So I was following the instructions for the root, and am at the TWRP part where I select the zip file I placed onto the drive. When I go to install I see a ton of listed folders, but can't seem to figure out where the heck the zip file is I put on the device, I had dropped it into the root. Any help with this? I can not post in any other forum.

So you didn't put it into any of the folders? Scroll down the zip should be at the bottom. Otherwise reboot and recheck that the file downloaded.

Here's the thing, I can't find ANY of the folders that are listed when I open the internal stoage on my PC. At the top of TWRP it says "Internal Storage (0mb)" The folders I see are boot, cache, data, datadata, dedv, emmc, etc, external_sd, internal_sd, license, proc, recovery, res, root, sbin, sd-ext,, sdcard, supersu, sys, system, tmp, sys system, tmp, usb-otg . So confused.
Sigh and when at the bootloader or whatever it looks like I don't have access to the internal storage via my computer. Just shows up as "Android" on my PC.
I "Copied log to SD", it says it copied it to /data/media. When I go into the file manager. That location doesn't exist. Nothing inside that data folder....at all.
Wow

I didnt understand your problem really well. Try clicking in internal sd folder and you should see zip otherwise at the top of twrp where you select storage select again internal storage and it should popup if i understood correctly.
Hi,
I have the same problem, I tried the above steps with no luck. I still can't see the folders from internal storage. Please help.

There is a folder by the name "0" which you can find in TWRP and also from the File explorer. Place the SuperSU.zip inside the "0" folder using file explorer and they try to locate it from the TWRP. It should be visible then.
It worked for me, hope it does for you too.
Thanks

I experienced a similar problem with my nexus 5x and ended up on this thread from google search. I got it working after entering the password at password prompt, when phone started to boot into recovery. This decrypted the storage and mounted it, before booting to recovery. If I didn't enter a password and skipped it(hit cancel and moved on), then in the recovery I see that storage and sdcard as 0.
Hope this helps someone.

It díd help someone, me
I was doing the same thing, cancelling this password prompt, I thought it was a encryption thing instead of a decryption thing (should read better).
Now I can access all files again on TWRP, thanks!
EDIT: I thought a bit more why this happend: it is of course because we activated the option 'ask pattern unlock before booting android', which is an option in the Nexus 5X welcome screens.
So I assume TWRP needs that pattern as well to access the Android folders once it's activated.
Also: I had to click the '3x3' option in the Password screen to make the pattern responsive, in case that's a hint someone looks for.

Where did you see it asking for a password? I have booted into recovery and can't see any password prompt and the storage is still at 0mb. Help?
I had the problem.
I solved it by formating the data.
> fastboot format userdata
Do not forget to do a backup of your backup in your PC, then put it back and restore..!!
I have soft bricked my device, after reading your forums, I downloaded a stock ROM for my device... transferred it to my ext SD card but i couldnt find the RAR file in TWRP.(install) Even tried my luck with usb otg... i could see the rom (rar) file in file manager even copied it from ext SD to internal storage... i have double checked the location of the file... is on root it isny inside any folders. Do what I said format the internal SD.
In your twrp format internal storage.
Then reboot and problem solved.

Hi everyone,
I've got a Galaxy Nexus in use since approx. 2 years and update it to the latest CM from time to time. I also flashed Ziyan's beta build (08/06),
but honestly, I dont't think that’s the crux of the matter.
Let me begin with the error pattern:
One day, my Nexus was not in use and only lay on the table, it crashed an rebooted. That happened occasionally, so it seemed like nothing to worry.
Unfortunately the system kept on crashing on every attempt to boot after this or crashed shortly after finishing boot.
This repeated over several hours.
Once in a while, the system managed to stay alive for a few minutes and I was able to browse the settings for example. Doing so, I noticed that it responded normally for about 5 seconds and then froze for 5 seconds alternatingly.
I then tried to flash a backup or rather the latest rom again.
Then it became awkward:
In the beginning I was unable to aquire writing permissions (rw) and only had reading permissions (ro) on my /sdcard. Even adb remount didn't change this.
An attempt to fix permissions in TWRP recovery broke with an error.
I couldn't even access the sideload due to missing write permissions.
Surprisingly, I was able to adb push the rom to /cache partition since I still had rw permissions on /cache and /system and therefore successfully flashed the rom subsequently.
When I checked my permissions again, I regained rw permissions on all partitions.
Trying to reboot my system, it kept on crashing like before, which led me to format the internal memory completely.
According to TWRP the whole memory was deleted completely and I adb pushed an older rom (CM 11) and flashed it.
To my astonishment, I found my phone boot the old rom again, all data was restored and it still crashed like nothing happened to the memory.
I then tried to delete all files manually and flashed the stock rom, even unrooted, all with the same outcome.
After every attempt to change something, Ziyans rom remained on the phone, also the /sdcard data was still there.
What I found noteworthy was the recovery telling me, all the operations completed succesfully everytime and until I restarted the phone, it indeed showed no files remaining after formatting (though, I couldn't change the filesystem).
To put it all in a nutshell:
Memory delete, format or overwrite doesn't work any longer
I am totally out of options and would appreciate suggestions =)
Greetings,
Kosmo$
Yes it is. A way to verify this is to lock the bootloader. If it is unlocked upon rebooting your EMMC is corrupt..
TWRP - Unable to copy files to a totally wiped phone &weird folders on my wiped phone
I'm trying to install a custom rom on my HTC One M8. I unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP, did an advanced wipe of everything, but now I'm unable to copy the rom image to the phone.
When I boot in recovery mode, TWRP shows up and the phone appears on my computer. But when I browse it, it has 4 folders:
-TWRP
-_nero_sync
- albums
- mobile
This looks weird to me, as I remember TWRP should be the only folder right there. Also, windows wont let me copy files into any of the folders for some reason.
I actually managed to fix this probably by repeatadly wiping the phone yesterday, but now I did it for at least 15 times and it's always the same.
What can that be?
Storage may be corrupted. You can try the "format data" button on the main TWRP "wipe" screen, which often fixes such corruptions issues. Somewhat obvious, you'll lose data when you format; but if you are wiping everything, this shouldn't matter to you.
I set a new unlock pin, but after rebooting I realized I forgot it. I tried removing locksettings.db from TWRP file manager but then after rebooting I was stuck on "Android is starting" screen. I decided to do a full wipe (system, data, internal storage, cache) and installed latest LOS15.1 + Gapps. After booting and selecting the language I am stuck on "just a sec" screen :crying:.
Edit: Also my TWRP says my data is encrypted and I don't know the password for decryption.
I hope someone knows what's the issue and how to fix it.

You deleted your pin from the phone but the storage remains encrypted... With the pin that you can't use anymore since you deleted it.
Your only decent recourse to recover the device now is to FORMAT data from twrp.
You will not be able to recovery any files.
If you don't need the phone ASAP then hold out on a reply that might help save you but it sounds like you'll need to format to get the phone to boot with a usable data partition
