un-root SM-T800 - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I wanted to start using my SM-T800 again. I had the last cyanogedmod installed and I noticed that I could not make Netflix to work.
Last week I tried to flash Lineage with Odin and it didn't work. The Odin msg was "establishing communication with the device" and then failed. I downloaded the official firmware from Samsung and tried to flash it without success.
This morning I flashed Magisk to try to make Netflix to work and after flashing it, TWRP asked me if I wanted to install Super SU as well. I said yes and when rebooting, it just stays in the logo forever. I can still access to download mode, though..
I made sure that the Samsung drivers were installed in my computer but I'm not sure what to do. I don't care if I lose the root.. I just need a working device. Is it possible to un-root it? What can be the issue that I'm not able to flash from Odin?
I know that there can be million reasons, but some ideas would definitely help.
Thanks in advance

I know that Netflix is not friendly to rooted devices or devices that were modded in some way. This used to manifest in Netflix disappearing from the Play Store on such devices. However, you could still manually install the Netflix using the apk file. There are repositories on the web that distribute the apks. You can google for them. This is how I installed Netflix on my Tab S (running stock MM, but rooted)

[Q] SuperSU not updating, etc

OK, I know this has been asked and asked again, but I have been reading and digging and googling for several days now, and cannot find a solution.
I've got a JB S3 At&t, and wanted to root it, so after reading for a few weeks, I got the "Samsung_Galaxy_S3_ToolKit_v7.0", donated, and got 7.2 (newest version). I flashed with the toolkit to get an unsecured boot image, with SuperSU 1.04, busybox, and TWRP .
Root happened fine. The phone booted, and when I went to open SuperSU (the icon was in my apps), it asked to update the binaries. I said yes, it failed, and the app opened anyway to allow me to access the options. Triangle away worked fine.
The update binaries thing was bugging me, so I updated to SuperSU 1.10 via google store, and the same thing happened, but now I could not access the program after the binary update failed. It still works (triangle away asks and gets permission) but I could not access the program any longer. It just closes after it informs me that updating the binaries failed.
I have tried installing the program as an app, pushing an APK, and installing a zip from recovery. No matter what I do, it ends up the same.
I have also re-flashed the boot several times, and tried a different method using Odin directly and CF-Root. (seems to be the only way to uninstall it) I have tried numerous combinations, but to no avail. I feel like I have done everything I know how to do short of an unroot to stock and try again.
Any helpful suggestions are welcome.
I'd like to be able to use the program, but this is turning into an OCD nightmare. I'd post this in a development forum, but do not have enough posts yet.
Install "SuperUser" from the market. Manually delete SuperSU from /system/app. Reboot. Reinstall SuperSU from play store and binaries should install fine...

Thanks. I ended up doing it the hard way. (I swear I had auto email notification enabled here, or I would have seen your post and tried it)
Anyway, I cleared caches/userdata/wipe cache partition first, then flashed a stock unrooted 4.1.1 rom from here,
Then I used CF-autoroot, and low and behold, SU was showing up as an app. (it was not previously when I used CF-AR)
I let it update itself and bam, it works! Installed adbd insecure, and it works too. (it was not showing up as an app when I did it before either)
Next I added TWRP 2.4.3.0. and everything still works!
Either the stock AT&T rom on this unit had something interfereing with root, or the root image I used in the toolkit has an issue. I'm leaning towards a toolkit issue since when I used it and it installed TWRP 2.4.1.0, I could not get into recovery, just a black screen.
I lieu of this, I'm limiting my use of the toolkit.
Curiously, the toolkit also allows a sideload via TWRP/CWM, but does not provide a driver. Windows 7 cannot recognize the phone in recovery mode with a custom recovery installed, although it does when a stock recovery is. I have yet to find a driver.

[Q] Need help installing Cyanogenmod 10.2 from scratch and from stock ROM

Okay, so I've had the Galaxy S3 for a while now. It was rooted and was running the original rom. I rooted it to be able to use wifi tether and other applications that weren't available from a non-rooted stock rom. All that said, I have been having issues recently and when I try to load and install the OTA upgrade, it fails to install correctly.
All of this said, I am looking to install the new stable Cyanogenmod 10.2.2 but after several hours, it isn't working.
I've attempted using Odin to root the phone, downloaded, copied and pasted the .zip into the phone along with the latest GAPPS, but the only one that installs is GAPPS, which doesn't really matter because my play store still doesn't work. I do get the "PASS" for the rooting, but without being able to use the play store, I'm pretty much stuck with a smart phone that can make phone calls and nothing else.
I originally attempted to use GOO Manager, but it kept failing and now my backup is no longer available.
Additionally, I have been getting the error "Unfortunately, Remote Control has stopped working" when I try to use the Google Pay Store.
I am looking for the "Root & Install Cyanogenmod 10.2.2 for Dummies" assistance here, as I'm not the biggest techie. I've rooted my phone in the past and had no issues, but this time, I'm at my whit's end and am on the verge of saying @#^% it and just getting the new S4 at a cost of about $200 that I wasn't and am hoping not to HAVE to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

[Q] Hot to root, install recovery and ROM on a SM-T805? Confusing info out there!

Hi there,
I have a SM-T805 from a few months, and I grew tired of its lags and sloppiness. I've tried to read many threads to find the most simple way too root, install TWRP and a ROM, but most of the threads are old and quite confusing.
So... could someone please tell me, step by step and with the proper links, how to ROOT and install TWRP in the easiest and most safe way?
Thanks a lot!

You don't need to ROOT 'AND' install TWRP.
Just install TWRP and it will root for you.
You can use the version below if you wish which I built, I have updated the Super su root files and fixed an issue with the wrong reboot option showing - BOOTLOADER instead of DOWNLOAD mode.
Just install via ODIN then boot into TWRP, select reboot from within TWRP and it will ask if you wish to root your device. After that your device will be rooted with the latest updated root.

Did it and installed Iron Rom. Thanks a lot
I have one problem... after I installed TWRP and rooted, with ANY rom I install, included the original one, I get the "no connection" error with every single app from google. In other words, I can't use the tablet. It's like Google knows the tablet is rooted and blocks it. How can I solve this?
Try resigning into your Google account. If that doesn't work clear cache and data for Google play services.
Sent from my SM-T805 using XDA Free mobile app
I found out that when I'm rooted, Android automatically sets my wifi connection behind a non-existent proxy. This happens in EVERY ROM I install, from the original one to Cyanogen. I just have to disable that proxy and everything works. WTF.

Huawei Mediapad M2 A01W Rootin Help

Just bought a demo tablet from work and have had problems trying to get the retail demo app removed 'Liszt'
I have managed to disable the app, however this only works temporarily, as soon as you restart the tablet you have to go through the whole process of disabling again.
I have tried factory reset.
I have tried Kingo Root through a computer, it said it had succeeded however did not install SuperSu so obviously did not root properly. I have tried installing SuperSu through google play store however whenever you go into it it just comes up with 'SU Binary Occupied' so something obviously isn't correct.
I have installed 'System App Remover (ROOT)' an when opening the app it seems to think that it has rooting capabilities however when trying to uninstall Liszt it just says that it has failed.
I am pulling my hair out here trying to get this sorted and every tutorial or online info on this tablet is outdated and has links that just go absolutely nowhere, so please do not just send me to another thread where all the information and files are just non existent as you just cant follow it.
Anyone out there with previous experience in either rooting this tablet or removing 'Liszt' let me know what options I have.
Thanks in advance!

[SM-J610F/DS] I wanna know the reason for which my root fails.

Hey Good Morning folks.. I bought a new phone J6+ and I didn't care for warranty and I decided to void it and root my device. I updated my phone to the latest software from Samsung through Odin and everything went well. I downloaded Magisk Manager after that then pulled the boot image from the stock room I have using 7-zip and patched it then flashed it to my phone through Odin. As in such case it was supposed to work as it worked with all other Samsung devices I rooted.
After that I downloaded Solid Explorer and I tried to remove some apps from my /system/apps as a simple test to see if my root works. it was Youtube it wasn't a dangerous critical app. But then my phone hanged and restarted then I found Youtube is back.
I went to Magisk again and downloaded BusyBox from there and installed an app called "Uninstall System Apps" and I used it to remove Youtube also as a test it removed it and the restarted the phone flawlessly then I went to remove "Facebook" then restarted my phone then Gosh Youtube is back and also Facebook.
I found out if I try to modify anything in /system the phone will restart then undo what I've done.
what is the reason? is it Defex? is it RMM? is it Knox? is it DM-VERITY? I just wanna know what is wrong with it to see how I can fix it.
Edit:
Phone: SM-J610F/DS
Software Build: M1AJQ.J610FXXU1ASA3
Magisk version: 18.1
I keep reading other threads and posts. I can see there is a way using Ashyx Method https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ecovery-twrp-3-2-3-1-galaxy-j6-j610f-t3875150
I just wanna know why it fails if I install Magisk with "Patched Boot method" only.
