i`ve recently got my own gemini from planet computers, but i ordered a duel boot version and what i got is android only, it`s overpriced and my phones can do everything better than the gemini even my galaxy s2 has advantages over the gemini, i want to get rid of the android rubbish and put linux on it, even the os used on the raspberry pi would be better than android, but my attempts to install it all fail and i end up with a machine that fails to boot and just vibrates, how do i get linux to work on my gemini or should i just bin this piece of junk, and build my own using a raspberry pi zero.
I am looking for a stable linux also. Ubuntu if possible. I have a 512gb Samsung micro sd i it and I am ready.
BTW could not get the ota.zp from gemini to take it from 7.1 to 8.1 android. Still waitinf on a response

Hi
My config is ASUS E45M1-i Deluxe Motherboard with an integrated AMD E-450 processor and an ATI Radeon Hd 6320 graphic card. It is connected to a TV only with a HDMI cable and this config is running very well with W10, Ubuntu 64 and Openelec.
I am trying to install Remix on it, but it doesn't work.
The installation of Remix OS through the USB pen created with the supplied utility is not working (/initrd.img not found error). The usb seems ok as there are the 3 created partitions with all the files in.
If I copy the files from the iso into my hdd partition and create the entry in Grub, the 32 bits version start launching. But it stops and gives the error that the driver for family 20 product 2 is not supported.
The 64bits version doesn’t boot at all (black screen with a small cursor stacked on the top left side).
Any advice?
Is there an iso suitable for my config?
Thank you

I have similar spec acer revo rl70 and have installed 32bit on separate partition, no sound or video via hdmi but you view video plays without sound.
same problem here!
The PIPO X9 is an awesome device- in theory.
I received mine with Android working great, and Windows stuck in a setup loop.
So I downloaded the PIPO files, but with no instructions couldn't reinstall Win10.
Researched the heck out of this machine online- found almost nothing available.
Reinstalled Windows 10 from a 32 bit USB drive, then tried Pipo's Android setup.
That hosed everything; now it reboots endlessly as though it has no OS anymore.
My error was likely in removing partitions when installing Windows, but I wanted to start from scratch and clean things up (come on, 15+ partitions? Seriously?). I can get into the EFI shell to start the Android setup again, but it throws flash errors and changes nothing. I can't get 32-bit Windows to boot from the shell at all; 64-bit Windows gets stuck at disk.sys every time. I have all the PIPO Win10 files, but still can't make them do anything at all. I can get into the bios fine too, for what it's worth. I'd much rather learn how to make this box work than just returning it and trying to find a replacement- the hardware is exactly what I need for a project.
Anyone have any thoughts or ideas to try before it gets shipped back?
Anyone know why Remix OS doesnt work on some tablets...even though its x86, and already running Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 already?
I have a Fujitsu Q335 which I want to dual boot, and replace my current Android Tablet with Remix OS.
I just get the following error...
/efi/RemixOS/i386-efi/gfxmenu.mod not found
I tested the install on two different laptops, and was pretty straight forward, but this tablet just wont load the Boot Menu I normally see for Dual Boot systems with Windows 8.1/10.
Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I was using Samsung DeX for the Note 10+ and noticed they only have downloads available for Windows and Mac users. I've used DeX on my Windows install and I'm impressed with the desktop implementation. Is it possible to install this on a computer running Ubuntu? I saw Linux on DeX but that appears to be something completely different and would not allow me to use the phone on my desktop. I might be wrong but my understanding is Linux on DeX is just a way for you to do Linux work on the go using your Galaxy.
Thanks.
linux on dex means linux distro on samsung dex.

You're right, the download is only for Windows and OSX. And Linux on Dex (now discontinued... The morons) is running linux on the phone itself.
I would really like to be able to use DeX through Ubuntu as well. I've considered trying to figure it out. It is probably some sort of remote desktop like system that maybe could be replicated.

Yeah it's just disappointing it isn't officially supported. I know about remote desktop but it's not exactly the same thing since you're controlling your phone via a USB cable which is great and eliminates the need of a RDP login. I have not tried using Wine yet though.
Any progress?
any updates, i would love to be able to use dex when i am booted into ubuntu on my laptop
Every attempt i have made to make the dex client work in wine, crashes on opening the installer
Hi all,
I purchased a gemini wifi recently, but a 4g version arrived! I'm now trying to flash Linux on there, but I cannot get the flash tool to do anything.
I'm pretty sure that this is a driver issue, but I'm not sure what to do about it. I've tried windows 11 and 10, as well as ubuntu 20.04 to flash this thing and nothing is working.
On the windows 11 host I even disabled memory protection to allow the drivers to work correctly, but that made no difference.
Following the guides on planet computer, it's not clear what state the device should be in, but I've tried normally booted into android as well as in recovery mode (booted with Esc and side button depressed on boot}
What am I missing here? Does flashing this device just no longer work?
Thanks in advance for your help!
it still works presuming you are referring to this guide: https://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Linux_Flashing_Guide
I unfortunately don't think I am able to help you debug the situation from the information you provided.
I am not sure where most of the users congregate, but I have seen some sporadic recent activity here: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?board=192.0
From my own experience, windows 7 and windows 10 have worked flawlessly, ubuntu worked for me in the past, but had trouble recently. win7 and win10 in virtualbox requires delicate usb device setup adding device during gemini reboot, and still gives some trouble.
I haven seen any updates or security patches from planet on neither android nor debian, so got myself a sailfish X license to support their development, it looks like a lot of updates (most recently yesterday: https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/release-notes-vanha-rauma-4-4-0-72/ )
good luck
