I'm going to buy the phone!
So, I want to ask several questions about it.
What's the best Rom, Kernel, etc?
- good for gaming
- long battery life
Also, does it support fast charging?
Tips and tricks or anything would be helpful!
You will be stuck with MIUI for 15 days, after that you can unlock the bootloader and flash custom ROM/recovery. Otherwise a very nice phone. I migrated from Moto devices as they tend not to be so well supported here on XDA anymore.
Only difference between the other models is the camera sensors, but custom roms will support all variants.
I have a Motorola QC 3.0 charger and it seems to charge at fast rates.

Hello guys,
so I lost my OnePlus 3 last week and wanted to try out this beautiful Mi Mix 2.
I still have to wait for 2 days until i can unlock my bootloader and in the meantime i tried to setup some features like my OnePlus 3 had. But I just can't find them, i guess they aren't even available.
Gestures? Are gestures on a locked screen possible? I used the V gesture on my OnePlus 3 alot, to turn on the flashlight. I know, that you can bind the flashlight on a hardware key on the mix 2 but i just don't like it.
Proximity Wake? I really liked the feature that the clock showed up, when i picked my phone up from a desk or pulled it out my pants.
Smart Lock? Where the hell are the Google Smart Lock settings? I want that my Mix 2 is unlocked all the time when i'm at home. I want an unlocked phone while it is connected via bluetooth to my car.
My Mix 2 is running the MIUI 9 Global 8.2.8 | Beta.
Could these features be possible with a custom rom?
Thanks
I've had a Oneplus 3 too and i'm not missing this stuff honestly. If you are looking for these specific settings, you should definitely look into custom roms and/or root.
1. No. In LineageOS you can turn the flashlight on/off with holding the power button when lockscreen is off, way more convenient if you ask me.
2. It's an IPS screen, battery life would suffer too much. Still possible in custom roms though.
3. Haven't tried it in MIUI but I think it doesn't work, possibly easy to fix when rooted. Works fine in all AOSP based custom roms though.
I don't know if you have tried custom roms by now, but I can recommend Arasthel's latest LOS15.1. As it's such a mess in the Mix 2 forums and you pretty much have to go through all of the posts, here are all the files you need. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75700363&postcount=149
smart lock is not working with miui despite of dozens of bug reports since about 3 years, don't bother with miui and flash custom rom. many android features are broken or missing with miui, google apps are broken as well (android wear, android auto, ok google from lockscreen, and much more) plus their apps are based on old code with old apis
Yeah I already rooted it and flashed the RR 6.0 Rom and have been using it since two days now and it works like a charm. Google apps and Smart Lock are running perfectly. I use a Substratum theme that mods more or less everything. I'm also running a heavy modded KLWP theme with Nova Launcher and I didn't have one bug/crash so far. Also the battery life is really good.
The only small problem is the camera. I'm running a modded Google camera that is not bad but the stock is still better. Maybe the Mix 2 will get an adequate custom camera app in the future, or maybe I just didn't find the correct one.
And of course I'm still missing the V gesture to turn on the flashlight though .
there is an option in RR to turn on the flashlight with longpress on powerbuton while the screen is off
Yeah I know but I don't like it. It turns on occasionally in my pocket or when I'm pulling it out ?
Hi, im coming from honor 8 with magisk and xposed. Id love to know before buying if this phone is too big or just a little bit more than my honor 8. What about the headphone volume? Is it quickcharge or other type of fast charge? Good battery life? with honor 8 i cant find a good wall charger cause every charger must be huawei no quickcharge or other types

The Mix 2 is a little bit bigger but you won't really notice it. The Mix 2 is also a little bit heavier. Here are the dimensions:
Honor 8: 145.5 x 71 x 7.5 mm / 153 g
Mix 2: 151.8 x 75.5 x 7.7 mm / 185 g
The Mix 2 is supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and has a good battery life. I can pass easily 1 and a half day with moderate usage.
Since i don't use headphones i can't tell you about the volume, but please keep in mind that the Mix 2 doesn't have a 3.5mm jack for your audio devices. You have to use an USB-C Adapter for your headphones (included in the Mix 2 package)
Hi guys
I'll try to make this short. I lost my Redmi Note 5 Pro (which I loved) and now I need a new phone. I stumbled upon the Honor 7x while searching for an alternative. You should know that I never bought a Huawei phone, I only used high end devices from Samsung, OP, LG and recently been using Xiaomi phones. I had a very bad experience with the Redmi Note 4 with its MTK SoC, since I LOVE flashing custom ROMs and doing all sort of new stuff with my device (rooting, xposed, theming..etc).
How is development doing for this device? Will I be able to easily unlock my bootloader, install TWRP and flash custom ROMs?
Also, how is battery life? and does the Kirin SoCs overheat and thermal throttle like MTK while gaming?
How is the overall smoothness of this phone (on official ROM)? No lags or some lags?
I'd really appreciate it if someone of you could provide some useful inputs based on your experience with this phone.
Thanks!
If you're type of person who loves to flash mods like Gcam,ViperForAndroid.prefer having tons of ROMs, smooth Gaming Experience Then a big No. Considering Honor 7x on Oreo is treble enabled you can surely flash gsi and Openkirin gsi yet none of them having VOLTE. Development on Kirin Soc is just bare bones. Speaking of EMUI is pretty good if you prefer Customs Skins over stock android. Speaking of battery gives Average 6-7 SOT.
Suggestion: if you're in hurry then get zenfone max pro else wait for Mi max 3, Nokia X6 , Mi A2 they are launching soon in indian markets.

Omg I love the Asus zenfone max pro! It seems such a great device for the price of less than 200$. But I can't seem to find it anywhere aside from flipkart or ebay (overpriced). I'm not an indian so I can't order it from flipkart. Do you know if it will be sold in the future on aliexpress or another international website?
OnePlus is the way to go. Get the 5T or the 6, both are very fine devices. Heck, even the OP3 (and 3T) are still good today.
If you like to tweak devices then this is for you. This phones hardware potential is ridiculous. The silicone is just a great piece of engineering and you can install some ROMS. Developers will make more because they know how good the hardware, not to mention the great price tag.

You mean sources for this device are now available for devs to create custom ROMs?

I'm not sure if sources are available, but Huawei is normally pretty good at releasing such things.
According to this URL: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/open...Type=openSourceSoftware&pageSize=10&curPage=1
If you search 'BND', you'll see "7X,BND,EMUI5.1,Android7.0"
What I meant originally was, the Honor 7X is an INCREDIBLE phone at an incredible price, lots of customization/tweaking options. I personally have lineage OS beta 4 installed.

1. I'm not a developer so I don't know, there are only a handful of custom OS you can download ATM.
2. Huawei provides you with a bootloader code to easily unlock the bootloader.
3. The trick with TWRP is you need to beable to install a TWRP that does decryption. Reason being is the Honor 7x, I don't know if its the entire phone.. it probably is... but I know for a fact some parts are encrypted, and you can't make a TWRP backup unless your TWRP can handle decryption. I tried to install a TWRP with decryption thats suppose to work for our phone, but I got some kind of error (I didn't write it down, but the error basically meant that it didn't work). The TWRP with decryption thats available was made for another Huawei phone thats suppose to work for the 7x. One thing you could try, would be to decrypt the phone, and then see if you can make a TWRP backup. Theres a few ways to do that: 1. TWRP>Format Data. 2. fastboot erase userdata 3. Theres probably a GUI way to do it in Settings>Security&Privacy>Encryption&Credentials>Encrypt Phone.
4. Battery life, Its way better than the Honor 5x. I haven't had my phone for very long, so I can't tell you the real world battery results. My battery menu says I have 7 days left of battery if that tells you anything. My Honor 5x got 4 days max, and this phone I know beats it... so my estimate is 5 days of battery for my usage. I'm pretty sure that Oreo has made improvements as far as battery. I looked at catlog in realtime, there wasn't hardly any activity going on unless you did something. On my Honor 5x there was always activity going on regardless.
5. I haven't played any games yet, So I don't know about SOC temps while under load. I've read on other posts that Kirin SOCS temps are good. Right now mines sitting at 29 celcius, which is excellent!
6. On official ROM, I only played with it for a short while, it seemed smooth. Now its not as smooth as iPhone, but I felt like it was just about as smooth as an android is gonna get.
Going to buy this phone soon
I'd like to ask several questions regarding it
Which is the best ROM, Kernel, etc
- Good for gaming
- Longer battery life
Also does it support fast charging?
Did my research and it says yes but I have to buy other charger. Any recommended charger for it?

anyone gonna even reply? lol
You are not going to buy that phone. AI Global 6/64 doesn't exist. You did a poor research.
Ai ist China only ...
There is no "best" ROM but I like AEX or MIUI.
It Support quick Charge but is not certified so you may need to test some chargers. I use one from Anker.

well 'scuse me for not being a phone geek, there's a lot of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 type that I can't remember. First I thought my phone is Note 5 Pro but it's Oreo so I research again and I think mine is AI. And by Global, I mean it's Stable ROM, and support several language and not Chinese only. I just ask for some tips not for you to judge me. so F off
i use htc 10 charger for my note 5
from 1% to 100% in 2 hours or less
i use original cable from note 5
Hello guys
Sorry for the long question.
I am very confused these days, i sold Redmi Note 7 some days ago but now i don't understand that what device is perfect for me in my low budget. I have some devices in my mind:
1. Pocophone F1
2. Realme 3 Pro
3. OnePlus 5T
What i need:
I really like to install different roms on my deivce, occasionally gaming and most of the time watching movies etc.
Why i am not able to decide ?
1. Pocophone F1
Big notch taking over 70% of status bar. Heard / saw different threads claiming that the devices has touch screen / hardware issues.
2. Realme 3 Pro
Realme 5 Pro also available around the world but not in Pakistan. In Pakistan only option so far is Realme 3 Pro. Overall phone seems to be a good deal. But there is no Android development.
3. OnePlus 5T
This device is my most favorite device. Do you guys recommend me to buy 5T in 2019? and i also want to now, that is there any common hardware related issues to check for before buying?
Looking for response from you guys.
Plenty of ROM support and easy methodology to tamper, if you aren't a fan of OOS which is quite good anyway. Updates are still being released quite frequently through the beta.
Bought mine on release, coming up on 2 years ago now. Only complaints I have hardware wise:
-charging port can be finicky, but I need to clean it.
-camera is very average (but GCam mod with root + camera library dot fix performs very well)
I don't see myself getting a different phone for at LEAST another year and a bit. Take of that what you will.
I bought oneplus 5t 2 weeks a ago and i would say buy the damn phone you won't regret it, previously i was using samsung a50 but was not satisfied with the performance, oneplus 5t is blazing fast, go for it
Good phone but two things that suck
Vibration motor is horrible. It's so weak that I can't even hear it most of the time
Camera quality out of the box is just average
This two things didn't seem to be important to me in the past but you do notice the difference after using the phone for 2 years
In my opinion 5T is still beast but official beta support had dropped
Not that much custom ROMs available (many maintainers and developers switched to op6 or higher models)
Better try to buy op6or6T
Although open beta has been stripped for the 5t I'm still more than happy with my 5t. I even prefer OOS over the custom ROMs because it's really fast, stable and the gesture control kicks ass and is way better than that Google thing. Plus have in mind that OP already confirmed Android q. It may take a while but for now OP is still going strong with security patches. As long the battery is fine so am I.
Dear all,
I have removed some off topic posts from this thread. Please post with manners and contribute to the discussion. Thanks.

The Pocophone has larger battery and an IR scanner which is amazing for face recognition. But the screen is not good as 5T's.
Oxygen OS is probably the best out there. It is light and so fast and allows so many customizations. I bet you won't be bothered with custom ROMs!
Snapdragons 835 and 845 don't differ much either.
I'd go for the 5T if I found both at similar price.
