This is for the Mediapad M5.
NOTE: Decrypting data is not currently supported. MTP also does not work, but you can use adb to push and pull files.
Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
NOTE: Decrypting data is not currently supported. MTP also does not work, but you can use adb to push and pull files.
NOTE: fastboot flash to recovery_ramdisk and not to recovery as this device does not have a regular recovery partition
Fastboot Install Method (No Root Required):
You will need the platform-tools from the Android SDK on your computer. Find the Android command line tools section on the page linked and install the SDK tools package. From the SDK Manager, download only the platform-tools to get adb and fastboot binaries.
Windows users will need proper drivers installed on their computer. You can try the simple FWUL adb/fastboot ISO or the Naked ADB drivers or the Universal ADB drivers if you don't already have a working driver installed
On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot bootloader
You should now be in fastboot mode.
Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your adb and fastboot binaries. Rename the image to twrp.img and type:
flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img
reboot
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
We need your help! The bulk of TWRP work is done by 3 people on a volunteer basis. We have pushed most of our device files to our github and we have a gerrit instance. If you have the ability, please help us maintain our official devices and/or add your device to our official device list. Thanks in advance!
BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 40 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to PM me directly, contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that's struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!

Have you tried MagiskBeta16.4?
For me it works with the Beta.
On stock and on Lineage
unfortunately i get error 64 wrong architecture when installing opengapps, which is a known issue for twrp 3.2.x

Thank you for your work. One question:
Why in TWRP for Emui 8.0 (link below) it is possible to decrypt data and here it is not?
Also MTP is working there..

Huawei Mediapad M5 - CMR-AL09 8.0.0.161(C432)
I am use twrp_p10_0.1.img : this TWRP work with encrypt on MY device
If i lost my device - the "data" is encrypt
If i use TWRP without encrypt the first action = boot to TWRP, go to Wipe, format "data", reboot from TWRP to TWRP
Now is "data" without crypt. If i lost the device now : data is readable from everyone
I am setting PIN for login / stand by and wake up (screen off and on).
If encrypt work you see by start recovery (TWRP), TWRP need PIN and decrypt "data"
If this TWRP work on other M5 Model/Coutry(= build) : i dont know / i dont have
Thank you for bringing TWRP to the M5 - really appreciate your hard work! Will this work with the 8.4 WiFi variant, SHT-W09?

Any problems or weird behaviour? Is Magisk Hide working okay? Any app or service impacted by root / Magisk?
Do you use Netflix and / or Amazon Prime Video? Still working and receiving HD streams?
Thanks! :good:

Awww man, I'm too scared to! Just bought the thing - if someone's already dared to root, I'd rather find out from them if it FUBARs the tablet! Haha!

Can't answer HD in Netflix & Amazon but Magisk hide and root works fine without issue. I'm not using this version of TWRP but you don't need TWRP to install Magisk.
The tablet with this LineageOS is only L1 security level when checked with DRM info, so no HD on both Amazon Prime and Netflix.
@DF5JT sorry, but L1 means already best security mode otherwise it would have L3 only. Netflix and Amazon Prime videos should work without issues ... unless you unlocked the bootloader which might have influence.

So far user feedback has been positive.
Please let us know your experiences.
Current known issues (some bad English here!):
When in the game scenario and answer the phone call, user will not hear the sound and cut off the call after 30 seconds later.
Can not open the icon manager and showing "System UI has stopped"
When you install Avast.apk don't have any scan notice.
Working with twinview dock and open one of a app on the phone side then press twinview side panel recent key. The phone side will back home screen.
When using DT Dock or twinview or Pro dock to play Netflix will keep portrait mode and only show subtitle.
Any bugs?

Successfully update to Android 10 beta with magisk installed but now I am without TWRP. Tried flash TWRP with adb but it reboot to bootloader every time. Maybe TWRP must be updated for Android.
This is failing for me. Gets to 2% then fails. I'm on Rooted 128 GB Tecent with WW ROM, fingerprint is changed to WW.

Does anyone have the Android 10 beta full RAW firmware ???
Hello, if anyone has access to the full Android 10 beta RAW firmware, please share it with us. Thanks !!!
Wow it's amazing. The red tint gone and it's way too smooth
It seems this has also broken the ability to enable VoLTE (*#*#4636*#*#) greys out the options but they do show up in the Settings menus. So not sure what that means?
EDIT: Ignore, its because the profile set in PDC was reset as someone else has pointed out. I JUST got VOLTE to work again after working with AT&T to get a provisioning error resolved (this was on their end, but probably because I was swapping SIMs between phones for testing)
Im going to let this settle a little bit before I try upgrading again to this (I downgraded back to 9 in fear that VOLTE wasnt going to work again)

To users who have installed this internal build, please share your experience report here if you're willing to, thanks.
If HMD will push Android 10 officially, you can install it under ADB sideload easily and link will be posted here.
Internal build version: A1N-5060-0-00WW-B01
It will be updated from: A1N-414K-0-00WW-B01, which is unreleased January 2020 Security Update.
Let me tell you how to verify:
1. Dial *#*#227#*#* to check current Version. If older than A1N-414J-0-00WW-B03, update to 414J before proceed. (Alternately, dial *#*#7837#*#* to check, proceed if displays 00WW_4_14J-B03)
FYI, 414J is December 2019 Security Update.
Alternately, you can use command "fastboot oem getversions" under fastboot mode / Download mode to check current firmware version.
2. Install A1N-414K-0-00WW-B01-414J-0-00WW-B03-update.zip with adb sideload under recovery.
3. Reboot to normal OS and recovery again - it's not over yet.
4. Install A1N-5060-0-00WW-B01-414K-0-00WW-B01-update.zip with adb sideload under recovery.
5. Reboot your phone.
That's it.
If Android 10 official update pushed publicly, link will be updated here.

To prevent throttle error, I didn't upload them to Google Drive or other cloud storages. Sorry for inconvenience.

Can it work in TA- 1004? I'm waitting android 10 in Nokia 8 Thank kiu so much
Hi, I installed Android 10 on my Nokia 8 sirocco and since then, impossible to make gcam work. I have tried many versions but the application closes directly. Gcam worked perfectly on android 9. Do you have any solutions? Thank you.
Hey is it possible to install this on Nokia 8(TA-1004)?
To experienced developers:
Here's the full partition dump of Android 10 for A1N.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261769554
If you'd like to port this to Nokia 8 (NB1, TA1004/1012/1052), now it's your chance.
Note this cannot be flashed to Nokia 8 NB1 directly.
To subscriber of this topic:
Nokia 8 Sirocco just got Android 10 official update.
If you have installed A1N-5120-0-00WW-B01 build (dial *#*#7837#*#* and output might be 00WW_5_120-B01), then it's same to official build and enjoy it.
We're fetching full OTA link and update soon.
Ok,
Because I was tired of waiting for Nokia to send the OTA update to my phone, I did this manually on a device that was running the latest March security patch and Android 9 using ADB and the A1N-5120-0-00WW-B01-414M-0-00WW-B01-update.zip package.
Follow the below guide if you want to update your device as well:
- dial *#*#7837#*#* and check that software is 414m
- download adb and fastboot from Google official site ( https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip )
- download the update ( https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261750327 )
- reboot the phone in recovery mode and go to Apply update to ADB ( guide how to reboot to recovery: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-8-sirocco/recovery-mode/ )
- placed all the above files ( firmware and google adb abd fastboot ) in the same folder open a CMD window and use the following command: ADB sideload A1N-5120-0-00WW-B01-414M-0-00WW-B01-update.zip
- wait for the update to finish, select reboot system now and reboot the phone.
Voilla, you are running the latest Android.
Things noticed after the update:
- phone feels a little bit snappier
- interface is the same, minor icon changes bug generally is the same
- has android 10 gesture navigation which does not work with a third party launcher

Hi!
Can you tell me how I can flash the latest full OTA of A1N-5120 build? I'm already on this update, but my phone is fully buggy after the official OTA update. I make a factory reset with clearing cache and some other folders by boot menu and I think I was delete something important. Get me advise, please! Thanks!

I also have some problems with the phone running the latest OTA and also want to flash the latest OTA from file because neither factory reset from Settings nor from Recovery menu didn't help.
I've downloaded the file from https://android.googleapis.com/packages/ota-api/nokia_a1nsprout_avenger00ww/69b78c6f6a866f314a3b50e7ac88cd10e94233e7.zip, then copied it to the root of my Sirocco and dialed *#*#874#*#* but that didn't work for me.
I read that the file should have correct name - may be that is the problem?
What is the correct name for file so that it could be accepted as an update by the phone already running the same OTA?

Thanks man.
Managed to get magisk working with this rom..alongside twrp
Simply install latest magisk canary APK (284). Give it super user when it asks and restart the app
Then when clicking install...it gave me option of direct install (make sure recovery is selected). It should install successfully
I then rebooted to bootloader and to get to twrp hold volume up after selecting recovery and dont hold anything to boot back to Los..
Can't share my boot image if that helps anyone

I gave it a try. It did indeed let me patch directly. It was very unstable. Things asking for su multiple times and not remembering my choice, certain modules not installing, and I always seemed to lose root entirely after rebooting

yup... sorry, forgot to post... I assumed it was after installing modules.
Lockscreen not work for me, in all gsi roms.
Only stock works.
rom works great, feels like a new phone.
model XT1952-4.
not working unfortunately is the FM radio.
based on the error message when trying to install FM apps, it looks like the kernel driver was not included in the rom?
I can deal with the fingerprint not working, it would be really nice to get the FM driver included so I don't have to use data.
Overall the phone is so much better with this rom, Thank You!!!!
Hi, probably a stupid question, considering I'm new: what does this differ from the Lineage OS instructions for Moto G7 Play at their web site? I mean, why shouldn't I stick with their instructions?
I just want to understand what is at stake here (again, I'm new at this world of smartphone os's)
I'm really interested in replacing Android (which I like, but it's... Google ) and all carrier bloatware stuff by a free OS.
EDIT: Nevermind. I've just realized that it isn't for the G7 Play, it's for G7 only. Sorry about this (maybe useful for other newbies like me)
Thanks for all the work
Everything seems stable been using on daily driver for 2 days now. Only issue is bluetooth audio not working. I'm wondering if the Motorola face unlock app would work however current version isn't available.

I'm using this on a Moto g⁷ Play in the USA, currently it's pretty stable. As for what's at stake, you lose access to Bluetooth audio, fingerprint & faceunlock unless you have SD card formated as portable storage and manage to get magisk working. There's a fix for Bluetooth Audio with magisk or ADB but I don't remember what the command was. Also as for magisk you should be able to fix atleast faceunlock because Motorola uses an app for it.

Why not just boot into bootloader mode and fast boot stock firmware to recover your device ?

From your experience which GSI is better for MOTO G7 Play 1952-2:
Havoc or Lineage ?
It depends on what u trying to do exactly if u a heavy Magisk user u want to stay away from lineage and use havoc since magisk plays well with it if u don’t care about magisk and just want a simple root then this rom be a good experience for other then rom WiFi portal issues this rom it’s excellent cause it’s the only one with the notch fix if that fix was easily implemented out this rom and could be used with another GSI that would of been fantastic...

Thank you for your reply.
I favor stability and performance over Magisk.
In my case, do your recommend Lineage as my best option to try?
Hello,
I have a brand new device which has not officially been released yet. Therefore, there is no stock firmware image available or recovery image. Just wanted to get that out of the way. I could not remove a lot of the manufacturers bloatware because i could not root or port TWRP without a stock image or recovery image.
I stumbled onto Project Treble. I flashed phh treble and it worked. Well, I managed to get everything to work with some workarounds. The only thing I am having trouble with is when I install phh with gapps. After booting I get the "Your device is not Google certified" message repeatedly spammed.
The only workaround I have been able to get to work for the uncertified device message is to remove phh superuser. I have tried using the Google device registration page. It does not work for my device. I want to keep root so I can pull the recovery image and port TWRP for this device. Are there any other fixes that will work? In order to pick up in some of my games I think I need Google Play?
Thanks,
Rocky
What Gapps? you can try bitgapps, opengapps, etc...
If google play is impossible, you can download .apk android apps (Android PacKage, APK) from www.uptodown.com, www.apkmirror.com and www.apkpure.com, unless it is google play exclusive(probably payment content?)

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I need to recover paid content. There are games and programs that I have spent a decent amount on that I would like to have access too. I wish there was a phh gsi image with magisk root instead of phh root. From what I read you can disable it with Magisk.
I do not know a whole lot about root. I wonder if now that I am using phh gsi if it would be possible to install Magisk now? I could not install it before because the device does not have a system image available yet since it has not officially been released. Like I said I do not know much about root, could I just download a vanilla phh gsi image and patch that with magisk?

No no no, you need to patch boot.img for magisk, not system. Go to www.apkmirror.com (app repository), search and download 'magisk ' app(that is magisk manager), click and install the downloaded .apk file, allow install from browser, and after installing use the app to patch the boot.img(search Google), and flash patched boot.
I thought I bricked the phone but was able to recover. I am getting an error that I cannot seam to resolve. The phone screen will go black. It goes to a crash dump screen that says the fallowing.
Qualcomm Crash Dump Mode
modem subsystem failure reason
trm_rf_alloc.cpp:459:allocation
not found for RF Tech:2 Band:126
sub_capability 0.
After this happens and I reboot the device I have a hard time getting mobile data to work. It is definitely an error pertaining to the signal radio. I have no clue how to fix it. With this happening the device is pretty much unusable.

I am sorry to hear that.It is pretty much beyond what I can solve so I will try find similar threads.
Hello,
I have recently updated my Oneplus 9 Pro to version LE2123_11_C.47, so far so good
but than it wont go further, trying to update to LE2123_11_C.61 fails,
presumably because that one is incremental and I am rooted,
I don't watt c.61 anyways but C.62 as its the newest.
Unfortunately the new UI in C.47 does not offer local upgrade with a zip file anymore.
And anyways where can I get the C.62 zip for me EU model, the download on OPs page does not have a recognizable version scheme so I'm not sure what they are offering there to me.
An other issue I stumbled upon is that when i now try to boot into twrp-3.6.0_11-0-lemonadep.img using fastboot boot ... if freezes and crashes to a qualcom dumper, WTF... is there a more twrp recent version for LE2123_11_C.47 ?
Please advise how to proceed, i would like to update to the newest C.62 lafter perhaps to the Android 13 beta, but lets leave that for later, keep my root and have a working twrp.
so whats the trick with the new versions?
PS: Progress, twrp-3.6.2_11-0-lemonadep.img boots but fails to decrypt after entering the right password...

Password don't work......try with patron, must to work.
password works on normal boot does not work with twrp, also when i google i find a lot of reports about twrp decrypt issues with android 12.
So is there a fix for that?

Sorry, I write it in Spanish..... pattern, you must use pattern.
You can download local update in OnePlus forum.
Aaaaa... so disable apssword enable unlock with pattern and it should work, all clear thank you will try
hmm... i switched to pattern, entered pattern in twrp and still decryption failed
haha success... i have disabled password entierly and in this state twrp could mount /data successfully
PS: fix for the updating issue was to use this "Oxygenos updater" app from the appstore to download and install a custom updater app OPLocalUpdate_For_Android12.apk form oneplus to be able to sellect the downloaded file.
The strange thing is that the current build of android again shows the regular manual update option so no idea why c47 was so messed up :/
but now all is good only question if i should try the beta 13 or if then i have to expect even worse trouble with twrp lol
mmh.... not so great the backuo fails at 50% with error 255 failed to fork process
final success... delting /data/fonts solved the backup issue to find what to delete i only needed to review the recovery.log from twrp and look for where it failed
