i uninstalled/disabled leanback quite a while ago in favor of another launcher, nova prime, so i can't tell if oreo has been installed based on the new home screen... when i go into settings > system upgrade > check for upgrade i get a pop-up stating that my "system is up to date" with "last checked (current date and time) version: 6.3(24.32.406.472).
so does it look like i have oreo? or is there another way to tell if the above version info doesn't give the needed info to determine if oreo has been installed? any help would be appreciated, thanks!

thank you, very helpful! is the 7.0.1 the oreo update? also, why does my shield show up to date if 7.0.1 is available? perusing the nvidia shield tv forums and can't seem to find the answers to these questions.

Yes, 7.0.1 is the Oreo update. It is still in a beta release. Only users who signed up for the Preview Program are receiving the update, while NVIDIA addresses and fixes bugs that are being reported by the Preview members. The update is not being released at this time to the general population. Just be patient, and when you do get it, hopefully most of the bugs will have been squashed.

very cool, and very helpful, thanks a ton!
btw i came across a post at the nvidia forum from someone who got the update - like me, he never liked the android tv interface / gui, i.e. the leanback launcher, and had nixed it in favor of another launcher.... he went on to say that 7.0.1 oreo update went perfectly fine without the shield stock launcher, that all of his settings and alternative launcher were unaffected by the update, which i found to be great news.

Is it worth upgrading firmware to the last rootable one?
I have the one that ends in "1" something like 5.1.0.1 I think.
are there any stability improvements in the last ROOT-ABLE firmware?
I saw the guide on AFTVNEWS to upgrade it doesn't seem to hard I should be able to do it.
Thanks!

i did upgraded to pre-rooted firmware 511.1.4.0 and i believe it fixes bugs and probably, the most important thing they add is under developer options you can now select apps from unknown source, with this enable you can simply download any apk from web site using a web browser(chrome, firefox, ect), you no longer have to side load the app.
here is the link which outline some of major fixes and changes with each updates, for more detail info you probably will have to dig on amazon site.

I have received the update and installed it too! Everything seems buttery smooth and faster than before! Install it now! :good:
Note: I do not know how to extract OTA file from the update, so hope someone could be able to help in sharing the OTA zip file with us.
Seems you are using VPN to receive the update. Which VPN are you using? What is your / the VPN location?
Which screen protector You use? Looks good, any specs or link? I'm in Germany, still no update for eu version.
Seems like only the Motorola employees are getting the update. above photos are familiar to me. Seen somewhere in Facebook page of Moto.

What network are you on?
The most important question, were you guys able to keep root, or install root after updating to Nougat? Thanks!
Yeah, with unlocked bootloader it's easy, just flash a zip in TWRP
Thank you Lonixlon, have you personally updated your X Force while having TWRP? I had a problem with installing OTA security patch as phone booted directly to TWRP. Do you know any workaround for that?
can anyone help this guy to share OTA file?
My idea, maybe stupid and wrong - Update arrives depending on the CID of the phone.
The version of the system says "retapac", which stands for "Retail Asia Pacific" - a retail version of the phone for Asia and the Pacific.
But I do not understand what is written in "On the phone" before upgrading to NUGA. Take on incomprehensible things, mismatches, in the version of Android, the Baseband version, the system version and the build number. In the build number is very old version of the system mpks24.78-8-12, in the version of the system is the latest version of the system with the upgrade to 6.0.1, but here the old version 6.0 and the old modem.
I have a lot of questions without answers ...

Well, may I express my opinion here too. I have an XT1581 Kinzie from China, it came with Lollipop 5.1.1. Workling perfect.
I go and update it to MM 6.0 using a Mexican or LKatin America rom, I keep the modem for the baseband from the Lollipop 5.1.1 Chinese rom, everything works almost better than before, not a single issue.
Now,m I tried to update it to Nougat 7 following the Google+ guide, a nightmare, although an enjoyable one!
First, I have only one sim working, no wif. Try anoth system, now I have two sims OK but still no wifi.
At the end, after many trials, I went back to my old MM 6.0 LAt rom, backed using TWRP, and the system is back to normal with everything working OK.
Did you ask me if I'm going to change? Nope, I'm happy the way things are, unless an official Nougat 7 ir 7.1.1 rom comes by, not loosing other time.
I agreemthere is a lot of confusion between the various roms and regions.
This news about the update and the video is very similar to the fake... Just why from such an ordinary case as an update do such a stupid circus?
not yet arrived in Indian version XT1580
neither for reteu.retfr
I have moto x play, is that mean android nougat not so far from us...??
Hello,
got here a new TA-1050, and been reading about updates. Was quite glad to find the list at HMD Nokia,
/phones/en_int/security-updates , then less thrilled to learn Pie is not a smooth sailing yet.
The device is on 00WW_2_13B, and offers OTA update to 00WW_3_260. If these are the only choices, I'm staying with 2_13B,
but would preffer the latest Oreo 00WW_2_22E_SP03 instead, or at least the patches with 00WW_2_13B_SP05.
If I understand correctly, all these updates should be still available via ota-api links, all official and signed, installable via copying to SD card and update command / dial.
But the only link I found is for the Pie update - the /packages/ota-api/nokia_pl2sprout_plate200ww/1879f071d6ca7ca72fb1a750f045c3cdf00ff4dc.zip
Is there a way to get the links for 00WW_2_22E / 00WW_2_22E_SP03 / 00WW_2_13B_SP05 ?
As in, does someone have them and would be willing to share?
Thanks in advance.
Pie is as stable as it can be. Whoever says something else is just a crybaby. :/

Regarding update firmwares you can get them from ASUS support page all of them will stay there when they are added. So no need to upload them somewhere else. Unless someone else would like to share the files, i would be happy to add the links to the first page.

Personally i love the Oreo Rom on the ROG more than the Pie Rom of the ROG 2, overall i think the Oreo Rom is polished compared to the half baked Pie Rom. The physical size of the ROG phone is just perfect in hand compared to the ROG 2. Other than that they are pretty much a like except for the obvious hardware differences. I was thinking of selling the ROG since i got the ROG 2 but i am keeping both until something better comes a long and then i might sell the ROG phone. But to be honest out of all the phones that i have bought and used these 2 phones are my favorite.

You can check the photos it's for the CN rom. I am still on the stock CN rom. I haven't tempered with the phone yet waiting to see if flashing the WW rom will still get updates.
But if someone has flashed the WW rom over the CN and still not able to get OTA it doesn't necessarily mean he will not get OTA, generally speaking the CN rom gets faster updates than the WW rom.

WARNING that the newest OTA update (9-29-2019) patches out the ability to disable the built-in Launcher. So if you update you will be stuck using that launcher instead of Nova, Apex, etc.

Hello,
the CN version is full of Chinese apps as you can realize... there are the themes, yes and also several additional eye-candies but the user experience is really poor for the CN language. Also with that, no updates...
I guess the best it will a custom rom with the spoofed fingerprint to get security patches at least.
I see that on the OnePlus forum it mentions a roll out udpate for Android 10, but I still have not seen this on my phone.

Guys, even if you download the 9.0.11 build from https://www.oneplus.in/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156155944 and flash it, you shall see the OOS 10 update from system update. If not from system update then download the oxygen updater from play store.
Ok guys...
I'm just trying to figure out why I don't just get an update for it to the phone?
I thought by now everywhere in the world the update would be pushed to the phone already?
Are there still people not getting the update through the phone still OTA?
THANKS
Bite the bullet and manually update. I know it's a PITA; but, if there's no OTA for your phone and you want to upgrade to A10, just go for it. You'll be better off with a fresh install anyway.
Same situation in here. Waiting for Android 10 since May (when stable release rollout was announced).
Edit: I found way too many people talking about bugs on Android 10 (battery drain, fingerprint sensor delay, call recording bug). I'm not sure, but maybe staying on OOS 9.0.11 is the right call.
If someone in here is already on OOS 10, please comment on that. Thanks

Ok thanks
I suggest looking in the official OP5/T Android 10 announcement thread. Over 400 pages of complaints and questions and OP doesn't give a ****. The thread is like a disaster area. The first Android 10 update was pulled because of that many bugs. Shortly after they pushed the update again with some hotfixes but with the same version number and without announcement. Then they pulled it again.
Maybe in the next 1-2 weeks there will be an update with some fixes and a more recent security patch. Hopefully not only June like in hydrogen OS but I don't expect much to be honest. I'm almost done with OP
btw I installed OOS 10.0.0 and rooted (to install dotfix + Gcam) and I'm pretty happy with it.
also, google pay stopped working after root. I guess I'll live without it since dotfix is really worth it IMHO.
