Phone disconnected while flashing firmware using qfil!!! - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

hi.
here is the sequence of events that happened.
1) i flashed the stock firmware of zuk z2 plus INDIAN version 6.0, using QFIL.
2) Intending to RElock the bootloader i Went on to flash the 7.0 Stock firmware using Qfil. (Not to mention ive done these a 1000 times)
3) just when it was amidst the flashing process, because of a slight shake, the cable got loose and disconected.
4) i got the Download Failed Message in the qfil Flasher, and i found the phone WASNT detected anymore in the QFIL app!!
5) i cant get it to fastboot, cannot boot it up, cannot get it switched on or off, which is pretty sensible considering there is no OS.
6) basically trying to update from, 6.0 to 7.0 , USING QFIL has been my mistake.
Now, The things ive tried:-
1) tying to connnect the phone to edl mode using the volume and power buttons,
2) tried connecting to charger for any different sign.
3) All that the phone responds is a VIBRATION, no lights no nothing!!!
i googled up, what to do when phone disconnects amidst the flashing process.
any signs of hope.. of getting it into the edl mode, is my only optiion.
i cant boot the phone up obviously, EDL mode is my only go.
if i connect it to the pc...no sign of any connections have been detected.!
What to Do.
Please help.

thank you fr your reply
ive tried every possible combination of the buttons to try to get the phone to edl mode, fastboot mode.
none of which seem to work.
my motto offlate has been to just switch off the device . idk y but it keeps vibrating every 20 seconds. but with no sign of lights or screen logo.?
if i get it off, i can try going to edl mode as u had suggested

Few weeks ago I did this same mistake while I'm was flashing. Helpful for me was this edl cable. Now everything working again.

Same Mistake in the sense...did your phone dissconect while flashing the firmware using QFIL???
IF so then How did you switch the phone off?
I had mentioned that my phone neither switched off nor turned on, n it was vibrating at 30 second intervals....was it the same case with you ?
if so, cud you pleaase be more elaborate with your procedure to revive it

Dudu just slight cut the cable and then using needle pass the needle through balck and green wore and the attach cable to the dead phone. Detection happens

Yes. I was flashing ZUI 2.5 by QFIL. After ~1 minute I unplugged my phone accidentally. I have this same problem. I haven't any picture on display and my phone vibrated cyclically.

Buddy You seriously have given a ray of hope to me....im gonna do the edl cable thing n update here.
jus out of doubt, the cheap type c cables wud be sufficient to intertwine the cables n get the edl mode on right?

I did this on original cable, but probably anything will be good.

just use deep flash method. Same thing happened with me, I literally died that day because my phone was barely a month old. Buy a cheap type c cable and please intersect correctly and don't worry if 2-3 copper wires get cut. or if you have micro USB cable buy a micro USB to type c connector.

Whoa dude, you shouldn't have done that. There was no need to disassemble and even if you did you should have watched some disassembly videos or guides for the device. I personally haven't disassembled it yet but after seeing the disassembly video, I think the wire that you have cut off will cost you a whole frame replacement if you go to the shop. Here's the link to the flex cable you'll need-

aliexpress-https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32813835756.html#ampf=undefined
You'll have to disassemble whole mobile or if you're planning to get it done from someone else.

Well and truly bricked - desperate

Hi all,
I desperate need help. After an unsuccessful radio flash, my Desire won't even turn on. No response from any buttons or lights. Here's how it happened:
I'm relatively new to Android. I recently bought a Desire, to replace my Touch HD, which has seen about 25 different WM ROMs, over it's life.
I successfully rooted my Desire and had tried a few ROMs. I was sitting on the MoDaCo Custom ROM r17, which was all customised and running perfectly. I'd even used ADB to successfully update my wifi config to connect to my company LEAP-authenticated network.
I decided to flash the latest radio (32.37.00.32U_4.06.00.16_2), from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464
I entered Recovery using 'Fake-Flash';
I started flashing the radio image;
All the good messages were scrolling down the screen;
I kept one eye on the phone while I worked on my laptop;
I saw a message saying something to the effect of "Finished installing radio..." (sorry, I don't remember the exact wording);
The blue recovery menu had returned, with 'reboot device' as the default selection;
As I clicked the trackball, I saw another message appear under the 'finished' messages, which said "Writing rad " I guess it didn't have time to print the whole message, when I selected reboot.
The screen went blank then a graphic appeared in the middle (where the recovery exclamation mark and triangle usually appear), of a software box with a curved yellow arrow over it and the android icon peeking out from behind it. I left it for a while (already had that sinking feeling) then pressed the power button. It switched off and stayed there.
Since then, nothing that I've tried has received any response. Various combination's of button pushes, USB connection, removed SIM, SD and battery...nothing, not even an LED.
I've searched and haven't been able to find any solutions to this particular situation. Can anyone help, or am I totally bricked?
Regards, PF.
The radio update does 2 reboots to install it. The software box with yellow arrow is the default graphic used by the fake flash recovery as far as I know so that wasn't any real problem.
I know this might sound silly, but is the battery charged?

No question is silly under this circumstance!
Yes. I'd just taken it off overnight charge. 100%. If I plug the USB cable in now, there is no response from the LED.
Leave the charger plugged into it for about 5 minutes and see if there is any response to it. With the usb bricks it would take nearly 5 mins to register and the led to light up.
I know this isn't a usb brick, but I've not seen anyone with a failed radio flash that has caused the phone to totally die to the extent that it won't even switch on.
I take it you have tried the usual power and volume button combos etc?
I suppose if there is no quick fix for this, the fact that it's totally dead may go in your favour if you try to get it repaired/replaced under warranty

ok. The charger has been plugged in for 35 minutes and still no response.
Also don't want to sound patronizing, but have you taken the battery out and turned on with the back button helld?
Ignore me, just reread your original post.
the procedure u said sounds rite, thats whats ment to happen, when you flash a radio, only other thing that comes to mind is, sure the radio u flashed was for the gsm desire?
so what youre saying is that your phone simply doesnt turn on, not for a second?
if you press the power button NOTHING happens?
are you sure your charger isnt broken?
have you tried charging it through your pc?
have you seen if its recognised through adb devices on your computer?
have you tried a new battery?
if your phone is simply dead, it must be a hardware problem, in which case you can probably send it off for repair and not have your warranty void as the whole phone will need to be replaced. they cant identify if you have voided your warranty if your device doesnt turn on.

Right first time. It won't turn on at all. It doesn't react in any way to any of the button combinations I'm aware of from rooting and flashing it. Nothing happens at all.
I live in an HTC household, so I've tried a number of chargers and cables, including the PC's USB port. I haven't tried another battery...but the incumbent battery was holdng a good charge and was 100% at the time. What's more, I remember that the phone can run on the charger without the battery.
Not surprisingly, adb devices shows no connected devices.
I think everyone is right, it's back to HTC. I *hope* you're right that they cover it under warranty. I'm going on the weekend, so I'll let you all know the result.
Thanks to all for your help.
I think you can try to remove battery, leave the phone with no battery for 30 minutes and then try to insert battery and connect to usb without power it on to check if LED (and than the phone) is revived.
I had an Acer Liquid that gave me same problem, pratically when a flash on the radio go wrong, the device go in "protection mode". You must also check on the net if there is a protection mode on Desire too, and if there is a button combination to unlock it. I repeat: i just giving an idea becouse the same problem happened for me on an Acer Liquid, so i'm not sure if it's the same for the Desire.
Good Luck
Maybe a usb brick? No usb is no charging. So when you didn't had a full battery, it may be went wrong on that.
Try another battery, if you can get to one.

Ok i didn't know that.
If the phone doesn't turn on at all, you can maybe try sending it back to the shop for replacement. Chances are, they won't be able to know what happened, so you can pretend it just stopped working.
If it gets back to HTC, they probably won't bother to figure out what's wrong with the phone and just give you a replacement. Otherwise, they'll just send you the phone back and you won't have lost much (maybe postage costs?).

Thanks for the suggestion. I left the battery out overnight. Then tried to activate it (all the usual button combos) with:
Battery out, USB cable plugged in;
Battery in, USB unplugged;
Battery in, USB in.
I scoured the 'net for anything on protection mode for the Desire...no luck. If there is one, it hasn't been posted yet.
I would just act stupid and try to return it under warranty!
I think it should be ok to RMA this, if its completely bricked there is no way of them knowing that you tried a different radio.

Yes, if it's totally bricked then just send it back to HTC and they will change it with no problems just same as acer done with my Liquid
All's well that ends well
Good news...
The HTC service centre were kind enough to replace my 'faulty' handset.
Re-flashed with r19 and radio updated (patiently) successfully.
Thanks all for your support.
Nice one. Glad it worked out for you

Z5P bricked after 3 vibrations reset... No chance for repair service nor warranty(UB)

Hello!
Well, I had the really bad luck of a very bad hard brick... my xperia was on low battery (around 15%) the last time that I use it, then around 20min later I got it and try to check, but screen didn't turn on, and the Led was blinking White color, since I deal in the past with this issues (around 3 or 4 times), I connect the usb cable to power adapter and simply did the reset button under sim flap, and my phone made the normal 3 vibrations, so, I hope that everything was fine, however, after that, I simply try turn on it, but never happen, No led of charge, no more vibrations and no power on, no signal of operation at all... so, I test remove and reconnect the usb cable and nothing, so, I try make another sim flap reset button test, but at this time and until now, no more 3 vibrations response and nothing else... and now, after reading some many posts, and try everything suggested in other posts about I really sad and hope for some help or feedback, if somebody may help...
By now I tested on my windows 7 notebook, and at first the phone was not recognized by drivers however it shows the bad message QHUSB_BULK error usb device, in later attempts, I made after some buttons tests looking for some response I got the phone change the messague, at the moment of connect it with usb cable to my pc, it was recognized as SEMC Flash Device... In both cases windows didnt allow or recognized for a proper driver installation....
But after other attempts, I lost the SEMC Flash Device status, and by now not remember what I did to get this mode or if it may be of some help...
By now I am really worry, since I got my phone from Hong Kong, and it came and worked fine until today, but in my country there is no service for this model since it not still on sale at official dealers/ carriers, and I believe that I don't have warranty service (since is an international purchase and not on local dealer) and also because I Unlock Bootloader for getting root and Sony records that information for warranty purposes (since I unlocked BL, I installed TWRP then I installed the romAUR custom rom and I upgraded it to 1.25 version with last kernel available from the same rom thread but thas was a month ago and phone worked fine after all custom rom installation)...
By now, I would like to ask if may be possible please, some guidance and help...
1) I was made attempts by the last 6 hours after brick without luck, and I wonder and suppose that the battery may be very low, but since I don't get any charging led, I wonder if by left It connected to the original sony charger with original sony cable (almost new and working both, and also tested both with other cell), my bricked phone may still get some charge on the battery.... somebody konws if possible to charge an xperia bricked?... I wonder/hope about that, if may be a charged battery may help in got the 3 vibes reset again that I hope may fix the issue and return my phone to boot...
2) Since seems that i don't have chance to get repair service on warranty since I unlocked my phone (and in my country the cost service for such model could easily be so high as almost a new phone), and also low chance for a warranty replacement from seller, I wonder about take the chance of open it and try to remove battery connector at a last resort since , I may suppose that this may allow for clear internal electrical charged registers of system and may allow me for a reset, but I wonder if the white flap sim buttons really did the same, that is simply open the battery connections, but, I doubt about that, since in this procedure the cel made 3 vibes and the energy for the vibes need to come form a connected battery...
3) May somebody with more luck, knowledge and experience, may suggest or share some help or advice about this issue...
I am a long time cell phone fan and long time in the issues of unlocking and installing custom roms, but until today, and after I survived many other phones bricks, my highest and loved phone of all my time, is bricked in a way that I am start to desperate, since I almost no clue by now about what could I try looking for a fix....
So, thanks in advance and if some body may help, I would be very grateful....
Is there really a reset button under the sim flap? Maybe you damaged the internals when trying this..

Yes, I've used it many times it's highly unlikely to damage it from that. Unless you press it harder than a gentle touch.
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
Yes, there it is, well, by now I am collecting more info and try about fully discharge my phone in order to get a RED permanent charging Led light (for future reference, seems that a Pulsing RED charging led means NO detection of battery...), by no today at morning I put my phone on charger and it only warn a little, and according with some info, the best chance by now is to plug it for a long time (other models of xperia reports around wait 24+ hours for get a RED permanent light...)
By now, I already purchased a set of adhesive gaskets, in preparation to open my phone (I did in the past and have some skills for doing it, but not that I really like to do over a so new and expensive phone... ), since by now, if I fail in got a RED permanent charging light, seems that the next step is to open back cover a remove battery connector, plug in usb cable connected to wall charger and then after 3 minutes wait, reconnect battery connector with the usb cable still attached, this would reset a really brick phone, and suppose tho reset the charging process of xperias...
By now, and in case of help other people that may need it now or in future, the guide that I am following advice is this:
[GUIDE] Recover 2012 and newer XPERIAs from SOFT-brick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
The info in the page seems with lots of sense, and the charging process description seems very similar at I would believe could be used in my previously Z2 and my now in comma, Z5P.... But by now, I need to get a RED light in order to try to unbrick without need to open back cover glass....
Any info, advice, comments or better, experience share, would be very gratefull...
Best regards...
Did you ever solve the problem? My Z5 died and wont turn on. Flashing lights when the usb is plugged in. Tried unplugging the battery and charging for hours
you have no fastboot ( vol+ blue led ) and no flashmode ( vol- green led )?
No, only a flashing red light when plugged in. The phone dos not react to any buttons.
Sony Xperia Companion does not recognize the phone.
"lsusb" in linux shows nothing when i plug the phone in.

I know you probably have but did you try holding volume up and power to force reset it?
You say you couldn't get a proper installation of hardware, so the computer can see the device? Is it showing an exclamation point next to the device driver?

Edit: Go to device manager and right click phone and do update drivers.
Click browse for update yourself and direct it to WINDOWS/INF folder and check "include subfolders".
Then click where it says "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Then click Android phone from the list and click MTP USB driver and click OK for install.
Your phone should be installed correctly.
Then try fastboot etc.

Phone working but no picture, screen backlight comes on ok

I had my H815 repaired (main board ) just a few weeks ago. But I lifted it to read a text message earlier and the screen was blank. I thought it maybe needed charging but when I connected the charger it made the connected sound and the charging led came on. I forced a power off and powered it up again. It played the startup music but the screen remained blank. I've tried restarting it several times but although the backlight comes on, there's still no picture.
Can anyone suggest what I can do here rather than sending the phone back to LG again? They're pretty fast with repairs, less than a week for my previous one, but I'd much rather fix it myself if I could. Is it possible a connector has popped off inside or something?

It played the startup music but the screen remained blank. I've tried restarting it several times but although the backlight comes on, there's still no picture.
Can anyone suggest what I can do here rather than sending the phone back to LG again? They're pretty fast with repairs, less than a week for my previous one, but I'd much rather fix it myself if I could. Is it possible a connector has popped off inside or something?

This might seem hard to believe, or maybe it won't, but I lifted the phone last night when going to bed and the screen just started working again. Usually when a complex electronic device stops working it stays not working until it is repaired. But it is still working away without so much as a flicker. I'm totally flummoxed, to be honest.
Then it sounds like a loose connector cable. if it happens again, myself would disassemble it and check and make sure all the ribbons are seated firmly.

Hi,
One of my friends G4 has weird issue...When he switches it on, it starts very normal but freezes after couple of minutes of normal use and only battery pull work to restart.. (Phone do not heat..)
"Strangest part is"...if he connects it to computer or wall charger then he can use it normally...No hangs, no heating and no restart...he tested it like this for several hours even through the night once...without any issue and he still uses it occasionally while connected to power.. (When he removes the usb power, display freezes immediately..)
Any Clue..?.
He tried battery replacement...didn't work..
Swapped display with other G4..same issue.
Any help is highly appreciated...Thanks.
Edit: Model: H818N DS
Tried LP, MM firmwares but same result, currently on Nougat by SezerSimsek
Is there a chances if it is bad USB port or else...?

The g4 is so riddled with issues hardware wise it's hard to tell. I would recommend another battery

I gave him a tip yesterday to check if it works by connecting OTG and received a call a while ago as below..
Phone working fine by keeping only OTG adapter in usb port..
How to explain this.. USB Port to be changed..?
Update:
USB port changed but same behavior..I noticed that phone works fine even keeping only usb cable in phone while other end is not connected to power source...never heard of any issue like this in G4/phone..
screen not appear. only charging led displayed
any suggest can i replace screen of LS991 to LS H818 ? I did but phone is working but screen is blank.... only charging led showed.

You can't use the h818 display on other models and vice versa. H818 is special due to double sim and has an own lcd.

plug into pc see if its even recognized if not lg waranty or a new battery
Try these steps
Hold down power button for 30s at least and try power again
If that doesn't work
Pull battery
If that doesn't work
Pull Battery and clean prongs where battery connects and battery prongs
Try different charger
If that doesn't work
Clean charging port with toothpick GENTLY....again GENTLY and dont jam it inbetween the side it doesn't fit where connector is
I have the same problem since today.
Does not start, not even Download Mode is accessable.
Seems like I have to send it to repair, but then I'll lose my data right?
I have data that I don't want to lose on that :/
Did you try steps I posted
Except for the different charger I've tried the options.
I think a different charger would not help anyways :/

plug into pc and see how device manager reconizes the device
Consider another charging block
If not go to local repair shop have them test the charging port for voltage
---------- Post added at 02:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:56 AM ----------
Also try this....hold down the power button 30s
Considering you can't turn it on
Charge it for an hour or so. Battery might be completely drained
If your charging block, battery doesn't need to be replaced, and charging port has voltage
You would need to send it in
---------- Post added at 03:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:59 AM ----------
Easy way to check the charging port without going to shop is
Does the cable going into charging port wiggle around and is loose? Or is it firm

He took the battery out and connect the phone to the computer, it's recognized as Qualcomm 9008 (or something like that). Is it the famous bootloop or is there anything we can do?
Thank you
My phone is not recognized at all
Seems like I have a worst case scenario :/
I only see a battery symbol containing a question mark, but the PC itself does not seem to recognize the phone.

If he was not doing anything. Like trying to root it or downgrade then yes. Basicly bootloop. Lg waranty. If he was rooting or dowgrading. There are a few guys that may hve fixxed it but its a long complicated prosscess.

Yours may only need a battery. Leave battery in and plug into pc. Does not need to be out. If u still get the batt with x u most def need a battery

Looks like LG warranty is a bit out of question, it's passed already.
Any suggestion perhaps? no problem with "long complicated process", at least we can learn something

If I have the battery in nothing happens. If I put the battery in when the display is showing the question mark, the display shows nothing anymore.

You might be able to follow the lgg4 hardbricked threads. Theres a few diffrent ones goin on now. In the generalsection. I dont own a g4 anymore. So if its changed and is bootlooped u may be able to disable the big cores. To stop it from bootlooping. Dont get hopes up yet. But thats a start

Thank you.
We've checking a few, seems like root is needed. Do you know how to root it? it's H818P MM, can't find it so far.
And there's a bit update. The phone was a few months died, now after I charge the battery using external charger and trying to turn on the phone. There's nothing happened, probably because the juice is not strong enough, but now there's a battery animation with a question mark when I connect it to the computer without the battery (still recharging the battery again).

Let's see how will it be. Thank you
Yes order battery
The only reason why ? Shows up while charging is if I pop out the battery and have USB cable connected to phone
Your batter may be completely dead
Mention this before
This is a common issue, it happened to m last month. You can try anything with you PC it wont work because the problem comes from the main board.
Just contact LG and get your phone repaired.

Huawei watch bricked or what?

Hello guys, and sorry for my bad engish. I really need your help! Thanks in advance.
So recently i bought second hand Huawei watch w1 which didint work. The watch can't be turned on, it shows the baterry and lighting icon (no X) when being charged(also gets really hot) , but the second i unplug it dies. I occasionally can go in fastboot mode (when charged) (dont get hot), installed the adb drivers, but the watch cant be recognized by windows 7, or 10 or xp or mac, no matter what i do, i think the problem is that the watch came with Non oem charging dock, but im not sure.
My plan is to go into fastboot mode and run adb and from there to reflash the firmware. But when i plug it gives me usb error 43.
So my questions are: Is the baterry dead, because it dies when i unplug it or is it bricked and this is normal when its bricked. Or it is because of the charging dock?
I've tried numerous of ways to get this fixed but i've hitted in a wall.
Things i tried from theese threads didnt help me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-watch/general/tutorial-complete-guide-how-to-flash-t3307137

Definitely sounds like a hardware problem. Maybe the battery is dead, maybe the non-OEM charger isn't wired correctly and it fried the motherboard. It could be a lot of things, but I don't think reflashing the firmware will help you.
I had similar problems with a Moto 360 when I tried to plug it into a cable that I made myself. I had some wires crossed and the motherboard was fried. After that, no screen except when attached to the charger.

Thank you for your answer.
I opened the watch and it didnt smell like burnt or anything visible, but who knows.
I think there may be structural issue with the HW1 and charging anyway. The one contact point on the back of the watch is burned/melted and has a hole now. Just ordered replacement case+back to solve it.
