Good day, I bought this device to use overseas it have clean imei. But when I put my own Sim card I found that it's carrier locked. This phone is not on contact so I headed to https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/unlockstep1 to unlock it. For what I received reply -
"We can't unlock your device today. You've tried to unlock this device too many times. Wait 30 days and then try again." So that's what I did receiving the same decline afterward.
When I called at&t support line they said that this imei is not listed on the AT&T database and that phone should be from another carrier (although it has an at&t logo on the back side).
Desperately I tried to use third-party websites like https://www.unlockbase.com getting error again - NO TOOLS FOUND TO UNLOCK YOUR Samsung Galaxy S7 Active!
Any solution on how I can use this phone with another carrier?
Any software unlock? I will root it for this

Hi.
I am unsure if my phone is unlocked and can proceed with porting my number over to Metro PCS. Please help me with advice how to proceed. I decided to move my service to Metro PCS since they are now a Tmobile company and after lots of research, I found that I can use my current phone/software as long as it was unlocked. I recently purchased my Galaxy s4 second hand and assumed it was not unlocked. I had immediately rooted it and flashed a new rom (Insane Kitkat 4.4.4). The phone has been working well. I already have requested and have my unlock code from Tmobile.
When I went to the Metro PCS store to port over my number, the phone did not request an unlock code when inserting their Metro PCS sim card (not activated). They said that my phone may already be unlocked or that it may not need to be unlocked since Metro is now owned by T-mobile. They stated that it may work if they go through the entire registration process, port over my number and activate it but that it would be a gamble. If it did not work, then I would not be able to go back and reactivate my sim immediately with Tmobile since it would then be in deactivated status with them.
I tried to find out if it is already unlocked by *#7465625# but my phone will not run this or any other USSD codes to verify. I keep getting errors when trying any USSD codes. A message says 'USSD code running' then "unable to process request".
A friend of mine has an activated Galaxy S4 on Metro PCS and I tried inserting her sim card to prompt for the unlock code but my GS4 just booted normally then showed 'not registered on network'. It did, however, have cellular signal bars. When I inserted my Tmobile sim into her GS4 it did ask for the unlock code normally.
I am at a loss now..
funny, I like to know if there is a way to check carrier unlock status for simcard without having to put a simcard in.
T-Mobile phones work with metropcs without the need to unlock
Could the custom rom be suspect?
Maybe need a stock rom to get carriers sorted out, then go to custom roms.
Pp.

I ended up contacting Tmobile and they stated that the phone showed unlocked status already but I think you are correct. I wasn't aware they could tell me this. It was very fast and super easy to find out.
I have the phone working great on Metro PCS now. USSD codes still failing though...
AT&T has given me an unlock code to release the phone so i can use it on sprint. The instructions say that a prompt should appear when putting in the sim, but nothing has happened. I was wondering if there was a way to force the prompt so I can input the code.
I'm on ICE rom, could that be a reason why I'm not getting the prompt? Can I go to the AT&T store with the unlock code and have them sim unlock it?
thanks.

Are you sure the phone is locked to AT&T? You title says "Unlocked HTC 10....". Your device could already be unlocked. Also, which sim card are you inserting and expecting code prompt to appear?
This is how it is normally done:
Lets say your device is locked to AT&T at the moment. You have to put another carrier's sim card(T-Mobile for example), then the code prompt should appear on the screen asking for the code.
Att never carried this phone...so how could they give you an unlock code? None are simlocked to ATT.
The guy I originally bought the phone from purchased the phone from HTC.com, which he then activated on att. when I bought the phone from him and tried to activate it on sprint, sprint told me the phone was carrier locked to att and I would have to request for an unlock code.
my unlock release went through and they emailed me the code, but when I put in my sprint sim card that sprint sent to me, there is no prompt that appears where I can put the 8 digit unlock code.

yeah I didn't know they did simlock either but I guess when you use a phone on their network it does.
when I tried to activate on sprint they said I had to take care of the att lock first. I have the unlock code but no idea where to use it. do I need to do something through the dialer?
Put Sprint sim in the device boot it up... IF theres a lock on the sim slot, it should ask for an unlock code which is input through the dialer when prompted

If device was bought from htc.com, then it should be unlocked already. I believe the radio frequency in your phone may not be fully compatible with Sprint.
Just check HTC's website and you will see that they offer separate models for Verizon and Sprint. - http://www.htc.com/us/go/buy-htc-10/
For example I have a T-Mobile service, so I purchased an unlocked HTC 10 which is compatible with AT&T as well. If I would have another carrier, such as Verizon or Sprint, then I would choose accordingly.

If the T-Mobile site says it's blocked, then it is blacklisted. Sorry, it won't work on any network. You need to call T-Mobile and ask why it's blocked.
And the only way to network unlock the T-Mobile S8/+ is with the T-Mobile unlock app. Flashing the unlocked firmware and then entering an unlock code won't work. T-Mobile has to be the one to unlock it, and it has to be initiated through the app.

Sorry but now TMB can be unlocked through reading codes no need for unlock app, plus if the imei is blacklisted @ TMB so it is blocked for TMB only which means if he use AT&T sim after unlock it will definitely work !!!

That's absolutely false. If it's blacklisted through T-Mo, it's blacklisted for all US carriers.
And what's your source saying you can use unlock codes on T-Mo? Because no one here has been able to do that. Many people have lost money buying useless codes for T-Mobile.
Couple months ago, I called T-Mobile to request to unlock my phone so I could use it in another country and they told me to use the device unlock app, but I couldn't, so they said that they're going to unlock it remotely for me so I don't have to do anything. I wait for a week or so and I called back and they said that they're going to try again but my phone is still locked. I tried to call them several more time but they just promise to do it and now, I still have my phone locked. What should I do?
when you use device unlock app and you said you couldn't, what do you mean?
if you qualify which i guess you do, then i think you have to use device unlock app to unlock. Just making sure your device is with Tmobile firmware, not other U1 firmware. Clear the device unlock app Cache before you click may help,.
He most likely bought his S8 directly from Samsung.com and got the T-Mobile branded one. Since it was not sold through a T-Mobile store the IMEI# is not in their list of devices coming from them. See this detailed post I made on how we get these phones unlocked: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72483309&postcount=10
Now TMB can be unlocked through server no need for unlock app
I have been trying to unlock a Samsung Galaxy S9 T-Mobile model SM-G960U to use it on local carrier (Ecuador) with no luck (I have use doctorSIM service too)
After booting the phone a got a message:
Security error.
This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software is locked. Call you mobile operator for additional support. Please note that a repair/return for this issue may have additional cost.
Trying to use the T-Mobile device unlock app, then a screen shows up with a message "Your device is network locked at this time, which prevents it from operating with other compatible wireless networks. To inquire about your device's unlock eligibility please continue" but after tapping the Continue button there is not option of permanent unlock, I got a message saying: "Server not responding. Please try again later."
I have trying to install de stock firmware G960USQU7ETG3_G960UOYN7ETG3_TMB (Android 10) downloaded from Frija using the Odin tool, doing a factory reset, wiping the cache, doing a NAND Erase with Odin, but the security error still shows up.
The device is able to browse on websites using Wi-Fi, what should I try next?
paid services are the only way. You won't get help on that here. They employ a different type of lock than most devices.
@OP
I don't know all the ins and outs of tmobile unlocking (not a fan of their service). However, I recently had in hand a paid off s9+ which was still locked. I ran the unlocking app multiple times over the course of a few hours. Each time it came back with an error (unsuccessful or something to that effect) when I tried the permanent unlock. For each attempt the tmo sim with active service was still installed. Eventually it did finally unlock. I'm not sure if a tmobile sim with active service is a necessity. Probably is as it has to authenticate the account for unlock eligibility.
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S9 Sm-g960u and needed to switch to T-mobile. I had no problem switching from one carrier to another because I was told that all Samsung Galaxy S9 devices came factory unlocked. I bought a T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Note from a friend and tried using the T-mobile app to unlock the phone I think there was a problem so he just called T-mobile and explained that he sold his old phone blah blah blah and since he owned it they just unlocked it right over the phone, no problems or issues.
