up going down a different way. I bought a single DIN head unit Sony MEX-N5200BT and am running Waze on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7” (T-210). I got it because I have planned on hiding the head unit in the dash and fabricating the Galaxy in the facia, then it gives me a dedicated Waze display. I did plan on also running music and possibly the FM radio from the Galaxy however it runs on 4.1.2 and multi window isn’t available until 4.2.2, which I got working. BUT – then I ran into the notorious GPS issues and just couldn’t get Waze happening (even when I pair it to my LG Q6 – something wasn’t working). So I’m running Infamous ROM 4.1.2 on it, and until I fabricate the mount I’ve just velcro’d it under the head unit. A bit primitive but it’s working fine. You can control the head unit from using a Sony app on your phone which is great, but will probably maintain access somehow, maybe a sliding unit.
Oh and also, I’m doing this on a 2011 VW Golf Mk6…which lets you maintain steering wheel controls with headunits, but the hardware is not cheap. Can provide more detail if you like – but when it’s all sorted it will be a great little system.
Hello Everyone
I'm a happy user of an Android HU (PX5 8.0). My only complain is that running a navigation app there forces me to move my head down an stop watching at the road. So:
1) Is there a way to have 2 independent displays on Android? (not mirroring). It would be great if I can have all the controls, music, torque, on the main Android HU, while Waze is running on a smaller screen on my line of sight (a Raspberry Pi device, or old phone, or maybe one of those HeadsUp Display when they get lower on price). The connection could be wired or wireless.
2) I assume the answer for 1) is no In that case, What would be the "cleanest" way to mirror the screen to a (Android 8) phone? I see several options (apps, GoogleCast, Miracast... and WiFi or USB connected) and honestly I got lost. What I'm looking for is something that can auto-start on my Android HU and a client on the mobile phone that connects automatically when launched (I'll launch it via IFTTT or another once the Car Bluetooth gets connected)
What would be the best way to do that?
Thanks !!!

Hi
I've purchased a PX5 MTCD based Dasaita 10.2" unit for my Peugeot 208 2016 to get Android auto.
Quite pleased with the design and features overall but had a show stopper when I realised that even if I set the unit to mph in the control settings app the car would flip back over to kph on my speedometer when it started up. This was even though the setting stayed as mph in the control settings app. Indeed I'd have to flip back to khp then back again to mph to rectify.
I tried first of all upgrading to the latest version of my DCU software (2.99MTCE) and updated and tried different ROM's to no avail.
Anyway. I've found a sort of workaround I think which is to disable the canbus app in Android settings. This has stopped the speedo from updating and the steering wheel controls still work. Have I broken anything else though? Does anyone know what force stopping this app does?
Thanks
Dasaita provided me with the fix today. If you PM me, I will send you the file and instructions. Note that you do the update at your own risk.
Fix= new firmware? Android or MCU?
Fix is an update for the canbus. It's not an android firmware nor MCU update.
Hi @jamesbruton, how/where do I turn off the Canbus app?
