LG-US998 20B ROMHello everyone
This Rom is 100% Stock. TWRP 3.2.1-0 must first be installed as with Nougat Roms. Then you can install this Rom and have Oreo with working TWRP.
This zip is created from the original KDZ. I changed the Boot.img, so you do not have to reinstall TWRP. . .
I had made this for users who can not get ota's because they have Custom Recovery / Root installed
Sorry for my bad english i'm out of practice
Features *Stock build made from official KDZ
*Stock Build.prop
*Unrooted
*Boot.img modified to keep TWRP
*Remove dm-verity
*Remove forceencryptInstallation What you need *Unlocked Bootloader [How to do]
*Working TWRP installed [Link to unofficial TWRP]
*When you need Root, Latest Magisk [Download]
*US99820B(TWRP).zip [Download]
*GDrive Mirror US99820B(TWRP)[Download]
How to install When you are on Nougat: Reboot to recovery using button combo or reboot app (need root)
flash this TWRP.img Download reboot and Backup Dalvik,ART, Cache, System & Data (include not your internal memory) and Boot
in to your external sd or copy the backup from internal sd to your PC!
From Oreo: Install TWRP with this guide but with this img
For clean install: Wipe Dalvik/ART, Cache, System and Data (Recommend)
You can also keep your data by dirty flashing the zip. *Not tested!!!*
Flash US99820B(TWRP).zip
then Magisk zip when you need root
Reboot System
At the first time you boot to system, it can be TWRP says No OS installed. You can ignore it.
If TWRP asks if you want to install SU, hit no
Here you can find my other [Downloads.] There are IMG´s, KDZ´z and more!

I'm using v16.0. It flashed fine through TWRP after I rebooted the system. :good:
I was upgrading from US99820a to 20b. I haven't had any other issues to report.
This works well on my VS996 phone. Nothing to report. Thank you for uploading this.

I've been using Textra on 3 phones now. I had to change the setting in Textra MMS settings to "Legacy" and manually configure some of the APN settings. The MMSC automagically was correct and just edited the MMS proxy port to 80.
It seems there is something wrong with the Bluetooth on this stock ROM. I have a Fitbit and it hasn't been syncing the whole day. So I turned it off and then on, still didn't work. Then rebooted the phone, still nothing. I had to reset Bluetooth settings in order for it to work. A few hours later it stopped working again. Do we have e to reset settings all the time for Bluetooth to work? Or is this just a bug in this ROM?

Trying this on my US998, previously running the H930 Oreo Stock rom, it boots up into a "Secure start-up" screen, saying "Decryption unsuccessful", then says I need to perform a factory reset (and has a "Reset Phone" button). This won't touch my internal sd card, right? I did a full wipe (minus internal sd card of course) beforehand.

Factory reset will erase everything on the 64/128 GB drive except for the OS.
Did you wipe internal storage in TWRP, did you flash the no encryption file and the no check root file? The reason you're getting that message is you didn't do one or both of those in TWRP.

I flashed both of those when I first got my phone, several months ago. First thing I did was that and then install this rom, which I've been running fine ever since, but I'd like to switch to the actual US998 ROM since that's what I have.
So even though I've been running other Oreo roms just fine I still need to wipe internal storage? I just tried flashing lg-rctd-disabler-1.0.zip and no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip after doing this rom, but got the same thing about decryption unsuccessful.

Yeah, because you're flashing back to stock firmware. The only difference is it's a TWRP flashable zipped file, so you can install via TWRP. But it's not really a "ROM".

Well, I went ahead and wiped internal storage (after backing up important stuff to my external sd card), wiped & flashed the zip, plus two I mentioned before, but it did the same Decryption unsuccessful screen again. I went ahead and tapped the reset phone button (after removing my external, it booted into TWRP, I rebooted into system and it went to the Decryption unsuccessful screen again.

In TWRP you have to reformat data where you type yes.
Just wiping it leaves encryption.

Finally, Legacy and the MMSC setting was the trick to gifs showing up sent to me instead of showing as just a picture. Now if only voicemail would show up in notifications up top instead of getting a VZW random nonsense text letting me know i have a voicemail. I tell ya, VZW are a bunch of dicks, pulling this kind of **** for running an unlocked phone on their network and all these hoops we have to jump through to get **** to work and still some of it not working right...(voicemail for example). Thanks again. Running US998 20b stock flashed TWRP version. Magisk 16.0 and Adaway installed.

The name of the zip file and first post tells you what it is.
LG G3 D851, Pac-Man ROM, Tapatalk 4.9.5
do we flash it through TWRP? or any other custom recovery?
Yes, just as you would w/ any other ROM. Perform a full wipe beforehand, excluding both internal and external storage. And if you want to retain root and recovery, make sure to flash those immediately after (add them to the queue in TWRP).
Just flash this rom.. Everything works fine..

This may be a stupid question but I flashed this and it says I'm still vulnerable to stagefright, isn't this suppose to patch it.
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
I flashed the same 20g ROM, and according to the Lookout Stagefright Detector app, my device is not vulnerable to Stagefright.
works but
Followed these instruction using twrp
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/firmware-t-mobile-lg-g3-t2818667
I had to reset phone after flashing and setting up. Because the phone was no functioning correctly.
Unfortunately Stagefright CVE-2015-6602 is still vulnerable according to
Zimperium Stagefright detector app.
Lookout Stagefright Detector will not detect the latest Version 2.0 vulnerabilities of Stagefright and make it clear in there app description.
"This app does not support detection of Stagefright 2.0 vulnerabilities. "
So here we go again in the waiting game.
Wouldn't it be better if google took Stagefight out of the rom, so it can could be updated in play store?
painless
Wiped cache & Dalvik cache, flashed the OP update zip then flashed TWRP custom recovery and finally SupurSU.
Tested using Lookout Stagefright Detector and all is well.

I landed here because I tried the 20e to 20g update and got the "unexpected version" error via twrp. Responding to my own post cuz I got bold and did it anyways.
...So, I had TWRP 2.8.7.0 D851 installed. Did full backups with Titanium paid version and TWRP. Started with STOCK rooted d85120e, left it rooted, and used TRWP to install
1) STOCK d95120g from top of this thread,
2) TWRP d851 2.8.7.0 found elsewhere (above link is 2.8.6.0), and
3) the SuperSU zip from link found just above.
Rebooted system without any wipes. A few minutes to update apps on first reboot and mostly good to go. Had to update SupserSU binaries via normal mode, and reinstall busybox. Busybox froze on black screen on multiple attempts during it's startup check, so on next attempt, I didn't let it finish the check, just told it to install, and has been bliss all day. So far, so stable. Better have the backups and not need them than need them and not have them. Settings show D85120G and Lookout shows NOT vulnerable to stagefright.
Sitting pretty. Hope this helps others who couldn't use the 20E to 20G update method to keep stock roms with optional root.
Wiped everything as stated and flashing reboots TWRP, anyone know why this happens?
Thank you! Works - rooted 20e to 20g

You probably won't be able to afaik. You have an AT&T device which uses GSM network on Sprint which uses CDMA network. Change carriers or get a Sprint device.

Verizon is also CDMA, but Sprint and Verizon firmware is incompatible with each other. They don't work with each other.
The thing is, whoever you bought this phone from had unlocked the bootloader, went S-Off, and changed his CID to superCID before he locked it again without removiong S-Off which is a good thing for you. With S-Off you can still do modifications.
Try this (this will wipe your phone, so backup anything important to you like photos and such):
Download this firmware.zip
Rename the .zip to 0P6BIMG (that's a zero, not the letter) and place it onto the root of your extSD (by root of, I mean just on the card and not in a folder)
Power off your phone, and boot it up by holding both the power button and vol up. Keep holding them until it boots.
The flashing process should start automatically, but if it doesn't select hboot (in bootloader volume keys navigate and power button selects ~ covering all bases because I'm not sure of your skill level)
It will tell you to press vol up to flash. Do that. It will tell you press power to reboot. Do that as well.
That is WWE/European firmware for GSM carriers. I'm not sure if it will help or not, but I do know that if it doesn't work like you want that you will be no worse off than you are now. You'll either still have the same service as now, or you'll get what you you are looking for.
Good luck!

No, you won't brick.
Go here for TWRP. Use the primary download link and the instructions to flash it in fastboot.

I forgot to add, you'll have to unlock your bootloader first. You can do that via htcdev.com. Instructions are there.
You'll need to register an account there first, then select HTC One (M8), then follow the instructions.

After you flash TWRP like the other guy said. to flash ROM, find a rom you like that is compatible with your device (google it or ask it here), then put it in the internal storage or sd card in the phone, boot into TWRP recovery choose wipe, advance wipe and wipe data (this will clear all user data backup anything important!!) Wipe system, cache, dalvic cache and go back to main menu and choose install, find the ROM that you downloaded previously and Gapps (if required) and choose install and swipe to confirm. If the log shows "patching (blank) unconditionally" or has two error don't mind it, its normal.

Wiping system is unnecessary. It can also lead to problems if the ROM fails to flash. If it fails, then the OS will be wiped and your phone won't boot until you put another ROM onto your extSD to flash.
The best thing to do is just the normal wipe (it says in TWRP "most times this is all you will need" ~ also they call it advanced wipe for a reason, if you are not exactly sure about what you are doing there don't do it) and after the normal wipe/factory reset (or whatever it says, don't remember exactly, haven't flashed anything since this morning) flash the ROM
ALSO!! "like that other guy said":good:

Personally I recommend wiping system because ive had experience in which I flashed a rom without wiping the system and I had trouble with the settings and system apps after that so I decide to do a system wipe Everytime I flashed a rom and the problem never happened again. I just didn't want him to go through what I had to go through to recover the incident. However I don't do a system wipe if im just updating the rom (like from nightly 12/8 to nightly 12/10)

Nightly? CM?
Most ROMs (almost all of them) have a wipe system script in the ROM.zip that wipes /system during the flash in TWRP. You can recover from a bad flash with /system wiped, but it's a hassle. At least with devices that have an extSD you can easily recover from that by putting a ROM onto you SD card to flash and recover an operating system. So on theM8, it isn't a tragic problem. With devices like Nexus ones, there is no extSD and doing this can result in a non-bootable device. It is almost always unnecessary to wipe system before a flash of a ROM.
EDIT: about being to lazy too go back to check my username, I feel your feels. Lazy as I can be when I can be.

It's just how i do it and I've had no problem with it. I want to share my success and hope other people don't go through it the hard way. You don't have to agree with me, this is only my opinion you can have your own, I'm just saying that it saves a lot of Hassel for me but it may not work for you.

I fully agree here. I've flashed ROMs dozens, if not hundreds of times on various devices, and I never wipe system. If I did do it (maybe once or twice) it was because the ROM didn't boot; and even then, wiping system could have just been a placebo, anyway (it could have been something else causing the issue).
IMHO, its better to not wipe system when flashing a ROM. If you do run into problems you can always go back and do so (wipe system) and re-flash. But that is probably going to be 01.% of the time.
All the other times, its better to keep system, and in the case of a failed ROM flash, the user still has a means of booting into OS, and have more options to fix the problem (re-download files, etc.).
You'll also note that on the TWRP default wipe screen (which only wipes data, cache and Dalvik) it says "most of the time, this is the only wipe you need" (or something like that - since we're being lazy here, I'm too lazy to boot into reocveyr and get the exact wording!).
It says that for a reason, and those guys that develop TWRP are pretty smart.
SO, Is there ever going to be any custom roms or anything of the sort?? I check the site at least 2-3 times a week and nothing seems to ever change. Is this phone dead to the modders now??
Dirty unicorns said they are adding weeklies for the Z2 force starting the 6th. That's all I've heard other than the unofficial build of lineage os
AOSiP has an official build on their site. I'll get a thread going in a bit for detailed install instructions. The ROMs still aren't stable enough for official status. Gapps need to be baked in until they fix that, LTE still doesn't work for sprint. Video recording has no audio, VoIP traffic stutters... There are too many issues to release a "stable" build.
Edit:
Can the AoSip be installed from TWRP just as any other. There is also a kernel (Elemental Kernel in the nash download page.)Must this be used or can we still use pantheon. Can this not be installed from twrp as a regular rom? Boot twrp, Flash Rom, Flash Gapps, Flash Kernel, Reboot??? I am so ready for this. I did lots of rom porting, bug fixing on my old device. I feel if I can get in I can be some help.
Due to my impatience went ahead and tried to flash the latest AOSiP official from 3/28 Apparently I missed something because I am stuck at the boot animation. Here was my process exacly.
Pre Flash.
I was running the Tmo 8.0 27.1 December Security Patch. Pantheon Kernel. Twrp 3.2.1.1 on device.
Booted to twrp on device. Wipe Cache/Data/System. Flashed AOSiP 3/28/2018.zip . Elemental boot image. Reflash Twrp to device. Reboot to twrp. Flash OpenGapps 8.1 . Reboot to system.
Stuck at boot animation.
Apparently Im missing a step or doing things out of a particular order. Because I get no further than the boot animation.
Edit: After Playing with it a bit and wiping data and reinstalling gapps i get to a welcome screen with "google services has stopped" and bootloop repeatedly to that point. Wrong Gapps perhaps?

I usually wipe the dalvik cache after I flash an upgrade or anything major, that way I'm booting into a cleaner slate.

Don't flash gapps for one. After a flash to any AOSP based ROM, you need to boot back into bootloader "AFTER" the flash and do a "fastboot -w" this will wipe your whole internal SD but is needed to avoid any idiosyncrasies between how the 8.1 AOSP ROMs handle data over stock.

I will try these when I get home from work. So just to clarify.
Twrp->wipe->rom->kernel->reboot to fastboot->fastboot -w from fastboot->reboot->profit?
At what point do I flash gapps? Reflash twrp?
Thanks in advance guys.

Stock kernel will not work. Here is the AOSP kernel: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nypgskfAoSOpOa_E-pfyaRO_mp_JWFxw/view?usp=drivesdk
Edit: gapps is included, no need to flash... Yet
Edit 2: reflash twrp right after flashing ROM if you want twrp on your boot images.

Any special instructions as far as flashing goes. Since the rom section is kind of dead right now information seems to be kind of all over the place. My device is currently already on the stock Oreo rom. Can I just flash whatever rom zip and be good to go right now or do I have to worry about things like gapps, firmware and modem? Thanks for replying btw.

In ROMs section, I got permission by the maintainer to create a thread for AOSiP, it has detailed instructions. All ROMs have the same install instructions.
I am open to any clarification, just post any issues you have with the instructions given. (say which number and what needs clarified).
Edit: firmware flashing will always be needed. You need the same firmware on both slots for seem-less updates to work on that ROM.
Update, any build after 05/05 will have the sprint LTE fix. I.E. you will have LTE on boot without any trickery.
Stock Oreo US998 20H flashable TWRP zip. Original zip created by westwood24.
COMPATIBILITY
This zip is compatible with ls998, us998, and should be compatible with vs996 but im not 100% sure about that. But if someone confirm vs996 compatibility that would be great :good: Its been tested and vs996 is compatible as well
This zip is created from the original KDZ. It contains almost the complete 20H firmware, but the partition table rewriting part and recovery image (beside five to eight other images) is removed. I changed the system.img, so you do not have to reinstall TWRP (recovery-from-boot.p deleted) when ROM once booted. I also changed the partition size of system.img, so the vendorized people can install this too without having problems because of a too small system partition.
FEATURES
Stock build made from official KDZ
Unrooted
System.img modified to keep TWRP
Resized system.img (for Treble users)
Removed dm-verity
Removed rctd (LG's root checker tool daemon)
Removed ForceEncryption
Added DTS prop to enable DTS
Added all weather lockscreen prop to enable other weather
INSTALLATION

HOW TO INSTALL
When you are still on Nougat
you should start fresh: Reboot to recovery using button combo or reboot app (needs root; btw, Magisk offers this possibility too: Modules Menu then click three dot menu top right - Reboot to recovery
Then flash [this latest TWRP.img] via image flashing function in TWRP, reboot to recovery again (for fully working new recovery) and do a backup, then copy this backup to your PC.
Then initiate a factory reset. Wipe your system partition too in TWRP advanced wiping menu, copy the 20H firmware zip to your SD and install it. Reboot and enjoy
From Oreo
For clean install: Factory reset and wipe system
You can also keep your data by simply dirty flashing the zip.
*Be aware that problems may occur, maybe you need to do a factory reset to start fresh*
Flash the 20H zip, then Magisk zip when you need root, then reboot to System = you're DONE
If the first time you boot to system, it could be TWRP says No OS installed. You can ignore it.
If TWRP asks if you want to install SU, hit no (in newest TWRP SU is disabled, and the option to install the TWRP app is disabled too.)
Rom Version: 8.0 Oreo
Android security patch level: 2019-3-1
Just give a thanks if you like the zip!
You want to help me with a [donation?] Not asking for it, I have fun doing this for you, but feel free...

I'm applying for dev status on afh. This will make it easier to download the zips in the future since gdrive adds it to the gdrive of the user downloading and then has to download it again from their drive. Makes no sense google

No problem ?. We should be getting 20F soon and I'll be doing this one as well. Hopefully within days of it dropping. But being a single dad of 2 little kids and a full time 40 hour a week job plus my like 10 other android projects I maintain, I can't definitely say it will be within days of it dropping though
Just an FYI to those curios, I dirty flashed this zip on my frankensteined US998 that was running 20D and it worked great. I ran a nandroid just in case but after flashing the zip, doing a cache wipe and reflashing magisk, i was up and running where i left off.

Ditto man! Flashed over D, flashed Magisk, flashed Xposed, cleared Art and Cache and rebooted, and all was well! Great job!
Just dirty flashed it, and of course works great.
A lot better than last weekend when I updated my wife's still-bootloader locked/unrooted (don't ask) V30 from US998 20A to US998 20E via dev patched LGUP -- and in a moment of carelessness (trying to do three things at once) FORGOT to choose "UPGRADE" instead of the default "REFURBISH". It finished quite quickly -- and quite completely WIPED her phone. Ouch. I was then busy the next 2 or 3 hours setting up her phone again...
Changing the subject, for those with US998 and want to try something different... This is a US998 V30/V30+/V30S great Magisk module by @TotallyAnxious that
* Enables dual speaker mode. That part is sort of based on @Whiskeyomega mod, but is TWRP flashable.
* HIM for all earphones
* Also has some kernel tweaks.
* Installs YouTube ad-free "Vanced"
* Google Dialer
* Other stuff
AnxiousV30 magisk mod (v106)
Try it out if you wish.

Mine automatically, I guess, went to Google drive. I had to go into drive and download it a second time. That's when it went to download.
When I clicked on the "zip" file in the OP, it took me to the OP's Google drive to download it. I guess it then automatically downloads to my Google drive.

For best results a clean flash is recommended for this package if you are not already running 20p Debloated
Format data, and remove any apps installed to external sd. Then wipe system, dalvik, cache, data, internal storage
This will ensure no lingering apps are left behind.
If coming from Nougat, Clean Flash is Highly Recommended
Wipe Dalvik, System, Data, Cache... then flash
If coming from previous Oreo Versions
Wipe Dalvik, Cache, and System, and optionally data and internal storage
If you do not perform a clean flash, you may need to manually remove the apps left behind after flashing

Encryption Notes
In Android, a stock device will have it's data encrypted. Often when working in TWRP on an encrypted device, you will be greeted by prompt asking for a passcode in order to decrypt the device. Unless that port of TWRP has been written for your specific device and supports decryption, you will not be able to decrypt the data on your phone. If you cannot decrypt the data, then TWRP cannot mount system and/or other partitions it needs to mount in order to safely flash anything. In order to solve this problem, sadly, you have to format the data partition on your phone (losing all personal data accumulated on the internal storage, so back it all up manually) The steps for this process are Format Data in TWRP, Reboot to recovery (to mount partitions), then flash your rom and root. There are a few tools out there to disable force encryption on your device. See the Required section above for links for this device.
Packages have been successfully tested VIA the methods outlined above.
If anyone has any issues with one or more of these packages, please let me know. Thank you!

Worked for me. Thanks
Thank you kind sir!
Running fantastic on my H932 here. Thanks!
I discovered an issue with the debloated rom. It didn't remove all of the bloatware it should have, and for some reason I started having problems with video playback. so I'm going to remove the link and build another one. ill upload the new copy today
To add to issues, using both debloated and full, when I flashed it over my encrypted phone it seems to break the encryption, couldn't boot untill I formated data. And password no longer worked in twrp. Seems the partition was corrupted and unreadable.

tbh i am not sure if that can be fixed. are you using the latest TWRP that supports decryption? I would probably expect this from the FullStock zip. And the debloated rom flashes a modified boot image with force-encryption and dm-verity removed. These zips were built around unencrypted devices, so i've never even looked into an issue like this.
Minus the issues i mentioned in my last post, updating with either zip has always worked fine for me via clean or dirty flash. But i have always been unencrypted.
Also, ive always had a problem with lock screen security when using TWRP in certain scenarios. If I restore a backup with the same lock-screen setup, ive always had to wipe the gatekeeper and lock db files.

I've kept unencrypted up until now, too. I don't think it can be fixed easily, I just tested with the kdz and the same thing happens. Might toss up a warning in the op just so people know it might heppen.

there is a general note about encryption in the instructions section. if you want, I can do a debloated rom with an unmodified boot image. But i think the underlying problem with encryption might be a TWRP issue.

No big deal, mainly just wanted to make sure anyone else that might be effected is aware. Unmodified zip probably won't work as it happens with the kdz, too.
Debloated ZIP has been re-uploaded.
Ffs this bootloader broke my sound.. is there any way to roll back bootloader? Do I just flash 20p bootloader?

Has nothing to do with "bootloader". Just flash previous zipped KDZ. Yeah, you can flash 20p TWRP-flashable 20P.
Did you try to update through too many versions? This has the DTS libs, which can be enabled in root. With US998, you have to update through some stages to DTS-infused KDZ if dirty flashing, so may be the same with H932.

I'm confused about your obsession with the bootloader...
Why not flash the entire TWRP-FLASHABLE zip KDZ?
Oh NOW you mention custom ROM.
I thought your were on rooted stock firmware.
And yes, most of the Lineage ROMs can't yet handle the DTS stuff in the latest US998, VS996, H932 and other variants.
You have to go back to pre-DTS firmware to then install the non-stock custom ROMs.

As @ChazzMatt said, i dont think this package is what broke the sound. I think LOS is the culprit. I would clean flash 20P if you want to stay on LOS

I am still having video problems with the debloated ROM as well. I am going to do some more troubleshooting and ill post an update. Now that @ChazzMatt mentioned this update has DTS related stuff in it, I think I have an idea how to go about it.

Was working fine before the flash. But I'll just wait for a fix to be released. My download mode is broken too but I still got recovery. Not worth redoing everything as he has a test build ready.
I was on 20p before lineage btw.

For the video problems, I was able to fix this by flashing the 20r Bootloader and Modem zips. I updated the OP to note that the Bootloader/Modem firmware is required until I have some time to build a Debloated with those packages included.
