Thx but it's a nightmare for me. I create one account wait 500 hours !!!, can't unlock, say you can't unlock with this account. So I create another one, it says after 360hours you can unlock, nice right? No! Today I try it's 14days. It says wait 222hours!?!?!
I just want to destroy this phone with a hammer!
Really I don't want to create another account, just tired.
Other thing for MI A1 no wait just unlock right?
God help me plz...

AFAIK you just need fastboot oem unlock for mi a1

Its easy to unlock mi a1
Just enter fastboot commands
fastboot oem unlock
Boom itsgood to go
For other phones. You shouldn't change mi account inthose phone. Mi account should be bind to mobile always

After request boot loader unlock, & after seeing Wait 72hrs (countdown)etc. did it???
So, this is my 3rd Mi Mix product (2 mi mix, and 1 mi mix 2) and first Mi Mix 2...
Ok, so my account exists, and I updated and removed my previous mi mix 1...
I can connect my Mi Mix 2 to my laptop, I attempt to unlock the boot loader and I got the "Wait 72 hours" two days ago.
I am just curious to know if the boot loader can unlock sooner than the initial wait period request of 72 hours...
Has anybody gotten to this point, and then been able to unlock prior to the 72 hour period?
Do you receive a text message (like I did for both my previous two Mi Mix 1's) to alert you that you can unlock the boot loader?
Have others gone past the 72 hours wait period, if so, how much longer?
Cheers,
LormaD
Xiaomi's unlock periods are device specific / tiered.
This means the older the device is (in terms of release date) the shorter the waiting period is.
It seems that they use a 3-tier system here, with current gen flagship devices having to wait 360 hours, last gen flagship devices having to wait 72 and all others having to wait 24 hours.
So i'm considering OPO6 vs Mi Mix 2s and i had no idea about this waiting period... what the heck

I can understand the frustration about the waiting time but it shouldn't be a deciding factor for or against it.
After all: Once you unlocked it you will never face the issue again anyway.

You can create your MI Account and request boot unlock permission before you buy the phone.

But you still have to wait 72 hours after the phone is bound to your Mi account.

Not always, I unlocked mines instantly as soon as the phone was bound to my account. I had unlock permission on my account from back when I had the Mi 5

No you can't... the mi unlock tool will insist to bind your device... There is NOTHING you can do in advance, other than to set up the working applications to make sure your Mi Mix / Mi Mix 2 / Mi Mix 2s connects properly to your computer / usb drivers etc...

First you have to ask Xoaomi permission to unlock a bootloader. After receiving permission, you have to bind your phone to your Mi account and then wait for 72 hours.
That's how I did it with two different phones. It might work in another way, I never tried.

Umm, actually, since you are a detail oriented person...
1) you need to buy the phone...
2) you need to charge the phone...
3) you need to open an account with Xiaomi...
4) you need to download the necessary drivers (usb type) for your Mi Mix so that you can communicate with the phone for a Windows Operating System...
5) you need to download the unlocking Xiaomi App from en.miui.com/unlock/ and while there make your request (it's INSTANTANEOUS)
6) you need to start up your Xiaomi phone and set it up, and log into your Xiaomi account on the phone.
7) you need to activate Developer mode, and access the folder to check status of your phone's unlock. And from there you can bind your phone to the account.
8) you need to turn off your phone, and start up the Xiaomi unlock app on the windows computer. Log in to your Xiaomi account, and while doing so, hook up your Xiaomi to the laptop by a USB cable.
9) you need to boot up your Xiaomi in fastboot mode, and once there your Xiaomi unlock program will request if you are willing to proceed and warn you that your phone will be wiped clean blah blah blah, and it is at this point...
a) older xiaomi product may unlock on the spot or within hours
b) Mi mix 2 and < will unlock within 72 hours
c) Mi Mix 2S > will unlock within 360 million years (hours )

To sum it up: you need to get a life and stop posting garbage. Just do what needs to be done and if you still don't like it get the f*ck outta here. Buy another f*cking phone.
What's your problem exactly? Do what you want and report back. We'll respect you more that way.

Yah, been facing the countdown resetting problem myself. i have 2 mi accounts one for my mi mix3 and one linked to my newly bought mi 9t which the mi 9t is the one i'm trying to unlock. last saturday i requested a unlock it said wait 7 days i'm ok, so here it is sunday a day after i was suppossed to get the unlock and it's still saying 7 days so i linked the mi 9t to my veteran acct and that one says 360 hour wait so i linked it back to its other acct and it says the same 7 days and it hasn't moved so def there countdown ticker sucks ass. FYI theres diff versions of mi unlock and i have like 3 installed on my computer and there all a lil diff so there unlock BS is about as good as there udates buggy AF. Just trying to get away from there software cause it sucks and get a custom rom in this turd before i lose my ****.

Global Version Root/TWRP

I recently purchased a Redmi Note 5 , Global Version, I recently unlocked the bootloader, but wasn't for sure what guide method to use to flash twrp and root... I tried the one click root I found here on the forums, but it doesn't detect my device, even with usb debugging etc... So was thinking maybe b/c it was global and not china? Any help appreciated, thanks.
Install it normally via fastboot. For root, flash magisk. No need to complicate things with tools.
Download twrp from here - dl.twrp.me/whyred

Download miflash_unlock tool, put phone in fastboot, install driver. Start the tool, login, click unlock, check time, wait, then unlock.
I tried to go through the official route to unlock my Global Version Note 5, but when I log into my Mi account, there is no option for "Apply for unlocking permissions", it's greyed out and so it's straight to the Mi Unlock tool. Have I missed something?
I was trying to find out if it's straight forward to lock the bootloader if I should so choose, but when I search all I'm finding are results for people with Global ROM's not the Global Version.
I'm new to Xiaomi but I've been messing around with modding phones for 5 or 6 years now...

My OEM Unlock option doesn't get saved after i exit option developers or restart, i guess i have to wait first? also i installed drivers from mi unlock toons and entered fastboot mode but i can't press unlock on the software i for some reason.

Unlock bootloader problem.

As I want to root my phone, it's need to be unlock bootloader. I followed the rule of unlocking boot loader. When I tried to mi unlock my device by computer, Its noticed me that " couldn't unlock. Please unlock 168 hours later. And do not add your account in MI again, otherwise you will wait from scratch.''
My question will come from notice,
1. Have any way to unlock the device before 168 hours?
2. Can I I unlock my device by the same MI account ( And do not add your account in MI again, otherwise you will wait from scratch.) ?
3. " And do not add your account in MI again, otherwise you will wait from scratch.'' means?
Device: redmi note 9 Pro Max ( Indian)

1. No, when you unlock bootloader for the first time on a device you have to wait for 7 days, especially when the device is new in the market
2.yes
3. After your request for bootloader unlock (i.e when the mi unlock shows 168 hours) do not add you account in the mi unlock status option in developer setting or you'll have to wait for 7 days again.
Even after all this I'm getting couldn't get info error
