LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Hey nice to see a another Rom for m5. I'm the carbon Rom developer from open kirin. Do you have your device trees somewhere on github ?
This is great news! I've just received a new M5 8.4 and, while I love the hardware, I really don't like EMUI or the sheer number of pre-installed apps. Gonna hold fire for an official TWRP release though.
How deeply satisfying to finally be rid of the dreadful Huawei interface, its even more dreadful HiSuite nonsense and being able to install AdAway.
Thank you very much!
Unfortunately, Bluetooth doesn't work as planned.
I have a BT receiver to connect my 3,5mm headphone to, but the receiver just doesn't pair with the tablet. Receiver works fine with OnePlus 5 and a Lenovo Tab 4 Plus 8''.
Also, it won't connect to the other tablet.
I have no idea how to debug this, but am willing to help out.
Hi. Thank you....
I have installed your rom and twrp. I have been using it for 5 days.
Great rom and recovery. Everything is working fine.
I can confirm that there is No bug. You have done a fine Work...
Awsome work!
Just one maybe stupid question,
how is the widevinelevel on this rom?
i cant Flash encryption failed to mount is the error
---------- Post added at 01:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:25 PM ----------
and by the Rom the same Problem error 7 fail to mount
Hate to be a hassle, but can anyone confirm if this works on the 8.4" SHT-AL09?
My previous flashing has always been confined to a single device with no more variation than the radio of radio: GSM or CDMA. With the more varied models of M5, I thought I best double check.
Thank you kindly in advance. ^.^
---------- Post added at 11:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 AM ----------
By chance, has anyone confirmed this to work on the 8.4" SHT-AL09?
Thank you kindly in advance. ^.^
Works perfectly with the 10.8" MediaPad M5 with 128Gb RAM. Thank you for all your hard work :good:
I bought the CMR-W09, and I noticed that google assistant works, but is unable to unlock the device.
And then I found this thread, and I am concidering using this rom.
Is anyone able to unlock their device using google assistant voice recognition on this rom?

I also have the same problem with bluetooth. My mediapad will not connect to my bose quietconnect 35 headphones (my other devices connect to my headphones perfectly) - This is definitely a bug.
wow. Thats nice.
Now i cannot decide between the mediapad m5 (8inch) or the Mi pad4. Not sure which one the devices is better I never expected lineageos for the m5! Will it become official lineageos at some point (sorry about asking)?
twrp doesnt want to mount the rom m5 10 wifi

The mediapad m5 all the way. And newegg business has the 10.8 inch version for $360 right now free shipping. It is quick and the fingerprint sensor is honestly the fastest ive ever tested.
And idk if you use the built in speakers on tablets, but the speakers on this tablet are insanely loud and clean!

Not so sure about this as i do not need 10 inch and / or a loud speaker. Working Lineage is much better and i am pretty sure that the dev community will be much better for the Xiaomi due to the qualcomm chipset
im on the 10.8 wifi version and trying to flash this rom I get error 7. Is anyone else getting this error?

I had a lot of trouble getting it installed on my 8.4 wifi tablet. What I ended up doing was (in TWRP):
1. slide-to-wipe
2. format data
3. wipe system (advanced button)
4. reboot to recovery again
5. install rom and gapps
For some reason that reboot after wiping system seemed to have fixed the problem for me. On first boot, I got a lot of google framework crashes and couldn't complete the setup wizard, so I went back into TWRP and wiped data and dalvik again. After that, everything worked normally.
---------- Post added at 08:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 AM ----------
Only encountered two bugs so far (US 8.4" WiFi model):
- Unable to pair to BT headphones (MDR-ZX770BN). Devices show up on pairing screen, but BT appears to crash when you try to use it. Also unable to change BT device name, it just reverts to "HUAWEI MediaPad M5".
- Magnetic flip cover does not sleep/wake screen. It appears the magnetic sensor itself is working, according to "Sensors Multitool" app.
And one minor cosmetic issue:
- Device seems to think it's a phone. On first boot it asks you to insert a SIM card, and it shows the "No SIM card -- No service" message and system icon.

I left my phone overnight and the lag seems mostly gone now.
Do note that I left it to charge overnight, and iirc since Oreo, if the device is fully charged, it begins optimizing the dex files to produce oat files which perform better. Now I am a bit rusty regarding Android ART internals so I may be wrong.
Either way, it's a night and day difference and my phone is much smoother now. (PS: I am also using firekernel, but I flashed that yesterday with the ROM)
---------- Post added at 08:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 AM ----------
Anyone else having issues flashing Magisk? More specifically, does TWRP (3.2.3) crash while flashing Magisk?
Do note that I use firekernel, so this is in no way a bug report or complaint to our awesome dev. I'm just asking if anyone else is having issues.
PS: I don't mind making a bug report on the stock kernel if someone else also has this issue on stock.

Just managed to install Magisk 17.1, I removed the boot image from the LOS16 ROM zip, and then I just patched it in the Magisk Manager app, modules and root are working fine by the looks of it.

All LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
Awesome! thanks!
A couple questions...
1) I currently have Linageos 16 installed, do I need to wipe /data?
2) can I install just the MIUI firmware without reflashing MIUI?
3) does the carrier detect tethering? The carrier does not detect tethering in my current install.
4) If i'm connected to a VPN will the VPN connection get passed through to tethered devices?
Yes, I would advise you to clean install as I am not sure where you got that old build. By doing so, you can flash the latest MIUI firmware while at it.
As for the remaining questions I have no answer. Try and report.

thanks.
when i try to download i keep getting an error from goolge drive saying the file has been moved to trash and cant be downloaded.
Regarding to Q, you can try this procedure:
1. Flash MIUI global 11.0.5.0.Q using TWRP
2. Reboot into TWRP
3. Flash LOS and optional gapps using TWRP, wipe cache but not data
If you don't have Q correctly installed, you'll see an error message telling you a Q-based MIUI is required. If you don't see it, you should be good.
New build uploaded.

how is this rom compare with pixel experience or havoc? any idea?
I have installed this ROM. So far most things seem to be working good. I did have a problem with some gapps crashing so I went through and uninstalled then reinstalled them and they are working good. The only other issue I've had is trying to add a fingerprint for unlocking, I get a message that says the fingerprint reader is dirty. I was finally able to add a fingerprint after very carefully moving my finger around a lot.
I didn't have this problem, but there's an issue with fingerprint sensor position if you choose to hide the notch. I had no problem save my fingerprint, through a screen protector I put on 2 years ago.

Yes, that's a known issue. But I am sure you can live with it for now, just don't hide the notch.
I simply wanted to mention that to eremeya if he she happened to change notch before trying to store fingerprint.
One issue that came up is the settings app will crash when trying to do certain things. So far whenever I try to look at wifi networks or change carrier settings, or when I try to clear the cache or delete data from an individual app settings crashes.
It the NFC and fingerprint sensor works fine? if so I am going to flesh this rom.

Not sure about NFC as I haven't had a chance to test yet but fingerprint is mostly working fine. If it gives you an error and says the reader is dirty just keep trying with different positions and you should eventually get it.

FAQ.
Q. The rom can't pass cts, why?
A. We don't use hacks to bypass safetynet attestation, we just use our fingerprint, so cts won't pass by default. You should install magisk and use magisk hide props module with pixel 4 fingerprint.
Thanks for the awesome rom - it has transformed my device (8T)
I'm having a problem (since installing) whereby the phone is stuck on "slow charging" no matter which cable/charger I use. I've tried cleaning out the port, but it really wasn't the issue.
Is there some different firmware I can try installing?
NB: The device isn't hot (or even warm)
Also, could be my imagination but it seems to charge properly if I turn it completely off...

Would be fine if you write a faq with most common questions (like the ones you answered), just a suggestion.
Wow, this ROM doesn't have a call log bug when using VoLTE.
(Other AOSP based ROMs had an issue for me, caller's number always showing with my number when incoming call)
Thank you so much to the dev.

If you want safety net to pass. Download Magisk Hide Props from Magisk Manager and set the props from 8T European (MIUI10 fingerprint)
Thank you for your work OP, being a LOS official mantainer is a hard and often unrewarded job. I hope you can find solution for those non-fatal bugs with the camera and mic whenever you and erfanoabdi have spare time.
Any recommended gapps package variant?? I've heard the full package causes problems with LOS
Can you add support for Sony IMX582 sensor on some 8T units? Or it's already included?

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Oooo
Very exciting news!
question: Why are you working on Android 9 instead of jumping to Android 10? (i think i saw in the other thread that you already managed to boot it up on your tablet)
Awesome! Btw encryption is listed as not working, does this mean android adoptable storage won't work?
Been using it for half a day now. I'm amazed that it's not laggy/buggy for a testing build. The build is fluid and smooth. I thought it'll random reboot every 5 minutes. No force closes or reboots until now. I might be spesking too soon though.
For rotation I used *rotation control* app from the play store and the controls are pinned in the notifications.
And Because it felt that stable I went and installed magisk and safetynet passed with the same steps explained in the Oreo thread.
Pie gestures are there for who cares about it. And you can enable A10 gestures with magisk and an app.. You can google (Android 10 gestures for android pie) and it's worth it tbh.
ofc If I encounter any bug first thing I'd do is removing magisk.
Appreciate your work man. Hope working on the Oreo builds helped a little in bringing Pie. We saw a glimpse of the huge efforts you made to bring Oreo and you keep pushing through.. Hope you're getting enough sleep n rest.

Yes, unfortunately it doesn't work ... I guess it's working in the same way like in LOS 15.1.
I'll spend a few days in the near future to see why it doesn't work and maybe I'll find a solution.

Update !
All sensors are working now on LOS 16.0
Hi !
Fingerprint sensor it's also fixed right now
Unfortunately the camera does not seem to be able to activate very easily ...
Starting now to build Android 11 , Lineage OS 18 ... if I manage to boot successfully, I guess I'll abandon this project ( and also I'll skip Android 10 ) and I'll start working on the last Android !
Why Android 9 without Camera working, instead Android 11 without Camera working, right ?
Anyway, I'll keep you updated ...
Hello,
First of all, I want to thank you for your amazing work. I really appreciate it.
Bugs in my btvdl09:
1) My bluetooth keyboard (logitech k380) connects but the tablet suddenly shuts down and boots into eRecovery. I'm having the same issue in LOS 15.1 and mentioned this issue in the thread. For LOS 15.1 I managed to resolve the issue by flashing your boot_lte_4.3.img kernel but I got the well-known wifi + bluetooth speed problem back!
The Google drive links of console-ramoops-0 and dmesg-ramoops-0 files (I don't know how to attach files to posts in threads.):

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Oi5Od8U3If28GszdlRuZ6r8FNbJ58DPK/view?usp=drivesdk
2) When I insert a flash drive, everything works fine but as soon as i unplug the flash drive, it suddenly shuts down.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OuHnnerAwUema7ufClNibt9XnByIIhLw/view?usp=drivesdk
3) I noticed that the display becomes snowy from time to time. It happens often under rather heavy tasks like surfing the web with 15 tabs open or installing something etc.
Below is the log file and a screenshot of the incident.

OK, adoptable storage does not seem to work; formats card to 20% then reboots. Have to create partition on SD card using my PC, then format SD card to portable storage on M3 I am not able to download books using Amazon Kindle, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, won't download to main or SD Card. Other apps seem able to download OK Kindle error is 'Device Storage is Full' 19GB free on main, and 32GB free on SD Card
EDIT: And, I missed the part about the new TWRP version... time to start over.
OK, starting over, have confirmed that adopted storage still does not work.
SIM fixed right now on LOS 16.0 Android Pie !
Info not concerned to the WiFi devices.
The fix will be added to the next update !
Wooow.. U did it Los 16 for the M3...
Thank u so much for your hard work...
OK, new TWRP, fresh app installations, SD Card as portable storage, same problem with Kindle (on internal storage) being able to download.
EDIT: Apparently, when Kindle was restored, it did not automatically get storage permissions. Fixed that, and now working fine!
Will now try to download a Google Maps 'offline map' to internal.
This is strange... gboard installs, but voice typing does not work. Have checked permissions, that's not the issue. When I try to use it, says 'initializing' then that stops and does not allow voice input.
The problem may be that I don't have 'Voice Typing' showing under setting, even though gboard is installed... maybe because I used pico gaaps? Thinking about installing a larger package...
EDIT: Downloading the Micro GAAPS package added voice typing back into the system... I've turned on all permissions for board, set Google Voice typing to 'on,' and still not working.
I'm open to suggestions!

Ok, the OP was updated right now with the links for download a very early test ... of course it's not be intended to be used, only for test and fun for the moment !
Thank you for your attention !
OK, installed with OpenGapps Micro; on boot, getting error 'Android System' 'There's an internal problem with your device. Contact your manufacturer for details.' This shows up over the 'Hi there' screen. I will try to continue the installation..
EDIT: It is not able to see wifi networks. I will skip and see what happens.
EDIT: Able to setup PIN; no option for fingerprint on setup.
EDIT: Booted Lineage, but still not able to see any wifi; at this point, I will stop testing.

Yes, I have the same issue after boot ... I guess it'll be fixed in the next update, it's nothing serious ... Just a Warning !
Also you can consult What's Working list from OP !
Anyway, thank you very much for confirmation that it's booted successfuly on BTV-W09 !
I saw the title and I just laughed.. man I never ever expected to get a custom rom on this device let alone Android 10! .. will try it as soon as I can.

This is a big surprise for me. Never expect to see a custom ROM for this device. Time to try to unlock the bootloader. Lineage 17.1 is a great ROM. Thanks!
Project Status : WIP. So I guess we will not be able to get the camera working?

Yeah I know I read the short not working list haha.. And I can see that some didn't. Maybe make it bolder and bigger. XD
I used reverse tethering to get some kind of internet conenction. Installed some apps and I'm having fun. it's usable. Posting this comment from it now.
Chrome got some freezes. But the stock browser is working fine. For me if it's not soft rebooting every couple of seconds then it's usable. Job well done.
Amazing, because we can take modernity on our device thanks to you. I stay still EMUI, however I am glad that you give us great possibilities.
Thank you very much surdu_petru.
Hi !
Bluetooth & Audio fixed right now on Android 10 LOS 17.1 ... unfortunately, audio it works exactly like on Android 9 with the same issues .
For root, https://download.lineageos.org/extras only goes through 16.0 Wouldn't this ROM require 17 ?
