I'm not trying to have my phone stolen again, is there an app that requires a pin to restart phone or something like that? Prey and Smart Lock Screen Protector did absolutely nothing to prevent this.

Folks can anyone tell me if there is an alternative way to wake up your phone besides pushing the power button, i know there are alot of threads about it but havent been able to find the answer?
Any help would be appreciated
Rockey
You could try screaming at it or violently shaking it, or perhaps banging a loud drum in close proximity to it. No guarantees that those methods would work but they would sure wake me up in a jiff.
Not as far as I know.
Myn's rom has a way you can put a sleep button in the notification bar. Edit: I just contradicted the question, idk of another way to wake it up. -_-

widgetlocker allows you to wake the phone with the volume keys
Plug it into a power source...this brings up the unlock screen.
Simple answer is......................... No
Slap it's ass and then throw water on it. Works on my ex. LOL
Send yourself a text message, plug it into USB.
Try this
Proximity Screen Off
It uses the proximity sensor to turn your phone on and off without touching the phone. It takes a bit of work to set it up but it does what you want.

If you turn off auto screen lock then you can wake up the phone with the volume buttons. There are several apps that turn ASL off. I only use screen lock when I go out and have my phone in its case. At home and more so when I'm tinkering around with the phone the screen lock can be a pain. Can I say screen lock more times or what? lol
download No Lock from the Market. Disable the lock screen, then you can use the power button, or the volume buttons to wake the phone
Hello.
It seems when you activate pin or password lock you loose the lock screen after screen turns itself off. It will lock after set number of minutes. At which point you have to first swipe then enter the code. Witch is dumb because the whole purpise of lock screen is to protect from accidental pressing something not make it inconvenience for user.
So is there a mod that would allow have swipe to unlock activate on screen off or power button and only lock the phone with pin after set number of minutes after that?
Thanks.
P.S.
Preferably stock lock screen. Love the water and ink effects.

You can do this using Tasker.
So I set my phone to use a PIN and to lock 10 minutes after timeout; power button does NOT lock instantly.
For whatever reason when I turn the screen off and turn it back on I need to swipe on the screen but not enter a pin.
In every phone I've ever had turning the screen on before the pin is activated would go straight to my home screen, how do I fix this?

You can't. That actually sounds like a pretty terrible idea to me. The point of at least swipe to unlock is to prevent accidental screen touches if your screen turns on in your pocket.
How can I lock my phone if I decide to lock it, while the self-locking stuff is disabled?
I prefer to keep my phone unlocked. So I put a 30 minute timer to prevent the self-locking, and disable the option of "immediately lock when power button is pressed."
But if I get stopped by the police I want to lock the phone immediately. Any way to do that? Currently I'd have to hold the power button, and select restart or power off, then confirm it, and that can be awkward if you are running away.
Run faster than the police.

I never tested it that way to be certain. But I was using "Screen Off and Lock" on my last phone, because the power button was getting flaky. So I used the SO&L shortcut as a substitute power button to turn the phone off. Then I'd wake it up with the Home button.
I believe SO&L would lock it immediately, even if normally it would not lock right away if I had used the power button.
Maybe give it a shot?

If we answer this, could we be charged with assisting a felon?
Just kidding about anything nefarious, hope it brought some smiles?
But the point remains. If I want to lock the phone occasionally, but generally keep the phone unlocked, I don't see a way to do this on the phone without resorting to aftermarket apps?
I think vanilla Lollipop android has the option to lock the screen when you are on safe tether, but that's disabled for me on the G4.
If you are worried about the police searching your phone have it auto lock when you push the power button and have it lock on a short timeout.
HELP!!!
This is a really weird problem with my non-rooted D850 on an MVNO (H20 Wireless). I have had the phone for several months and other that a battery issue, I'm super happy with it.
I had been using the knock code to lock the phone and my home as a safe place. Never had a problem with the knock code.
Two nights ago, in an attempt to appease a suspicious wife, I decided to change it to a pattern so she can get in, then I got a pair and decided to change it back to the old knock code. I then noticed that the knock, and swipe where grayed out and so did the research and cleared the credentials to bring the knock code option back. Now the knock code does not match and I can't change it to anything else.
When I reboot the phone the knock code request comes up. I start to do the knock code and it turns off the screen at the second "knock". I double tap toward the top of the screen to avoid the knock code area, the screen turns on and it's asking for the knock code, wich doesn't match, but I start the one I knew again and it turns the screen off again and the 2nd knock. After five times the phone asks for the back up pin and I'm in, and the phone immediately asks to change the lock screen. I change the screen lock it to a pattern as the knock and swipe are grayed out again.
I receive confirmation of the lock screen has been changed, but NOPE!!! NOT CHANGED!!!
It's still asking for the knock code, that doesn't match, at reboot, or when I try to change the lock screen. To add insult to injury the phone won't lock, even if I leave it sit for an hour (time out is 2 min and I'm not at my safe place)
Any thoughts other than a factory reset?
Not having any luck with research. I would love someone's input.
Beuller? Beuller? Beuller?
Now I find that I can't reset my phone b/c of the knock code that doesn't match
Factory Reset
You could try powering off the phone, holding the volume down and power button. When the LG logo appears, quickly release the power and volume button and after that hold them again, you will see a white screen with an option to reset the phone. Don´t know if this works with the knock-code, let me know!

I ended up doing a factory reset a couple weeks ago. I couldn't find ANY support information about this. The phone had the knock code locked in, and since it "magically" changed (or fat-fingered when trying to change originally) it rejected the only knock code I ever used. The LG volume/power reset is difficult for me (as are screenshots) to perform as I have fairly large hands and the buttons are right next to eachother.
Either-way, i ended up resetting the phone and now only use a PIN or pattern to lock it. Pitty many apps seem to not like the knock code as a secure locking method.
