Flash xiaomi.eu miui over custom rom - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Is it possible without loosing content of internal storage? I mean format data is necessary?

Expect problems if you flash the xiaomi.eu ROM over any custom ROM. I would expect issues flashing xiaomi.eu build over stock MIUI, never mind a custom ROM.

I did a factory reset and flashed the dev rom over the custom. Is it ok or the system wipe is necessary too?

wipe data before reverting to stock rom

I know that when flashing a custom rom either coming from stock or going to another custom rom, you have to do a wipe of the device ( data, caches etc). I am currently on a custom rom but wish to revert back to stock. I've read somewhere that if you flash a stock image then the process wipes the device. Does this mean that it is not necessary to do a manual wipe when flashing a stock rom but it is required when flashing any custom rom?
For your safety do a manual wipe anyway.
If you do a full stock image flash, it'll wipe everything anyway. Don't need to worry about wiping before that.

A question about dirty flashing

Hi, on other phones I used to dirty flash without any problem.
My question is, if I use an encrypted rom (ex. Codename Phoenix) how can I flash another ROM without need to wipe everything and restore everything afterwards?

I don't think you can avoid a full wipe when going from an encrypted ROM to an decrypted ROM but I could be wrong.

How to switch between miui and custom rom

Hi,
Could someone please clearly explain what should be backup in both Roms in order to be able to switch from one rom to another ?
Iam on miui10:
backed up everything to be sure but may be it is too much (boot, data, system, system img, vendor, vendor img).
I would like to taste aosip (red no issue when coming from miui).
Factory reset, wipe cache/dalvik/system/data
flash aosip, gapps, lazy
Now here what should i backup ?
I have tried once, but restoring custom rom (aex for example) result in bootloop.
Thanks for help

Is Xiaomi blocking my Phone from installing Custom Roms?

Hi,
I'm trying to install this Custom ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix-2/development/rom-havoc-os-t3883065
I've previously used the Custom ROM if xiaomi.eu.
Now that I'm trying to install an AOSP ROM it won't let me boot the system.
I've unbind my Mi Account and device from https://i.mi.com/ and unlocked bootloader in developer settings before wipe eveything and flash the havoc OS rom.
Is there something I'm missing? I've done that multiple times before with non-Xiaomi phones but never had such problems.
I tried to reinstall a xiaomi.eu ROM and it worked btw.
Is your bootloader really unlocked?

Strange. For me xiaomi.eu roms never worked for me. Have u tried flashing global stable 10.0.2.0 zip via TWRP first? Not the xiaomi.eu rom.
All you have to do is wipe system, caches, data, dalvik. Then flash havoc and gapps. Let it boot. Then reboot to recovery (before setting ur lockscreen password) and flash magisk if u want root
Format Data is required. Did you do that?
So what happened when u try to open ur mix2?
The mi screen forever? Or just black.
How come you have to keep doing Format Data after each update of any rom?

How to install xiaomi.eu when coming from an AOSP custom rom

How do i install xiaomi.eu when coming from an AOSP custom rom?
I was using Paranoid Android Quartz 4 (AOSP) for a good while now but it i want to go to xiaomi.eu because of the better battery management and other features.
I wanna know what's the right procedure to flash the rom. I am going to include the rom and custom kernel plus magisk on top.
Im confused as to which to wipe and/or format. Like which to do first and such before flashing the rom, kernel and magisk.
I'm using OrangeFox recovery because TWRP doesnt work on mine. Phone is ginkgo.
Thanks for the response
Wipe dalvik, cache, system, vendor, data. Flash rom, magisk. Reboot. If you face bootloop (most probably) then format data partition. You'll be okay.

Should i format data partition before flashing rom or should i do it after i face bootloop?
Thanks for replying
Format after flashing ROM. Formatting before flashing will wipe out internal storage.
