So in the past either through Tasker shell command or just using a terminal I was able to disable or enable WiFi, mobile data, and bt by using svc (WiFi or data or bt) enable\disable to turn radios on or off. Specifically data because I can't stand the annoying popup asking me if I want data turned off. Not sure when it happened but I'm on June patch and commands no longer work. Can someone who's rooted try
su;
setenforce permissive;
svc data disable;
setenforce enforcing
And tell me if it works for you? Thank you
Mods you can delete, I solved my issue

I have a Taiwan model H815, rooted using the injection method. I'm trying to use a root shell command in a Tasker profile task to enable/disable mobile data in Tasker ("svc data enable/disable"). The command appears to execute, and a message pops up saying "Tasker has been granted superuser permissions for an interactive shell", but the command does not take effect - i.e. mobile data is not enabled/disabled.
I have selected the Root option in the Tasker task definition. I have also run the same shell commands in terminal emulator with root, and they were successful. It's just Tasker that isn't executing them properly.
Any ideas?

This is odd/annoying - I removed and re-installed Tasker (I purchased it from the Amazon app store), and the re-installed version didn't have this problem, BUT it did have another problem that the previous version didn't - i.e. it does not respond to any Bluetooth-related events (e.g. Bluetooth Status, Bluetooth Connected...). The previous version that I had installed (which I restored from a Titanium Backup) had no problem responding to Bluetooth events but was unable to execute my root shell command.
The version I now have installed (from Amazon) is 4.7m. Can anyone else running this version confirm whether it responds to Bluetooth events on Lollipop?
I'm using the same command through Tasker but having Tasker run it through Secure Settings. It works fine. My mobile data is disabled and enabled.

LG G4 811 with stock rom 5.1 on T mobile.
I think I've found the problem. I purchased Tasker from the Amazon app store. It turns out that the version on the Amazon app store is a pirate copy, but despite being informed about this by a number of people it is still available. I have now purchased a copy from the Google Play Store and I no longer have the problem.
Now I need to see if I can get a refund from Amazon.
Root Required for this
The popup keyboard from amazon is really annoying.
I always installed null keyboard and used settings.apk file to change ime on ftv1. that solution no-longer works for ftv2.
below works for ftv2 . tested on sloan5.05r4 comes
read warning below. you may want to script with something like rom tool box scripter to enable and disable so you dont have to search for commads
From adb:
adb shell
su
pm disable com.amazon.tv.ime
thanks to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795603&page=2
to re-enable it
adb shell
su
pm enable com.amazon.tv.ime
note: verified known issue below with keyboard completely disabled for entering new wifi password.
Ok so after testing using the method mentioned above it does in fact hide the on screen keyboard but it also completely disables the possibility of entering text in certain instances. For example, I enabled the above and disabled the similar method used for blocking. My FTV wasnt finding the update so I went to network settings and forgot my wifi network. When I tried to reconnect by selecting the network name there is no option at all to enter text of any sorts. I actually had to remove the password from my network connect unsecured and reconnect in to adb to disable the keyboard hiding to be able to reconnect to a secured network.
Is it possible to turn off mobile data completely when the screen is off?
Use Tasker to disable data on screen off and enable data on screen on

Does this work without root too?

No, enabling data requires root since lollipop. Also Tasker might need the secure settings plug in to work properly

No secure settings plugin required to On/off data.if you have root then you can execute "svc data enable" and "svc data disable" commands for On or Off data respectively.
Hi,
I would like to create a tasker task to turn the mobile data on and off.
I tried using the command mentioned above, but it does not work. However it works in a terminal emulator. In tasker a red light is displayed when I trigger the task. Im rooted ofc. Can this be because I have systemless root?
Any ideas how to make it work?
Hello everyone,
As of OOS 4.0.0, the Tasker shell method for making an automated night mode switcher no longer works. I have tried both the "settings put global night_mode_enable/d 1" as well as the "settings put secure twilight_mode 1", with or without root access, with or without "su" in front of the command.
There is a method discussed here whereby night mode can be triggered via AutoTools for Tasker, but once you pull the notification panel the setting reverts.
I have also run LogCat for when you activate night mode via the Quick Settings panel, and once when you disable it. I see the services responsible but lack the knowledge to go forth. If somebody has an idea on how to get access to night mode via tasker from the provided logs (or any other means you can suggest for me to test), please feel free to post your suggestions/solutions.

PressON is capture when switching nightmode on and vice versa.
Unlocked AT&T e980 - Lost WiFi tethering with transfer to Mint Mobile - 4G LTE works
I thought members here might know if this solution I found for phones using KitKat might be my issue. Setting up the APN for Mint is trivial and know to be correct. Why no WiFi tethering for pc? Here is what I found but I do not want to implement this w/o gaining more confidence this will work...no desire to kill the phone. Mint tells me they do not block tethering. The e980 only offers WiFi and Bluetooth tethering. I do not see an option for USB tethering unless it is located in a unique place.
This can be fixed permanently using the following procedure (UPDATE: no root required):
Enable developer mode (Go to Settings -> About phone, and click on the build number until the developer mode is enabled).
Enable USB debugging under Settings -> Developer options
Connect the device with a USB cable to a computer with the Android SDK platform tools installed
Start an adb shell: adb shell
In the adb shell, run this command: settings put global tether_dun_required 0
Any ideas?
Edit - Bluetooth tethering does not work either. I can connect a pc and the e980 via Bluetooth but enabling BT tethering on the e980 gives the same fault message.

I think this is what you need to do? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283615
Btw are you still using your LG att e980? Mine has sat in a drawer for 3 years since the screen stopped working. Not sure if it's rom or screen digitizer related? I bought it in 2014 I think & used it will March 2018 when I bought my T-mobile LG V20 & V30 phones. I'm trying to decide to fix it or toss it?
