Hi, i'm looking for the best kernel for battery/performance ratio.
Already used stock but i wonder if there is something better.
I would say the best one is blue spark kernel

Hi one question there are some settings to applied or just flash and profit ?
ElementalX is my best choice, so far - have been using it for a few days. To me it seems as fast as blu_spark, and it has the sound settings too (which I need for playing loud enough on the fitness center's music equipment - where I work). Battery life seems to be great, but I cannot report on that until i've used it more.
Again?!? There is no"best" kernel. What works good for me may not work as well for you. There are variables. Signal, apps installed, usage patterns. Try them all and find the "best for you" kernel.

+1.
From my point of view, the most important is : stability / smoothness / security fixes / wireguard
For me, the kernel that best suits my needs is Flash Kernel, thanks a lot to nathanchance for its really great work :good: !!
How do I get back to the stock kernel if I do not like another one?
It's easy?
I want to install another kernel but be able to return to the stock if I do not like it

OK thanks. One more question ... I have a system notification to update my Op5t to the latest Oxygen OS 5.1.2, how should I do to update, what steps should I follow? I download the full ote and install and then wipe cache and dalvik from twrp or should I go back to the recovery stock? I've never used the twrp to update and it's my first time with a One plus ... Now I'm with Oxigen OS 5.1.1 android 8.1 stock .... Greetings
I'm using RenderZenith and I personally think it's both smoother & snappier/more responsive than stock kernel. Battery life seems very comparable to stock kernel, possibly a bit better. Unfortunately, I cannot give a comparison of stock vs RZ kernel as far as battery life goes as my day-to-day usage is too irregular to give an accurate comparison.

If you're rooted you'll want to download the full OTA. Easiest way to do that is through Settings>Software Update. If you're rooted it will automatically detect you're rooted and flash a pop up saying "hey you're rooted, and because of that, we'll download the full Zip file" (along the lines of that).
Once downloaded, disable and uninstall any substratum themes (if you have any), & boot to recovery. Once you're in TWRP, follow these steps:
1. Wipe > Dalvik/Cache only
2. Click Install, from there you'll want to navigate to sdcard/.ota, the update should be located in this folder
3. Flash the ROM update.
4. Flash Magisk (ensure you're not using 16.4) The Magisk version you flash should be the version you were previously using on 5.1.1. Do not try to update Magisk while also updating ROM.
5. Wipe Dalvik/Cache (I always do for good measure, not really necessary)
6. Reboot, & enjoy 5.1.2.

If you have root you can use the apk on playstore called flashify. It makes a backup of the stock kernel, if you don't like the result you simple have to restore the stock one.

I have been asked by several people, on the forums and via PM. I thought that I would offer a step-by-step guide.
Will This Trip Knox? Yes, it will. Installing a custom recovery such as TWRP will definitely trip Knox. From what I have read installing a ROM, even through FlashFire, will trip Knox, as will flashing a kernel.
You Don't Seem To Care About Knox That is correct. To this point the only downside is that I won't be able to use Samsung Pay and I don't plan on that anyway. BUT.....if you do care and Knox matters, stop reading now and stick with stock.
I will also recommend that you grab ODIN and a stock TAR file for your phone. You can always find the latest firmware at SamMobile, but will need to create an account and free downloads are speed capped. It will be SLOOOOW. But you will get a zip with the file that you need inside. Good to have in case of accident. Here is where I got mine: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/47474/G920PVPU1AOE2_G920PSPT1AOE2_SPR/
That said.....assume that you have a rooted S6. Install TWRP Manager from the Play store, ignore anything it says about an SD card and click on "Install TWRP." The version that you are looking for is "zerofltespr.img." You can also download that from here https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys6sprint.html and use Flashfire to install. Reboot into recovery (see http://www.androidexplained.com/galaxy-s6-recovery-mode/ for an explanation) and make sure that TWRP is installed. If TWRP doesn't come up, make sure that you used the correct file and try again.) Now you are ready to begin.
1) The ROM that I used is the SAC23 ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...ment/sac23ram9200srintdeoxedmoddedv1-t3107342 Download that and copy to your phone. You should also grab the "Recent apps fix long press on home" zip file from the bottom of that post.
2) You will also NEED (!!!!!) a kernel that is designed for the S6, otherwise you will bork your phone. I use (and recommend) the Ktoonsez kernel located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...elopment/kernel-kt-sgs6-ocv-ktweaker-t3093009 Grab that and copy to your phone.
3) For fingerprint recognition and private mode, you will need the Aroma installer from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60112854&postcount=2 If you use the Aroma installer (and I don't so I have no experience) be sure that those are the only two things that you install.
UPDATE 7/1/2015 Just had a report that fingerprint is working with this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/development/kernel-kernel-t3146127
Anyone interested should read all posts for that kernel before flashing.
Once you have those files on your phone, you are ready to begin.
Return to recovery mode. Before you do anything else....Click on "Backup." Accept the default settings and let it do its thing. I always name my backups....calling this Stock is probably a good idea. Once that is done, if you break things, you can return to this.
Okay, now go to Wipe. The old-timers will disagree, but most of the time the default "Factory Reset" is all that you need. If you are paranoid (and who isn't?) after this you can go to Advanced and choose Dalvik Cache, Cache, Data and System. But I rarely do this anymore. Complete guide for using TWRP is here: http://www.androidtipsandhacks.com/root/twrp-the-complete-guide-to-using-recovery-on-android/
Now go back to the main screen and select Install. You can select multiple zips. Flash the ROM, the kernel and that Recent Apps zip file. Be sure to set the kernel to flash after the ROM. Or you can flash them one at a time.
Once done, reboot phone and if all went well, you will see a new boot animation. First boot will take a while, let her go.
You should have a clean build so remember that you will need to reset Developers options, security (for allow Unknown sources) and other stuff.
With the Ktoonsez kernel, you will have the KTweaker app, very useful. If it doesn't install for you (and it didn't for me) the APK is located inside the zip file that you downloaded at S6\KT-SGS6-LP5.0-TW-G920P-05.28.2015.zip\system\app\ Extract that and install. I use downloaded Profiles a lot.
If all is well, but the fingerprint and private mode settings are things that you use, go back into Recovery and select ONLY those two items. I'll state again, I don't use them, have never flashed the Aroma installer and can't offer any help. I have seen that they work for some people, not for others..../me shrugs. I can't help with that.
I also use the Wicked One Theme from @dazedandconfused who is a master. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...ps/theme-wicked-one-theme-s6-s6-edge-t3129822 for the theme and instructions. Be sure to follow the instructions about having the Urban theme from the Theme Store installed first. But this theme makes me very happy.
That is everything that I know....which goes to show how little I know!
EDIT: Missed a step....DOH!.... if you are using TWRP you should flash the zip file found here to address the Deep Sleep issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60385577&postcount=56

I have to say that it is really popular mod, but not to my taste either. Here is what I run for battery:
GSam Battery Monitor (also lets you customize the battery icon, but I don't)
Greenify and Wakelock Detector
With Ktoonsez, I have the Ktweaker installed. Click on the 3 dots upper left. Scroll down to KTweaker Shop Profiles and then pick from Conservative, Balanced or Performance (or grab some of each.) I am using the Conservative Profile "Dead By April." I love that name!
Average Per Complete Charge (now this is with light usage) 2 days 0 hours, with screen on 1 hour 41 minutes.
Not expecting to get the same battery life when I am traveling or with heavy usage, but that is still pretty remarkable.

Hello, thank you for this great write-up! I PM'ed you the other day, and you helped me get my phone flashed and all.
However, I am still having issues with the Fingerprint scanner. If any other users do use the Fingerprint scanner, could you explain the steps in which you flashed each file? After using the Aroma installer to fix Fingerprint, I keep getting "Unfortunately, Fingerprint has stopped working." I just can't seem to get it working even with the Aroma installer. Maybe I am flashing files in the wrong order?
Thanks for any advice!

I have tried both. I first wiped system, data, cache, dalvik and tried that. Then, I tried dirty flash from stock, flashing the ROM, kernel, and fingerprint fix, then wiped caches, and nothing. :/
Could you start the aroma installer, and on the first slide it tells you the version. Could you tell me which version you have? Maybe we have different versions, that could be the problem.. Thank you!
Edit: I also tried the other debloated ROM you mentioned, but it did not work with nor without the Aroma installer. If anybody wants to work with me to get this working, I can provide logs and information and test out whatever is needed. Thanks!
Thank you for this write up...glad to learn there is dev'ing going on for the edge.
Was hoping you could help; tried flashing twrp via odin, per instructions--root manager shows that I have TWRP 2.x.x. installed but when I try to boot into recovery I just get this crazy bright white screen. Was able to reboot normally the first time, but then tried booting into recovery with flashify and now stock on that bright white screen. I do have success with getting connections with odin, twrp flashing successfully. But now trying to flash back to stock firmware to get my recovery back and I have mixed results. PLEASE any help would be very much appreciated...might have borked my brand new s6 edge...but hope not.
Thanks in advance.

First off. please edit your post to not include the entire Original Post. It is both bad form and makes it difficult to find your question.
The first thing that I would do if I were you is to make sure that I had a good download of the SAC23 ROM. That is most likely where your problem is. I will check my download later and post the MD5, but you should re-download.
I checked MD5 using WinMD5 Free (shouldn't matter, there are several MD5 checkers)and the MD5 should be 3bb8163e902769f564a2f3adb3a1b7e6. Try checking that.

Came here to say I had the same problem. The original ROM posted here was a Deodexed ROM, and the aroma tool posted was an odex version. There's an aroma installer for Deodexed Roms that works perfectly fine, just gotta use that. I'd post the link but I've been up all night and I have work in an hour lol. Have fun, the ROM is pretty nice!
@koop1955 @scott_0 have yuo guys flashed SacsROM v3?! It seems effin' amazing!! I'm verrryyy tempted to try it lol.
So I rooted my 5X with the help of the Nexus root toolkit. I have successfully flashed Elementalx kernel through TWRP and have tried flashing the ROM and GApps through the toolkit and through TWP but always end up in a bootloop at the Google screen. What am I doing wrong?
I'm just looking to load a Custom ROM to possibly squeeze some extra battery life out of my 5X.

Hi mate,
Did you try and clear cache & dalvic after installing the rom through TWRP.
Also did you install the kernel after the rom & gapps, also try another kernel maybe, or use the stock one with the rom ( if possble ).
or grab the factory image and go back to stock & lock the bootloader.
Also, I did read if you do not use the SDK toolkit from Google ( contains Fastboot and ADB ) , you can have issues like this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206930
I will do some reading and see what else I find.

Which ROM are you flashing? Most have a decent installation instruction you should follow precisely.
Basic steps in correct order:
Download ROM and Gapps.
Clear data and caches (always clean install a new ROM).
Flash ROM
Flash Gapps
Flash custom kernel
Root.
Boot (on pre 7.0 first boot may take 10+ minutes)

I chose options to clear cache and dalvik when using the Nexus root toolkit and then again manually when I tried to flash through TWRP. I don't quite remember which order I tried to install the kernel. I'm assuming from your question the kernel always always has to be flashed after flashing a ROM? (Even if the kernel was previously flashed?)
I'l look into doing it the 'old fashioned' way as it seems it should iron out any issues. Thanks for the help and please reply if you have a chance!

I'm attempting to flash the latest version of Pure Nexus, Gapps, and Elementalx. From what little research I've done it seems like people are able to run this ROM and kernel combination without issues.
I followed these steps to a T and cleared cache/dalvik after every flash. I am on Nougat right now and the phone would get as far as the Google bot logo. The longest I waited was probably 10-15 minutes. Could it possibly take longer on Nougat? Does that have anything to do with encryption?
Thanks all!

I've been running pure Nexus with elementalX for some time now and never had any problems. Are you sure you aren't using the nougat version of elementalX? 3.05 is NOT the correct version for running pure Nexus at this moment as the ROM is still based on 6.01.

THAT must be the problem! I didn't know it was running on Marshmallow. I'll give that a try now. Thanks for the obvious answer!

So not only did I need the Marshmallow version of ElementalX but I also needed to update my vendor image for the PN ROM. Thanks for the help! All set from here on out.

Glad to be of help. Have fun with your phone!
First of all make sure you're on the correct firmware for whatever rom and kernel your wanting to use or it will not boot. It will bootloop if on say a Marshmallow build amd your trying to install a Nougat rom.. Now if all matches you can proceed.. This is how I've installed roms for 5-6 years: in twrp wipe: data, system, cache, delvik cache, flash rom, flash gapps (open gapps mini is what I use) flash either SuperSu zip or PHH superuser, next reboot. Some roms (example: DU and AICP) come with SU already inside so no need to flash it.. You can tell because in twrp during flash process you'll see SU being installed If rom comes with it. If you choose to use PHH Superuser you'll need his app from Google play store. Just grab it (search PHH Superuser) and open it and you should be good to go. I use SuperSU as I've had issues using other SU with ARISE sound which is also something i use. Hope that's not confusing. Hmu on hangouts if you need help and I'll help when I'm available: [email protected]

Need any help
Hi mate, i have now unlocked bootloader, installed twrp and installed pure nexus rom. Did not use the toolkit, i used adb and fastboot using commands... It was easy. If you need a hand with anything give us a yell . [quoter=Angdvl089;68875927]So I rooted my 5X with the help of the Nexus root toolkit. I have successfully flashed Elementalx kernel through TWRP and have tried flashing the ROM and GApps through the toolkit and through TWP but always end up in a bootloop at the Google screen. What am I doing wrong?
I'm just looking to load a Custom ROM to possibly squeeze some extra battery life out of my 5X.[/QUOTE]
Hello my fellow 5t owners.
Now I'm no noob when it comes to Android, but I have a small question to ask everyone, to guage what people do, and how they do it.
I'm assuming we are all rooted so can not take OTA updates.
The question is this:
When a new update comes out, do u dirty flash on top of ur original firmware, or do u do a full wipe and a clean flash?
If ur dirty, like me, then we all know how to do that.
If u clean flash every update, what steps do u take to back up everything on ur device before u wipe? Do u just use TiBu for apps and data or do u take any other additional steps?
I like forward to reading it replies
its usually ok to dirty flash an update providing its based on the same rom source (oos or aosp), i would wipe cache after tho.
I only ever dirty flash from the same OS, I tend to stick to OOS so it's kinda easy and everything stays the same, I just have to go into TiBu, back up newer versions and then debloat everything I usually get rid of, lol.

I usually flash AOSP ROMs and clean flash whenever the developer recommends it. I'll also clean flash even if it's safe to dirty flash, but only when I have free time. The way I backup and restore is:
Apps, call logs and sms with TiBackup
Bluetooth and WiFi with Pairs
Create a backup within Nova for my homescreen setup
I go through my ROM settings again manually though

That's great info thanx.
I used to be a flashaholic when I was running a custom ROM, mainly used OmniROM on my Galaxy S3, but now OOS is actually a really good close to stock ROM so I am happy with it. I like the closest to stock Android I can get, just using Evie Launcher instead of OnePlus Launcher.

i totally agree. OOS is really good
Try to reflash the rom, do not flash magisk but reboot system. Then you can reinstall TWRP and flash magisk.

So after almost a whole day of blood, sweat and tears, I am FINALLY on OOS 5.0.2!! And what a nightmare it was
I ended up having to totally wipe everything, after trying to restore my back up and getting the "ENCRYPTION FAILED" ur device is now borked message.
STILL haven't got everything sorted, and kicking myself that I didn't flash 5.0.3 seeing as it's out in the wild, but never mind, I am now on Oreo and it's working almost perfectly, with Magisk and Systemless Xposed.

Hey there,
There's a fellow XDA user by the name heindix who gathers newest drivers for our convenience.
As always, newer drivers should improve performance, battery life and stability and in worst cases - ruin everything.
THESE DRIVERS ARE ONLY FOR OREO (STOCK IS RECOMMENDED, DIDN'T TEST ON CUSTOM ROMS) AND NOTHING ELSE!!! DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT BOOTLOOPS AFTERWARDS IF YOU FLASHED THESE DRIVERS ON NEWER OS, IN THIS CASE, ANDROID PIE. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!
For now, the only way you could update these drivers is straight from TWRP. Just unzip the package, have it by hand somewhere, boot into recovery (preferrably CosmicDan's one), mount /system, go to file manager and copy extracted drivers (the whole vendor folder) to the /system/system.
This is strictly experimental, since I can't guarantee everything will work as it should. Many users said that v313 provided the best performance, even better than v330, so that should say something.
Again, this is experimental.
Download link is down below.
Again, huge shoutout to XDA user heindrix for his wonderful work.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/17ZVTe41a-7dWWiKzjhmf_qu4R33zAu7o/view?usp=drivesdk
I made a systemless (Magisk module) version:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/15SHfLMtl8jSZda4sbeeO-NFUMRdSdWsz/view?usp=drivesdk
So you can try them safely and uninstall them if you want.
Installed magisk module, play store crashes everytime. please fix it

It's not safe to use these as a Magisk module. I'll create a flashable zip soon.

Can you explain why?
I think that installing these as a Magisk module is safer because you can simply disable them if you face any problem and you can use this new drivers without tampering system partition.
If you copy these files in system partition OTAs will fail and you have to reflash the ROM in case of problems.
Anyway thanks for your work.
thanks. It worked.

I am not responsible for any bricked devices. Install at your own risk!
This is experimental so please post any bugs you find.
SCREENSHOTS
What doesn't work:
I haven't found anything so far that seems to be broken. Doesn't mean it's bug-free though.
How to install:
1. Factory Reset
2. Format Data
3. Flash rom <-- Download
4. Flash GAPPS
5. Flash Magisk [optional]
6. Reboot to system
Enjoy.
I tried to install the ROM to my SM-T560NU, it boots with no issues. It's very laggy to use, so I mess around with crDroid settings and I changed the scrolling cache setting (Settings->crDroid Settings->User Interface->Animations->Scrolling Cache) from Default enable to Default disable, it fixed the laggy issue.
I also tried to flash Vince2678's overclock kernel and it boots with no issues.
This is the Bomb. I have a Tab E TM-560NU. I failed miserably trying to install other roms. But yours went in 1st shot. Nice work!
Question is I'm thinking about putting Magisk, But do I really need it? Is that like SU? Probably a very dumb question.
This rom is for Android 7?

I've experience of flashing my tablet so I can flash my tablet without issues. Since it's too laggy to use, so I switched to LightningFastROM 17.1, for now.
If you had issues of flashing the ROM, I recommend to use this version of TWRP:

It's your choice whenever you want to use Magisk or not. If you want Busybox, ViPER4Android FX,etc... or other apps that requires root then you'll need to flash Magisk in order to use it.

One Questions Dev's and Fellow members Can this rom be flashed on SM T561 too ?
running on the sm-t560nu well. no lag issues, doesn't pass safety net though. not that big of deal, was just hoping magisk hide worked. Did you by chance add in the patch (or is this even applicable) found here: https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/tree/master/patches/9/sys
