Google Fi DUAL SIM standby? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

In this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3691210, it was alluded to that the physical SIM would act as a true dual SIM standby as long as it wasn't a Fi carrier SIM (TM, Sprint, USC) through the eSIM. Is this true? I want to use a physical Verizon SIM(work) alongside Fi eSIM(personal).

You can do what you are asking, but both will not be active simultaneously. You can switch between them at will however..

Bummer! Thanks for the response though. Out of curiosity, why? Anything with root that'd change that?

You'd have to ask Google. Ive not seen anything via root to enable it.

Mobile Hotspot ?

Sorry if this is a noob question but is there a known way to get hotspot provisioning turned off for Note 4 Dev Ed? Thanks in advance!
What exactly are you asking?
I would like to use the mobile hotspot for free with my unlimited data
As far as I know it's unlocked. They no longer can charge for it. It's built in. I have used it. But I am not on unlimited data. If you can't use the pre-installed app then download on from the playstore.

I dont get it I was receiving an error saying contact Verizon. But now I'm not lol w.e thanks for the help!
Not sure for dev ed but retail we all use foxfi

Have been unable to connect since last night. It appears Verizon rolled out a silent update disabling it on multiple devices. Read the most recent FoxFi reviews in the Play Store for several other accounts of this. Anyone else know of a solution?

I never used it much because I had Foxfi ,but it did work. I'm still looking

Verizon threw in a silent update last night. All of us unlimited data users got screwed. If you look at the reviews for the app, everyone from our carrier is having the same problem. I've been looking for another app to change to that will do that same thing. No luck so far. Sucks, since I've been using Foxfi for years and it always worked like a champ.
I say BOOOOOO to Verizon. =(

Here is the Mod we used for native tether on the DE Note 4 it is a zip and I think the only way to use it is with a custom recovery. No HD Voice?

Hey guys,
I've just got my OP3 yesterday. HD Voice isn't working somehow. How can i turn it on or make it work..? I know from the OPO that it should work OOTB.
I know it supports the function, but my carrier says the device doesn't support it.
It's a shame that i have to deal with these kind of answers from their side.
Note that i'm not talking about VoLTE, but about HD Voice. VoLTE is still not available in my country.

Well someone said it supports HD Voice Over LTE/Volte. Now I'm not a specialist but since you said there is currently no Volte that might be your issue.

Don't have the sim toolkit

Recently shifted ROMs and I don't have my sim toolkit anymore. It's important for banking and other financial transactions. Is there any way to find and flash the apk? Or do I have to shift to a ROM that has it?
UPDATE: This appears to be a Nougat thing. I've switched ROMs and the problem persists. This has never been an issue with MM ROMS. I would rather have to not go back, so if anyone has a suggestion, I would really appreciate it.
Should reappear. I think it has to do with your mobile provider....every time I switch ROMs it appears
It could be possible it doesn't exist in that ROM you are using

Try downloading app for your mobile provider to pay balance etc....
Sim toolkit should appear after
I'm sure ATT ...T-MOBILE whoever your with has an app

Not in America. In Kenya, the mobile money ecosystem largely (and generally most electronic financial transactions) depends on the sim toolkit. Even the app requires you to have the sim toolkit first before it can do anything useful.

The dial just immediately brings up "call ended" and removing the sim doesn't bring any changes. Tried it a few times just to be sure.

It is your sim card or ROM you are using. So you will either have to switch ROMs or go to a safaricom shop for sim swap

The app requires the sim toolkit to input password. Guess I'll have to switch ROMS.

screen calling

Just received my p3xl and i cant see any option to enable screen calling
It should already be enabled. When the phone rings, you select the call screen button instead of answering the phone.

Settings>Tips&Support>(Type in..)Screen your calls before answering.

If you are rooted you can follow this guide. I've used it before call screening & transcripts were rolled out to P2's. I used it again on the P3XL to get transcripts working ahead of rollout. You'll notice there are flags to override the U.S. locale check. I think it will only work if your language is set to English (US), but if you get it working, try switching to your default country. If you read through the thread others in the UK and even India have had it working. Best of luck... it's great! @c_86

I am unable to change mobile network providers.
I try to disable "Automatically select network" to change my provider manually.
An error occurs:

(when I don't re-enable the slider, but rather back out of the menu and go in again, the slider is enabled by itself)
Has anyone ever run into the same problem or got an idea what could cause the problem?

Maybe it depends on the country and SIM card Provider? I have the same issue and cannot select Network Manually, would need to do so cause this SIM card is new and just roaming cause its US card used in Europe, how to force a command line Network scan? Moreover I had this issue in 15.1, too. N910V Verizon Note 4

Well, the updates on this may come a bit late, but with LOS17.1 (Android 10) I'm not able to reproduce this problem.
If you haven't already, I can greatly advice to upgrade!

No worries, I found a way to use that SIM card, my issue was different, But I dont remember how I did this, June 2019 and October 2020
