Can't boot into download mode - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an old G4 I need to use as a backup device. It's currently rooted and ROM'd with Resurrection Remix, but I'd like to return it to the stock firmware. I have the KDZ and LG Flash Tool, but I can't get into download mode. Every time I try, whether it's the volume up+USB combo, or adb reboot download, it just boots normally into the OS. I can boot into TWRP fine as well. Just not download mode.
Is there any way to fix this, or am I stuck with Resurrection Remix forever?
Thanks

I had nearly the Same issue with the Imperium Rom. So i set all on one Card. I booted into TWRP and go into Wipe, advanced Wipe. Here i checked all options, Cache, Data, Davlik, System. After that i reboot into System but goes wrong, off course i deleted the System in the advanced Wipe. Now i was able to go into the DL mode and flashed via LGup the MM kdz File via Refurbish in the LGup Tab.
Should help you too.

You can always flash the stock image using TWRP. The Nougat Stock Image is found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/h815-nougat-stock-t3659860 . Just follow the instructions and move the file over to the phone while in TWRP recovery.

You don't know which model he has and that nougat you are referring to does not work on all 11 g4 models and could even further brick his device.
Formatting system should be enough to get download mode back in his case.

[H815] I think I screwed up my phone's software

Edit:
I installed some LG Drivers from a root article and now the phone is recognized. I can update to V20G and test it again, hope it works!
Hello!
I was running CM14.1 on my LG G4 and a few days ago I decided to install a new update but from within the phone itself. Sadly, it just rebooted to the recovery and didn't install anything. And from there, it always rebooted into the recovery no matter what I did. I also did a full wipe and installed CM14.1 clean but it still rebooted to the recovery and didn't want to go past that. I made a Reddid thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/cyanogenmod/comments/5gcap3/g4_h815_cm_141_help_i_cant_boot_outside_of/.
So I got help with that - I got into Download Mode and flashed the stock software via LGUP. Sadly, after I did this, I can no longer install a custom recovery. The phone is not rooted and LGUP and LG Bridge don't recognize the device anymore and the phone says there isn't a new update available but it's on the 5.1 stock ROM.
Whenever I flash the TWRP image via fastboot and I reboot into recovery, it doesn't boot into TWRP but it boots into some kind of other fastboot mode. And I've tried to issue `fastboot boot twrp-x-x-x.img` but it fails to do so and shows `FAILED (remote: dtb not found)`.
Is there a way to fix this so I can flash CM again?
Thanks in advance!

The bootloop to recovery is a known issue of one the December nightlies of CM 14. Head over to the CM thread and search for bootloop and twrp. They provided a solution to solve this too.
Besides that: which twrp version do you tried to fastboot? H811 or h815? Taken from the official download site?

twrp-3.0.2-1-h815.img, H815 as the title says and from the official website as I've always done. As for the thread - I don't have TWRP and I can't even flash it as I've written in my post. That's what I'm struggling with.

I installed some LG Drivers from a root article and now the phone is recognized. I can update to V20G and test it again, hope it works!

Caught in Recovery Bootloop

Recently I flashed through TWRP Resurrection Remix new 7.1.1 Nougat on my Tmobile Note3. Was working great. I had the newest twrp 3.0. I was looking at a custom ROM that said I would need CWM so I downloaded CWM from Google play and I ran it. I decided to back up through CWM and it rebooted my phone. My phone rebooted into recovery, and is stuck in recovery bootloop now. It keeps rebooting into recovery. I tried to fix by taking out battery for a long time but when I turn it on againit goes back to recovery in the loop. It can power into download mode. I don't know what to do in that mode though. Please help me. If I'm to use a computer to flash a different OS please include all links to find the downloads as well as the links for finding the usb drivers. Anyone know what I'm to do?

I find it odd that you would find a ROM that suggests CWM instead of TWRP, but the way I see it is you go back to Resurrection Remix or try to flash the new ROM you found with TWRP (2.8.7 is recommended)
You can download the .tar file for TWRP 2.8.7 here: https://dl.twrp.me/hlte/twrp-2.8.7.0-hlte-4.4.img.tar.html
For clearer instructions, you can visit this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393
These are instructions to flash back to stock, root and install TWRP 2.8.7
I suggest right after doing this, you flash the ROM you want, that will guarantee a "cleaner" installation of the ROM
Good luck!

Thank you for your help. I did all the clear instructions from the thread. I couldn't get the CF auto root to stick. Also couldn't find a surfboard for TWRP 2.8.7, they only have 2.8.0 on the TWRP site, or TWRP 3.0. Ultimately I've got my original factory stock lollipop back. I'm no longer rooted. I had rooted before through KingRoot. I tried again and it says that I'm out on a list for root for my phone. So my phone works again. I guess I should be happy with that.
If you want to root, you could try flashing cfautoroot with Odin.

I did try to flash CF auto root with Odin after I flashed back to the stock ROM. But it didn't work. It stayed stuck on the T mobile screen for a very long time. So I just gave up trying to root again and stayed with the stock ROM without root. Thanks. Maybe I'll try again and see if it'll work next time.
Flashing twrp with Odin and flashing supersu from twrp had always worked for me.

Will that root my device?
Yes. When I want root with stock recovery, I use cfautoroot. When I want a custom recovery and root, I flash twrp and supersu.

OK. Thanks. Also, which version of TWRP? I can't seem to find a download for 2.8.7.0, only for 2.8.0.0 and 3.0 on the official TWRP site. Also where can I find SuperSu? Do I flash SuperSU with TWRP once TWRP is on phone? I read somewhere that the best version for TWRP is 2.8.7.0, but I can't find it anywhere.
Twrp for T-Mobile note 3: https://dl.twrp.me/hltetmo/
Flash twrp using Odin. Olen Odin, do not check anything except f reset time. Flash twrp. When you see the word reset in the status window, remove USB cable from phone, remove battery, replace battery, use button combination to boot into recovery, connect to computer, copy supersu to phone memory, flash supersu from twrp.

Black screen while loading into recovery

I had a ResurrectionRemix ROM running on my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML. I wanted to install the Marshmallow update of the stock rom, so I downloaded it from Asus' site and tried flashing it. However, something went wrong, so I ended up re-flashing my ResurrectionRemix ROM.
The phone booted properly and worked pretty well, but there was no play store so I had to go to recovery and flash gapps. When I tried to boot into recovery, all I got is a black screen. I know for a fact that while the black screen is on, TWRP loads and the phone goes into a bootloop because it keeps vibrating (the kind of vibrate that a phone does when you start it) every few minutes. Do you know how I can fix this?
Also, when the phone is booting, I no longer get the white splash screen which indicates an unlocked bootloader. I simply get a blurred screen, followed by RessurectionRemix's logo. The Asus logo never shows up for some reason.
First of all, you need to reflash the stock recovery in order to flash a stock rom. Stock does not need gapps. To revive your device, reflash twrp thru adb, boot to twrp, do a full wipe then reflash resurrection remix

Well you see the thing is, in order to flash twrp again, I'll need to boot into the bootloader using adb. But I can't.
The phone boots normally and works just fine, but it neither enters into recovery mode, nor into bootloader mode. All I get is a black screen when I try to boot into either of them.
Any help would be highly appreciated

My zenfone 2 only boots to twrp everytime

i was using resurrection remix (magisk) from infinitus-rom.com with twrp version 3.0.3.M4-0 for last 2 months
but suddenly my phone got switched off and when i tried to boot it booted twrp recovery mode. i cant boot the phone in normal mode
i even updated to latest TWRP 3.1.1-0 version but no luck .
please help me with this. is there any way to start this phone without flashing and losing all data.
even this infinitus-rom.com/ site is not opening so i could sideload same rom again
Once he fixes whatever the problem is with his site. You can reflash rom without wiping anything (dirty flash) You SHOULD be OK after that.

Help!! Full wiped LG G4

Hi. Im new to rooting and on the attempt to install lineageos, i got stock in full wipe.
First i unlocked my bootloader and then installed twrp. everything went well so far, but in twrp i made the mistake of doing a full wpe. now i dont know how to boot into custom recovery, if it even still exists on my phone. i also tried the lg flash tool, but i always get the connection to server error. would be really gratefull if someone would help me out. thxs
so... you don't tried enter to recovery via key-combo? (Vol Down+Power).
If you can enter to Download Mode, try to flash a KDZ with LGUP.
I can't flash kdz because lgup not recognized the device because i flashed a old marshmallow system on my lg4 with v30 port ..any help

Try connecting to your phone in Android SDK/Platform Tools.
Type adb reboot recovery and see if it will boot into TWRP. If it works, you have choices to restore a backup or flash a new rom.
If it doesn't boot into TWRP, make sure your TWRP recovery.img is in the same folder and try re-installing by typing fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img (using the file name of your TWRP image).
