Hey there Xda members !
I've been trying to unlock my Whyred since past few weeks, i don't know what I've done wrong but here's what I've done :
1. Opened Mi unlock page to request for bootloader Unlock permission (but there isn't any such thing)
2.it automatically showed Mi unlock tool and I've downloaded it on my computer
3. Installed Mi usb drivers
4. Ran Mi unlock tool and connected my device in fastboot mode ( I've already binded my mi account)
5. Mi unlock tool detected my device and i pressed on unlock anyway
6.and it loaded up to 99% and asked me to try after 360 hrs
7. After about 16 days i reopened mi unlock tool and pressed unlock
8. It loaded up to 99% and said "Unkown error"
Can somebody suggest me a solution.
Please devs.

Guys, I need some help to confirm the only solution I found for my problem, or if I can still try other solutions.
I bought a Mi5s that already came from seller with the global stable rom. I asked the official bootloader unlock to Xiaomi and has received authorization by SMS. But the unlock application stucks at 50% saying that the device being unlocked is different from the one authorized on Mi account. I looked for some solutions like deleting all the devices in the page i.mi.com, leaving only the Mi5s, but I did not have success. Other solution is flash chinese developer rom
Another solution is to flash Chinese developer rom, to confirm unlock of the device on the developer screen and then to use the official tool unlock. But I didn't find any way to flash the developer rom. I've tried using Chinese PC Suite, fastboot mode, MiFlash, and all says that the rom I am trying to flash (Chinese) is different from the rom of the device (global).
The only solution I found is to buy a deep flash cable and flash the developer rom in EDL mode. Or hope to launch the global developer rom for Mi5s, which so far we have no prospect in the short term.
Do you suggest I try some other solution? Thanks in advance.
Try logging into mi cloud with your mi5s using the same account you used to asked the request to unlock.

Already had done it, no success
From http://en.miui.com/thread-482266-1-1.html
Under settings/additional settings/developer options, click Mi unlock status. Click add account and device. Your device will now be automatically added to your Mi account.
Next, enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging under developer options.
Then connect your mobile to the pc or laptop while on fastboot mode. Unlock again. This time, it will be successful!
Same problem. Can't unlock my Mi 5S on Global Stable firmware (V8.0.3.0). And can't flash to China Developer firmware.

According to this:
http://en.miui.com/thread-202290-1-1.html
You should have that parameter no matter you are at global or not, but if you don't you should flash a developer version, instruction at the same page.
Before you say "i can't flash developer rom", did you tried the updater app to flash it?
Force flash your rom using special cable to enter fastboot to install. I dont know its detail, but the installation called Deep Flash using deep flash cable sold on ebay

I had similar problems and I was also trying to figure out what to do to unlock bootloader on Global stable rom. The amount of people having the same problem where unlocking app stops at 50% is overwhelming ,judging from the comments found on google, but the info what is the actual problem is next to none. Suggested solutions looks to me like voodoo and most if not all probably doesn't have any impact on successful unlocking. As the Xiaomi unlock app is just a wrapper for fastboot executable I've checked what kind of commands are being send to the fastboot when you click unlock here they are.
fastboot getvar product
fastboot getvar soc-id
fastboot getvar soc_id
fastboot getvar board_version
So I've checked if I will actually get any info from bootloader if I send those commands manually, and with no surprise I didn't get any. So this was the problem at least in my case. Some kind of connection problem I'm not sure where exactly the fault is, probably drivers but try to issue those commands manually from command line I can bet you will not get any info from the phone. What to do if that's the case remove and reinstall drivers, this is what has worked for me. Good luck
Had the same problem. Got it solved today. the bad news you need a deep flashing cable, good news you can make it yourself.
Here is the guide:
http ://en.miui.com/thread-310325-1-1.html

I have unlocked 4 mi phones with no difficulty. Some of them with fake/seller ROM. Once you got permission make sure you have done all things right before preceding to Unlock. Usually it's all about loading the right driver for Xiaomi phone. Using default windows driver is not working. As it's not Microsoft signed driver you have to start windows in insecure mode.
You have to login in your mi account both on PC and on phone with SIM card ind.
Check that phone is verified settings/mi account on your phone.
Best luck
Something is with drivers for your phone. I have the same problem...than i delete drivers and than they automaticly reinstall and evarything works.

Follow the guide that I posted to make the cable(first link), install all the drivers and software needed (second link).
After successfully putting the phone in deep flash mode you need to update Qualcomm drivers (under device manager it must appear as com3 or com10 port after that).
Then use Mi Flash tool to flash Chinese dev rom (http ://bigota.d.miui.com/7.1.20/miui_MI5S_7.1.20_229fa68558_6.0.zip). If the flash fails the first time reboot the computer and try again.
After that sync connect your MI account to the device, enter Dev mode and you will find OEM Unlock option.
Not easy but it works.
Good Luck!

I tried all the possibilities described, that do not need flash developer rom using a deep flash cable. I changed drivers and everything, no success.
In time, I already ordered a deep flash cable here in Brazil. For my part, I thank all fellas who tried to help me but gave up trying anything else. As the title of the topic, my device is currently virtually impossible to unlock in the normal way.

I have same problem to unlock Mi5s before but then realize that you need to update driver on your PC from Keadcom (or samething) into Marshall London Bootloader and it success.
Now my Mi5s uncloked officially.
I just use same Mi account which has permission to unlock my previous device which is Mi5.
No need deep flash cable, just normal cable can do.
Hope this help.

Unfortunately this this did not help. My assumption is that 8.0.3.0. Global stable needs ROM-internal permissions, which are currently missing. (In fastboot mode ADB is able to communicate to the phone, so it is not a driver issue.)

You should have selected CLEAN ALL only on miflash tool. Only fix is to unlock bootloader again. If it doesnt work then flash china rom thru edl. You can try to flash china fastboot rom with locked bootloader w/ mi assistant. Check my thread.

I tried to go through the official route to unlock my Global Version Note 5, but when I log into my Mi account, there is no option for "Apply for unlocking permissions", it's greyed out and so it's straight to the Mi Unlock tool. Have I missed something?
I was trying to find out if it's straight forward to lock the bootloader if I should so choose, but when I search all I'm finding are results for people with Global ROM's not the Global Version.
I'm new to Xiaomi but I've been messing around with modding phones for 5 or 6 years now...

My OEM Unlock option doesn't get saved after i exit option developers or restart, i guess i have to wait first? also i installed drivers from mi unlock toons and entered fastboot mode but i can't press unlock on the software i for some reason.
Firts of all I give you a summary of what happened:
- Bought the Mi Mix 2 at Gearbest
- Either it came with the Global Beta Rom installed or I did it (don't know it anymore )
- Used the phone for several month with Global Beta
- Had some Bugs an wanted to change to Global Stable, that was when the problems began
- Downloaded the Global Stable ROM from Miui Site and installed it via the Update-App in Miui
- After installing (no Errors displayed) the phone booted up and had to activate the device
- After that I had to select Language and Region; As Region only China was selectable and after selecting it I got the boot loop
So I knew I installed ROMs via fastboot on my previous devices and tried that. But it is written that the Bootloader has to be unlocked.
I can't unlock the bootloader, because USB Debugging wasn't enabled and I did not connect the Phone to the Mi Developer Account .
So I am stuck now:
- Boot-Up => Bootlopp
- Fastboot flashing => locked Bootloader
- Unlocking Bootloader => Dev-Account not linked
Is there anythin i can do to recover the phone?
And I was wondering what have I done wrong that I got into the bootloop? As global bet was installed I thought I would be safe to go to Global Stable...
Is there anyone that can help me with this problem?
Do you need more information?
It would be great to know if there is a way to recover the phone or if it is bricked.
I think u have locked bootloader over again.Try to unlock it again and repeat the procedure

The problem is I can't unlock the bootloader, because I didn't bind the phone in the dev settings to my Mi-Account and after flashing and resetting the debug-mode isn't active either.

I used to solve this problem by using MI FLASH. You can download the file, global or chinese version of the rom file, but the file must be in the fomat img Which can be downloaded from the official forum and then flash via miflash This is probably not a problem. Good luck.
If you have adb enabled, it's fixable easily with available tools. If not, you need to either disassemble the phone (and boot with contact points to force bootloader unlocked), or take it to a xiaomi store in HK or China (they can request Xiaomi CN to make a custom firmware for your device which can unlock bootloader without normal permissions - I had to do this for my Mi Mix 2 Special Edition, which can't really be disassembled without breaking the screen).
Don,t be that complicated. The mi flash tool can be used even if your device is stuck.but the flash rom file must be an img file. At miflash status,it is already said that it cannot be deleted in lock status.

Search "Unbrick Mi Mix 2 or EDL mode Mi Mix 2 at Google.
