After one of the last OB update on the 5T, I can no longer properly hide the Navbar permanently. I use a third party gesture app.
I tried "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1", but it still leaves a white bar when the keyboard is open. The only way I got it to remove without it showing up is using the overscan method "wm overscan 0,0,0,-113"
The issue with this method is that in "immersive" apps, you can't use gestures from the bottom since the navbar is cutoff. Any solution to this?

Someone got to permanent hide the softkeys on nougat? I've already tried putting "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" at the end of build.prop as I always did in my other phones, but that don't seen to work. I've tried too using a lot of overlays to set the softkeys height to 0, but with no sucess also. Besides that, I've tried to decompile de framework-res.apk and modify the navbar height value to 0, what gives me no navigation bar but no status bar too.
Any another way that will work? Am I missing something? I really want to use lmt and hide those screen space eaters
Just use https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-custom-navigation-bar-customize-t3590967, there is an option to hide the navigation bar

Unfortunately a swipe up will bring the buttons, and I want to really disable it in order to use lmt on the bottom of the screen

You ever figure this out..this has got to be the most annoying thing about this phone.
I use Assistive touch app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.assistivetouch and have a floating button which helps me to navigate. One tap for back, double tap to home and hold for recent. It's quite useful and convenient. It's always there at the thumb position and easy to reach. I use Nougat/Oreo Quick Settings app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.simonesestito.ntiles and created a custom tile for immersive mode to hide navbars only, yes if you swipe from bottom you'll find the navbar there but i don't need to cuz I use the floating button all the time. That build prop command works for me, I've tried that earlier but i choose the immersive mode because if Assistive touch crases (which never happened till now) I can use the navbar as backup. The command you're using is right, I don't know what's the issue but you can reset your device and then try if it works.
Is there any way to hide the nav bar while in split screen mode? I have my nav bar auto hide all of the time but when using two apps side by side, it reappears and there is no longer an option to hide it.
Am I missing the logic behind this? Surely when using two apps on the one screen, that extra space is even more important?
After the Android Oreo update, the gesture options allow you to get rid of the navigation bar and use swipe gestures to perform functions such as "back" "background windows" and "home". However entering split screen mode from this stage is my concern.
I recently switched to using the OnePlus gestures on my Pixel 2 XL to try out some new gestures, and I hid my nav bar using both the XDA Navigation Gestures app as well as Hide Nav Bar (recommended by the OnePlus gestures app). Using both methods, I've noticed that once the nav bar disappears, only half of toast notifications (or whatever they're called, the small notifications that appear on the bottom of the screen and disappear quickly) appear on screen, while half of it is offscreen. The same thing happens to the volume bar while in landscape mode, which basically makes it useless since I can't see anything.
Has anyone seen this before? And is there any other way of hiding the nav bar (so that it doesn't come up even with a swipe up) so that I can see everything like normal? It seems like these notifications/volume adjuster/other elements are dependent on having a certain border at the bottom.. Is there any way to emulate that? Thanks!
I can't seem to reproduce the problem for toasts (tested using Discord for the toast that appears when downloading an image), but I do have the volume bar in landscape mode problem. Is there a specific app you notice cut-off toasts in? Would be nice to know if there is a solution.
Hello. I bought this fone a couple days ago and it's been a good experience, despite some different usage comming from a Z2P. EXCEPT I can't find a way to hide the soft keys for good. Yes, i have enabled the "Hide navigation bar" under display settings BUT they keep showing when the keyboard is enabled. I'm hating this. Even more when the color won't change and stay white no matter the theme I apply (I like dark interfaces). Also, I've enable the gestures and the keys are just useless. It was possible on the Z2P with the fingerprint gestures. No keys at all.
Is there a way to hide the soft keys FOR GOOD on the Zen 5Z???
Thank you!
This is just the way Asus has chosen to implement navigation gestures. Can't do anything other than complain to Asus and maybe they'll fix it in the Pie update.
You can hide them with adb. Check YouTube
Remove NavBar Gesture Pill (and more) for Pixel 6 Pro
Update: This only works if you are rooted now, since the January 2022 patch. Hi guys, I've seen several posts asking how to remove the Gesture Pill. It's easy if you're rooted, but it's also possible if you're not rooted. Here is a step by step...
forum.xda-developers.com
Hi all!
The above link is from the Pixel 6 Pro forum. In it is a non-root method of using Fabricated Overlays (new to Android 12) to hide/remove either the navigation pill bar (thus, retaining default gestures without taking up screen space for the bottom pill) or the three button navigation bar (what I did to enable custom gestures, such as FNG). I'd like to spread the word in case anybody here is interested in trying it out on their Android 12-based custom ROMs.
For reference, I'm on Arrow OS 12.0 and got it working well enough, though this method also hides the pills that custom gesture apps provide. I currently use FNG to have three bottom swiped gestures (back, home, recents) and a right side swipe gesture (brings up my Panels apps and widgets) while also using Bottom Quick Settings. All work perfectly!
Is it normal for my fabricated overlays to be reset everytime I reboot ?
Anyway to make them persistent?
Thanks !

From what I can tell, the January security patch for AOSP roms has closed being able to use Fabricated Overlays to affect the navigation bar.
Before that, it was normal for the overlays to remain after reboot. I guess it depends on what OS you're using.
