Anyone ever successfully replace the 7x screen? I am trying to find a guide or video how to do this? Saw a couple on YT but I'm looking for better ones. Also, it seems like this screen is a little hard to replace.

So.. I broke the screen of my Google Galaxy Nexus I9250. I'm in the UK. The prices I've been quoted are sort of outragious - it's better to buy a Nexus 4 instead of repairing it.
I'm quite handy - does anyone know how to change the screen myself? I'm pretty sure the screen can be found on ebay for something like 30 pounds. What tools/process is needed?
Any help is welcome!
I had a broken screen too. Got a screen+digitizer from someone and replaced it myself.
It's an easy task, trust me. Before I did this, I had never even opened up a phone. Still I found it easy.
You can find videos on YouTube that very well explain how to open up your phone. I referred three videos (two were of opening and was a fast forwarded screen replacing video). Search for them on YouTube.
If you are unable to find them (which I don't think will be the case), ping me. I'll send them to you as I had downloaded those 3 videos.
All the best!
Thanks for the info AbhishekS!
My only concern is this: I am not sure if just the outer screen is broken, or the digitizer as well.
For now I bought only the outer screen, which is cheap (10 pounds).
My problem is this: If the digitizer is broken, then I need to replace that part as well, but it is expensive! It is so expensive that it is probably more worth it to buy a Nexus 4 or some other better android device at this point.
So I am facing two options: Either try to replace just the screen or.. buy another phone. Replacing just the screen seems way harder that replacing the screen+digitizer combo and I am kind of afraid to do it... :/
Hey, so as the title suggests I dropped my phone which caused a crack at the lower right corner.
Now I remember when the phone only came out everyone were saying its not possible to only change the screen and that you need to change the screen plus the amoled screen and digitizer.
Now I after searching the forums I saw this thread-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946828
It looks very promising but its also quite old.
I was wondering if anyone had any recent experience with replacing just the glass screen of the GSM Galaxy Nexus.
Also his link for the New Adhesive is dead, can anyone provide me with a link to a new adhesive? or it doesn't really matter which one I buy off ebay.
Thanks a lot! I really like this phone and hopefully I wont have to replace tons of stuff to get the screen fixed.

Same thing happened to me last week. I think it is quite possible to change just the glass, but i haven't tried it yet.
Glass removal
It is possible to change just the glass :fingers-crossed:. We just did that using a string. There is a video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7BmmDCKBgQ :good:
I cracked my screen recently and it is the most annoying thing ever. And this little purple pixel is just creeping up it and every time I reboot my phone it gets bigger. So I went to look for a screen replacement and I found a 5.5 inch display but I don't have a clue on how to get my screen out. Since the back is not removable I can't find any videos or instructions on how to remove it. Could someone be of assistance?
There is someone in the 816 forums here on xda who did it and made a thread about it.
Hi there,
I dropped the tablet recently on one corner and the screen cracked. The display is still working e.g. the screen is touch-responsive.
I watched several repair videos and YT. To replace just the glass seems to be quite a mission with the risk of breaking the new glass as well. I want to replace the whole display unit. Samsung charges a fortune, exceeding the value of the whole tablet (> 4 years old). Could somebody point me to a supplier where I could get a new or second-hand display unit. Does anybody have experience with changing the display? Many thanks for any reply. Cheers LJ

Nice video how to:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSKA3R8t5Qk
Good pictures of opening it here:https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Galaxy+Tab+S+10.5+Back+Cover/49981
google how to replace t800 screen there is plenty of info. You might only need to replace the touch screen. If you need to replace the entire assembly it is easier to do but more costly.

Hi there, thanks for the reply. I have seen this and other videos of the tear-down and screen or glass only replacement in the meantime. Why I posted my question here, is to get a kind of first-hand experience of members of the procedure. On the videos it looks relatively easy and straight forward. The glass only replacement is difficult and I will not attempt it. The replacement of the display unit is easier but, as you correctly point out, very expensive. An original Samsung display from a supplier in Spain is approx. EUR 200, thus much more than the time value of the Tab S. My conclusion thus far is to retire my Tab S and go for a brand new Kindle Fire as I use the tablet for reading only. Cheers LJ
My phone whyred has always been in a case/screen protector since new
A couple of days ago my 4 yr old threw my phone violently and has smashed the screen :crying:
I can see on Aliexpress there are replacement screens for sale: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...09-47d6-b983-9f29fe68067d&transAbTest=ae803_4
I am based in the UK and this phone is not as popular as in India etc and there are not many places to get screen replaced
I have watched a few videos online, can this be done without all of the fancy machines?
For example do you really need a press? could you not just stick a heavyish book on the phone or is it just not possible
Clutching at straws I know
No, it doesn't work like that... if u want to replace just the glass.. you must have a UV lank to dry the glue..
I think he has to change the complete screen .
Did you look to the tuto on youtube ?
Just buy a new display and replace it. It is much easier but it costs a bit more. Make sure it comes with the frame as well.

I can see the complete display on Aliexpress
I replaced the display on my Redmi Note 3 pro and it was never the same again
The replacement displays are not a patch on the original
I may have to go down that road, is there no one who has attempted to replace the glass themselves?

It is very hard to do a glass-only repair. You have a 60-70% chance to break the display during the process
Broke my display, digitalizer and screen still intact only glass shattered.
As I live in Brasil, there is no trustworthy shop to replace screen.
Searching at aliexpress I saw lots of people complaining that screens are subpar to original.
Can someone recomment a place where I can buy an original replacement, or at least a good one?
My phone screen is "tianma td4310".
