Hi,
Want to do short review about OTAO tempered glass... I gave this a try because I read some bad reviews on Nillkin Tempered Glass...
I bought this on Aliexpress.com
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/OTAO...LG-Nexus-5-with-free-shipping/1575998889.html
it was sent From China with tracking number and arrived in South East Asia country within 14 days. Pretty impressed!
Good thing about this OTAO is every instruction is written in English.
Love the packaging, looks cutting-edge.
This is What you will get inside the packaging
1 x Grey Microfiber Clothes
1 x Transparent Tempered Glass Screen Protector
1 x Blue Sticker (not sure what this is?)
1 x Small Transparent sticker (not sure what this is?)
1 x Cleaning Bag
2 x Paper pouch bag
I followed the exact direction and also did read the nillkin thread how to apply the glass before applying it on my Nexus 5.
unfortunately I got what you called spider-webs / bubbles on the top left and Bottom right on the phone.
What surprised me is the bottom right corner also has 2 small cracks, about 1-3mm. Cant really see the cracks because I use the Case.
I probably got the bad batches....
I took a pic from my old Blackberry and iPod so it might be blur for some people.
Am now using it with Diztronic Voyeur Case and it doesnt push the screen :good:
That's probably exactly the same as the Nillkin one. Often these companies buy products from the same manufacturer and rebrand them as their own. I have the Nillkin and it looks the same (cut outside etc)

What I find VERY interesting, is that my TechPro tempered glass protector has the exact same defect at the bottom of the phone as yours.
I would guarantee they are likely one in the same, as far as manufacturer. Cut outs look the same as well for the camera, microphone, and ambient light sensor.

I found this out shortly after I had posted, and forgot to come back and edit.
I'm getting a bit more used to the lack of adhesion of that area, but it still bugs me. It's no longer just in that area, but at the top left and right corners of the phone, as well as in the center just above the USB port.
They look more like spiderwebs in those areas though.

use binder clips at those spots with spiderwebs, helps with those stubborn ones.
[Okay! I just got my cover (1 day before it was supposed to arrive LOL just like it happened with my V20). Anyway. This is my review:
First of all, here is the link to purchase the cover (maybe cheaper in other websites, maybe not):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/26267917850...49&var=561595568110&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Now, lets proceed by telling you what was included:
1x Heavy duty cover (dual layers, 3 pcs); 1x Premium Tempered Glass; 1x Dust absorbant cloth; 1x Cleaning wipe
Finally, Lets get to the review! The good and the bad:
The good: I like the cover. So far i dropped the phone from 3 feets and nothing happened to it. The cover meets Military Grade 810.1-G Compliancy. The first layer feels like a fat layer of clear TPU but it doesnt feel bad at all. The outer layers are made of Polycarbonate to absorb the falls. The TPU layer is enough to absorb the impact but the 2 layers of polycarbonate have 2 purposes to protect, but also to make the phone adjust firmly in the cover. The audio jack and the type c usb port both have dustproof covers so that it doesnt penetrate any dust particles. easily to open and close. With this cover you will be able to use every functionality. Including IR Blaster, and every mic has its big enough hole to let the voice sound as clear as possible. cover doesnt feel bulky, to put it inside your pocket with or without cover, you wouldnt notice the difference (see the picture of the rule and measure your phone with one). it is very light too. Now, the screen protector, im sure it was premium, but i messed up putting it (STUPID DUST PARTICLES FLOATING EVERYWHERE), so now i have to buy a new screen protector lol.
The bad: 1) Your fingerprints will stay on the TPU layer (light fingerprints) but they still there. So,,, if you are into security and no trusting anyone and thinking about someone will do conspiracy against you and will use your fingerprint to unlock the phone, well,,,, it is not for you, unless you paint it with an spray ; 2) possibly another bad side: if you are no accustomed to the volume buttons on the side of the device and have to constantly looking for where exactly to press, then this is not a cover for you, since the buttons totally disappear with it. On the other hand, they are easily to press if you are accustomed to the volume buttons on the side; 3) The cover might slip if the material of the surface were you put it is made of Anodized aluminum or any other material that has been processed or polished.
Funny Fact: Seems that they created the cover missing some information about the phone's physic, since they added a button in the right low side of the cover which has no purpose there LOL!
I havent had any scratch so far (from the fall) yet.
If there is any question, please let me know, and i will try to answer. Or any other comments.
Cheers!
@aknotts415 >> here is what i think about the cover. Pictures are on the first post too
haha..thanks...i was just about to post here and ask if anyone has any thoughts on this case...i'm stuck between this zizo and the poetic...
i dont want to take any chances...I had a Note 7..then replaced it with a recalled version...had a nice spigen tough armor case on it but no screen protector...I accidentally dropped it at work and managed to somehow scratch the screen lightly..i guess it doesnt matter since i'll be replacing it with my LG V20 arriving tomorrow...:good:
**oh, could you post some more pics with the case on...maybe during the daytime with more lighting...so how was the tempered glass protector??? was it actually pretty thick, and any advice on getting it on perfectly???

When i come from college today at 11 am i will posting more pictures from every angle.. Now, about the tempered glass, it is very thick. if it werent for the dust particles in my living room, i would have put it perfectly, Something that i like is that when you put the screen protector, and the put the cover, there is no way any dust will go inside, at least from the front part, since the polycarbonate layer presses the tempered glass, hard enough to no let any dust go inside. So, neither from the front nor the audiojack nor the type c port, you will get dust. I just bought 2 tempere glasses on ebay ahhahahah.
Few advices to put it perfectly: go to a place inside your house where there is the least amount of dust (no air conditioner, no windows, and no fans rotating), clean your hands with alcohol, and let it dry. then start from the hardest part, The top, as soon as you align the top and the edges on the top, it wil become easier. Now, i noticed that many of the screen protectors, such as this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Shield-Te...ywords=lg+v20+tempered+glass+screen+protector
Are not been built correctly. As you can see on the reviews, you will see people talking about the tempered glass not properly adjusting to the edges, And to be honest, i dont know if this tempered glass i used but put wrong had the same issue since i see the edges not properly adjusted . maybe because i removed it 2 times and put it back on, or maybe is the built quality. Anyway, im going to wait for the other tempered glasses. and see if those have the same issue.
i bought this one:

It doesnt feel bad, it could be better though if it were aluminum probably. But i figure that the polycarbonate absorbs impact better than metal. Also, please revisit the the first post of the thread, i made some changes into my review you might want to read.

Nope. It doesnt. it leaves even an extra small space after the 2nd screen just to make sure that every touch does work. Also it leaves a small space after every edge for the same reasons. :good:

Oh! you are right hahahah. I didn't notice that until i went to the same link on ebay now. The black one shows the 2nd screen, but the others show it as covered . hahaha Probably for the same reason they added something extra to the case that it didnt need to be there as you might have noticed in the picture #8 of the first post i uploaded. But just to play safe, if you will bu y the cover, ask them first.
So my charging flap is already not staying put. I only charged it once and the flap is already loose .

Yeah at first i thought the same about mine. But then after a minute or 2 it came back to normal and iI t stayed put covering pretty well. Did you try after a short period of time?
Well , for the time being, i did a little adjustment to mine lol and it worked. I put a very very very thin layer of superglue on the edge of the port-cover and waited for it to dry, now the superglue is part of the case, but now the dustcover protector stays there the second i want it to stay there. Although it is not necessary because as i said before, it will come back to normal after about 1 minute or 2 minutes.
On the other hand, I just dont want to return the cover and have my phone naked for another week LOL . And also, i kind of like how thin it is yet very protective. and the seller gave me $5 dollars back because seems like the "premium screen protector" is one of those that wont stick to the edges correctly, althoguht it might have been my fault since i removed it 3 times and put it back on.

Hey i have a question. when you open the cover to plug the usb charger, does it remains open? or is it like mine that after a few minutes it does closes okay?
Since there don't seem to be any tempered glass screen protectors that cover the entire screen and stick properly to the curved edges, I'm looking for the next best option.
What is the best protective film for the V20?
So far, I have come across these two on eBay:
1. Nillkin HD Clear Crystal Transparent Thin Phone Screen Protector Film For LG V20
2. 2x Mikvon Armor Screen Protector for LG V20 Retail Package with accessories
Anyone have experience with either of these protectors? Are they worth buying?
I tried to find Skinomi on eBay but shipping to my country is not available.
Note. International shipping is important.

Yes I did but the shipping costs are way too high, at U$9.95 + U$4.00 it would cost more to ship to my country than the cost of the screen protector itself.
I got this one and it rocks! It goes all the way to sides and it doesn't attract fingerprints, without compromising the screen quality!

The Armorsuit screen protectors have always treated me well. They seem to be clearer/have less of a "fuzz effect" than the others I've tried. They're wet application if that matters to you. I personally think it makes the process easier.

Mikvon goes from edge to edge. However it does not stick to the top and bottom curve of the phone. You will have a gap and it slowly collect dust. Also if you have a case, it might push on to the SP on the side.

Is this wet application? How much room is on the side? I use spigen case and looking for screen protector that doesn't interfere with it.
If the screen protector goes from edge to edge it has tendency to be peeled off by case.
Also does it cover entire screen from top to botton included lg logo?
Not a wet application. Just a dry one - you'll get quite a bit of bubbles but they clear up within a day. It's got about 1mm at the sides, cutting it a little close - slight off and you'll have that halo issue which I solved by snipping a bit off whichever corner.

So far, I haven't seen such a problem. No dust or lint collecting on the sides. but like I mentioned, slight alignment issues and you'll probably have to trim it off using a cuticle scissors or something - that's what I did. :good::good:
Here's a video for reference. Pardon the quality, I got the cam for christmas so just fooling around with it.

It's definitely better then the Mikvon I got. The ads say "gold..." and the pic shows a tint of gold?? Don't see that in the video though, so it's just a normal TPU SP?

The gold is just the top film used during application. It's really just clear. Not too sure how a TPU SP is like but I reckon yes, it's just a normal clear version.
One word of advice, don't try to remove the cut-outs when you're removing film 1, leave it there, it's easier to remove that way - I learnt that the hard way.
Here's it now, the bubbles are pretty much gone and I haven't done anything specific to it. Perhaps playing some swiping games pushes the bubbles away

Bump. Anyone find anything yet? Tried the highly recommended skinomi and that thing is crap. If you want to feel like you're touching an inner tube for a bike (minus the dirt) enjoy. But I can't stand that rubber feel. Ordered a different PET type from Amazon, hasn't come yet but hoping I'll have luck. Wet installations suck. And absolutely hate tempered glass. So, anyone have any PET type protectors to recommend that cover the whole screen?
Found one. Non-tempered glass, no orange peel feel, fits perfectly. 5$ on Amazon. Orzero LG V20 Screen Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GO1YXFQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3r5XybWYKE83Q

Nope, dry install. If centered correctly upon installation, it is complete full coverage. My tip is to get a deep steam in your bathroom, and make sure your hands are clean. I have no lifting from my case and I got a case that the phone slides into. It has been perfect since install. Only 1 comes in package, but lifetime warranty. I highly recommend it.
Hello all,
I'm looking for the best tempered glass screen protector for Pixel 2. I have looked through the List of Google Pixel 2 Screen Protectors and I have searched Amazon too, but the reviews are either fake-5-star-reviews, or generally poor reviews.
Can anyone recommend the best option for a Pixel 2 tempered glass screen protector?
Thank you
I have this one and it's the best IMHO and is case friendly. I can attach some pics for you tomorrow.

Spigen, take your time as it fits perfectly side to side on the visual part of the screen only.
Ia am using This glass and it's my third glas right now. 2 times saved my display.
It fits perfect, it is curved.

If you are looking for the best, whitestone dome is probably the way to go. It is expensive though. If you aren't worried about full adhesive and curved so it passes the edge of the display there are a lot more options. Spiegen is good for a lower cost option, but it only goes to the edge of the display and doesn't curve.
Thank you for all the suggestions. I'll definitely use one of these screen protectors

Quick question: do you (or does anyone on the forum) have one of these and can tell me if I can use it in combination with Google's fabric case?
(Also, I am currently in Germany. I can order one, but the translated text on the Amazon listing sounds like a scam. It also claims to "take away blue light". I want my display as intended, not blue-filtered.
FTR, I've been trying to get the "official" SP (Power Support) from the Google store, buy it isn't available in Germany.

I'm currently using one. I think it would fit the Google case, but I haven't tried. I've used it with an OtterBox symmetry, a speigen tpu, and with the moment case with no issues. It covers the full display but still leaves gaps on the edges.
I haven't noticed any significant blue light filtering but I did see that the description stated that. I can try to compare it against another Pixel 2 with a different screen protector and see.
Thanks, that would be nice of you if you could have a look at a second Pixel 2.
FTR, I turned off colour boosting, and really appreciate the near-natural colour provided by Google's OLED settings. I couldn't understand why people complained about the "faded" colours in the beginning. I bought this thing as a camera with a phone, and I want to see my photos as close to what I see while shooting them. Filtering blue light is a bit of a deal-breaker for the glass dome, if perceivable.
I've had 2 Whitestone Dome Glass protectors. The first had to be replaced when my phone slipped through the gap in my pull out couch and when trying to get out it slipped under one of the couch legs, crushing the screen (no screen protector will help in that case). The second came in today, after some back and forth with Whitedome trying to figure out why it was showing out of stock on Amazon, and I had to trash it less than an hour after opening it.
The first one was a hassle to install but once installed I really, really liked it. The second had a broken bottom piece for installation, causing an imbalance in the phone and I went through 3 (one left over from first install) adhesion tubes before I realized that was why a good bit was slipping over the edge of the phone and not across the display. When I realized what was going on I was kind of angry it even happened, wasn't paying much attention, and the protector cracked when I was removing it to try and clean up everything...
I either got lucky with the first or REALLY unlucky with the second, but either way I'm not buying another one. The installation process isn't exceedingly difficult, but it's just way too cumbersome for what it should be, costs too much, and just isn't worth the headache. Really disappointed in it. Luckily Amazon did me a solid and is letting me refund it.
That first was by far the best I found for TGSP's for the Pixel 2. I'm really hoping the Pixel 3 goes back to fully flat glass, not this "it's curved just enough at the edges to make it extra difficult for third parties to make screen protectors" crap.
Follow-up: I tried it and it works with the fabric case, there is stilla gap. @jppowers is right about the installation process, it is a buggerance. I had an air bubble, glue spilled under the protective sticker on the speaker and it was generally cumbersome.
There is some blue light filtering, which makes sense given that the glue is near-UV-polymerised, but my brain compensates this and I don't see it if not in direct comparison with a screen without the protector.

Hello,
Does this screen protector actually curves around the 2.5d edge of Pixel 2 or is it just that the edges are sloping to give a smoother feel when finger meets the edge of scren protector, but the actual contact surface side of scren proterctor is flat? Would be awesome if you could share close up pictures of this protector on your phone. I am wondering if this screen protector actually creates no ugly halo effect around the preimeter when applied?

Thank you this one looks interesting, tempted to buy one myself, but maybe you have idea why there is significant amount of dust stuck? Is protector not full adhesive? Could it be that due to contouring it is unable to stick to whole screen surface properly? Misapplied or high-dust environment?

Hey, I don't really know what could be the problem. At the beginning everything was OK, but later problem with dust appeared. I am in normal surroundings, with no extra dust. Office-house.
I bought, as reserve, from same guy foil protection also. Maybe it will be better.
When a screen protector only has glue on the edges the dust enters at the speaker openings. I'm still using my original Spigen Glass protector with zero dust since it adheres to the whole screen but doesn't cover the curved sides, the pack comes with 2 protectors and I will swap it out soon as the fingerprint resistance isn't the best anymore(but it's been almost a year).
Whitestone's Dome is definitely the best by far, but just as everyone else has mentioned, the installation process is a massive hemorrhoid. For what they charge they oughta include a professional in-home installation service.
I highly suggest to anyone who gets the Dome, set aside 2 hours, watch the videos online, prep your area, and be extremely patient. Also, make sure you've eaten and haven't had anything that will make you jittery or anxious like coffee, it will make the whole process much easier to handle and you'll be much less likely to fly into a rage if you run into issues.
Also, as mentioned by others, be sure to fully inspect your glass before you attempt to install it. There is a very thin film on the back of the glass to keep it from splintering in the event of a shatter, and sometimes they end up with bubbles between the glass and film during manufacturing. I went through both tubes of adhesive and a lot of frustration before I realized the bubble was not a personal application error but a flaw in the glass. Getting a replacement was no issue, but I still lost two hours and grumbled quite a few choice words.
Caveats aside, it's a superb full coverage TGSP.
I have been noticing these reports from people saying that their rear camera glass has been breaking on their own without the phone falling down the ground and having them in really good cases.
Imagine checking your phone out and seeing the camera glass cracked...
Anyone experienced this?

They're nice skins was thinking about getting one but I'm getting a case with a sliding cover so when i don't use the camera it will be protected just by sliding the camera lens cover on the phone case.

I saw those, really interesting but those dbrand teardown skins look so good. Wanted to give them a shot, so I got those plus a few clear cases to try it out.

Let us know how good they are after hearing about the camera being shattered on there own i didn't want to take that chance at the moment I'm using a Spigen Hybrid Neo Case that i won. But will be replacing it with that case I'm getting for that camera protection but still waiting for it to get delivered.
If you drop your phone, its going to be 50/50 whether you break anything. Just don't drop your phone.
I would recommend a glass protector as the addition of a skin can reduce the brittle effect and absorb a lot of the forces
There are a lot of people also saying the glass broke without them doing anything. TBH I find this VERY hard to believe...

Same here I don't believe it looks like it was intentionally broken the hole where the cracks are look too precise.
I've applied a Spigen GlasR protector on mine. Works perfect, and doesn't introduce an awful haze to photos when using the flash either. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0844KGLZJ/
I've tried one other that advertised itself as being edge to edge but wasn't, and produced horrendous photo quality compared to the Spigen
Seems like a skin over the lens is a real sensible option. You don't have to worry about a glass cover that may affect camera lens clarity and you still get some protection to the overall camera system.

That looks like a really good lens protector how's the quality of the images when you use that zoom feature? i read on that review that it had issues with it on.
I just read an article on Techspot this morning for the days news. Some are theorizing there is some sort of gas inside the glass and it explodes outwards. If that is the case then no glass protector is gonna help with that problem. The BS part is Samsung saying its cosmetic damage and not covered under the origianl warranty. So that will cost you $400.00 dollars to repair. Or if you have Premium care it will cost $100.00 for the deductable. If it turns out this is a defect they should be fixing it free. I guess time will tell. As of now only a couple dozen have reported it.

The real question is though why would they put gas between the glass? I think it's time manufactures stopped using Gorilla Glass and use Tempered Glass instead.

No issues with the zoom. I fkd up the install of the first one, went on incorrectly and didn't line up. The second attempt was perfect and holes where they should be. No issues with image quality or pics with flash.
The only hole in the protector is for the mic, and so far has been no issue with dust accumulation, still clean as a whistle.

I noticed with the one i got from the Bay i get glare from the flash so might end up getting this one eventually.
This is why I rather use a skin or just be careful about how I use the phone/lie it down on surfaces. Because of the glare and other lens issues while trying to snap images. Rather not get anything in the way of the camera lenses.
I got a glass protector but it was really bad. So the skin should be a better solution.
Well, no idea how it can happen without dropping the phone.
