Dark Mode for Pixel 2 XL - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hi I've rooted my Pixel 2 XL and I'm looking to activate full dark mode quite similar to the Oneplus phones. I intend to keep using Stock ROM. I've tried a couple Substratum Dark themes but they're quite unstable and keep crashing most of my apps.
Any suggestions?

im using rootless substratum on stock with swift dark theme and i do not have any have this problems.
swift dark theme always gets updated and had a ton of themed apps .:good:

Another Swift Dark theme fan!

If you want high quality, frequently updated themes, you may have to part with a few green backs. Which, in my not so humble opinion, is a good thing. The theme developers work many hours on their product, and I'm more than happy to support them :good:

Does anyone have any info about theming Android P? It will be monotonous to have white/dark ui based on wallpaper that we use. Maybe new theming method will be introduced with P, new theming engine...

I'm on Android P and I have dark UI...? Anyone else?

[MOD][XPOSED] G2 Xposed

This Xposed module is basically allows to change colors of statusbar like Tinted Statusbar and all. Some features is not usable because its a Nexus 4 not G2, Bleed throught Immersive mode is PAID feature but worth it.
Here is the link for this module : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tinyroar.xposedlgg2

It works fine.
I downloaded it and I loved it.
I paid for the bleed thru and it's great!!
Wish I could add more apps or custom colors like TintedStatusBar xposed but I don't mind for right now since the bleed thru immersive implements the change better and it looks way smoother. Looking forward to future updates.

Some stuff is still grayed out I'm guessing because its a Nexus 4 and not a G2 but most stuff is still usable.
And the Bleed thru immersive mode is paid for feature. I think you should add that to the OP

Theming question

I am currently running PaulPizz's ROM and love it, but would like to get rid of the bright white settings menus and notifications. Is there any way to install or access the full Samsung Theme Store? The included themes only theme the home screen and icons unfortunately. Are there any Xposed modules that can change these features? I do not mind digging in to the system files if necessarily to tweak things. If I recall, on my Note 2, most of the ROMs were already fully themed or included settings to change the framework.
Found these, may have to give it try tomorrow when I am not so tired lol.

This is what I've been looking for! I didn't realize that Kyubi was themeable -- it's frustrating how bright, big, and ugly TouchWiz is, especially with the blaring white backgrounds for settings menus + popups.
Nope. Not on a note 4 ROM. You require an s6/note 5 edge port or above......you could try substratum its fantastic but seriously doubt it would work on touchwiz based rom's . the firmware has just been moddded too much. But I digress to my knowledge note 4 is only capable of launcher drawer theming on its stock ROM and/or those based upon stock

Have installed viper 5.9.0
Installed the magisk module for GP dialer (which works great)
I've got the theme running for viper from @Basil3 which is all great.
My problem is theming these three apps.
GP dialer
Google contacts
Android messaging
I installed substratum and tried a theme i know, called spectrum which I've used before on other ROMs.
I've only chosen the three apps to theme and avoided the framework.
The theme went perfect but i have a colour, two actually that i didn't choose, a weird ( extremely camp) pink and a slightly less, but still camp... blue.
Nether of which i chose and i just wanted to know where they came from.. And ultimately, swap for black.
Sorry about the long description, just thought I'd answer any questions before they were asked.
Any help would be great.
Cheers.

Thank you though, really appreciate that.
Any idea if it's relatively simple to change colour on Google apps?
Substratum looked ok but it's pulling colour in from somewhere? Might even be the Google apps themselves?

April Security Update - UI Issue

Hi all,
i recently applied the latest April OTA update on my Pixel 2 XL.
So far, the update appears to be fine and the only niggling problem I have with it that i've noticed is superficial.
Even after factory resetting twice, i can't seem to remove the transparent black borders from the top statusbar and navigational bar on the Google Now page.
Before the update these were immersive and 100% transparent.
Can anyone identify why this has happened and how to fix this?
Please see the attached images:

Hmm.... so it's not just me then. So maybe this is intended by Google maybe to protect against potential screen burn or something?
Looking at the Change log notes for the April release, it doesn't mention anything about the UI changes for the statusbar or navigational bars being modified.
I'm really surprised that no one else has mentioned this...
I find it really annoying, preferred the way it was before and I don't want to root an downgrade to previous release
I didn't even realize it until you mentioned it. It's only in the Google feed though right?

Well now they have light system theme and dark themes which is detected by your wallpaper. Hence why your pull down changes from light to dark. The light theme now feed doesn't have they dark box's I don't think

Using a light wallpaper has the same effect, borders are still visible.

My Notification pull down stuck in Dark theme

Not sure what the heck is going on by my pull down notification is ALWAYS dark no matter what I do. I even tired forcing the Device Theme to Light vs auto depending on wallpaper and the darn thing is always dark.
Any ideas??

Wow, what in the world is Google thinking? Why does changing messager to dark mode impacts the notification color? That's crazy. Is this a known bug?
Thank you buy the way, it was driving me nuts as to why it is happening.
