Yes, it is possible. You can do it by running an ADB command. I don't remember, but you can google "ADB command to hide nav bar on Android" or something similar.
Unfortunately, when I tried this on my phone, it started having a delay to wake up after pressing the power button.

Hello friends!
I got my LG G Pad Yesterday
Is there a way to remove the Front Touch Buttons? I couldn't see any options in Settings! Is it possible after rooting?
I plan to use only gestures for the front key button functions... May be we can use the screen real estate more effectively if we get rid of the buttons?
Any thoughts / suggestions?
I just installed an app called GMD Auto Hide from the Play Store. It provides an auto-hide feature for the touch buttons. It seems to work well, except that it overrides the setting on the phone that lets you change the button order. I want to set up the soft touch buttons so that the "back" key is on the right to match my Samsung phone. It appears that the GMD app doesn't have a setting for that. Too bad.
Does anybody know a way to get auto-hide and also customize the button positions?

Thanks for the quick reply.
With GMD auto hide, does the display get extended to the button area or the area just becomes blank?
I am thinking of using GMD gesture launcher to to replace the buttons...

It gets extended. I haven't used it very much yet, but it looks like it does the job, if you don't mind the button order.
Ok, I played with the app some more. When it replaces the soft touch keys, it puts a red line at the bottom. I did get it to put the back button on the right side, but another issue is that it puts a "recent apps" button where the menu button usually goes, then it puts a different menu button on the right edge. I wish it would l wish it had more options to set it up the way I want to.

I tried it, but it didn't work for me. The normal soft touch keys were not hidden.
GMD Gesture is fantastic. It hide autobar (your tab need to be rooted) and replace virtual button by gesture that you can define by yourself. Moreover, the developper is very reactive..

Thanks. GMD does the job quite well. I overlooked the status bar on/off part in GMD?

Hi,
I am using SideControl to navigate in immersive mode so I would like to disable PIE as well as the navigation bar showing up when swiping from the bottom.
So swiping up from the bottom touch area should bring me back to the home-screen. However, when enabling PIE, it obviously brings up PIE, when disabling PIE it brings up the navigation bar..
So how can I disable both?!
Thanks a lot!
You can't.
We wouldn't implement a feature that removes all navigation options
Maybe place pie on the left edge of the device

You can try disabling the navbar in build prop by adding qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1
This way you can hide the navbar without the need for immersive mode (and thus pie).

Well if you flash a custom rom some have a navbar toggle for the notification pull down. You might be able to use tasker to set something up like that as in when the keyboard pops navbar hides then show back up after it's closed, but I'm not too sure as I haven't used it myself. Aside from manually toggling it I'd say that would be your best bet. I know for a fact that blisspop has the toggle.

Someone got to permanent hide the softkeys on nougat? I've already tried putting "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" at the end of build.prop as I always did in my other phones, but that don't seen to work. I've tried too using a lot of overlays to set the softkeys height to 0, but with no sucess also. Besides that, I've tried to decompile de framework-res.apk and modify the navbar height value to 0, what gives me no navigation bar but no status bar too.
Any another way that will work? Am I missing something? I really want to use lmt and hide those screen space eaters
Just use https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-custom-navigation-bar-customize-t3590967, there is an option to hide the navigation bar

You ever figure this out..this has got to be the most annoying thing about this phone.
I use Assistive touch app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luutinhit.assistivetouch and have a floating button which helps me to navigate. One tap for back, double tap to home and hold for recent. It's quite useful and convenient. It's always there at the thumb position and easy to reach. I use Nougat/Oreo Quick Settings app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.simonesestito.ntiles and created a custom tile for immersive mode to hide navbars only, yes if you swipe from bottom you'll find the navbar there but i don't need to cuz I use the floating button all the time. That build prop command works for me, I've tried that earlier but i choose the immersive mode because if Assistive touch crases (which never happened till now) I can use the navbar as backup. The command you're using is right, I don't know what's the issue but you can reset your device and then try if it works.
I am a S22 user and want to use FNG or VNG.
To use FNG or VNG, it needs to remove navigation bar.
Anyone know removing navigation bar??
I cant find any way to remove it completely.
I've found a solution
Hex installer works completely on one ui 5.0.
Thanks.

what Adb?
I tried some adb commands like below
"adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-200"
but it doesnt work.
Did I do something wrong?
As far as I know, there is no method to remove the navbar on s22. The only thing I know, you can suppress back gestures in "swipe gestures" mode using ADB command. In that way, you will be able to utilize only the sides of the screen for FNG.
For that just use this command with ADB:
adb shell pm grant com.fb.fluid android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
and then chose "One UI full screen gestures" option in FNG settings.

Oh, and that would last ONLY untill reboot if you have no root.
If you install Samsung "Good Lock" and the install "NavStar" there is an option "Show and hide button". Then you have a little point on the left of the navbar. With double tab on it you could switch between hide ansd show.

want to remove not to hide
Both Good Lock and One ui display option have only a hide function.
