So i heard about the new os update(kinda late) i wanna do a factory reset but i don't want to go through the trouble of reinstalling google play and the rest of the apps so I'm wondering if i make them a system application would they stay after reset?

I selected uninstall for Google Play Books and it reverted to just Google Books instead of actually uninstalling.
So I considered disabling this built-in app, but I read the warning that it might affect the operation of other apps, such as google play.
So I fired up google play and saw that the option was there to upgrade back to Google Play Books. But on attempting to do this, I get the following error every time:
Error
Your order is procesing. Your item will be available in a few minutes.
Starting download...
But the download never actually starts.
Can anyone help me re-install it? Or is it perfectly compatible to disable Google Books. Kindle is my preferred book app after all.
Do you have CWM installed? try wiping cache and dalvik cache.
I'm entirely stock, and don't have CWM installed.
I tried wiping the cache for both Play marketplace and google (play) books, and rebooted, but even after that the update still doesn't work for Google Play Books.
If a solution doesn't come up, then I can just disable Books. But it will leave a lasting niggle in my head which can only be resolved by a factory reset!
The new Android 4.0.4 OTA update resolved this problem for me

I rest my phone back to the the factory default. Now after doing that I am unable to install several apps from the Google Play market. Any idea why? I was rooted prior to that and I had to reset the phone because it was crashing left and right.
Hi everyone,
Well, I accidentally uninstalled play store using Titanium backup (my bad...). I've restored it again, but whenever I tried to download or update new apps, the play store always force closed. I've done some possible solutions , like wiping play store and play services and removing Google account, except factory reset. FYI, I'm still using Sony stock rom (.108)
Is it because I uninstalled a system app from an odexed rom? Is there any other way to solve this?
Thank you for any further help
How do I restore my play store
what I did.
rooted my phone > used app master to delete play store among other system apps (without back up). (kind of stupid I know)
Now I want it back.
tried downloadng play store (different versions). Installed it > when I try to sign in: "couldn't connect to google service, try again later" (same after factory reset)
tried factory reset. standard apps aren't back
After factory reset I tried to add my google account again for my calendar but that also isn't possible anymore (couldn't connect to google service,...). Before factory reset this definately still worked
solutions?
thx
Flash the ftf of your country with flashtool, you can remove the checkboxes in the wipe section and exclude all except system.

Did you fix your problem ?
I did the same thing and play store make me crazy now.
Hi, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I decided to update Google Play Services on my G4 (android 6, stock rom) and since then, all Google apps (gmail, google keep, google play store,...) keep crashing.
I downloaded Google Play Services 8.7.03 on apkmirror and I chose the variant 440 (arm64 + arm, android 6.0+ and nodpi)
I can't deactivate or uninstall Google Play Services and I wish there is another option than restoring the entire phone...
Try a few different versions of Play Services?
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I've called a friend who also has a G4 (android 6) and asked him what is his version of Google Play Services. He has the 8.7.03 (variant: 440), the exact version I manually installed.
I saw on forums that I could try to delete my google accounts (which I did, but Google apps are still crashing and now I have a notification telling me I have to link the phone to a gmail account, but I can because Google Play Services crashes all the time).
I also tried to reboot, clear the app's data, uninstall all updates and reinstall the right version,... but still crashing.
I'll try one last time everything I've already tried and if it doesn't work, I'm afraid I'll have to reset to factory settings...
Can you just reflash the system partition and not touch user data? I think that might work.

Reflash? Do I need root for that? My phone is not rooted (but I was just wondering if there is a way to root the G4 under android 6 without touvhing the bootloader)
Update: I reset to factory settings, now I have to get everything back on the phone.
One advice: never manually install Google Play Services, I've read loads of people commenting that they had the same kind of trouble.
Even if you install the right version (the version I manually installed was the exact same than my friends')
