plug your phone to computer then turn on adb mode. when youre on adb type adb shell then su, then type this
setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
there should be a adb msg again on your phone asking you to press ok. then let your pc or laptop install the driver for diagnostic. then open QPST go to software download. there's those stuffs in there telling you to back up or restore your QCN. back it up for me pls in the format of .qcn and .xqcn and don't rename the extension file cuz it will give me an error. thank you man!

[Q] backup before htcdev?

hello everyone, i finally decided to unlock bootloader of my HOX and here it is first question: what will be wiped with unlocking? will my files, photos, music etc.. stay there where i leaved them or will erase all?
Your sd partition was untouched, u don't need to worry. The unlocking process will only reset the phone to factory state. After unlocking, flash the recovery and take a back up of ur stock rom.

If you want to keep your apps and their data, I would suggest titanium backup as well.

but i need root to use titanium backup i think... and i must be unlocked to root...
what about loosing warranty? i know it won't loose at all, but a part of it... which part?
Use ICS Back-up ability
Follow this guide:
tbriden said:
If, like me, you're moving over to the One X from another ICS phone but don't want to root until it doesn't require htcdev.com, you can still backup/restore all your user apps and data from your old device to the One X without Titanium (which needs root) or MyBackup Pro (which costs money).
Firstly, you'll need to install the android sdk to get adb (Edit: And HTC Sync for the drivers). Once you have that, open a command prompt and cd to the adb folder, eg
Code:
cd c:\android-sdk\platform-tools
Then run the following command
Code:
adb backup -apk -all -nosystem -f c:\backup.ab
(where -all is every app, -apk means to also include the apks and -nosystem ignores the system apps and data)
You'll need to confirm the backup on the device itself for it to start and, optionally, set an encryption password for the backup.
Once it's finished, plug the One X in, enable 'USB Debugging' in Settings -> Developer Options and then run
Code:
adb restore c:\backup.ab
...then, on the One X, enter your encryption password (if specified during backup) and confirm. Once it's finished, all the apps and data from your old phone will now be restored on the One X
Note: this feature of adb only works on ICS so you can't backup from previous android versions (although i haven't actually tried).
If the backup option doesn't exist in your adb, make sure you have the latest Android SDK

I just moved to Cynogenmod 10 (preview 4) and since we cannot use Titanium until I root, Most of the apps I use (gentle alarm, apex, llama) had their own internal application backups. I used those and restored it after reinstalling the application in Cynogenmod 10. Hope it helps

[Q] Error: more than one device [and emulator] + the device is offline

I downloaded SDK and set it up, and now I'm using the CMD with the adb commands as far as I can. Now, the problem is the following. When I type "adb devices" I get a list of around 20 items, all stating offline. I tried the restarting the server (http://forum.xda-developers.com/goog...lator-t2804157) and for a brief moment, like 2-3 sec, there is only one device, but it says offline as well.. after that, the list keeps on filling until it reaches around 20 items again. Another thing I saw and tried is using "adb -d reboot bootloader" and it gives the same "error: more than one device", this time without emulator. Another thing I tried is booting into fastboot from the phone itself and following the htcdev method, but when I try to get the token it freezes on "waiting for device" and nothing happens. So basically, I can't unlock the bootloader because I can't even see my phone in the adb devices. I have had HTC Sync isntalled along with the HTC drivers it provides. Also the Windows drivers are installed as well. As I'm typing the thread, I saw that windows has some updates that it wants to install, and I'm letting them install right now.. eventhough I doubt that this is the problem. I'm starting to feel annoyed and I'm looking for help.. any ideas are welcome....
EDIT1: I just restarted my PC with all the updates it installed. I decided to also restart my phone and re-insert the battery just in case. As a side note, when I do adb devices when my phone is unplugged, the list stays empty. After I plug my phone the process goes like I described.. like 20 devices show up, all under the same ID/Name and all with the Offline status.
P.S. - I don't have Bluestacks. I have Sandboxie and Daemon Tools but I doubt they cause the problem as I have tried without them as well.
Ok....
---------- Post added at 07:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:07 PM ----------
Install min adb and fastboot... After that, boot your device into bootloader..open min adb by right clicking and chose open file location..inside folder right click and hold shift and chose open cmd here..in cmd window, type fastboot devices. Let's check and see if PC sees the phone

Before I go to bed...
Alright, I need some quick help before I lay to sleep.. I somehow managed to unlock the BL and flash CWM but what I don't know how to do now is flash the SU. Should I:
A) Place the .zip version of SuperSU(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053) in my SDcard and flash it via CWM or..
B) Download something (which, though? hAlp) from here http://androidsu.com/superuser/ and flash it via CWM..
Which one will be the most beneficial and give the root?
P.S. - I will try to explain, as far as I can and remember, what I did to get my device recognised so that the people who read can get help..
Your ROM should have supersu already installed
---------- Post added at 01:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 AM ----------
If u flashed cwm or twrp, the option to flash supersu should automatically appear. If not, yes..flash via recovery.

Open up Terminal Emulator on your phone
Code:
su
If this is the first time you've used Terminal Emulator a Superuser or SuperSU popup will appear, make sure you grant root access.
Now enter these two commands:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/sdf1 of=/sdcard/modemst1.bin bs=512
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/sdf2 of=/sdcard/modemst2.bin bs=512
This will place two files (modemst1.bin & modemst2.bin) on your internal storage. Make sure you copy them to your PC and other Clouds immediately so that you have a backup there to use if you need to restore it in future.

TWRP recovery makes this very simply, backup and restore as you would do for the Rom. And keep a copy of the files on various places / clouds.
So I just pick the efs backup in twrp or flash it through twrp

one imp note to all user -
Don't restore efs backup untill there is valid reason.
Because for some user restoring efs backup caused device to hard brick.
For example recently official Team working on development of TWRP warned Nexus user ( forgot which device ) to not restore efs backup cause its bricking there devices. And such issues also occurred in past for different devices.
So I strongly recommend to NOT to restore backup untill there is valid reason

Other option is to go to Google Search (preferably on a PC) and search XDA-Guide: Enabling LTE Bands.

Try enabling setenforce 0 in Terminal Emulator.
Just type in the following (enter each command separately):
su
setenforce 0 (to set permissive) or setenforce 1 (to re-enable enforcing)
and confirm with: getenforce
Failing that, it may be hard coded in your rom which may put you out of luck.

Add Mobile Data and Wifi HotSpot toggle without root

Don't want to root your phone but you still want to tweak it? No trouble, you can still use adb shell to change a few settings.
-First, follow this guide to install ADB on your Windows PC: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
-Then, you have to plug your phone to your PC with a USB cable.
-Finally, launch a command line and use this command:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "Wifi,SoundMode,Bluetooth,RotationLock,Flashlight,Dnd,custom(com.android.settings/com.samsung.android.settings.qstile.PowerSavingTile),BlueLightFilter,Location,custom(com.samsung.android.app.aodservice/.settings.AODTileService),custom(com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/.tile.SmartMirroringTile),AirplaneMode,custom(com.sec.android.app.soundalive/.DolbyTile),WorkMode,MobileData,Hotspot"
We also may have a way to enable Call Recorder on our phone with ADB Shell but, I'm still trying to figure out how it could be done.

There is no output with that cmd. To see if it worked, check if you can now see the new toggles in Quick Panel.

Don't want to root your phone but you still want to tweak it? No trouble, you can still use adb shell to change a few settings.
-First, follow this guide to install ADB on your Windows PC: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
-Then, you have to plug your phone to your PC with a USB cable.
-Finally, launch a command line and use this command:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "Wifi,SoundMode,Bluetooth,RotationLock,Flashlight,Dnd,custom(com.android.settings/com.samsung.android.settings.qstile.PowerSavingTile),BlueLightFilter,Location,custom(com.samsung.android.app.aodservice/.settings.AODTileService),custom(com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/.tile.SmartMirroringTile),AirplaneMode,custom(com.sec.android.app.soundalive/.DolbyTile),WorkMode,MobileData,Hotspot"
We also may have a way to enable Call Recorder on our phone with ADB Shell but, I'm still trying to figure out how it could be done.
Click to collapse
