Hi, I have a LG G4 H815 on Lollipop and I want to unlock it's bootloader to root it and flash an update and do other stuff. I want to try to unlock the bootloader the official way but whenever I go into the developer options and press the 'Enable OEM Unlock', it gives me a warning and I tap Ok but the slider still stays at the off position and it stays disabled
I really want to flash some stuff on it because some of the stock LG stuff is pretty crappy. Thanks in advance!
Try to soft reset your device and try after that

I don't have a slider. It's just a tick box. Try updating to the latest version first or reset your phone completely. All your files are wiped anyway when unlocking the bootloader so you have nothing to lose in trying these.

I tried updating my phone to Marshmallow using the LG Flash tool with a kdz but the tool was having its own problems. It kept saying that it couldn't connect to server. I tried a lot of other methods to upgrade to Marshmallow but they didn't work. Do the flash tools need the bootloader to be unlocked too?

Without root or an unlocked bootloader, you can only use official root tools. I don't think your software version matters too much. Just do the full factory reset. There's no reason not to try doing this as bootloader unlocking does a factory reset itself.
I have also tried everything on my lg g4 on marshmallow...but can't turn on the oem unlock tick...
Any solutions
I tried factory reset too but still, not switching :'(

I got the same issue as yours here...and cannot even flash some Stock Rom on this "H815" model.....is your phone a refurbished model from Aliexpress? (as I suspect something here)
Dear all
After spending 3 days searching on the net, I found the way :
"Just purchased a LG G4 (H815). I'm in the process of unlocking the bootloader, and have been following LG's official instructions. However, I am having trouble performing step 8 of this guide:
"Enable OEM unlock on your phone. Activating the "Enable OEM unlock" is necessary for the bootloader unlock. To enable OEM unlock, go to Settings >> Developer options and check Enable OEM unlock."
Going into developer options and tapping on "Enable OEM unlock" returns the pop up message "WARNING: Device protection features will not work on this device while this setting is turned on. CANCEL ENABLE". After checking ENABLE, the pop up goes away, and I can see the checkmark box is checked for less than a second, and then it goes back to being unchecked on its own. Can anyone explain this?
Also, if instead of tapping CANCEL or ENABLE on the pop up, I click off of the pop up, the pop up goes away and the box will stay check marked until I interact with something else. Entering adb reboot bootloader from here though still does nothing sadly.
UPDATE: I had to download LG Bridge, connect my phone and use LG Bridge to search for a software update (H81520H) that my LG G4's update center was not finding for some reason. After the update, I had an update android security patch level, and could enable my OEM Unlock!"
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
LG Bridge doesn't solve the thing for me, it says "Your phone is up to date" ... I installed and removed LG Bridge a few times and even tried to update it. And even tried the "Update error recovery" (blue text on the bottom right of the window), still with no success.
Still no access to Fastboot for me, even if Adb sees in device when prompting the command "adb devices".
This "H815 20o" software version I got (from stock rom, refurbished phone, with this insane locked bootloader) is driving me nuts for 3 days now...
Up,
If anybody ever got the same issue, any help is very welcome!

Hey guys,
my Redmi Note 5 Global arrived today. I have the permission for unlock since 2 years, so I tried to unlock it with no success. First I got an unknown error and after some attempts I got the message: Couldn't Unlock "After 360 hours of trying to unlock the device".
Is there a way to solve this? I've found no solution so far, would a new mi account with new permission solve the problem?

Tried 2 new account. First I get an error that my account is not bound to the device, then I bind it and the 360 hours message is back
The secret trick is not to Bind your account in Developer Options, but just log in on the device.

Yes. Everytime the same error
These are the steps I'm doing, maybe there's something obvious wrong or I'm too stupid^^
1. Try to unlock with first account --> 360h
2. Reboot phone, logout from mi account. Login into the second mi account.
3. Reboot in Fastboot --> sign out on the mi unlock tool and sign in with the second account --> current account is not bound to the device.
After the 360h message from the first account, the mi unlock tool should be not touched?
Edit: Tried also the way with removing the device from I.mi.com. My RN5 has no inserted sim card, is that a problem? Just wifi.
Edit 2: Tried also with closing mi unlock tool between the 2 unlock attempts and with inserted sim card, same result.

Uhmm, you should also try to clear the cache of MI unlock tool. Otherwise, it gives you same error no matter how many times you try. That's what I'd do. It might not work but try it and redo the procedure. Share the results

Can't exactly remember. Look in file menu for about option in mi unlock tool and in that if I remember correctly there should be a log button. If you click that a directory will open. Remove all the files. It may not be accurate as I'm not at home right now.

I wondered, I fiddled a bit with the config, and I saw:
C:\Users\me\Downloads\miflash_unlock-en-3.3.525.23\config\app_info
Inside:
Maybe there's a way to call an OLDER api version
I don't have time to play with that, but maybe it's a good hint to solve the issue.
Cheers,

Unlocking the bootloader
While unlocking the bootloader, I went to developer settings and was trying to unlock the device.
Don't disconnect from the network, sign out of your Mi Account, perform a factory rest, or erase system data. If you've already done any of the above, add your Mi Account again; otherwise, you won't be able to unlock your device.
I was getting this error, after restarting the phone, signing out and signing in; the same issue.
I even did a factory reset but had the same issue.
Please let me know what can be done.
so the issue I got is getting this page I posted picture with after I access en miui com/unlock I tried with flyvpn Hong Kong and same result.

Download miflash_unlock tool, put phone in fastboot, install driver. Start the tool, login, click unlock, check time, wait, then unlock.
I tried to go through the official route to unlock my Global Version Note 5, but when I log into my Mi account, there is no option for "Apply for unlocking permissions", it's greyed out and so it's straight to the Mi Unlock tool. Have I missed something?
I was trying to find out if it's straight forward to lock the bootloader if I should so choose, but when I search all I'm finding are results for people with Global ROM's not the Global Version.
I'm new to Xiaomi but I've been messing around with modding phones for 5 or 6 years now...

My OEM Unlock option doesn't get saved after i exit option developers or restart, i guess i have to wait first? also i installed drivers from mi unlock toons and entered fastboot mode but i can't press unlock on the software i for some reason.
I bought Redmi Note 5 AI today which Boot Loader status was unlocked in the "developer option" previously and installed Global Stable 9.5.13 previously.
now when I tried to flash TWRP through cmd, it says "flashing is not allowed in lock state"
then when I checked OEM status through cmd, it shows :
Verity mode: true
Device Unlocked: false
Device Critical unlocked: false

Yes. I forget to mention that. It says "this account is not bound to this device" when I connected with mi unlock tools. For additional information, I used the same MI account for both mobile and mi unlock tools. I also synced successfully and activated find my device on mi web before I connected to the PC.

Fake unlock ??? what is that.? The phone was in Chinese stable rom. Then the seller changed it's rom to global by himself. I don't know anything else. But did you face the same problem like me ?
You need to do:
- Add your device to OEM unlock if need
- Activate Mi Message through Setting - System app - Message

Yes, one of my friend's whyred got fake unlock. It is still locked, but you can't unlock it because the status is unlocked. You must entering EDL mode and flash it. But you need permission from Xiaomi to do it. I don't know if they still open for new permissions.
Hello,
I have a Redmi Note 8 pro (China version). I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the Global ROM. Unfortunately, the phone didn't reboot and it is now stuck with message "this ROM can't be installed on this device".
I realized afterwards that many other users had the same problem. Now it is impossible to flash the chinese Rom again (I get the CRCLIST flash error).
I believe my only option now is to re-flash the China stock ROM using the EDL method and an authorized Xiaomi Account. Can anyone help me do that?
If anybody has other suggestions, that would be really helpul.
You may flashed lower version of miui. If you can enter into fastboot mode, flash with latest China miui, then install TWRP, then use TWRP to flash global rom. I used twrp here and it works for my china phone, now im on global rom.
Just my 2 cents:
1. Always flash stock ROM via fastboot. ALWAYS use option "clean all". NEVER use option "clean all and lock"
2. Make sure the ROM's folder path is not containing space characters. Several stupid errors can come from this.
Ex: C:/this_is_the_rom_path
3. Use USB2.0 port from your PC. Better plug the device into USB2.0 rear port.
I couldn't make any of my USB front ports to work. Only the USB2.0 rear port.

Unfortunately I believe that's precisely the mistake I made... Now the bootloader is locked again and I cannot unlock another time because I have no access to the phone. Mi Unlock Tool says "please add your account in developer options > Mi Unlock Status".

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I believe the bootloader is locked again now. I can put the phone in fastboot mode, but I cannot flash anything (not allowed in locked state).
If anyone knows how to flash with EDL method... But of course we would need an authorized account to do that.

I remember mi unlock tool will work in fastboot mode. I recommend you to use mi unlock tool which you used first time to try in fastboot mode. It may say: you need to wait xxx hours, then you have to wait. Or it may unlock directly like first time. Since you unlocked first time, it will be bounded into your Mi account already.
If you have fastboot mode available, do NOT too worried, more likely to you have it back. using SP Flash tool with paid auth account is last step.
Could you fix it?
