Hello fellow HTC 10 owners. Question: Do you notice your screen "ghosting" with fast movements? A.k.a, does it seem like there is motion blur because of the screen?
The reason I ask, is I had an HTC 10 when it first came out. I loved everything, but it had a noticeable problem with the screen. I played the game Bean Dreams and simply moved my character right. I compared this to my Nexus 6p, and Redmi Note 3, and neither of them had the blurry, afterimage effect that I encountered with the HTC 10. I returned my 10 shortly after that.
My question is, does anyone else encounter this? Could it be related to the panel type that I had? Or did I just have a bad unit?
Yeah, my 10 had the same problem. I think our eyes are just sensitive to ghosting. Many people can't see it or it doesn't bother them.
It's related to the pixel response time. I don't see such problem on my unit (Tianma). Do you know which penal does your HTC 10 have?
Sighh.. so guys, i had my mi mix for about 6 months and i loveD this phone. but i feel like its come to the end of the line already.
MIUI is basically unusable for me, missed notifications, calls missed by delay of ring & late notifications, group texting is horrible, camera image processing sucks, OS crashes etc. (all this before rooting mind you)
But after rooting all of those issues went away....for a bit.
so since day 2 i had it rooted running lineageOS and switched to RR, but 3 months later and up til today i started experiencing:
Slight screen burn
Constant OS Crashes/Random Reboots
Cell Signal dropping in areas that it didnt while running MIUI
Still bad camera image processing
Call Audio dropping extremely low when volume is Maxed
Bluetooth disconnects while my phone is in my pocket (didnt happen on MIUI)
and several other things.
I work IT and cant have some of these things happening while at work.
I started looking at alternative devices and since the Pixel 2 is too dang much for my pockets I'm considering the Pixel XL.
I hate that the screen is 5.5 inches over my 6.4 but I need something nice that works. I'm wondering if i left if I'd be happy or nah?
I had a Pixel XL and the software experience was incredible, it was better than anything else I've used. I did have to send it back though, because I had display burn in after 2 days and it was very uneven on dark colours. People report Bluetooth issues, but I didn't have any, so who knows.
But in my opinion, if you get one with a good screen, it is still better than most phones today, it really is a good phone.
After a while I used the new mix 2, I noticed that the text smears when scrolling. There is a glow behind. As if there was a problem with refreshing (?). In my previous Lumia 950 xl phone with amoled, nothing like this happens.
Is this a faulty display? Maybe installing another rom will help?
After the first switching on, the system has been updated to 9.1.2.0 global stable.

I did it but it did not help. I also tried to force the GPU in the develovey settings.
This is just what an IPS display is like. AMOLED has significantly faster pixel response time, IPS has significantly better color accuracy. I came from an AMOLED phone myself before getting the mi mix2, but I've been noticing it less and less as I've gotten used to the phone. If it really bothers you and you're able to return your phone, you definitely should because this is just what the display will be like forever.

I've had several phones with ips-display, including Xiaomi note 3 and 4, and I have never seen smearing this bad before!

Hey guys, I was a Pixel XL user during the past one and a half year until my phone got bricked by itself (without an apparent reason) and I'm currently looking to get a new phone. So as mentioned in the title, I'm wondering if it is worth it to get a Pixel 2 XL right now and I would really like to get the opinion of users that have been using the phone for a while.
I have to admit that I was not really fully satisfied with my Pixel XL especially in terms of durability. The battery life became really bad after the first year and I was getting overheating issues especially during summer, not to mention the built quality which was far inferior to other phones that I owned during the same period such as the iPhone 7 plus and the Galaxy S7 edge. The only good side compared to those two phones was the camera and the stock android experience and updates.
I would like to know from you guys if the Pixel 2 XL is still a good phone in 2019, how did it age ? what about battery life ? the screen ? overheat ?
I'm actually really confused between getting a Pixel 2 XL (I can't stand the notch on the 3) or waiting for the Galaxy S10.

I have the Pixel 2XL for now 2 months. It's a panda version, the best version with the orange power button it's look so cool.
I had a Nexus 6P during 2 years before the battery life goes down (the nexus 6p's battery symptoms) 90% to 0% in 1sc and a reload time of 30sc from 0 to 100%, and it's not a joke.
I had the choice between a Pixel 3XL or the Pixel 2XL. The 3 is and still expensive but the noth is not a issue for me. But after some weeks some issue appears on the 3XL and at the same time I could have -50% on a Panda version of the Pixel 2XL with a fabric case. My choice was done.
-Great battery life (before the january patch,thx google:crying I was between 7-8h of SOT, now with the january's patch is more like 5-6h.
- Still smooth
-Great camera but it has more noise than the Nexus 6p camera.
-Excellent screen, no burn issue and no blue effect. If you don't pass your time at full brightness, it should be good.
-No overheat (no game installed)
It's an excellent phone in 2019. Even 3 years old, my old and venerable 6P still smooth like the first day.
Its worth it only if you get it cheaper .. I came to Pixel 2 Xl after using many phones .. It has only three pro for me 1) stock speedy software and 2) camera which is excellent( best would be overstatement ) 3) battery is good( 6-7 hour screen on time )
If talk about negatives then
1) Speaker is ok but call quality from ear piece and mic is average ..I struggle to hear other side in noisy environment especially when using WhatsApp
2) limited storage 64GB and others devices with same price often have 128GB and some even support SD card
3) Design is boring
4) Display is bright only when you drag slider to 70/80 percent and even some midrange phone have more bright display than pixel 2 xl
5) get warm when using phone after hotspot is active
Its good device but far from perfect
If your avoiding the notch of the pixel 3xl then if go with the pixel 2 xl till they get ride of the notch.

Htc use to be the phone for me but the Nexus and pixel since they gone dual speaker is the best I've come across. Now wish they would add a ir blaster for those moments I can't find the TV/audio remote

Boring design ? What color did you have?
Thank you for your advices guys ! I'm sure the Galaxy S10 will be a much better phone in terms of hardware and design but I really got used to the google software especially the camera and google photos with the unlimited storage option. Maybe I should wait until the S10 announcement...

Reason i come back to pixel is because of software and updates..this fludity of software is missing in samsung and even there new software one UI is laggy and i have used all samsumg devices from S7 to S9
If we put pixel software in samsung hardware then that would be excellent device
Sadly pixel always have many basic issues about call quality/display/mic/speaker crackling etc even pixel 3 and 3 xl has some issues..dont know why google dont pay attention to basic functionality when charge premium prices
I came back to the 2 XL from the 3 XL. This is a really good device.

Yeah, the Pixel 2xl is worth it if you want to save some money. Perfect for those that don't mind not having all the extra features + latest specs and just want a good all-around phone with timely updates, smooth software and great camera. Really good phone if you can get one without any screen issues.

I've had my Pixel 2 XL since it came out. I've been pretty happy with it.
I like the design, build quality and materials. I think it's much better than the Pixel 3 XL because of the metal back instead of glass and no stupid notch.
Many people have complained about the screen. The screen isn't perfect. It does have a slight blue tint at extreme angles and there is some black crush and black smear at the lowest brightness. However, since I don't use my phone at extreme angles or at the lowest brightness I don't noticed those "issues". When it comes to color I actually prefer the Pixel 2 XL to the Pixel 3 XL. The Pixel 2 XL with "Boosted" color mode looks very life-like but with the Pixel 3 XL it didn't matter what color mode I tried it was still oversaturated.
Camera is fantastic.
Speakers are ok but not great but I don't use the speakers much so I don't care much.
The battery life of my Pixel 2 XL was stellar for the first 3 months but then I had 3 consecutive months of drops in battery life because of updates. Add to that the phone is now 15 months old and now the battery life is just ok. When it was brand new I got as good as 9 hours of screen on time doing basic things like browsing, Facebook, texting, email, etc on wifi most of the time with ~20 brightness with no gaming, Bluetooth, camera, etc and I could go like 40 hours off the charger with that usage. Now, the same kind of usage gets me maybe 6 hours screen on time over a period of maybe 18 hours. Not terrible but not great. On days where I'll be using it heavily(about 20% of my days) with mostly mobile data, taking pictures, streaming over Bluetooth, higher screen brightness (for use in bright sun), YouTube/Netflix, GPS, etc I have to take a battery pack with me which sucks and wasn't necessary for the first 3-5 months.
I did have an issue with the 3.5mm adapter and stock charger not working but it was a software issue that seems to be resolved now.
My only complaint now is the Bluetooth metadata bug that's been a problem since updating to Pie. The February update should be out tomorrow so I'm hoping maybe it will include a fix for that bug.
Overall pretty happy. Still not worth the insane price but no phone is.

Same here just purchased a brand new 2 XL after having a 3 XL. Actually like the 2 much better. Ended up with Fi promotion and trade-in getting it for $300. Hard to beat, especially when you get a 2 year warranty and two more Android versions directly from Google. Basically means I will probably get a 3 or 4 XL in eighteen months or so for free.
I had a extended sting with the OnePlus and initially that phone had it all. Performance, battery life, awesome gestures. Slowly little things like
1) annoying reoptimization of apps
2) missing very important alerts (home alarm notifications) because of the optimization
3) Lack of response by OnePlus regarding global issues related to
4) TuneIn radio app consistently does not start upon launch due to some connection issue (probably caused by aggressive doze). Persisted even after a factory reset and appears to be a global issue.
5) Lack of response from OnePlus regarding this issue as well.
I went back to my pixel xl 2 and the inefficiency of screen bothered me a bit coming from the OnePlus but since I installed OnePlus gestures (working a lot better than my 1st go round with the app) and I've gotten over that issue
Also i'm enjoying having
1) Always on Display back
2) Phone screen calling to give telemarkerters a taste of their own medicine
3) Better Camera especially with the night sight
4) Faster security updates
5) Faster access to the phone via physical finger print scanner
What is it with all those stories of pixel bricking itself randomly.

Do the 2XL still have the blue Tint issues or has this now been addressed by Google & fixed?
Just purchased one from Amazon for $345 128gb panda, Will be nice to have a backup pixel.

With the "boosted" mode, no problem for me
I had mine set to boosted but it still had the blue tint.
So have google fixed it?
I don't understand why people keep talking about the blue tint when the black crush is a much much more impactful problem.
