I bought my unit from Lazada and it was shipped overseas.
However it seems i was given the BND-L21 model instead of the BND-AL10 which was what's indicated on the store page. But that's not the issue.
This meant that the phone's update is apparently locked to China(?). And I have not been given any update since i received the phone a couple of months ago.
It's only an inconvenience to me but i'm willing to go through the update process manually; i'll just need help figuring out which one to patch if my build number is BND-L21C432B101?
If there's more than one, which ones do i use and in what order?
Thanks in advance.

Looking at whether I can use a factory-unlocked A5 2017 (not sure which letter but one of the unlocked ones) which I can purchase new as a rootable device given the bootloader update issues the last 2 months -
1) not sure if they come stock with Nougat or MM, if it comes with 6.0 then this should be simple (relatively) to update to a safe 7.0 version, I would assume.
2) if it comes with 7.0, would phones in store now have the security updates from dec/jan that have locked the bootloader and so complicated flashing/rooting/etc.? how could I know? store people won't know and won't care in any event.
3) general perspective - a phone on the shelves now would likely have left factory at the earliest when (I know lots of variables, supply chain, etc, but just looking for the minimum time to market for factory - retail chain - it might be so long that anything sold today won't have the problem updates). I could use IMEI check to see when the phone was built? is it assumed they did not roll out of factory with the problem bootloader builds before it went public?
any guidance on this appreciated.
Hi,
I bought my Honor 8 pro last november and i haven't got any OTA updates since then.
I'm still on DUK-L09C432B185. System updates is telling me there are no update as well as the HiCare app. It wouldn't let me download the full package either.
Firmware finder is telling me that there have been several updates since B185.
Do I still need to wait or is there something wrong? Living in the Netherlands btw if it matters. Phone is still stock so no root or whatever.
Is it carrier locked? Might be a carrier thing? Not so usual around the EU (thankfully) but thats what I come up with.
Otherwise, it should have had updates indeed.
It's (afaik) not locked to a carrier. Bought the phone myself (was not part of a subscription). Using it with a sim only from Tele2.
Already tried updating without sim card. No luck: still no updates available.
Got an update to DUK-L09 8.0.0.360(C432) in the meantime .
I contacted Huawei support and he told me my IMEI is authorised for a couple of updates (including Android 8) but could not explain why I was not receiving it. He advised me to send my phone in for repair.
Before doing that I decided to give firmware finder a shot. That worked! Even got a prompt for an update to 362 now.

The same mishap happened to me as well. Got no update since a minor OTA update that shipped with the phone which dated back to October 2017 I think. Mine is C675 (Indian) unit. Firmware Finder resolved it for me as it did for you. It's a pity how Honor handles its update distribution amongst other software related issues.
btw, how's your battery back up post Oreo update if I may ask?
Weird indeed.
I think my overall battery life improved but it's a bit hard to tell since I charge it in the car very often (Android Auto).
Yours?
Some time ago I loaded a firmware onto my VZW S8+ (G955U) which I thought was a legitimate firmware. However, I've never been able to update the phone since. The firmware that I loaded was CRE1 and since loading that, no OTA updates have occurred and even trying to use the VZW update tool, I get an error saying no update for that firmware or something to that effect.
I assume that I would need to flash back to a base version 8 firmware and then see how things go from there but I haven't been able to locate a base v8 firmware - assuming that is the direction I need to go.
Can anyone advise? The phone is not rooted. I did see one other similar thread with CRE1 firmware from 2018 - I can try downloading the closest firmware to CRE9 that I can find, which is CRK9, and see if I can get it to load.
Other suggestions/ideas are welcome!
[UPDATE]
So I essentially followed another post here and using Odin 3.13.1 I loaded CRK1, the oldest I could find that was near CRE1, and the phone came back up and pretty much immediately notified of an OTA update. About 12 or so OTA updates later and I'm at the current OTA release.
I'm having the same issue. I bought a VZW S8+ (G955U) from eBay Seller mistyelectronics that was supposed to be new in box. It has never updated since I received it almost a year ago. It stuck on Software Version G955USQS5DSE5. Any insight or advice to go the same route? I used Odin years ago. Where would I look for the files to load to the phone?
I appreciate any help you can give.
Hi guys. I got a G8 from a friend whose friend's dad is a radio tower engineer for AT&T that got this phone early. It's a prerelease phone (says "not for sale") on the back, and it comes with software that is seemingly far behind what shipped with the public version of the device. It's Android 9 with the December 2018 security patch, SW version G820UM04b. This version is pretty buggy and doesn't have some features like air motion. It seems like the initial software release for the public phone was G820UM10g.
Whenever I try updating the device, it just says the software is already up to date. I've done more factory resets and tried more tricks than I can even recount. Got a fresh new SIM card. Called AT&T and got them to manually push the update to my IMEI (which is correctly registered), waited a day for the update. Tried LG Bridge but it's incompatible with AT&T devices. Looked for kdz files online for the AT&T version that I can flash using LGUP, but there's no AT&T files available (pls tell me if anyone knows of any out there).
I'm at my wit's end guys. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can get this phone updated? I'm realizing that I really took the ability to just unlock and flash my old OnePlus for granted

Sorry, forgot to clarify that. I live in the USA and I use AT&T.
On the face of it it's not looking good. There aren't any KDZs for ATT as standard, and you can't update OTA - one thing to check here is the S/N field, pre-production LG phones are usually missing this, which is usually why OTAs don't work.
However, pre-production devices can, sometimes, be cross-flashed. You could try using LGUP to flash a more recent US unlocked build. It is likely to give you the IMPL lock / mismatch / crossflashing not allowed error, but it's worth a shot.
If that doesn't work, your best bet will be to ask your friend's dad to take it in to work (when he can...) for whoever looks after devices for his team to flash it to production as a favour.
Hi guys, here's a brief some up. So after buying the note off of an online vender, received it in Demo mode. Had that fixed by a friend. Then he tells me that the device's IMEI # has ben Bricked or Banned.
My friend ends up telling me about a service that can be done remotely to fix but it'll cost me some $. I end up having it done than everything is fixed.
Now just found out that I have not been downloading auto updates and when done manually still same thing phone states that software is "up to date" yet it is a March 21 Android Security Patch. Google Play's latest was done last August of 21.
To shed some more light on the subject to help figure out how to get updates in the safest manner (the later obviously is if can be done without rooting etc)
Yes I tried to get my $ back for the device once i found out that it was stuck in Demo, but it was to no avail, & didn't push the issue due to the price @ the time so presumably I knew there would be some risks. now know that if something looks too good to be true it is, well kinda knew that but Smackmouth
The person who walked me threw the steps to change my IMEI # over the phone had me use some oden software as another software that i downloaded to my PC to complete the process. One had an ADB in front of it. Still have both apps on computer
The Phone still says Official Status, checked if had been rooted via app said no. Model # SM-986U1 running on T-Mob US. Running Android 11 or 11r (the 11r came up when i used app to find out if device had been rooted. running UI V.3.1
Briefly chatted Via text with a Samsung rep, they told me that I have an out of the country model so they could not help me but I know that to be false. Has Snapdragon chip and the IMEI # on back of phone is that of the US variant.
...wondering if the $ that been paying for Prmo INS would work or am Just blowing $ for nothing....
Any other information that I can provide I will give. I greatly appreciate any and all help with this issue. -Saint.
Anyone?
