The LOS14.1 works well. I haven't tried the others yet, but AOSP extended is there. I don't think the developers have created any forum threads, so I don't know how to get updates.

Do i have to refer to the "whyred" version for modding? For custom roms? So is this "Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus" the right section for me?

First of all there is no EU version. There is Redmi note 5 Pro(Indian version), Redmi note 5 AI(Chinese version), and just Redmi note 5 global version(same as AI chinese but with global rom + band20 support). All of these are codenamed whyred, while note 5/plus is different device with snapdragon 625 and single camera on back.

Yes, whyred is the code name for the device family of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Global (EU) and Pro (India). Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Plus is within the Vince code name family. Next time I suggest you to do a quick search trough the forums before posting such question with very easy to find answer.

i had the same question in the past.
vince is for redmi 5 plus or note.
whyred is for yours.
i think in asia the redmi 5 plus is called note too.
it's confusing i know.
our phone in europe is RN5 redmi note 5 aka codename whyred.
There are 3 variants.
Redmi 5 note global
Redmi 5 China
Redmi 5 pro for India
I know maybe this thread was posted by another user but I want to know if I can install custom ROMs for Redmi 4a installed on the Redmi 5a, because I see the definition of an official mokee open source project like this [Rolex Redmi 4A / 5A].

I'm currently in the situation that I need a new phone. The Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 7 are almost the same price. That's why I would prefer the Redmi Note 8. Now I saw on XDA that there are a lot of ROMs for the Redmi Note 7 and only 2 officials for the Redmi Note 7. Is there a reason for that? I know that the Redmi Note 8 is new. But still after some months I thought there would be more official roms.
What do you think? Will there be more in the future or is the Note 8 abandoned? And what is the reason for that?

lineage os,
bootleggers,

hydrogen os,

ressurection remix,

development has already started for note 8. But the only issue is that all these roms give random reboot in huaxing display(Except PE). If you have tianma display it would work fine.

i've been on the hunt for custom ROMs myself.
ArrowOS and LegionOS seem to have had regular stable builds for the longest time now from reputable builders.
EvolutionX also seem to be pretty regular although by many builders with varying results. it has its own official build as well.
if you check out the already mentioned telegram channels you can see many others with official builds as well
Do these ROMs take advantage of all the cameras? Do all of them work?
We only allow a single Telegram link, and only in a ROM thread (for one particular ROM) by the Developer who made the ROM, and as long as support was still offered on XDA. Just for example, if a ROM were developed by you, you could create a Development thread for it with all the requirements included of one, and as an option, you could post a single Telegram link related to the ROM in the thread.

According to my best knowledge every rom that has joyeuse or miatoll support. Miatoll is an unified branch so they should work perfectly on Joyeuse as well. I just got my hands on a joyeuse and downloaded a miatoll Pixel Experience rom. I'm still waiting for the bootloader unlock time but after that I'll report back how's Pixel Experience if you're interested.
Pixel Experience rom I have been installing it for a few days on my Note 9 pro, it works very well and no hitch. I recommend it
