Hello!
I'm sill using my Robin as my daily driver and love the device. After much trial and error I have a version of the Google Camera working on stock 7.1.1 (found here, ARM version: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/apk-google-camera-4-2-022-135443920-t3482107), but feel like this version is missing some features of the later camera versions. For example, this version makes no mention of HDR+, and does struggle a bit with bright backlights, even though overall it is much better than the stock Nextbit camera app.
Is anyone using a newer version that would like to share the APK they are using with STOCK 7.1.1.?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Bleser,
Did you ever find a newer one that works with stock 7.1.1 on the Robin?
I, too, am on the stock 7.1.1 and tried several version from the link here and they didn't work either =(

Nope, I'm still using the one in my post above and it has proved to be stable and provide great results.

Hi, I was wondering if there is an app or software that can be downloaded to the S3 that gives it the same features as the camera on the new S5 Galaxy, or do you just have to buy the S5 to get those features? Is there a camera app that will work as well as the S5?
The camera software is ok, but limited in some features & doesn't take good low light shots. The software for the camera I had before upgrading to 10.2.1 was much better.
I'm running CM 10.2.1 (tried to update to the latest snapshot ver.9 & it was buggy). No stable release available in months, only snapshots.
Thanks for any advice/comments/etc.
Camera on aosp/cm is never gonna be that good.. You can try lenovo camera, I tried this one on CM and it did seem better than cm camera, also snap camera HDR I've heard some good things about it but never tried it. If you want a better camera experience try using touchwiz, the stock camera is probably what will give you the best results

I'm not sure about the S5 camera port, but the Lenovo Camera App has tons of nice features.
Lenovo camera crashes
I download & tried using the Lenovo camera (See it Snap it) from the link provided, has a lot of nice features but everytime I tried to use it, it would crash, so I had to delete it.
Oh, well Guess I will wait till I upgrade to either the S4 or S5.
Thanks.
Keep an eye on Likewise. Development has resumed on the original, and once ready, one of us will port it over.

Hi,
in the past I was upgraded to stock 5.1 and had big battery issues due to this. Downgrading to CM11 solved this.
Very happy.
Still, now I need some apps (Gear360 open app, cardboard, Google wirk) only available for Android 5.1 or better.
So my question, is if there is a fully functional (=camera, gyro, battery, sound, LTE, Wifi....) virus free stock above CM11 without bloatware from Sony or others around, which I can install without running into the battery issue again.
Minimum Google Play Store functionality is a must though.
I am a user, so appreciate not to technical answers.
The phone is rooted and has TWRP installed.
Thanks so much!!

I think your best bet is either stock 5.1 or dstriker, and just remove whatever bloatware you don't want. Fast battery drain is the fault of Gplay and Gservices most of the time, so if you delete the Gapps you don't want, and use a battery manager/network manager for the rest, battery life should be very good. The latest Cm12 builds by @derf elot and others are very good, (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=Amami), but I can't say anything about battery, since I haven't tested enough. Personally I use Jaguar most of the time, which is excellent, (https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...om-jaguar-amami-lp5-1-1-r37-hardened-t3396713).
MX rom v9.0 .
Hey guys thanks for the help. Is the Mx based on 5.1?Do you have a link?

How would you compare the LOS with this ROM? https://forum.xda-developers.com/so...velopment/rom-dstrikerz1-kai-rom-4-5-t2980761

Really? I ran this for 6 months, the phone seemed FAT respect to LOS, BTW you can install sony camera and other features, but the only you want, not fat sony apps and useless features like "glow mode" that doesn't work lol
AND THE SECURITY PATCHES UPDATED MONTHLY, NOT IN 2016.
Hi, need to revive this.
At the time I stayed with Cyanogen 11-20160510-unofficial-amami after all.Its Android 4.4.4. Kernel Version 3.4.0cyanogenmod-ga55e591 [email protected] #1 Tue May 10 22:28:47 CEST 2016 cm_amami-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84Q c8b9323008 test-keys.
Batttery works great, camera not so good, all other very stable and good. Still I cannot install some more recent apps.
This actually got rid of sudden death for me!
As some time has passed since I posted the original question, I thought it might be worth reasking.
Are there any very stable newer than 4.4.4 Roms without battery issues and a reasonable good camera around by now?
Network connections and SD card have to work reliably.I use the phone every day.
I prefer a very clean ROM without bloatware from Sony or Google.
Please be so kind to point me directly to the latest download. All the tech jargon here is very confusing to me.
Please answer without tech jargon I am a pure user and barely manage to flash!
Thanks again,
Franny
Hello ,
Actually my Mi5S is working great on MIUI 9.5 global stable ROM. Nevertheless, I don't really like MIUI design and I'd like to change to a Oreo (Stock) ROM like Lineage OS 15.1 or AOSP extended but I need some feedback about them (like Battery, bugs, Performance, Stability etc...) because feedback on topics aren't really complete. You also could share other Oreo ROM which are stable enough. Don't forget to specify which version of the ROM you have.
Thanks a lot and I hope this thread will help others!
Install RessurectionRemix ROM (or PixelExperience - slightly faster IMO) and you don't have to wory about nothing
AEX seems to work best with my phone. Faster than LOS and PixelExp, superior and consistent battery life (6h of SOT with ForceDoze installed) and no noteworthy bugs. Considering stablity and extra functions there are very few bad choices as most ROMs for this device are pretty good. Just be sure to install the right hardware-firmware and follow installation instructions carefully.
If you're moving from MIUI the battery is the thing that will probably will get worse results. Performance and features are better with the custom ROMs. Also installing a modded GCam (ported Pixel image processing for really good quality) is a must.
[sorry X2 post, didn't find how to delete it]
Okey guys thanks for your reply. Are you using a custom kernel ?
@Djeloan Pixel Experience seems to not be updated anymore... No more support ?
@8166uy I reckon I will install AEX if it's enough stable for daily use. By the way, you recommend to install a modded Cam. Is it because pre-installed cam on Custom ROM doesn't work as well as stock Cam on MIUI ?
I'm not a big fan of custom kernels as you don't profit THAT much with it, but does give extra problems every few weeks. And yes the modded camera is partly because the stock camera from the ROMs aren't all that good, but also because with it you can make it as good as modern flagships from the big western brands. So expect better sharpness, better dynamic range, better low-light performance and a properly working portrait background blurring effect.
For the best results take the GCam from B-S-G or Arnova for pictures (there are threads plenty about them here) and OpenCamera for videos (can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera).
Download link for all versions of the modded GCam are btw here if you feel adventurous. Some are more stable than others:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
I use this one because of stability and device specific tweaks:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...018.177470874.41362666__A7.0-8.1_MI5S_v2e.apk
Great ? thanks for sharing that ^^
I've heard that Arnova's GCam works significantly better on Oreo than BSG's.
For me the Arnova ones just keeps crashing with low light no matter which version I pick, so I would just try both and see which one fits best. I personally never had any problems with B-S-G builds on Oreo.
i avoid messing with kernal's unless its a hobby you enjoy. it can get time consuming later on

use toylan's
I am running a custom OS, which varies from Statix, Nitrogen to Holydragon or MSM. At this moment Statix though; simple, fast and stable.
I have read some topics about camera apps for the OnePlus 3T.
Although Google Camera app in modified version is very populair, I have issues running it.
Probably because I am not using any Google related stuff (Google Play Services, Google Photo's etc...), so I keep coming back at Open Camera, or OnePlus Camera app.
At this moment I am using oneplus-camera-2-5-34, but I was wondering if some people have experience with latest Oneplus camera apps (V3.0.xx) on OnePlus 3T, or could advise other options with great results.
2.5.34 is stable and working fine, but ofcourse is missing options of newer (OP5 and OP6) versions.
Home someone is willing to share his experiences and give some advice!

2.8.32 running fine indeed, thanks.
Other tips also welcome of course
I see that MGC_8.4.600_A10_V13 (BSG, 2022-06-24) is considered "stable" now.
Has anyone tried it?
I'm currently using MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2a (because MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2b doesn't work on my phone)
But it would be nice to see if 8.4 improves much over 8.1
