I'm confused right now. I've got a custom recovery, but flashing the SuperSU zip file leaves me with this...

I ordered a new SD card just for the root process. I'm at this step where I'm supposed to just flash the zip file according to countless threads on this. I should mention I'm on the BND-L24 variant.
I realized it was my mistake to root with SuperSU, as I am on the Oreo update. I ended up flashing Magisk and it worked like a charm.

I am no expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt.. but you are booting into the stock recovery. The same thing happened to me so I read where someone else tried this. . I installed the TWRP App from the Play Store and used it to install TWRP. It worked for me. YMMV
Just got the update notification.

Did you restore stock boot.img through magisk and update, then reinstall magisk.
Or did you flash the stock boot.img with a computer and then update, then get the patched image from magisk?
I had this question too and got a thorough response here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-do-i-update-with-ota-while-having-twrp-and-magisk.4237505/
I hadn't rooted my phone. I usually don't until I put a custom rom on it. I'm waiting to see if resurrection remix goes official for this phone.
I had a problem with my bluetooth pairings being list on every restart, but i found the patch for it which seems to work for everyone.
I dont know how my device is rooted (i bought it as is), so an unable to install the patch file (using TWRP or Magisk).
Kindly guide my how am i supposed to install.
