The bootloader can't be unlock at the moment. Asus is known for giving the tools to unlock the bootloader. So its matter of time to have the tools to unlock it.
Asus just released the unlock tool for the ZenFone 3 so the tool for the Deluxe can't be far off. Maybe this tool will work for the Deluxe??

Hey there I posted this under "rooted":
Hey, just went onto ASUS global & US website and saw that there is an unlock bootloader utility for the ZS550KL (updated 11-Nov-2016) but not one for the ZS570KL. Does this matter, since both phones are "Deluxe"? If not, any assistance to unlock bootloader and root the ZS570KL. Thanks!
Any help or feedback, greatly appreciated.

i wish i could do a test run, but sadly it's not on 5.7 yet and i asked asus about it, and haven't gone back to me yet on the issue.

Fairly new to rooting phones and this question is due to my inexperience, but if the phones are both considered "Zenfone 3 Deluxe" what does the size have to do with it? Thanks for explaining.

well according to the this link here ... https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Deluxe-ZS570KL/HelpDesk_Download/ (This is for 5.7 and there is no show of bootloader)
however this link here https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Deluxe-ZS550KL/HelpDesk_Download/ (shows a bootloader unlock for the 5.5 version)
We need developers to jump on this darn phone and get it going somehow, if there is anyway possible to get their attention on it. I was able to tweak my phone a bit more with the startup manger (free) from google play to get more ram space.

5.5 has SD820 cpu, 5.7 has SD821... Would you try and use the other, untried method of unlocking if it may destroy your expensive little toy?

This is untrue. The 5.5 has the SD625, and the 64GB 5.7 has the SD820 and the 256GB 5.7" Special Edition has the SD821.
While it could be possible that a bootloader unlock tool for the SD820 could be used on the SD821 (but maybe not) because the architecture is essentially the same, an unlock tool for the SD625 most certainly would not be as it is a completely different processor.
I know we seen this answer before, but this is what i got from them.... https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-120584-1-1.html
I emailed Asus support and got this as a response:
Me: "When can the bootloader unlock utility be expected to be released?"
Them: "Unfortunately ASUS does not actually asssit with unlocking of the Android Bootloader. I must advise that you do so at your own risk, as once the boot loader is unloked it will void your warranty. But we will transfer customers' wishes to the related department for further development."
Edit: I prodded them further and received this in response:
"I have transferred your wish to our Product department, but temporary the accurate time the unlock tool for this Zenfone 3 Deluxe model would be released couldn't be ensured."
Which I believe means: 'We can't give an official release time yet.'
There is a "petition" in Asus 's Taiwan forum requesting an official bootloader unlocked tool and the thread is marked "under active review" by representative of Asus. No ETA is given though and the thread is in Chinese. If you are also interested and want to give it a little more push you could leave English message there.

Hey, thanks for the explanation. I did not even consider looking at the specs (chipset) to see if there was a difference between the 2 models. I just thought they were the same phone just size of screen difference and/or less storage. Forgot they also release a 820 model.
At least you can get to the heart of the menu of the recovery, just can't do much there either. Thanks to a lucky source right here.... been trying find out how to do this...
https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-120913-1-1.html
1.) Turn off phone completely
2.) press power button and volume down at same time and hold it untill you see an android logo with an "!" with the android logo that says "no command". when you see the logo release all buttons.
3.) Now, press and hold power button first and then quickly press volume Up. You will then see the options including wipe cache.

Hi,
recently commented in a similar thread but no response.
I have a Samsung Tab E (gtelwifiue) with Los installed. Have done 2 or 3 updates (in device) already. But recently tried the last 4 builds available and none of them get past the animated Los logo when rebooting.
Pretty sure I'm doing everything the same as I have before, it's not really complicated. Download it, press to install, follow directions. But after pressing (in twrp) to reboot (after install), it sits at the logo screen, I waited 45 mins this morning for it to change, no joy.
Thanks (just joined Reddit this morning to report this, but won't let me post for 24 hrs).
------- edit to add ------------
So I didn't find any answers to this after searching xda, following suggested links, etc.
But, You can open a bug report with LineageOS. In *this* case, it's a 'regression' bug (it used to work but no longer does). To create a bug like that it's important to at least have a good idea, if not the exact date, of when it did work (that cuts down a lot on the work needed to solve the problem).
I followed the links found on this page; https://wiki.lineageos.org/bugreport-howto.html
It's been accepted and assigned, no telling how long it will take, but at least I've done what I can do. Word to the wise; *always* do a backup before upgrading to a newer 'nightly', unfortunately, sometimes a new 'fix' for something might cause a problem with something unexpectedly.
cheers

Hi and thanks for responding. The second link is actually the one that I've already responded in a few days ago. As near as I can tell, it seems to be a build issue as the older builds work okay. It certainly is confusing, I'll wait until I can post on the Reddit account for the Los Builders and see what they say.
Thanks again.
I updated the original post to indicate how to do a bug tracking problem. Thought it might help some people with some of the issues they've been indicating.

Would be interresting why your device bricked, as I wanted to root my device and Flash this Rom this weekend... Funny that i'm just a 45 min drive away from Salzburg!
it was the same behaviour like this : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77749736&postcount=99
but I couldn't get it to work like him, though I've tried until unit was "dead", and I don't have the energy to try the usb-otg method.
p.s. I'm living a bit east of Munich, so maybe not to far away from you?

Hi folks,
Perhaps few of you active people have already noticed my desperate pleas for help around XDA. I hard bricked my phone in a silly fashion whilst downgrading from OPP28.65-37 to stock nougat rom as I lost functions in the former due to its incompatibility with its montana siblings. XT-1799-2 despite being and upgunned version has the least support in general and I doubt anyone would care to include it into any custom ROM family or even press on a fully working Android 8.1 or even higher for this device. All I want now is my phone back, rooted and with a working system. For that I need your help.
So, could I find any good soul who would provide me or even create for me a 'mmcblk0.img from their Montana Oreos with bootloader matching OPP28.65-37 ?? Sadly I am not sure what the version is, but someone pointed out it might as high as 12. Could you check for me? Muchas gracias!

I am stuck at the latest version of android 10 (.618) on my xperia xz2 compact H8314 and I have a big problem using whatsapp and other messaging apps like messenger and telegram, basically the voice notes sounds very low, I can record audio using sony audio recorder and works fine but the other apps dont, I have been looking for this thread all over the xz2 forum but could not find it so thats why I decided to create it, I have also looked in other webpages but it seems that are very few mentions of it, I found this one and tried to follow it, but I failed in my attempt.
https:// xperiafirmware. com/downgrade/
Any help/advise is welcome and even questions of what I have already tried.
I thought about any other alternatives like fixing the problem in Android 10 but I couldnt either.
Edit: I get the next error message when I am flashing the .ftf file that I downloaded there:
"Those data are not in the FSC scrip and will be skipped:
BOOT,DSP,FSG,MODEMST1,MODEMST2,RDIMAGE.
Do you want to continue?"
then I try to turn on my phone and get the message "your phone is corrupt and it wont start" or something like that.
I have owned several xperia phones in the past, the last one was xperia X compact and I remember (I could be wrong) that I was able to make a downgrade without unlocking my bootloader.
I succesfully downgraded from 10 to 9 using sonys flashtool with bootloader unlocked. But I'm not sure if it's possible to do it without unlocking at the moment. Why not just unlock the bootloader?

Would be helpful if:
Where to get the Sony flashtool. (link?)
You could provide a link to how to unlock the bootloader. and
You could describe the "Downside" to unlocking the bootloader. What "no longer works"? Such as, will it no longer apply factory updates? Will Digital Rights Management (DRM) no longer work?
Seriously, my XZ2 Compact H8214 keeps reminding me (several times a day) that a firmware update is available, and I am sort of "scared to death" to do it. All I read are negative comments about what Android 10 has done to ruin people's phone. Without a way to "go back", I am seriously thinking of just ignoring these messages for weeks and weeks.

Well first of all, unlocking bootloader voids warranty, then a number of several sony technologies will for sure stop working, Basically all proprietary technologies like audio, video and most importan thing, CAMERA enhancements, how I do know this? well because I have been reading a lot lately and also since some years ago, and by experience because back in the day I had an xperia x compact and I didnt remember to backup DRM keys before unlocking bootloader.
Anyway I have found a way to downgrade from android 10 to 9 without unlocking the bootloader, I am not sure about if I should make a new post with specific instructions( a guide) or just write them in this post.
Oh, yes. Please share. The more details the better. (Assuming that people "know basic things" is often incorrect. The things I don't know is FAR too big to list.)

I have downgraded from 10 to 9 using official flashtool from sony (with bootloader unlocked) and my camera, audio, video etc. still works just fine. Maybe I just got lucky, but I think that by doing it through the tool provided by sony itself it shouldn't break anything. Which in my case, it didn't. Btw, thanks for the guide ?

Or maybe you don't know what you do, and happy for the nothing.
If you unlock the bootloader, you loose the TA partition (DRM keys). Your camera quality is worst, and some features lost (ps4 etc).

I just picked up an H8314 for use on Verizon in the US and it has Android 10 already.
@Tom 23 can you explain more about what you did? Details? Are you using an H8314? On Verizon? I've read in the XZ2 forums supposedly now unlocking on Android 10 still breaks some stuff but now not the camera?
@williamgrant can you provide/link a list of exactly what breaks when you unlock the bootloader? Perhaps what breaks depends on what version of Android you're on when you unlock?
I'm trying to determine/weigh the pros and cons of unlocking to root are, if its worth it, what am I giving up...

Do you notice specific problems with the H8314 on Verizon? I have been delaying the Android 10 firmware update because I cannot seem to find many reports of "how it works on Verizon".
I've only been using it for a little over 36 hours, but so far nothing glaringly wrong. Keep in mind thought that 36 hours ago I was using a 2013 Motorola Moto X running Android 5.1... now I'm on Android 10... So there's probably stuff that is a bug that I don't recognize is a bug!
My wife's had her H8314 on Verizon for about 6 months and it's on Android 10 as well. If she's not complained to me about anything then that's good! Then again, she's likely not at the same "level" as XDA forum members are!
I too am interested in how to roll back to Android 9 if it can be accomplished reasonably easily without giving up a bunch of stuff.
I've been plagued with issues on Android 10. Even with the most recent update things have not improved. The two things most annoying to me are the drastically reduced battery life (more than halved!! it doesn't even last a full day anymore!!) and the fact that MMS do not download correctly all the time anymore. I've also noticed that camera quality has gone down somehow, even though Android 10 was supposed to improve it...
Hello folks
I successfully downgraded my XZ2 Compact (H8314) from Android 10 to 9 using that info: "https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82087435"
but I had a problem, I downloaded (using XPERIAFIRM) 52.0.A.11.32 South Korea version (I'm from Italy, but Italy version is not available) , every thing work fine except LTE (4G) signal, as frequency of two country is not compatible, then I installed Android 10 again and all was ok.
So... now my question is: do you know where I can found 52.0.A.11.32 image customized for Italy?

Hi! I know this is 1.5 years later - but do you happen to still have this file? Thanks in advance.

I can do this not before Monday. When I'll find I will upload on Monday...
