4G frequency - Canada - Xiaomi Mi 6 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone
I'm moving to Canada in a couple of months and I was wondering if my Mi 6 LTE will function properly over there...
I notice it doesn't have band 12 but I also see that a lot of carriers use 2600mhz... I'm going to Toronto area... Can I survive only with 2600mhz or do I need other frequencies too?
Thanks!

You won't have problems, just use a compatible carrier.

[Q] for tmobile users, how to tell if GNEX is using 1700/2100 HSPA+ or 1900mhz?

I am hearing news that tmobile is converting the old PCS band 1900mhz to HSPA+, which means all AT&T 3G only phone would suddenly work at Tmobile. Being a pentaband HSPA phone, I know it won't matter as much, but it would still be cool if I can see which frequency I am on right now, and see if there was a improvement of coverage. Any apps or settings that already does that?
Knowledge that they're doing this has been out for a good 6 months now. I dont know if there's a way for you to check, but I wouldn't expect to be seeing this till the end of the year. They have hardly started to move this 1900mhz spectrum over from EDGE to HSPA+.

Network Modernization

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew what network modernization meant for us as phone buyers. I am really interested in picking up an S3, but want to continue to use my web2go/tzones plan. I was considering buying either an AT&T or international version and saw http://blog.t-mobile.com/2012/06/14/fast-progress-on-4g-network-modernization/ this article and was wondering the implications. Will the 1900 replace the 1700 in HSPA+? Does that mean phones that work on AT&T(1900/2100) will now work on Tmobile(1700/2100)?
Thanks for any info you guys can provide!
That is correct. Once the refarm is complete we will be able to use phones with the international att bands at full speeds on tmobile. 1700/2100 will be used for LTE

I would not get the AT&T or International version just yet. It is quite likely that you will experience slow speeds due to lack of proper frequency support at this time. Eventually T-Mobile's HSPA will be moved over to the 1900 band, however, this is a transition, not a on/off type of thing. There will still be HSPA on 1700 bands for well over a year from now, probably more like two. I think it will be a mix of 1900/1700 bands for HSPA in a couple of years, with LTE in the 1700 band exclusively. So, if you get the AT&T version now, you should hope that your city or region is one of the first for the transition, and don't plan to have good support while traveling. If you are on T-Mobile, you will have to choose great HSPA support now with no LTE ever (T-Mobile version), or no HSPA support now, and maybe some mixed LTE and HSPA support down the road (AT&T version; no LTE on International version).
I would personally get the T-Mobile version if I were you. LTE is not going away, and there will be plenty of LTE phones on T-Mobile in a couple of years. But HSPA has great speeds now, and will still have decent speeds in a couple of years.
The T-Mobile version already supports HSPA+ over 1900 MHz..so it's ready if you're planning on using it on Tmobile.
Just when I thought about dumping T-Mobile, looks like they might be heading in the right direction.

[Q] Devices from different countries get 4G band restrictions?

Are there any differences in the LTE support of N7105 bought in different countries?
Given that not all network providers support the same LTE bands, do the cellphones they sell get restricted to work only under their specific frequencies?
I am planning on buying a N7105 from TMN in Portugal, but I will be moving to the US for a PhD course after a couple months, and I would like my cellphone to not suffer any 4G speed losses due to connectivity restrictions in the device.
I have tried googling this, but could not come to any precise conclusion . Can anybody help?
Thank you in advance!
The N7105 has 800/1800/2600 MHz LTE capabilities, I believe. This is the same for every model sold.
On AT&T in the US, 3G will work just fine. I'm not sure you'll be able to use 4G, though, since they use different bands for LTE.
EDIT: Yes, AT&T uses 700 and 1700 MHz for LTE. The maximum you'd get on their network is HSPA+.

[Q] Question: Galaxy S Tab 10.5 Wifi LTE USA/International

Here may be another stupid question, But Not even Samsung them selfs on the USA Department couldnt answer this, So let me explain a few things before I ask, so that you may understand what I may be talking about..
I have 2 Samsung galaxy S Tab's 10.5
One is 32gb Wifi Bought from Best Buy (T800)
The other is 16gb Wifi LTE International (T805) Unlocked.
From what I understand the International version will not support 4G on T-Mobile or most any carrier in USA do to the supported Signal.
What I want to know is, Whats the diffrents between the International and the Local USA version when it comes to the LTE. I cant find anything that tells me what I want to know.
From what I can see, is the signals ranges are the same as the USA version. but maybe I am reading it wrong,
When I check out the hardware with diffrent apps that support that. it pretty much shows the two being the same except for a few things that dont seem to matter.
So to make a long story short,, I just want to know what the diffrents is between the LTE Local USA and the LTE International version.

1. I believe the USA specific versions are voice crippled so you cannot make voice calls.
2. According to here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_US#Radio_frequency_spectrum_chart
The frequencies supported by T-Mob USA for LTE are....
1700/2100 MHz LTE 4G In Service/Building out Covers 250 million POPs as of October, 2014
700 MHz Block A LTE 4G A-block rollout has begun, and several devices already support this frequency.
1900 MHz PCS LTE 4G In Service/Building out Primarily used for a quick rollout of rural LTE as sites contain a pre-existing GSM antenna
3. According to here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_S_10.5
The frequencies supported by the International 10.5 Tab S are
800/850/900/1800/2100/2600
As you can see the only 'common' frequency is the 2100 Mhz set which 'should' cover the bulk of Urban USA however there may be specific signalling that T-Mob require to allow devices to access that frequency.
Hope this helps
If you have LTE version you be able to call through google hangouts dialer. I do it on n7 LTE. And the app.

I want to thank you very much. I really did search around to try and understand. but when it comes to the carrier LTE stuff, I no nothing about it.
Yea T-Mobile told me the only plan they have for tablets are Data and no voice. that really sucks. I dont understand that one. I have an
LG G3 that has T-Mobile. I can use the hotspot on that if needed.. the chances that im going to leave my house with this Tablet are very slim. so I can just stay with the wifi.

US carrier support

Hello, I'm looking at the Global version of the Redmi Note 5 (Basically the pro. Referred to as the AI Dual camera on GSM arena) and I'll be using it in the US on Mint Mobile. Mint is a T-Mobile MVNO and I'm not sure how LTE support will be on this. If anyone has any info on this that would be great. I believe Mint mainly uses B4 and B12 but I could be wrong. I've been looking around and found mixed responses of it having good carrier support stateside and others saying it won't work.

I can confirm that the phone will WORK on B4 (1700mHz/2100mHz) and B5 if you live in the greater Myrtle Beach area. (Acquired from SunCom back in the late 2000's). I don't know if your area has B5. On your existing phone, get LTE Discovery from the Play Store and sample your most common areas first to see what bands are most prominent. Being where I live, the phone mostly uses Band 5 over 4 because of the lower freq; able to reach tougher places where the higher freq B4 can't reach.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'll give that a download and travel around. Since posting I did discover my current phone supports the same bands. So I'm less worried. :good:
Lte works on band 4, but not band 12 on T-Mobile. But, for me band 4 is enough, if I don't get lte the device will switch to 2g. 3g straight up does not work for me on T-Mobile, although I've heard that T-Mobile does not use 3g anymore in the first place.
All in all, for me lte works just as well as my previous phone (zte zmax pro)

I can see that. When B4 and B5 don't work the phone just switches to 2G but without internet so basic voice and sms still works. about 70% of the time after it switches to 2G it'll tap onto HSPA+ (3.5G, coined 4G) and I got that for a while until LTE reconnects. Rinse and repeat until I have to leave to go somewhere.
