Hi,
I can set / see my custom ringtones that I have stored in my SD card in practically all apps but for Outlook.
I set yes in permissions for SD card. Still I cant see any of my ringtone/ notification tone, when I try to set the same in Outlook App.
It works flawlessly for apps like Gmail/ Whatsapp etc.
Can Anyone advice me where ringtones for outlook app in android is stored with reference to Note5 Pro.

I have recently upgraded to WM6.1 (kavanna's) and i have put the rinku iconbar on it and the weather sliding panels, kinoma freeplayer and all teh other prgrams that i have seen that work well. Love the ROM, great work to all, but i just have one question.
How do i get pictures and ringtones for my contacts because right now all i have is the number and name listed and i don't have an option for selecting a ringtone or assinging a picture to them. I have been searching throught the threads for 2 days and the most i can find is little info about a program called RINGO and photo...somethin pro and there wasn't much postive feedback about either.
Please help
Thanks
6.1 same as 6
start - contacts - edit
custom ringtones will need to be on main memory if I'm not mistaken
scroll down to select pics or set custom ringtone

Custom ringtones can also be on the root of storage card.
The contact you wish to add these too has to be in the phone mem not sim
You probably don't see the options for pictures and ringtones because the contacts are stord on the SIM. Move them to the phone memory and it will open up those options.
thanks i had them all on my sim card didn't realize i had to move them back to access those options Thanks again

yea took me a while to figure that too but now that i've found it i don't let those free phone getters laugh at me cuz i can't see the pic of whos calling me. lol
does anyone know the folder structure for making sure, if i store sounds on the storage card, that any alerts are purely for short sounds, and custom rintones selects a folder full of just my ringtones?
meaning:
Custom Ringtones -------> ring tone only folder on storage card
Custom Alerts ------> short sounds only folder on storage card
??? i thought i had it right but my custom ringtones options (all ringtones on the storage card are stored under storage card/my ringtones) ALWAYS brings up all my short sounds too (which are stored in storagecard/my documents).
all my alerts options bring up short sounds only.
Can I use MP3s for alarms and SMS tones.
I thought these kind of features where standard on modern smart phones?
Or is there an app for that
i think theres a special app for that i have seen it somewhere on the cyrket website

Have you tried setting it as a ringtone within the music app? Then from there you might be able to choose it in the alarms and notifications?
make a folder on your SD card (the root of it) called "Notifications" and "Ringtones" then copy your ringtones into one and notifications (SMS and Alarms) into the other. Then they appear in the menus. I had to google about to find this myself!
Alternatively you can set it through the music application!
You need to create specific folders on the SD. I have alarms on the SD root for my alarm tone and notifications for my message tone!

/sdcard
/sdcard/Media
/sdcard/Media/Notifications
/sdcard/Media/Ringtones
/sdcard/Media/Alarms
That is how I have it setup so I only have one folder in the sdcard root for all of my alarms, notifications and ringtones.
Mine are set as...
/sdcard
/sdcard/Media
/sdcard/Notifications
/sdcard/Ringtones
/sdcard/Alarms
Thx, I will give it a go
Why can't they make things simple these days
SOrry to jump in, but cant someone just run over what i may be doing wrong.
On my SD Card i have the following folder setup :
sdcard/
sdcard/media
sdcard/media/audio
sdcard/media/notifications
sdcard/media/alarms
sdcard/media/ringtones
and within the notifications folder i have put an MP3.
BUT it doesnt show up in SETTINGS > SOUND & DISPLAY > NOTIFICATION SOUND
Nor does it show up in ChompSMS or SMSPopup.
I have alos tried to create the folders in the root, with no luck.
I know im beign blind, what am i missing.
Nice one, was wondering how to do this.
hot-fuzz I have the exact same set-up as you, works perfectly for me.
Have you tried with a different audio file?
Just download 'Ringdroid' from the marketplace and you can edit your mp3's in the fly and gives you the option to save as tone/notification etc..
OK, sorted it.
The file will only show up if i put ".mp3" at the end of the file, otherwise it doesnt show up.
Thanks for the headsup on Ringdroid, might give that a bash.
I had some problems but at last it is working with the format
sdcard/
sdcard/media
sdcard/media/audio
sdcard/media/notifications
sdcard/media/alarms
sdcard/media/ringtones
I noticed there was a similar layout in the phone's ROM
system/
system/media
system/media/audio
system/media/notifications
system/media/alarms
system/media/ringtones
system/media/ui
There was some Facebook mp4 file in that ringtones folder.
Is there a way to customize the Contact: SMS and Email Notifications within the Contacts application or is a 3rd app needed?
I know there is a section for Ringtone, but what about SMS and Email?
Im not sure even 3rd party apps can do it..

Email notifications come from Gmail or the Email app so custom notifications are not possible. I think Handcent SMS has the option to assign a contact a custom ringtone.
Ya, I was there was a way to have a custom sound for each notification. Email, text, etc...
For emails i dont think so, for text you can use a 3rdparty sms like gosms or handcent, or you can use ringo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.electricpocket.ringo

It would be a bit of work but you could get Gmail label notifier and make labels for different contacts and then assign specific sounds to the labels.

How to Change tones
The phone is capable of doing it by itself without the need of a third party app, simply go into the app you wish to change the notification tone for example gmail.
1. Open app>menu button>more> then go into settings
2. Choose which account if you have multiple accounts or just select your account then go all the way to the bottom where it says labels to notify and choose your inbox. It's set to default by default which is the notification set generally in your phones settings.
3. Choose whatever notification tone you want, be it a custom one you added yourself into the notifications folder on your internal or sd card memory or ones that are on the phone by default and voila! You're set.
Example 2 SMS app (default since I use that one)
1. Open app (obviously)>menu button>settings
2. scroll all the way to the bottom and choose "select ringtone", it's set at default just like the default on gmail, changing this doesn't change your default, only changes the tone for sms app.
Have fun changing your notification tones to be able to differentiate different forms of mail, same method works for fb messenger etc, only app I haven't found a way to change the tone is yahoo mail, but that's unique so I have no need to change it.
Hope this helps.^_^
Peace all...
While I like the phone--a lot--I'm having difficulty coping over my notification sounds from my other phone. For some reason, no notification sound that I add or copy over to my phone will show up in "notification" sounds, It doesnt matter if I create a separate folder entitled "NOTIFICATIONS" and add them there. i'm confused. Does the HTC 10 not allow 3rd party notification sounds or from other apps such as Zedge?
please advise
I didn't have the sounds recognized from my SD card. I had to copy them to the Notifications and the Ringtones folders on the internal memory.

Some file managers will work to set your notification sound.
No idea why it's doing this, but every ringtone amd notification I set from the app Zedge is automatically reset to default when I restart my phone. It's only happening with the individuals I set it to. Any ideas?

I don't know if this will help you or not. If your rooted, change the file extension of the ringtone from .mp3 to .ogg then select what ringtone you want to use. Are you using a particular app to set ringtones other than zedge?

Why would they need to be rooted to change the file extension of a file that they downloaded?
As for the OP's problem, figure out where the ringtones are downloaded to, move them to a folder called Ringtones on the root of your accessible internal memory (if it's not there, create it) and move the ringtones to that folder. Then you can select them in your phone settings and/or the stock contacts app. Zedge is a great app for getting ringtones and wallpaper, but it's not so good when it comes to applying them. I don't think it has been updated for android oreo.
