What is the best Lenovo vibe k5 ROM for game perfomance? - Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi guys, whats up?
I have a k5 vibe since 2016 and in the meantime I have already changed the ROM of the device so many times, I am currently on android 8.1 AOSP, but I would like to ask your opinion:
What is the best combination of ROM + Mods (kernel, etc) for the purpose of having a good performance in games ( no lagging, smooth)
Thanks for reading!

I'd go with DotOS 2.4 with couple of Magisk modules, nothing more. It is fairly simple OS with less overhead. I wouldn't use any kind of "themes" or stupid stuff like "memory cleaners".

I would suggest to stay on Nougat for performance, battery and stability. Mokee ROM seems nice and updated

Have you tried other ROMs, is there any others worth to check?
I'm running AOKP nougat but so far there's always some minor issue. For instance AOKP Oreo is great and neat but for some unknown reason I can't connect to the 4G network, or for the matter any mobile network with it.
AOKP nougat on the other hand works fine including the mobile network, but for some reason Pokemon go doesn't recognize the GPS, other apps do just pkm doesn't, I don't really care about it since I don't actually play it but I tried anyway because it's the first time in a long time that I'm using a phone that can run the app

I've been for some time on the LineageOS 14.1 build of harry8242 you can find on his AFH. It has the June security patch and has the hability to disable a SIM card.

I am using Resurrection remix 8.1 official june. Playing Pubg was smooth without any Lags but the battery and heating was hot. So i installed magisk GPU TURBO after which heating was low gaming was smooth and battery was long lasting. Antutu score of 55279, GPU 8658.

same question here

I am using Aosp-CAF and it is really smooth without any heating or lags without any custom kernel. The ROM is pure AOSP without customizations so if you want to customise you have to use Xposed.

Here is the link for Resurrection remix: https://forum.xda-developers.com/k5-plus/development/rom-resurrection-remix-v6-0-0-t3749144

can you post a link for june rom

I suggest mokee ROM because I play games.
1)flash mokee ROM
2)flash gapps(nano or pico)
3)flash magisk or SuperSU
4)flash snapdragon camera working very well.
5)after successful installation :
a. Install Ex kernal manager app
b. Disable core control, enable all 8 cores, set clock speed as you want but carefully don't let your CPU to cross 75°C for safety.
c. For GPU turbo, goto developer option and enable 2D GPU render.
d. Done now try games.
If you want proof then subway surf is best game to compare smoothness of ROMs for Vibe k5. Subway surf is lagging in all ROMs include aex 4.6, RR 5.8.4 but not lagging in MOKEE ?
Note: you can't pass safety net in mokee ROMs. So you can't use apps/games like Pokemon Go, Tez but no major bugs present in this ROM and VOLTE present but VOLTE icon not shows in status bar.

Linage os 15.1

Turning on Forced 4x msaa and keeping smallest width at dp 360 under developer options make noticeable performance improvement while paying pubg. I'm using aex 4.6.

give me the link

There is no thread on Mokee because it's a Chinese ROM, they did not post it here so nobody else can or has the right to (forum and Mokee rules).
I made a feedback thread in another part of the forum.

Come on you only have 2 ROMs left to try !
And the problem is that "stable" is quite subjective : for me VoLTE does not matter but SIM disabling is very important, for others it's the other way around. So if VoLTE is buggy I don't care, but perhaps you would ?
If you use a lot of video apps (Instagram, YouTube...) or games you will perhaps find Oreo short on battery consumption and "not stable enough", but as I do mainly phone, SMS and mail I will find it very nice...and so on.
So give it a try and stop asking for help whenever you are facing a problem and do it like a grown up !

[HELP]Choosing a CM/AOSP ROM

Hello dear community. I want to change to a cm/AOSP ROM but i dont know who to Choosing. I want a Stable rom with good battery life. And If You want guys , please share you'r kernel setting for best battery life. Thanks ( i have a medium usage with FB,messenger,Instagram,YouTube) not games.
Hey, when i use cm or aosp based roms i always come back to aicp because of features like aokps fling navigation bar. But all CM based roms will have same bugs as cm/lineage itself
I always use the kernel wich comes with the rom and i dont know about kernel tweaks and settings
This is a real personal choice. I use only MM based ROMs because of the issues all N ROMs currently have. I hope that they get those issues fixed and encryption will work some day but atm this all is a no go for me to go to N.
Regarding battery life there are 2 main components regardless of any ROM you choose:
1) use MSM hotplug (enable that with the app kernel adiutor)
The kernel needs to support that which is maybe not the case for all ROMs but you can always flash llama kernel which supports that
2) display
It makes a dramatically difference how much you increase the max brightness level of the display
There are thousands of other things especially logd process and Google services which could drain battery and there are thousands of tweaks out there trying to give you more battery life but my personal experience is that the above 2 things are the most important ones.

See that is just one more reason why Nougat on this device is not production ready ... Imho..
Edit:
I recommend RR 5.7 + llama + greenify (donation edition ) + Xposed to enable advanced greenify settings
You could also give slim rom MM a try in general forum..

You can try resurrection remix 5.7.4 mm I think is full and more stable rom.
For kernel I am comfiest too and try to found the good settings too.
Don't use N roms are not ready yet for me.
Good luck.

its not stable as MM. and has lot of bugs. no video recording unless you select api2. no xposed and its no longer CM its LAOS. and they building again like they started to build from scratch so i believe.
That's my question, apart from video recording I don't see any bugs. And they don't start from scratch, it's just cm with different name.

I just followed the cm thread since a while and saw issues but I don't remember all of them. there were issues with screen lock with f2fs with camera with Xposed and some more. What's left is my feeling that I don't trust in N for the moment..

What Is The Best Rom For Performance

Can someone please tell me what rom is the best for performance..
I dont care about battery..i just want to make this device faster without lag..
Can you all suggest me what rom ,apps, mod, or trick to make this device run smoother without lag..
Just use the stock rom for the least amount of headche. This is a low end phone by todays standards and I only use it as a backup phone for testing. It overheats easily and the cpu will throttle. Some (many?) custom roms don't do a good job of thermal management and the phone will reboot or bootloop.
Top roms (all nougat builds), I personally use DOTS and I've been using it for months.
- AICP
- COLT OS
- DOTS ROM

Stock MIUI is very bad for battery life and sometimes lags as well.
What I normally do is freeze some of the problem built in apps manually using the paid version if Titanium backup to improve things.

I feel apps like greenify, lspeed, ssdboost won't really solve the issues properly with stock MIUI battery drain and create more spyware risks. All of those apps can access the internet and if you use 2FA apps or banking apps, those apps can read keystrokes and seed data (since the hardware backed encryption/keystore is not working properly for redmi1s) and send it off through the internet.

But now Currently downloading 3 other rom, LinageOS14, ColtOS and DotOS..im gonna try using each of them..
ColtOS, Resurrection Remix, Mokee are based on Cynogenmod/Lineage so they are going to be similar and may all have the same bugs of LO.

I haven't used MIUI in a long time until recently but I found MIUI 8 to be acceptable after some tweaking. I uninstalled some spyware/bloatware - analytics, msa, mi* and the battery life was reasonably ok. MIUI 9 came out after I switched to LO.
Generally MIUI is going to be the most stable with the best performance for normal use but the battery life is poor before some tweaking. The cpu is slow and overheats easily in any case so there is only so much any rom can do.
i use AICP,n no problem until now..
HIi,
Read my post on DOT OS regarding ROM performance.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...cial-dotos-t3707240/post76388652#post76388652
I feel better now with lineageos microG + magisk v16. battery look better cause no google play service that full running in the background , and I can get some tweaks that I like in magisk moduls
"MIUI7" was the last time I used stock rom, and I don't want to back even MIUI9 (based kitkat)
still using XenonHD rom one week, and stable enough for daily use
Resurection remix and DOT OS are the best roms for redmi 1s

Giving my Z2 to Mom, How to make it fool proof? Suggest ROM and Apps Details inside

The requirements are simple – everything should just work fine. Requirements include games like Subway Surfers and such, browsing the web, YouTube and working camera. For me I am getting a Mi A1 or Redmi Note 5 Pro (I don’t like MIUI though but for the price I can compromise and it seems the best choice, there are no other options at that price, please suggest if you have other device in mind. Also in future I can Install ROMs on Note 5 Pro also, so yeah).
Below are my few ideas:
Stock ZUI EN 2.0.133 ST because it is more stable than Nougat variant. With ZUI I am planning on installing the Material Notification Shade app to fix the disappearing notifications icons issue but in my testing I found it to be using almost 50% of the battery, therefore I am scrapping ZUI idea. Also ZUI feels a bit cluttered too. If the notification shade app can be made to consume less battery then I will go with it though. I know ZUI with Oreo is around the corner but it's ZUI after all.
I am currently using AEX 5.2. It is quite stable but has good overnight battery drain, like ~15% sometimes. Yesterday I slept at 3 am with 82% and woke up with 68% battery at 10 am. Also there is the camera problem. I have been using the Modded GCAM and it is GREAT! Only problem is the videos, unusable slow motion and normal videos come dark and they are unusable as well. BUT for videos I use OnePlus’ camera app and it is good but I can’t see mom using camera without getting confused So I am ready to forgo the camera2api magic and install a non-frills camera.
So for Camera please suggest an all-rounder workable camera application that I can install in the system or as priv-app and also any suggestion for the battery drain.
I am looking at some other ROMs as well. I want to test some ROMs that just work. I have been hearing about ViperOS and H2OS for some time that they are great. I just need a ROM that will work, no bells and whistles needed. So please Suggest some ROMs.
If you have any other suggestion then please let me know.

I did use 4.6 way back and here is what i found if i recall:
In notification shade when you swipe the notification it stutters.
I don't remember about the heating issue though.
It was stuttery in general now that i remember, i had to flash Heliox Kernel for the heating issue and there was no improvement in the performance.
4.4 was quite good if i remember it correctly.
Anyways thanks i think i might revisit this ROM

I have to say, just ask your mum about her preferences of what she likes to use out of the phone.
And install barebone AOSP-ish rom with adblock/popup block/youtube ad-block on it. Then get her apps installed and she'll be happy. No complexities whatsoever.
Our elders aren't picky as us , my mum is using an LG G3 and its been on fulmics rom from day one, and it works perfect for her because all she does is follow up daily news, youtube, browse some internet, watch some episodes and thats it.
Also a 5.5" or 6" screen is ideal for our elders because of good visiblity of text etc.

Adaway for adblock (it blocks adfly links too)

I'm using the rom as it is, with its own kernel (it's heliox btw). The rest is up to you, I'm using gapps pico, magisk just to have root and remove ads with adaway and gcam mod
just use viper os 3.1.1 with heliox 10/15 ..
Nitrogen OS Would be the Best! But there isn't any solution to Dark Videos as yet. Still you can use Proshot or Footej Camera for the Job.

Need ROM suggestions

I play a lot of PUBG mobile. So please suggest me some ROMs that have good performance and battery life and don't have issues with touch or audio via the jack. Camera and customisation features don't have high priority
just wanted to know the same.. I was on 9.2.13 for a couple of weeks and upgraded to masik 2.2 miui 10 based... Let me tell u that miui 9.2.13 was like a god of battery backup and pubg ....and now this masik has **** backup but its smooth
I would recommend Bootleggers ROM - a personal favorite. I haven't tried all the ROMs but this ROm has just enough customizations and smoothness to make it the best for me.
I love Pixel Experience. Almost stable, no need to install gapps and mi a1 camera preinstalled ?

So far, ive been tried a bunch of custom rom on whyred like RR, AOSIP, AEX, PIXEL with custom or stock kernel, and all of them consume more battery than MIUI when playing PUBG
If you want long lasting battery when play PUBG without pluging charger to the phone when play, just stick with MIUI, it can hold up to 6hr playing PUBG compared to 5hr when using custom ROM. Ive tested this using 100% mobile data, not wifi. Maybe more SOT given up to 1hr when using WiFi
I think MIUI kernel is the point why the battery is so good on it but lack of good performance when gaming compared to custom. Maybe thats the reason.
Till now, i still testing on different custom rom and kernel to find some setting that close to MIUI battery backup.
So i suggest just stick with MIUI if you want more long lasting battery when play PUBG.
If you dont want audio or touch issues, use MIUI 9.5.17 instead the other. No ARB, loud audio when play PUBG, good battery backup too.
Hope you understand what im saying, i dont speak english very well.

Mi A1 camera is ready to use and fully functional. I have not made a comparison but surely gcam is better for other reasons and no, you need to install magisk yourself.

Hope you understand what im saying, i dont speak english very well.

Already tried it for a couple days. Good battery backup close to the official MIUI rom. Little bit better battery backup on official MIUI. Need more days to test it with masik.

Best Nougat/Oreo based treble/non-treble rom with VoLTE

Can anybody please suggest a good rom which supports VoLTE and has decent battery backup. I've installed AospExtended Oreo but the battery life is pathetic which i never expected. I don't know why but i found Nougat to be more stable than Oreo (I'm using Oreo only because of GCam stability). Please now if you can suggest any rom.
Thanks in advance

Try Bootleggers , The discharge rate is so OP on normal usage , but when u start playing games ! It starts sucking battery very very fast !

It would be helpful for others to know few details about your setup.
Which version of AEX do you have ?
Any special Mods you have installed ?
Which Kernel are you using ?
What is the SoT reported by AEX default bat settings and 3rd party apps like AccuBattery
Have you checked the top most battery consuming apps or service ? What are they ?
What is your usage pattern, are you a heavy gamer ?
Secondly, never ever judge battery backup of a ROM with few hours or usage. Make sure to use the device for few days. Best would be commenting about battery after a week of usage (10/12 charge cycles).
Thirdly, same setup may offer completely different backup to two different user. For example a heavy gamer running longer PubG sessions may end up with 3 hours and 30 mins of SoT where as with same device and software, a person only using the device for phone calls and text may end up 7 hours (even more) of SoT !!

Ya you're right. But I've used it for around 15-20 cycles. No mods installed or any custom kernel. The mechanism of checking battery stats is not good on this rom. It shows the breakdown of stats and not complete analysis.
I think my network was the real culprit plus the temperature in the area i visited.
And for gaming, i never use my phone for gaming (I've a PC for that, even PUBG). I'm a moderate user. I used Greenify the same way i used in Nougat AICP. Battery drain was considerably very less.
The rom has got mixed reviews on sot...so i think this may be a 50-50. Anyway i want a rom with more features...

Its been long since I haven't tried any non Treble build so I wont be able to comment on that, but on Treble, RR 6.1 having the most customization options by far. This version of RR is very similar to AiCP UI wise, so as an previous AiCP user, you may feel comfortable. The main different UI wise is at the ROM extra, huge number of settings to play with.
Thanks.

Thanks. I think i will have to install a treble rom as it is the next step and today or tomorrow, all roms will be treble compatible.
And you're right, AICP has the most customisations..i just loved the nougat base of it as i used it for a very long time...

This rom is so much customisable. I couldn't even switch off my second sim in previous AospExtended Oreo rom... Thanks a lot. And VoLTE is working too on BB 1.70
Hi Guys. I'm sick of my zui and want a minimalistic ROM with minimal features but good battery life and performance.I don't like switching ROMs too often so stability is a big deal.Any recommendations?? I've rooted other devices but never rooted my z2 plus so need advice. Please advice which ROM to use.

It's popular but better not try a treble ROM
Its a lot of hassle and performance is a little low compared to non treble ROMs
Airtel VoLTE?
