Hi!
I´m still on Android Patchlevel 2017 and there is nothing like "System Update" under "Settings/About Phone".
When I search "update" in settings, there is an app called "Updater" with a green arrow in square symbol but I couldn´t start it.
Developer and USB-Debugging is activated.
Model-Number: PIC-LX9
Build: System 5.1.0.78
EMUI: 5.1
Android: 7.0
Security Patch: 5. july 2017
Any clue for an easy update without loosing data?
thanks and regards

Just received a new OTA update. So far, no issues that I can see. Still haven't fixed the problem with switching keyboards.

This includes Google security patches up to the May 2017 bulletin from Google:

This apparently includes enhancements as well including Verizon One Talk.

Oddly, my 4BQC5 was downloaded and installed on April 27, and "About phone" indicates it has the April 1, 2017 "Android security patch level".

Mine is the same. I don't know where OP got that info.
So I just got the Galaxy Tab S4 SM-T830...
Currently, it's sitting on Android Ver. 8.1.0
Build No. M1AJQ.T830XXU1ARH5
Android Security Patch June 1, 2018
It's asking me to update to the T830XXU2ARJ3 Build Number Oct. 1, 2018 Security Patch...
Do I take the update? I don't want to lock down the device by accepting anything that I shouldn't. I might want to root and install custom ROMs in the future, so that's why I'm asking first.
Thanks in advance!

I have not rooted or installed TWRP. I did upgrade my SM-T835C to U2ARJ3 and I have "OEM Unlock" available in Developer mode. Again I am all official right now. (I have not decided if I want to break AirWatch with this tablet yet or not ) Now if there was a way to keep AirWatch Hub working then that would make want to root faster!
Can anyone confirm whether taking the update will prevent future flexibility with rooting, non stock ROMS etc? Also, can anyone shed any light on what updates/improvements/benefits the update includes (outside of security patch)? Any insight much appreciated!
Sorry to bump but still very curious! Been checking this thread for updates since I asked a while back. Any noteworthy improvements? Still haven't updated.
I didn't even think about the bootloader version before installing TWRP. I just installed it today on T830XXU2ARK4. After installing TWRP, trying to boot into android caused a bootloop until I installed magisk.
Is posible to revert my phone to stock ROM without MI flash tool? I don't have windows PC, I have Linux PC. On my phone, now I have AOSIP Android 9 with custom kernel Butterfly 5.5.
Hi,
With Linux you can use Fastboot images to go back to stock :

Be sure to backup your data first.
Thank You for your help, I successfully installed latest Android 9 ( Android 9.0 [V10.0.20.0.PDLMIXM] ). But after reboot I wanted to stop auto updates because I don't want to update to Android 10. When I entered settings - system updates there are allready an update in progress (security october 2020 - 1,18 GB). This is Android 10 or just security updates for Android 9? If is Android 10, how can I delete this update? The update is paused becaused I turned wifi off.

I think the system will try to go to the last update possible so Android 10. If you want to stay on Android 9 you might try to disable auto updates from the developers settings. If i am correct it's an option from that menu
As per title, I have a Samsung A3 2017 with Android version 7.0 on it. I would like to upgrade this to Android 8.0 or higher if possible using conventional means, i.e. not rooting, flashing or any other fancy business.
So far I've gone to: Settings -> Software Update -> Download updates manually, it shows me:
The latest updates have already been installed.
Current version: A320FLXXS2BRAC/A320FLOXX1BQK6/A320FLXXS2BRA5
'Download automatic updates' is toggled on here.
The other thing I've tried is: Settings -> About Phone, to try and find a System Update option but there is nothing present here.
Any ideas how this can be done, if it's even possible? Thank you
Those of you that have the real Pad 5 Global version (not the CN version with global rom installed), what is the date of your Google Play System Update?
This can be found in Settings --> Security Status
...also if you tap the Google Play System Update does it show that a new update is avail or the you need to reboot to update?
Thx!

Thx @Atheosun ...that is the same for me and its very backlevel! I'm running with an unlocked bootloader and was wondering if this was why it was not updating.
Is your bootloader locked or unlocked?
Thx
I am running stock (no bootloader unlock)
It does seem very out of date for sure. It shows no update available when i click on it. Forgot to answer that part of your question.
My Pixel 3aXL is running December 2021 (Play system update)
