I have Zenfone 2 Taiwan comes with ww Firmware.
Every time i ota update it. it download Chinese apps.
i tried to download ww 2.17.40.12 from asus hoping the built in Chinese apps will be removed.
but i doesn't. is there a way to get rid of chinese apps or is there an official firmware that doesn't have chinese apps?
Yes, I've done the same a while ago....hoping to see a slimmer ROM.
There is a Slim rooted version of the ROM, without bloatware. Here. The version is in the first Mega link. It is still experimental.

So I got this phone from "Gear Best" - it's the 64 gig version running ROM MIUI Global 7.4 Stable 7.4.16.0 (MBDCNDE)
Is this a european rom cause it does not have USA as a location in it.
Furthermore - where is the links for European Firmware - anyone know that?

If you want MIUI then check out the unofficial Xiaomi.eu global ROM...
Or you can flash CM13 and be happy...

Since you got it from Gearbest, you have an unofficial MIUI ROM. There is no stable global ROM yet available for the Mi Max.
You'll have to unlock your bootloader and flash the official global dev ROM or I think you could use EDL and Mi Flash to install the ROM and keep your bootloader locked.
The global dev ROM does have the US as an option for your locale. To be honest, it really doesn't do much when you set your locale. When I was using the global dev ROM before, US wasn't an option and I ended up just using Hong Kong as my locale. Since Xiaomi added US, I haven't noticed any difference.
Also, I don't think the global dev ROM is available for the 64gb version yet.

Yes. Why would you think otherwise? If its the anti-rollback thing, no need to worry (unless you go to roms prior to 9.5.19).

Well...china since you have a chinese version!
It's about everything related to modems, baseband, etc... so best to stick with the fw intended for your hw...

Oxygen updater says my phone is India version
when I look in setting->about phone the model is LE2120 which is CN version AFAIK. thats what the Oxygen updater also present.
But the OxygenOS version is 11.2.10.10 LE15DA which is India version according to google
so which version do I have?
2120 is the Chinese version, but you can flash Indian or EU/Global firmware anytime, hence why the Oxygen updater app thinks you have the Indian version. Afaik, it doesn't affect the functionality of the phone.
Right, model number and firmware version are two different things because the model number (LE2120) is your hardware, and the firmware version (DA) is your software.

BTW, no CN version on oxygen uploader, only india, EU, and oneplus 9 pro with no version. does the no version is global or chines?

There are only 3 firmware versions for OOS released by OP as far as I know: AA (Global), BA (EU), and DA (India).

I don't know a lot about ColorOS or its differences, but it's probably just a matter of personal preference. The two are going to be unified at some point in the near future anyway.

What OOS version do you have right now?
If you download the full update (not incremental) that is the same version or newer than your current version and install it via system update, that method does not wipe the phone.
If you have to downgrade/rollback due to no full update being available for your version or newer, that would wipe the phone. Or just wait for the next full update to be released.
