I recently got a 7x from ebay.co.uk. I noticed the opened box states the model is BND-AL10 (Chinese) but in the phone settings it's a BND-L21 (International). S/N and IMEI match.
Out of curiosity I tried Huawei Firmware Finder for Oreo. I used DNS method, picked the top one as seen here (verified): hxxp://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=BND-L21C432&firmware_page=0
It downloaded like 20 patches totalling around 8+GB and then asked to reboot...and failed.
My phone still works but I now get this during boot:
"your device has failed verification and may not work properly.
1) Press power key to continue.
2) Press volume up key up to 3 seconds to enter erecovery to restore your device.
3) your device will stop, start if there is not operation.
I tried Huawei eRecovery: 'Getting package info failed'
What should I do? Noob.

erecovey fails for everybody. dont know why.
the message you see is normal if bootloader is unlocked. You should have had that same message first time you turned it on too.
Attempting to use firmware finder to apply updates , is not possible to unlock bootloader, so it had to have already been that way.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely did not have this message before trying Firmware Finder. I have not done anything else to the phone.

This is known message resulting from of having boooader unlocked. Few people have been trying to make it not show , but no one has made it public if they have been successful at hiding it.
Now you got that phone (used, I assume ).From eBay. Perhaps the previous owner found some way. And attempting to update made his "hack" undo. Don't really know.
You can check if bootloader lock status to be sure if it is unlocked or not.

that status is very bad.
that combination of unlocked bootloader and locked frp is often hard if not impossible to get past.
unless you can access developer options menu and enable "enable oem unlock" menu option.

I read that "Huawei is no longer offering bootloader unlock code in 60 days." I tried to request a unlock but I get just get
"If you have any questions about the unlock code application, please contact us."
Nothing happens. I contacted them.
Will I ever need that unlock code given that it is already unlocked? Should I return/refund the phone and buy from Amazon UK or am I wasting my time, since I'll likely be requesting a unlock code and possibly be playing with roms in a few years. I keep phones as long as possible and a basic user which is why I have little knowledge with them.

I would try and get a refund (if you bought via PayPal I think you may get some kind of support).
You can get the 7x from UK retailers for as low as £210. But the current Amazon price of £228 is not bad.
Do you browse HotUKDeals? Always check there before buying anything in the UK or from China.

Yes, PayPal. I contacted the seller on the matter. Will see what they say. After using Firmware Finder correctly I updated to 8.0 Oero. The message during boot also went away... I'll certainly check out hotdeals. But if the phone works should I bother?

Hi. I'm having an issue with this new phone. It's Wowi Ultra SQ766. On start up interface the 'Red State' notice comes up, goes off for 5 seconds and comes back on. The full message states:
'Red State
Your device has failed verification and may not work properly.
Please download boot image with correct signature or disable verified boot.
Your device will reboot in 5 seconds'.
Could you please help me out with a solution or fix for this.
I'd be happy if you would help.

Hi guys,
Last week I've bought the Huawei P20 Lite and it's a great phone - but like the most of you all I like a rooted phone and the guide provided in this forum works perfectly but... my Huawei P20 Lite must have an unlocked bootloader.
No problem, I've used the Huawei unlock password webpage on my previous phone (P9 Lite), eh.... right... like other user mentioned - it's down for unknown reasons and an alternative isn't possible. Believe me I've tried them all - even the chinese pages which are very hard to read if you're not born in that country
So, I've read about DC-Unlocker other users have used to succesfully to get the bootloader unlock code but even when following every known tutorial to use it correctly I got no luck on my Windows 10 PC for hours to connect the needed COM ports. Even the programmer of DC-Unlocker respons in a forum question the software will only work on the P20 Pro!? But, other users managed to get the code.... strange..
Finally I've managed to get the bootloader unlock code and I do want to share it for all other users having troubles connecting the phone to use DC-Unlocker. It's my first tutorial so please be patient if I'm not clear or missing something; if that's the case do respond.
Method 1:
This one is quite easy but you'll need some patience (a couple of days in my case). Send a message with a request using the offical Huawei website and the Contact Us option: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/contact-us/
I send a mail something like this:
Dear customer support,
I would like to receive an unlock bootloader code for my Huawei P20 Lite phone. I am aware I'll void my warranty but would like to get receive the code anyway.
Thank you.

A few days later I've got a respons with the answer this is possible and a few questions for the data they need to do so. Responding to the e-mail will result in the unlock code you'll need.
I cannot say how long it exactly will take to get a respons. In my case it was arranged in a few days but don't know how quick the respons will be for any other user.
Method 2:
For anyone who cannot wait a couple of days (like me), here's an alternative which will cost about 4 to 5 euro's (credits) to get the code using DC-Unlocker.
Requirements:
DC-Unlocker client which can be downloaded here: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/downloads
Windows 7 or 8 (Windows 10 didn't work for me - but hey, you can always try :good
Well, let's go:
First connect your phone to the PC using the original USB cable.
When drivers are installed a popup screen would appear to view the "HiSuite" drive. This is a created drive-letter which contains a HiSuite Software downloader. Click to open or use the Windows Explorer to browse to this virtual drive.
Install the HiSuite software - this is important to get the correct drivers AND correct COM ports installed on your system. Skipping this step will result in non working DC Unlocker software.
When all is done go to the settings in your phone and open: System -> About Phone and tap the Build-number line about 7 to 8 times. Most likely the phone will ask for a PIN to active the developers mode. This is the code you've setup to use your phone. If you're already have a "developers option" you can skip this step.
Now click the "back" arrow once and select "Developer options".
Tap OEM-Unlock to activate it (confirm if needed), scroll down and tap USB Debugging to turn it on.
Your phone should ask permission to connect your PC (with some MAC address). Confirm it so the connection is approved. If that doesn't show up disconnect the USB cable and check if the USB debug mode is still active in the "Developer options". Than reconnect the cable to your PC.
Now we're ready to use the DC-Unlocker software to get our unlock code:
First you need some credits and you can buy the using this link: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy
Just fill in the the fields User-name, E-mail and Credits. Leave the "New user account" option selected if you are a new user.
For the Credits you only need 4 of them. I, initially, bought 5 so I still have one left
You'll receive a confirmation e-mail with a username and password. These are needed a bit later.
Extract the DC-Unlocker client to a fold and start it by clicking dc-unlocker2client.exe using the Windows Explorer (or any other file manager). To be sure you can also right-click the file and start the program using Administrator credentials.
Select in the right portion of the program the tab "Server" and enter the username and password you've received by mail. Check the "Remeber" box and click "Check login" to verify your account.
Click in the left portion of the program the dropdown list below "Select manufacturer" and choose "Huawei phones".
Leave the droplist "Select model" selected at "Auto detect (recommended)".
Grab your phone and open your dialer to type this code: *#*#2846579#*#* - this will get you into the service menu of the phone.
Tap 1. Background Settings -> USB Port Settings and select Manufacture Mode and than tap Close.
Put the phone done and let your PC install the newly found drivers.
If that's done click the Magnifying glass in the DC-Unlocker client software.
If all is connected correctly your phone is detected and a message in the white part of the program will tell you so. Also the "Select Model" field should display Huawei HiSilicon Kirin Android if the detection is succesfull.
Now you're ready to read the unlock code! Yeah!
Click in the right portion of the DC-Unlocker client on the tab Unlocking.
Several buttons are visible but just click Unlock which could take a few moments before something is displayed in the white area at the bottom of the program window.
The unlock code can be copied and pasted - so please do copy the number to a text file and store it savely on your computer or in your cloud.
You are the proud owner of the unlock bootloader code of your phone so have fun and start rooting it using the tutorials on this forum! Have fun!
Final note (once again): I did not have any success getting the unlock code using DC-Unlocker while using a Windows 10 PC. No matter which drivers I tried, no matter how many times a tried, tried and tried some more - nothing would work. The needed virtual COM ports to read the phone information couldn't be installed. Finally I've used an older Windows 7 laptop and it work like a charm!
So beware; when you've no luck using Win 10, stop wasting time and use a virtual machine or old laptop/PC which has Win 7 (maybe Win 8)!
I've used the official website today and got my unlock code in a seconds.

This link is still active. Atleast for now; when entering the UNLOCK page on the website this announcement pops up:
To provide better user experience and avoid issues caused by ROM flashing, the unlock code application service will be stopped for all products launched after 2018-5-24.
For products released prior to this date, the service will be stopped 60 days after this announcement.

If I understand it correctly this unlock page is only available for about 60 days. The unlock page should be accessible until the 23rd of july 2018? I guess sending them an email will still do the job or you can use the DC-Unlocker tool as described in this topic.
Will they automatically cancel your warranty if you request this unlock code?
Hello everyone. I downloaded de DC-Unlocker, did all the process exactly as the steps and in the end the tool said it was successful and that my phone is now unlocked. However, it never gave me the code.
Is there any way to retrieve this code?
Edit: It seems all the wanted was more money. I had to buy an extra 4 credits to click on the option "read unlock code". Now I have it and my phone is unlock

I was using Windows 7.
Ironically, i had to revert it back to stock and lock the bootloader again because the phone was hardware damaged and I needed to take it back to the store so the could exchange it.
I don't want to spend more money to unlock the bootloader and root it, so this new phone will remain totally stock unless it is extremely necessary
Mine seems to work with DC Unlocker, but how to verify?
Thanks!

God damn. I seem to run into the same issue. CLT-L29 8.1.0.152(C432)
I heard that it's impossible to unlock the bootloader even if you have the code for it if running the latest OS update. Is this true? Are we stuck with Huawei's spyware for good?

Dear Mr xxxxx,
thank you for your request regarding the bootloader code.
My name is Tolga Akburak, I would be happy to take care of your request.
We have stopped support for the bootloader code.
Therefore, unfortunately, it would no longer be possible.
If you have any further questions, I look forward to reading from you again. Until then, thank you very much for the pleasant communication and have a nice day.
Best regards,

The unlock company who I went through apparently changed the Model number to a Moto G4, but the unlock seems to have stuck, but the model number is different. At this point, I've gotten ATT to give me an official sim unlock code. So I'm really not sure what to do.

Write me PM, I know the solution to unlock even hard locked device.
hi, so I was trying to unlock the bootloader before attempting to use an AOSP pie rom using this guide on the official LG site http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
Anyway when I come to step 9, I type "adb reboot bootloader" and the phone reboots in fastboot mode. Then when I type "fastboot oem device-id" the phone freezes and I have to press the power button to restart it, meanwhile in the powershell command page it says
Code:
C:\Users\chahi\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools>fastboot oem device-id
FAILED (Write to device failed (No such file or directory))
fastboot: error: Command failed
I checked my drivers and everything seems to work perfectly fine. I am at my fifth attempt and I'm beginning to feel pretty desperate. If anyone encountered the same problem or could help me solve this I will be very thankful !
Thanks in advance.
NB : I'm on windows 10 and my phone is running the korean pie rom.

I cannot 100% say what the cause is with certainty (I have the Sprint version and I absolutely hate this piece of trash) but others have reported similar issues from actually having a different variant that was cross-flashed to the EM model and sold as EM when it's really a Sprint version (for example). What happens when you enter your IMEI number in LG site, does it return the EM variant or something else? That's where I would start (unless you have already done this and confirmed it's EM). Non EM versions lack the full ADB support so we can't unlock the bootloader. This is the same point I lockup as well but mine was not intended to be unlocked.

Yes I actually typed my IMEI in the LG site and it gave me a gray OK so I guess I truly have the EM version ? (knowing that only the EM is supported idk) Are there other methods to make sure I have the EM version for sure ? Also worth noting that I bought the phone new from North Africa so it must be the european version and not a carrier one.
Thank you !

Not that I'm aware of but if the LGdev site let you get the unlock code then I will assume it's real as they do validate it. Normally I would suggest to reach out to LG but that's a waste, they won't help. In fact they shutdown the dev recently because of unlock requests so they don't care about us so that won't help you. I'll do some research and see if there's any official way to help but hopefully others will chime in with the answers.

Good luck with LG, they most likely will do nothing to assist you. That's my biggest gripe with LG, they suck with customer care nor give 2 craps about us, the customers. My LGG7 sucks so bad, it's barely usable but they will not do anything to help me nor Sprint so I'm leaving both once my horrible lease is up. All I can say is to sign the bootloader petition and leave LG, it's the only way they will ever change and even then, they probably won't. They will soon be out of business just like Blackberry's downfall and for the same reasons. They don't listen to the customers and change, nor did RIM with activesync, now RIM is a mere fraction of what they used to be, LG mobile is next. I hear so many complaints about LG devices, not just LG mobile but the entire company. All the same type of complaints across all LG products, no customer support when the device stops working and they pass the buck every time, and locked bootloaders (for LG mobile).
There is no unofficial unlock yet, that's why I'm so unhappy with the piece of junk! If I could unlock and install my own flavor of AOSP then it would be an entirely different story and I would fix my own issues and have an awesome device. Instead the jackalope in charge of LG decided to keep the bootloaders locked with no support to unlock (except for EM) but even that barely works (your issue).
I don't know what else to say except LG SUCKS, LG is terrible. I so wish I hadn't let the Sprint rep bully me into this horrific device. I should have stood my ground and not accepted the deal which came with this expensive paperweight (LGG7).

SIM unlocked, yes, bootloader unlocked, no (on Sprint and everything other than the European model, no, EM model, yes), the rest of us, no, huge difference. I would pay a small fortune if bootloader unlocks were possible and why I bought the LG octoplus, still no option yet unfortunately.

Are you 100% sure this is not SIM unlocked using a modified octoplus (I have already gone down this path) so I bought my own octoplus. I am pretty sure all these "unlock" are merely SIM unlocks and not bootloader unlocks. I've investigated this pretty deep and it was only SIM unlocks not bootloader. As far as I'm aware, there is no hacks or mods to unlock the bootloaders for any LG G7 as of yet. eBay results are all SIM (which is simply using oct to apply the US-unkocked m ok model unlocking the SIM).
If you can find a REAL bootloader unlock method that works and unlocks my bootloader, I will PayPal you 20-30 bucks (I'm not joking). There is no method yet that anyone I know, knows of.

It's not sim unlock
It works by installing g710em bootloader and then flashing an unlock.bin .It's actual bootloader unlock. You can probably even do it yourself on a octopus box but I'm not sure what does it allow and not allow you to do.

If does exist, I can't find it on eBay or the internet, only SIM unlocks. I will keep checking but I don't see anything to unlock the G7 bootloaders.

hi, so I was trying to unlock the bootloader before attempting to use an AOSP pie rom using this guide on the official LG site http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev

Hey Piatch, i'm stuck on your same situation!
I have a new LMG710EM taken a month ago in a store, today with the Pie release (I'm in Italy) I found some time to unlock the bootloader, root, debrand (my G7 is TIM branded) and update to Pie.
I'm not new with LG, I come from G2, G5, G6 and now G7, never a problem (apart from the slowness in the updates I like them).
Well, just your situation, only the wording is a bit different, to me it says FAILED (Write to device failed (Too many links)) then the phone reboots and freezes in G7 logo and I have to press the power button to restart it, like yours.
I've tried everything, even reading online, different USB cables, different fastboot versions, but nothing worked.
Then I unbranded via lgup refurbish option to have a clean install and reinstalled all, thinking that maybe the new OS would solve but nothing, same message.
Can anyone help us?
It is the first time in several years that I have not found a solution.
Thank you in advance

Hi f0ster, I did not find any solution because I was lacking the time and tbh the skill to do it. I think we can't unlock the bootloader while under Pie ? Maybe if we roll back to Oreo, then we can unlock it and then update to Pie again ? I don't have the skills nor the confidence to safely flash Oreo on the G7 (I had bad experiences with bootlooping on the G3 and G4). Maybe you could try this way and see if it works out for you ?
Hey guys I'm in big trouble
Short story I tried to update to MIUI 12 and ended up with only bootloader working, I followed this guide getdroidtips.com/guide-flash-miui-rom-xiaomi-devices/#How_to_Flash_Xiaomi_Firmware_using_Fastboot to flash the stock rom but I installed Global instead of Chinese (My phone is chinese), when I boot it says that "this miui version cant be installed on this device, looks like my bootloader have been locked again.
I tried flashing the correct rom with mi flash tool but no success
If anyone has any idea of what I need to do please tell me I absolutely dont know what to do :/
Thanks in advance
You should try to unlock the bootloader again.Remember, you can only re-open with the account you first opened.

Thanks for your response!
I tried unlocking it again but it tells me that I need to add my account in the MIUI settings which of course I can't do.
My phone came with an already unlocked bootloader when I bought it because it's a chinese version with global rom.
Do you think the account needed to re unlock the bootloader could be the one the seller used to unlock it the first time ?

possibly opened with the seller's account,if the seller cannot unlock, the only method is EDL,authorized account is required for this and the back cover needs to be removed.

Ok, I'll see with the seller then.
There's something I don't understand with EDL, what step needs an authorized account?
If I open my phone, short-circuit the pin to enter EDL mode then flash the fastboot rom via Mi Flash Tool will I be just asked to login at some point ?
I tried to connect to account_auth.exe and I get the message "This computer is bound to your PC, you can start now". Does this mean that my account is authorized ?
The differents guides explaining how to check if an account is authorized never show this and I'm not getting that red error message so that's weird

you are getting this error because your account is not authorized.xiaomi services have this account if you find a completely informal service maybe they will help or a quality not offical phone service. The repairers who think that they will repair the device can make the device brick. You should be careful and finally, you can take a look at it, maybe it will work.

Quick update in case someone is going through the same problem and need some help:
I contacted this guy on whatsapp +7 967 777-15-98, cost me 29usd and the guy had to try like 3 times over team viewer until it worked but in the end it did.
So yeah basically for now the only solution seems to be paying random dudes in Ukraine :/
Let's hope Xiaomi change their policy or someone find a bypass to this EDL authorization bullsh*t

If you found a cheaper one it might be worth waiting a bit for him to respond, be sure to Google his phone number to be sure it's not a scam tho
Purchased the Oneplus 8 Pro at a discount of £154.00 from Amazon UK. Arrived next day brand new from or fulfilled by Amazon. The 'phone is exactly as OnePlus store EXCEPT the bootloader is LOCKED. OEM unlock in developers options is greyed out. Android debugging - OK, Dev Ops - OK. Unable to unlock bootloader = no root. .
Tried the unbrick approach - still no unlocking.
There is no branding of any kind that I have noticed.
So it's back in the box, back to Amazon & wait for Black Friday.
Unless there is another way to unlock bootloader.
Hope this helps others making that money parting decision.
So, many thanks for the input from everyone.
I obviously had a senior moment. I skipped accessing 'tinternet trying to be a smug mister.
I have now got the oem unlock the right colour, the device is unlocked & as I write rooting the unit.
Thanks again for sharing the info. (Return cancelled)
Wow that's crazy, have you tried oxygen updater?
OnePlus phones really shouldn't be locked down like that, shocking from Amazon.
What model / variant is it?
You should be able to adb uninstall apps btw, just Google it.
Ordered something similar

UK/ europe model, IN11BA OOS 10.5.8 out of box, OOS 10.5.11 back in box.(MSN Tool)
The OEM unlock was greyed out from first start up. My usual routine with onePlus phones: Power on run through initial setup (no sim), enable adb debug (I missed the OEM button 1st time - I'm getting old), enable advanced reboot. Update drivers on PC, then unlock bootloader, root etc;
I agree that it is very unusual for a Oneplus phone to be unbranded and locked down. It may be the Alexa built in partnership the thing is I did not notice the Amazon app on the phone.
It would be great if there is a work round for this before it goes to the courier tomorrow.

May sound silly but is the accessibility option turned on for OEM unlocking? Or admin?
May be possible to install another OS via Fastboot.
Did MSM make a single change?

MSN didn't make any changes.
Would using fastboot to flash another ROM still require an unlocked bootloader, also is the 'lock' for the OEM unlock before any other partitions.

Had no idea what it meant at the time.. But if theres a selectable option when you buy it, see what they do.
Having a OnePlus with a locked down bootloader is like buying a non alcoholic beer.
Non alcoholic Beer? it's just wrong
Have you tried downloading and installing the stock UK firmware from root

Yep it's true. I had a panic moment this summer when trying to unlock my bootloader. I skipped through all the initial setup steps and never connected to the web. I could not figure out why the bootloader unlock option was greyed out. Once I connected to the web the bootloader unlock option was available.

Surely the first thing with a new phone is popping your SIM in and getting online..
It's assume the OP actually did that.
But good to know cheers.
That also assumes that the device is checking in somewhere.
