I tried some type c headphones and they dont work. Find some that has dac

Hi there. Can anyone in this thread tell me what kind of DAC is in the original USB-C to 3.5mm adapter included with the pixel 2xl? I mean what is the the resolution it outputs? Is it 24 bit/192 khz.or what? I have looked for this info everywhere and I am having trouble finding out. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

HTC Desire - USB audio output possible

Hi Devs,
first of all, sorry for starting a new thread, but searched the forum and didn't find exactly that.
Like I've read, there is no audio over USB support built-in to our mighty Desire.
I tried a few different microUSB to 3.5mm jack adapters from ebay - even one declared as for HTC Desire. Checked the usb-pins-assignment also and it seems that HTC hasn't built in (or turned off) that function in opposite to some other manufacturers.
So will it be possible to write a rom or a kernel, that'll support that?
If it is possible, I would appreciate a few hints what I'll have to do, to get this thing working!
Thanks in advance!
Can I know why you need that? Is it for A/V out?

Its not possible to send analog audio signal over the usb since its a standard usb plug. Only the old htc phones with extUSB had audio, but its was a bigger plug with more pins.
On that note i dont get why you want to get audio from there, when theres a nice 3.5mm jack socket on the top of the phone.

Thanks for your quick answers!
Yes, since there are no music docks for desire I built my own and it has to be possible, other phones with microUSB have that function - why not ours?
I know the old extUSB plug from my magic, there it is no problem. But there must be a way to get this working! I think it is only a software and/or driver issue.
If you'll get a music dock you'll have to plugin the phone + jack everytime? ? ? Look on ebay there are a few universal docks over microUSB, but not working for the nearly best and most sold android phone on market?
Pls give me some hints if there is a way to do that - everything is possible!

Umm, well not really. Because who says that the USB port of your phone is connected the right way internally to actually SEND data over the cable/dock.
I have no idea on how to do it. Thats just what I think, but with Android, a LOT is possible

YEAH IT IS!
On Nexus one they built in extra pins for docking and audio over that works like a charm.
I'm having a few adapters microUSB to 3.5mm jack for Motorola,Samsung,Nokia...phones from ebay, but not one reaction from Desire
Maybe the adapter for Desire needs a Digital-to-analog converter to get analog audio out of the microUSB port.
But no technical details over that from HTC - does anyone know more about the microUSB connections on our Desire? Tried to get a technical manual for Desire, but no chance on google...
If there is no other solution, I'll have to disassemble my expensive Desire to get a view on connections and maybe some hints which IC is managing the microUSB.
Does any dev know what would be possible by modding a kernel or rom?
Thanks in advance!

im also looking for something like this, though i want digital-audio out. for example in my car, plug and play so i get spotify from my usb to my stereo and able to control spotify from my stereo. there is no problem for this if you use iphone, though id like to be able to do it on my htc.
any solution?
Ability to stream out the audio through USB would be something nice to have.
There's a guide online on how to splice a USB and 3.5mm cable to the Apple USB cord so that you can charge and play audio on ipod accessories, as long as you don't mind having USB and audio plugged in at the same time. http://www.erwanmace.com/2012/07/ipod-dock-android/

Android Soundstation BT/WLAN/DOCK

Hey guys im searchin for a sounddock for my android phone.
i found this one think atm. its the one and only with dock for android phones!?
if it isn´t plsease post some other and or if you have one other with your experience on it
Here is mine i found(maybe someone has it and writes his experience?):

How about this one :
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/home-theater/DA-E651/ZA
I've seen them in the stores in the UK for about £ 180.00 (Currys, Comet, etc)
Sound quality is awesome, and I'm probably gonna get one at some stage. Charges the phone via USB but audio is either via Bluetooth or All share WiFi.
I'm waiting for a dock with usb audio. I could put up with Bluetooth, but won't bother plugging in to the headphone jack. But like I said I think I will wait, I hope there will be a few options by Christmas.

(For the audiophiles) USB DAC

Seeing threads about USB DACs around and the recent Jelly Bean update enabling USB DAC support, I thought we could compile a list of users who have tested their DACs with the HOX. Similar to the Jelly Bean update thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1967980) , we could share information on our update and the devices tested against that update.

I'm using it mostly time as a portable amp form my headphones, sometimes with laptop. Is it big advantage? It really depends on headphones you are using, are they easy to drive by internal amp of the phone or not. In my case i have big difference in sound, my hox just couldn't manage to drive my AudioTechnica M-50s fully, so i bought an amp. Cheers.

It's hard to say, there's two important things: first is which headphones you have or gonna buy, second which dac to buy then (there is many of them and i can't tell you which one is working with hox, that's why this topic was made for). Hopefully there will be bigger feedback from users, telling us which amps are working or not so you can pick up yours then, cheers.
where does it get the extra power from?

I've seen plenty of DAC's without an internal battery but only usb-powered. You'll need an otg cable for that. I tend to use an external hdd for my tablet to watch movies down the road and I use one of those usb external batteries. Works like a charm. I myself use a DAC for my raspberry pi and it doesn't have an internal battery, do otg is yet again the way to go.

You are right, but we are talking about amps you can use with hox, which means they must be portable, so they should have battery. Somehow can't imagine going outside with few batteries, hox and amp in my pocket cheers
Hey guys, nice to see this thread. I just want to buy a portable amplifier with my HOX. But I need your suggestion as I never use one. Currently, I have AKG 518DJ, and I think I am going to get a FiiO E7 or FiiO E11. What do you guys think? Is it worth? Thank you

Hi, as far i know e7 works with HOX for sure, don't know about e11, but if it does take e11, but if you'll take e7 better add few bucks and take e07k, as i see
u have akg 518dj and they are quite bassy headphones so u don't need an extra bass which e11 can deliver over e7, hopefully i could help cheers

Pie and USB Audio

It's likely a setting that I just can't find, but is anyone successfully using the usb-c audio adapter for headphones with Pie? This wasn't an issue in the DP versions, but when I plug in the adapter, it defaults to "charging the connected device via USB" and doesn't allow me to change it.
I'd really hate for my brand new pair of Audio-Technica headphones to be rendered useless...
Is it the Google provided adapter? I read somewhere that third-party accessories were not compatible...

No worries. It's good to know that third-party adapters are not supported, though.
Update: Interesting thing to note is that it works fine with Flash Kernel v3.0, but not stock kernel.
@nathanchance just mentioning you here to keep you apprised (as if you don't get enough mentions...)
I just tried it and mine doesn't work either with the Google provided adapter.
Update: It does work with my headphones.

FWIW, completely stock, using the adapter from the box with Audio Technica ATH-M50x works as expected.
For whatever reason however my Sol Republic wired cans no longer work with the adapter (they did previously on the DP's)

I think my kids have that model, I will try to find them and see if they work.
EDIT: found them, they work fine as well.
I stopped using the stock adapter as it is super lose in the port. I opted to purchase Razer's adapter as it's of a higher quality. I used it this morning while cooking breakfast and it worked great.
It may have just been a goof, but I was grabbing logs and happened to see a message that said my device was not capable of usb audio. Stock Pie rooted image from yesterday.
The audio adapter is not working on my Pixel 2 XL after the official Android P OTA update.

Moto-Z Play Type-C Headphones

hello.does moto z play supporting usb c headphones?anyone tried that ?
Yes it does support USB-C headphones. The only ones I have gotten to work are USB headphones without a microphone which seems to be harder to find online now.
