[Q] SLCD screen broken, replaceable with amoled?

Hi guys,
sorry if they has been answered elsewhere, ive been searching the web for days. I got a brand new HTC desire a couple of weeks ago and preceded to drop it, shattered the digitizer and damaged the LCD screen. I decided to do the repair myself and changed the parts no problem. The problem is the replacement screen wont work (it was brand new, genuine). My phone has an SLCD (checked part number against the replacements) and the replacement was an AMOLED.
Should the screen work no problem in my handset or do i need to get a hold of a SLCD? Also, im new to the rooting scene, but would this help 'fix' my problem?
Any help would be appreciated. I need to get my 2 weeks old phone working again haha.....i should have just sent it to HTC lol.
Thanks in advance,
Andy

[Q] Capacitive buttons stop working

Today is a very sad day for me somehow my new htc one x's capaticive buttons stopped working i restarted and even factory resetted and they are not working anymore
my previous htc hd2 was stopped digitizer working too. How unlucky i am.
I guess I neet to install CWM and using on screen button
which rom do you reccomend? ı used to install couple roms to hd2 but i havent tried with one x
thank you all
Factory reset will only reset it to the rom you have flashed. Have you tried flashing the correct ruu for your phone? When you say it's new, how new? New enough to return to where you got it for replacement?

Yes this happened to me two days ago as well my buttons light up but that it so I looked everywhere for a fix but no luck now I'm on icsCOLDJELLY 3.2.1 AOKP so now I can use my phone not to sure if I did something wrong when I flashed ANDROID revolution 12 or maybe the firmware

I have installed icecoldjelly but then I had problem with mobile network :s
capacitive buttons stopped working
my htc one x touch sensitive buttons have stopped working like a week ago, i then installed the coldjellybean by which i got that onscreen buttons after 2 days the buttons started working n i thought of selling the set but as i was going to make a deal with a person that day the problem appeared again, i dont have the warranty left and the screen replacement is quite not an option. Is there any trick that i can work on to make them work again.

it could be just the digitizer and on ebay you can find it quite cheap.

i took the phone to my local market n came to know that the their isnt any separate capacitive buttons cable, it is embedded within the lcd, so if i have to order then whole complete lcd + digizer + module, and i checked the online purchase price is almost the same price the local market ppl are offering that is near 60 dollars.
Just that i am not sure why does the buttons stopped working and if somehow why they started working n now have again stopped ;(

not sure what you mean.. look at this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Touch-S...865?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d02ec98e9
anyway it happened to me with another phone that a portion of the digitizer stopped working for a few days, then it started working again and then it stopped for good and had to replace it.

hmmm, well actually i was reading all the other threads with this issue and came upton this
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696552
Which shows "DO NOT try to replace the screen by yourself" and i can see that on my set that its rather v hard to do this thing instead everyone says to buy the whole module as it is very complex thing to do.

it is hard to separate the digitizer from the lcd but it's doable and nothing like the iphone digi+lcd that uses an epoxy adhesive. so if you are carefull (or have someone skilled doing it for you) you wont break the lcd and you'll save quite some money. it's true though that the new digitizer wont stick to the lcd as well as a "genuine combo digi+lcd" and you will notice dust building in between the two. my advice, if you know someone that is skilled enough, try get the digitizer off without breaking the lcd and if you manage that then buy the new digitizer. otherwise since you said that changing the whole digi+lcd is not an option you can always try sell your one x as damaged or use it as an expensive paperweight.
best of luck mate, i hope you solve it one way or another.

haha that paperweight thing made my day... well thanks for the advice but i think i am going to wait until it gets ok by itself as it happened before until then icecoldjelly rom would be a temporary solution for the onscreen buttons. Thanks anyway

[Q] Recalibrate screen after digitizer replacement?

So I accidentally dropped the phone and broke the digitizer. So I bought a new one. I went to a friend of mine working in the service of phone repairs and told me that there is a chance after we install the new digitizer that it will need recalibration and that it will need to wipe everything from the phone to do so.
Do you have any experience in this process? Is what he says possible? And if yes will I need to re root the phone?
Thanks in advance!
nothing? :/ noone has replaced one?

That's usually never the case, newer touch screens do not need calibration.

Signs of use? There's no way of telling if its new, I guess you could call it new if the screens totally spotless though

Research those screens on Amazon. I've bought 2 so far. Both were imperfect. I'm hoping the one from repairs universe (they did the screen fix thread) will not be imperfect.

Seconding this. I've bought 2 so far from eBay (one from Edens Designs, which I also got replaced, but neither worked; and one from wholesalegadgetfix, which shipped from a company called EZelextronix, and which did not work either).
It's possible that they needed to be calibrated which never crossed my mind. But every time I put my old cracked screen back on, it works like it used to.
Also my bottom buttons don't work, either. If I touch the back or menu key, the touch actually registers on the lowest part of the screen. My fix was to enable the back-home-menu softkeys (like they are on the LG G2 and G3) with an app called Softkey Enabler.

Yes I am now. Been having some issues with my phone lately but yeah.
I did some Googling and I get it now. Has anyone done an E980 specific list of useful build.prop changes?

inyour favorite file manager edit your build.prop or use build prop editor from the play store, and add qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 to enable the stock android navbar

Which one did you order?

New LCD display installed, but fingerprint not working anymore. Also No fingerprint o

Just installed a new LCD display. Display works fine but fingerprint not working anymore. What could be the problem!?!??
Did you repair it yourself or did you give it to a service center?

I did it myself. Why?
Did you damage the ribbon cable while replacing the display? From my experience they are very delicate
From where did you bought the LCD display from? Is it bought online or sourced from your local mobile market? I'm unable to source one myself so asking for help. Thanks.
Though I don't like to mention this on here because it is an android forum I think your fingerprint sensor can't work because of hardware change problem.the hardware in the phone does not recognise the new Lcd screen when it comes to fingerprint.this is the exact same thing with iPhone Apple touch id will not work anymore iff you change the digitizer. I know this because my friend fixes iPhone screens and always has problem with touch id.something to do with hardware mismatch.

I bought it from eBay. On AliExpress there was only one seller, 160€! I waited for price drop but suddenly object was not available anymore. Then accidentally a week later saw the object on eBay also one seller, 100€. Bought immediately because was only chance..
I just looked and can't find object anymore so I think you have no chance of buying..

To be honest I don't see much diffirence, but then again I can't actually compare it .. I'm happy with the result. There are no faults, whole screen is clear, no problems.

LCD and fingerprint are different pieces, I think it should not affect outcome.
Does changing display really stop the fingerprint recognition? @melchiar

Well I can't confirm that the fingerprint is actually broken. I know that when you replace a iPhone screen the fingerprint also don't work anymore because the replacement screen isn't official, and for some reason there is a software conflict. Maybe here it is the same thing. Idk
