Hi everyone.. I'm planning on going to Europe this summer and I wanted to ask if anyone knows if my phone will work with European 3g... Thanks
Btw.. I already have my sim unlock code from t-mobile..

You should be good. I went to the UK and Singapore with an unlocked Nexus One and it worked great. Just got my unlock code for my T989 as I have a trip to Sweden in 2 weeks. I used Giff-Gaff in the UK and Starhub in Singapore. Study the carriers frequencies before you go and buy a pre-paid sim and you will be good to go.

This phone is not pentaband which means it isn't guaranteed to work on 3g for all carriers. It does have 4 of all 5 bands, the only one you're missing is 900mhz so depending on where in Europe you're going you'll have 3g. You'll have to check the specific carrier you plan on using and as long as they support one of the bands, you'll be fine. (meaning they don't only use the 900 bands for 3g)
This will help. Still trying to find the site I used that told the carriers frequencies.

Perhaps here ? (from the old "gsmworld" site...I see they've changed a bit over the years)
Was at Worst Buy today, they said would price match any online price for the Note 2, plus offer me free insurance if broken, or any issues.
I was gonna get the true international Note 2, but worried if it has issued or warranty problems, it would be much easier to just go back to Best Buy than to have to mail it off, out of the country.
So, that being said, I am on Straight Talk, I hate being raped by the carriers and handcuffed into outdated contract system. Would the ATT Note 2 work on my Straight Talk SIM ? Or does the phone need to be unlocked first ?
I never unlocked a phone before. But I always root and install custom ROM the first day I take phone out of the box. Does rooting a phone, automatically unlock it too ?
And how bout HSPA+ ? Straight Talk doesn't do LTE yet, just HSPA+ I know the ATT Note 2 is LTE, but does it also have HSPA+ too, or just slower 3G ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You would have to unlock it, either buy scrounging a code or going to the carrier and asking for one. Rooting doesn't automatically unlock the device. As far as 4G I really dunno, but I'm sure someone will tell you.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I believe you only need to buy the att version of the straight talk sim. No need to unlock. Then you go on their web site and get the APN.

Thanks, so I am currently using the ATT SIM on Straight Talk. Just pop that in the new Note 2, and it will work right out of the box ?
What about HSPA+ ? Straight Talk doesn't have LTE. Does the ATT Note 2 have HSPA+ 3G besides LTE ?

It is not the sim from att. Its a straight talk sim made for att phones. You have to order them online. It uses att network and you would get everything except lte.
https://www.straighttalk.com/ShopSims is where you order the sim and there is more info on the service on the site.

On my international One X, I am using Straight Talk with the ATT SIM. In the Straight Talk package, there were three sims to choose from. T-Mobile, and two ATT, one regular size, and one micro/mini, which is what I am currently using.
So can I just take this mini ATT SIM from Straight Talk, and pop it in the ATT Note 2 from Best Buy, and it will work ? I don't need to have the phone unlocked ?
Thank you

Its already been answered and yes ITS BEEN A LONG time since ive even seen a UMTS on my phone. and also HSPA+ is still 3G.... Straight talk Uses Edge,3G, and 3.5G which is HSPA+
Also if the Note 2 only used LTE then people would not be buying it cause not all AT&T areas are LTE...
I am more than happy with 3.5G HSPA+, plenty fast for my phone needs, I just wasn't sure it was included in the Note 2, for some reason I thought was just standard 3G only and also LTE.
Most the time I am in a WiFi area anyways, at Home or Work Office, so LTE not a deal breaker for me.
Thank you

Good point, thanks for the answer.
Last question, since I am using the ATT Sim for Straight Talk, is there even any point to have the ATT Note 2 unlocked ?

For any one interested I have successfully flashed att rom to my Verizon note2 with no additional steps needed. This is only good for someone using the gsm side as there now no option for cdma. But just letting everyone know

note 2 verizon on att.. no gps...
I too have a note 2 verizon model, I loaded the clean rom 5 ace and chose att. I also use straight talk as my carrier, My gps quit working!!
The reason I picked att is when I run verizon on the install is that when a call comes it it has a +1, when I call someone right back I get a international call failed every fricken time. anyone have a fix for "note 2 verizon on att service" Please help'!!!
I have noticed a quite a few people wanting to get this phone and configure it for T-Mobile. I for one love the phone it has its quirks but whens it one the T-Mobile LTE its really fast. I have 2 now and sitting right next to each other the AT&T 1 bar, T-Mobile 4-5 Bars in my house. Also I have the E980 model unlocked Via ATT In less than 5 MIN's each time I have need to get it unlocked.
T-Mobile user here. Works great on T-Mobile LTE and I'm in a refarmed area too. It's as usable as any T-Mobile branded phone would be. Love the phone, bummed about the development scene and lack of accessories.

Anybody? I've tried calling at&t and I was told by two different agents that my unlock code wasn't available at the moment. Not because the IMEI number is blacklisted but they think LG hasn't released the code for it just yet.
I really need to get this phone unlocked and don't have the time to wait for at&t or LG to release it.

That's not true. Most of us who have responded are on the ogp as I am right now unlocked and on t MOBILE. I have had w unlocked within the last 2 week's. If you bought the phone with service they will unlock it. 18003310500 customer service only. When they ask for your mobile number it's the more options after the prompt. Then just keep hitting 0 for customer service. Any other department will tell you different things.

I do think the LG PRO is great, I just can not wait until I can get more than EDGE speed of 100kbps vs the 5985kbps I was getting on my vibrant...
I have tried everything I have found to get better speed and no luck....

Okay, I obtained my unlock code from Cellunlocker.com and they were able to generate a code in less than 5 mins. They sent me 5 different codes though, kinda weird.
Anyways, do I really need to insert a different SIM card to access the unlock menu?

Unlocked my phone yesterday n got T-Mobile service. Been messing wit the APN settings all day n trying it out all over northern LA county. I hardly get LTE wit the OG Pro in my area. Only Edge.
Called up customer service n the tech said the towers around here haven't been "modernized" for unlocked phones, but the towers are being worked on. No time frame given on when this "modernizing work" will finish. Just that, work is current til next year.
I throw the SIM card into my HTC G2 and H+ is all over the place! I'm using it as my hotspot for now til I get the U-verse activated tomorrow evening. Man, I wanted to ditch AT&T!!

It's only missing Band 5, both models have bands 4, 2, and 17, which are the primary US LTE bands anyway (outside of Verizon's Band 13 that is).
While technically the T-Mobile version is missing Band 30, the AT&T version is missing Band 30 as well.

The T-Mobile one hasn't been rooted yet, though it apparently has an unlocked bootloader. The AT&T model has been rooted, but it appears the bootloader is locked down. Doesn't that suck?

Ya it does. the pre release t mobile phones were able to be rooted but the patched it already for the phone that are shipping now.
Unlocking the bootloader is harder then rooting for the most part. What im interested in is if the qi charging back from europe are working on the tmobile lg g3....they are not on the att g3. Can you test this!? that would be awesome
